The best Lincolnshire sausages I’ve had they definitely should be an option to buy to cook yourself. The breakfast Is actually one of the cheapest I know of but also by far the tastiest around. A bonus too as also it comes with a tea of coffee, definitely recommend.

Popped in for breakfast, my son had burger and chips, for myself I ordered the belly buster breakfast, the burger was mostly nice but they smothered the bun with butter which obviously the hot burger melted and turned the bun into a gooey mess as for the belly buster breakfast I can’t comment as I never received it but I’m sure it would of been nice, other peoples did look good.

Visited for the first time Saturday. Staff were fantastic and so helpful. We all ordered a different variation of breakfasts with tea and coffee and despite a small wait for a table it was all cooked fresh and piping hot. All breakfasts were thoroughly enjoyed and leftovers were taken away for the dog. We will definitely visit again as the lunch menu looked really tasty. Keep up the brilliant work.

Good honest food using the best ingredients and cooked perfectly. Not a fast food place because what you order is cooked fresh to your order, if you want just speedy warmed up cardboard go somewhere like McDonald’s etc. every member of staff works hard to give an excellent service and an excellent meal. I don’t write reviews regularly but this place warrants an excellent review just because it hits all the buttons for quality and unbelievable value for money

Went for breakfast a couple of times here now, and I must say the place is 10/10 excellent. This has to be the best breakfast in Town. All top quality ingredients used from Freeman Street Market itself and all in all makes for a top class breakfast. If yoiu haven't tried this place, then give it a go, it is first rate. Excellent value as well.

Popped in today for breakfast. Sat at a table to look at a menu & a crazy lady came running over to tell us that we can’t sit there as she hadn’t sanitised yet. We jumped up to accommodate &!she asked us if we had been allocated the table. Replying no she rather aggressively ordered to go over to the other side of the courtyard to ask if we could have the table & then walk back over to the table & sit again. We took this the hint that we wasn’t welcome & decided to take our custom to a more welcoming & friendly establishment. Never have the words ‘never again’ been more apt!

This popular café is now under new management and, as we often do, we called in for breakfast. The menu and process appeared unchanged but the new staff had smart uniforms and the tables had check cloths. So far so good, But the food, although nicely presented, just wasn't up to previous standards with cold hard bacon, runny eggs and an underdone sausage. Get the previous cook back soon. Please.

Another go-to place to eat was The courtyard cafe. I started going here in around 2016 when I moved back to the area. Food was always excellent. Prices brilliant. And service was always with a smile and a bit of banter with the locals. Then it changed hands unbeknown to me and our visit was less than it always had been. I ordered a toasted sandwich which came with coleslaw on the side and my partner had the breakfast. There was nothing on offer that I could drink so I just ordered a cup of tea for my companion. My companion's meal arrived on a ceramic plate and mine arrived on what looked like a dirty and stained old chopping board. The juices from the coleslaw had seeped into my toasted sandwich making it soggy and had also run into the channel around the wooden chopping board. The whole thing looked unappetising so I didn't eat it. On returning home I messaged The courtyard Cafe to find out it was now Jade's Courtyard Cafe and explained about my food being served on a chopping board instead of a ceramic plate. Now whilst reading this I would like to bring your attention to the fact we are not eating in a Michelin star establishment in new york, no, we are on an indoor market in the rundown town (My place of birth so I am proud of it but also honest nonetheless) of Grimsby. I was told that the "chopping boards" were now a standard thing and that the customers liked them. They were soaked and scrubbed clean after each use. Now it is OK to serve food on wooden boards however, those boards must never be soaked in hot water as it opens up the woodgrain which in turn allows bacteria to harvest. The boards must also be oiled regularly in order to keep the wood from drying out and splitting again this would allow bacteria to harvest. When I asked how often the boards were oiled I got no reply. Needless to say, we will not be eating here again. Personally, I have no idea why on earth anyone would serve food on a wooden chopping board and especially not a greasy spoon cafe in Grimsby. A message to Jade of Jade's courtyard cafe should she read this- If you must serve food on wood then please invest in some proper birch, regularly oiled, never soaked in hot water, plates. Not a bunch of old stained chopping boards from Wilko's. And maybe give your customers the choice of what they would like their food served on. Or at least lay the sandwiches on a piece of greaseproof and put the coleslaw in a ramakin to avoid soggy toasted sandwiches and cross contamination.

I first went there a few months ago. Now I always go there when I go to the market. The food is plain home cooking, cooked well with decent sized portions. They do a good mashed potato without lumps, which is more than I can say for some of the cafes I have tried. The staff are all pleasant, helpful and efficient. It is in the courtyard so don't expect fancy décor, but you can expect a decent meal.. Ideal for taking a break in your shopping.

Never had a single problem with the place, the staff are always friendly and polite. Meals are fantastically priced and you get so much for your money. At busy times you can expect to wait around 20 minutes for food but what do you expect it's cooked freshly to order. This is not microwaveable meals banged out in seconds and it is not a fast food restaurant. It's lovely home cooked food. Well done to the manager and staff for such an excellent place!

Tucked away in the heart of traditional Grimsby on Freeman Street Market you will find the Courtyard Café, set appropriately enough in a courtyard surrounded by "Shamble-esk" buildings. The Courtyard offers a wide and varied selection of freshly prepared food from early in the morning on market days until late into the afternoon for remarkably little money. There is a large variety of Specials along with regular menu items, it goes without saying that you can get a range of different sized breakfasts throughout the day too.Give the courtyard a try, you wont be disappointed by the food or the friendly service. When you've had your fill you can work some of it off with a trip round the varied stalls in the main market hall which is open on a Tuesday/Friday and Saturday.

We visited to commemorate my Stepfather’s 80th Birthday after he passed away in 2022. He was born in Cleethorpes and as a child looked through the windows of this hotel with his brother saying that one day they would stay here. They both lived to experience staying here, and it is now our privilege to carry on this tradition. The hotel is beautiful, traditional and spotlessly clean. We dined in the restaurant and found the food and service impeccable. We look forward to returning next year…. And every year after.

My husband and I arrived at 1250 to be greeted with “have you booked?” As passing trade but living local we hadn’t realised you had to book and we were informed by a member of staff that they were really popular so tables get booked quickly but she would take a look. We noticed two tables free both seating 4, one in the corner and one set inbetween two other tables. The member of staff informed us that the corner table we had placed our things on was booked at 1:30 but we could have the one set inbetween the other tables and the one where everyone knocked into when passing. I told her we would be done quickly anyway so not to worry. My latte came and I had drunk it before my cake arrived, my husbands’ Americano was very weak but was hot, his cheesecake was tasty all the same and my Victoria sponge equally tasty. Within 15mins a table of 6 was cleared and made available and the table that we originally had chosen was offered as a “choice of where would you like to sit” to customers who had booked. We have eaten in some lovely places and had coffee in some nice settings but have never felt as uncomfortable or unwelcome before. I would say that if passing trade isn’t welcome then put bookings only on your page would be helpful, so customers who feel It would be lovely to drop by and support a local business don’t.
