Had a pensioner's Christmas lunch with my wife and two friends on 12 December 2023. Food, service and atmosphere all five star. The staff were extremely friendly and made every effort to make our experience so enjoyable. Three course plus a mincepie for £9.50 was exceptionally good value. Will make it a 'must go to' dining venue if food is available regularly in the New Year. Well done to everyone involved.

Minging Built in the 1890,s when the cleaner must have retired .2 mugs both with dried coffee drips in them 2 dirty glasses .shower door hanging off at the bottom the wheels not even in the runners ,black short curly hairs in the shower . I would have attempted to put the wheels back in the runners until I saw how thick the mould dried soap and human fat that was gathered on them yuk. Tried the fancy waterfall tap which only gave a dribble of cold water turned it both ways let it run for ages no hot water. TV kept losing signal as home made aerial cable was pretty useless . Sheets seemed clean but were stained with some dark grey colored paint spots . Coffee or some brown liquid had been splashed up the wall by the headboard. Decided to shut my eyes as the place just gave me the ich . Overpriced & needs a proper cleaner

Good location, and rooms adequate for a night stay. Maybe slightly overpriced considering no breakfast included. Mattress very uncomfortable, too thin and could feel the springs. Needs memory foam. Pub below is good, staff member very accommodating when we asked about dinner. The court inn restaurant was closed but he allowed us to eat a takeaway in the bar. Good bloke.

Whilst working for a local company Thrapston has been a place of home at the moment and the courthouse has a been a lifeline for me . I have met some really good people in there I now call friends. The proprietors are very kind and provide a nice atmosphere. I stayed there at Christmas in the very modern rooms they provide and we loved it . not for every body but was very impressed at the local church bells ring in the morning , not to early may I add. Most importantly i must not forget the staff who i can only describe as down to earth and very professional

Stayed 1 night. Bedroom was clean and tidy. Facilities were fine. Shower room was clean and shower fine. Bed pretty comfy. Room was very very hot and couldn't open window as was on front but apart from that all good! No breakfast as there was an additional cost which we didn't want to pay. Bar area could do with a little updating. Social distancing rules and hygiene all kept within guidance.

The room was filthy, the kettle had bare wires covered with tape and old water in it. The toilet brush had excrement and toilet roll in it, the shower surround was filthy. There was stale urine on the toilet seat. The bed sheets were dusty. The windowsills and windows were black with filth. The bathroom floor was stained. The tray with the cups and glasses was filthy and unusable. There were fingerprints all over the light switch. Clearly the room had not been checked, cleaned or aired since lockdown. We arrived late at night after a 4 hour drive. We stayed in room 5

Went for Sunday lunch. Carvery was on offer. The beef was so rare it put me off. Bloody would be understatement. A good vet could have resuscitated that. Asked if it could be cooked more which the girl duly obliged. Roast potatoes looked over cooked. Veggies were OK. It's a great pub with older decor but the carvery let it down

Visited the court house for a Sunday carvery as a party of nine including 4 kids. The staff were absolutely brilliant with the children and couldn't do enough for us which was a great start. Though, the food was even better; the carvery was the closest pub roast to home cooking i have ever experinced. You could tell It was all cooked fresh and the prices were also very reasonable. It's just a shame we don't live in the area or we would most definitely be going there regularly. Thanks for a lovely experience!

We really enjoyed the food , only pub food scampi and chips / hunters chicken but cooked well and tasty , very reasonable prices , the dinning room hmmm very miserable looking , it was a Saturday night and we were the only ones in there eating, harsh bright light , tables and furniture not set up at all, which really does not make it inviting such a shame as I think the room could be made lovely with a few table clothes and little tea lights on the tables , there was another couple on a table as an overflow from the pub section just sitting drinking , little odd mixture of decoration , this is a historic building with huge history a shame someone didn’t do their homework on the decoration side and keep it in period. On a positive side the young chef seemed very pleasant and the young man who served us (it was his 3rd shift) tried very hard to make our meal pleasant , bit of a shame the young man didn’t surface from the kitchen after desert as really wanted to tip him for a job well done but didn’t see him again and didn’t want to leave cash on an empty dinning room table

We stayed for one night here as we were in the area celebrating a friends birthday. The accommodation is above the pub and when we arrived the lady was friendly and checked us in. When booking we didn’t request breakfast but they had included it for an extra £7 each. As this wasn’t until 9am they removed it from our bill as we had to leave at 8am the next day. The rooms are upstairs, no lift facility that I could see if you are with anyone with mobility issues or have heavy bags. The rooms are basic but appeared to be well looked after and clean. We didn’t have much time to inspect the room as we were heading straight out. We arrived back at our room at 1am. The bed was ok- we had a king room but it didn’t really look any different in size to our friends double bed in the next room. It was comfy enough but the room was very warm, we didn’t realise the radiator was on full until the next morning. The one thing that for me really let this place down is the en-suite. Whilst the room was clean, the bathroom seemed to have limescale on the showerhead so it looked a little less clean. The shower was a rainfall one which I love but it didn’t have a separate attachment - so if you aren’t washing your hair, it’s hard to not get it wet as the cubicle is quite tight. The shower tray also fills up with water and doesn’t seem to drain very fast. The toilet when flushed made such a noise and seemed to carry on filling up for half an hour (not good when you just want to sleep). It was so noisy we could hear the room next doors toilet making the same noise. We were only given a tiny bit of toilet paper too. Seems this was not replenished after the last person stayed there. I couldn’t find any spare rolls in the room and with the absence of a reception, there was no way of asking for a replacement. I went to use the main pub toilets in the morning as we had no paper left but the door to the pub was locked (it must not open until breakfast starts at 9). Luckily we were leaving early! You just drop your keys in a box on exit so there wasn’t a way of informing the staff about this before we left. We didn’t eat at the pub so I can’t comment on the food but we had some drinks there during the evening and the staff were attentive and served everyone quickly. It’s a nice quaint looking traditional inn. The car park is a walk around corner at the back of the building, a public car park but we didn’t have to pay.

Visited with my husband and our friend for a quick meal and a catch up. I had the bacon and stilton burger which was lovely and the chips nice and crispy. The waitress was very knowledgeable when I asked if the burger came with any salad or sauce in and assured me they don't and just a salad garnish on the side, perfect for me as I usually have to ask for it 'plain'. They were very happy to swap my husband's peas for beans. I grew up in Thrapston and I'm moving back in the new year, happy to have found somewhere local to eat

Awful is the only word we can use. If you want processed packet food then it maybe your thing. Having seen good reviews we tried the courthouse. It’s very odd as food mentioned in the sparkling reviews isn’t even on the menu !! One might question the authenticity of those ! Waitress swung her hair round four times whilst taking our order and stood playing with her hair. This was off putting from the start . Burgers are lumps of processed shop bought yuk. Not homemade and the Frozen chips drowned with grease. Shop bought dry salad leaves on the side not fresh prepared salad. My sisters pie was cold in the middle and all gravy barely any filling . Steak had been cooked on an unclean griddle by the black stuff it was covered in . No salad dressing offered not that it would have livened up the dry packet salad. Waitress more interested to poke her head through the bar and hit a customer with a tea towel than to see if we wanted more drinks. Nothing cooked from scratch all frozen heavily processed food with no taste. I really would look around before eating here. Us ladies won’t be back which is sad as it’s so local but would rather walk to islip then return.

Here is a pub the is pleasant enough when you pop in, and pretty welcoming, but which could make so much more of itself. It's ample dining space has seen a series of morr miss than hit eating options, and could provide a food outlet to rival the nearby woolpack - but never offers a consistent or reliable service. And the limited choice of beers makes it a poor cousin indeed to its Islip rivals. I can help feeling thst the historic building in a prime spot is rather underused. Not bad for a quick drink but could be so much more.

When we arrived we were told breakfast was from 9am. We asked if they would do it earlier and they said no. We had booked bed and breakfast and had to cancel the breakfast but they still tried to charge us for it. The bed in our room was the most uncomfortable we have ever slept in, really hard and sloping on one side. The tray in the shower was incredibly high and sloping so the soap just slid off. The toilet would not flush if two people used it one after the other. In the morning we left our towels on the floor, to be replaced, but they were just put back on the rail, damp. The bathroom was not cleaned for our second day and the shampoo etc was not replaced. The TV had four channels. We will not be going back.

This is my family's favourite pub restaurant for burgers - but the other food looks good, too. Nothing too fancy, just honest cooking for a decent price. Bar food includes sandwiches & paninis but we always tend to go into the restaurant area, which is based (as the name suggests) in an historic section of this old police courthouse, complete with a couple of cell doors to remind you of the building's original purpose! Main tip - ring to check the restaurant is open. It usually is, but I've had a couple of occasions this summer where the chef has been away and they've not been serving food. Otherwise - a friendly pub, popular with locals with a games room at the back (pool table) and a small outdoor seating area.

I spent only one night in this b&b during a business trip. Pub on the ground floor while the rooms are on the first floor.Positive: rooms were nice and very properly cleaned. I found the bed very comfortable although some people might find it hard. I would consider the price a plus given the fact that I spent 60gbp for a double bedroom.Negative: while, as i said, the room was clean, i cannot certainly say the same for the pub... Very dirty carpet, stains everywhere and sticky tables. The room was extremely small; i would say no more than 9-10m2. Reception not very efficient at check in which took a good ten minutes.

We visited Thrapston last Saturday due to my partner being transferred there by her company. It was around 19:30 so we thought getting a table would be impossible but walking up the road we came across 4 pubs. Looking at each one, we decided on the Court House. On ordering our drinks, we inquired if their was a table for Two available & was informed, yes. On entering the Court Room restaurant, it was aparent we was to be the only people dining. Not a problem, but it does make you wonder why no other diners are there. The whole building looks fantastic so we thought we had chose the right place. What a disapointment when we read the menu. Most of the main courses consisted of burgers, the chalk board was another way of cooking a burger. There was a grill secton on the back of the menu which seemed over priced for what the cuts of meat so my partner opted for a salad & I for a prawn dish only to be told, no prawns so a burger it was. Now don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with burgers & mine was cooked & presented well but it would not have been my normal choice of a Saturdays night dinner. On requesting the wine menu, we was informd there was not one but the waitress offered to write down what selection available, She returned with a piece of paper with all the wines available but no prices. On inquiring, she told me they was all around the same price £14.99 but by this time we decided not to order wine. It seems such a shame that the best looking pub in this road can only come up with a pretty medioca menu. We appreciate there are Three other pubs close by but One of these had a disco, another had a live group, not exactly what you require when dining out. Lets hope the owner reads this review and has thoughts on improving the menu or prehaps the owners are happy the way things are. Which ever way they go, we wish them the best of luck.

Stayed for 2 nights and selected this B&B because of the very good review ratings. I booked a King room en suite but found room to be very small and description as being a double room would be more accurate. Photos make room appear more spacious than it actually is. Bathroom was lovely and modern, bedding was clean. Our room faced the road and was noisy from traffic and noise from pub below was also a hindrance to a good night's sleep. The Friday night we were still awake from pub noise at 1.30. Breakfast was an additional £6.50 pp but was very good, generous portion of cooked breakfast with tea, coffee, juices, cereals so would recommend you have breakfast there. Checkin was a bit intimidating as it is done at the bar of the pub and I arrived at a peak time alone! All in all, the stay was ok but not as great as reviews suggested or as I had hoped.

The food and venue were great. It was a perfect lunch pit stop for us. The food was hot and had been cooked from scratch so it was worth the rather long wait. The only downside was the error the waitress made when she passed us to her colleague mid service and then proceeded to run down the street chasing us for payment when we had paid her colleague at the end of the meal. The Court House in Thrapston is a great place to stay and dine. We were warmly greeted at the bar/reception. We were taken to our room which was very clean, modern and well serviced, there was even a free bottle of mineral water, along with free hand soap, shampoo and shower gel.The room was small, but totally adequate for our overnight needs. The room and bathroom were very clean, modern and tastefully decorated. Due to the time of year, we had the window open all night, which was a little noisy as it opened onto a narrow sidewalk leading onto the main road, so the minimal traffic noise was enhanced. No fault of the hotel. We dined in the restaurant, service was very good, the menu was extensive, and the meals were excellently cooked. We indulged in home made puddings, portions were generous to say the least. We returned the following day to have lunch, which was also a very memorable meal of quality. My wife had the homemade pie, I tackled the mega burger. Both meal selections were absolutely excellent, for quality and taste. The lunchtime meal for two, including coffees came to £18.00, for what we had, we both considered this to be excellent value. (The Homemade Pie and a Mega Burger)Would we return, yes, a great find, an ideal location for servicing our business needs. However, what would I change to have made my stay totally perfect, softer pillows would be a great improvement on the ones supplied, as the ones supplied were a little too firm for my liking.

I think it needs some TLC it looked a bit tired and dark.Having said that the food we had was very nice, though service was a bit slow.

A nice place to stay that had had sufficient people in the bar to make it homely even on a Monday night in March ( but no stale beer smell in the morning). Staff were really friendly and helpful. Everywhere was spotless and the room itself was nicely furnished and cosy. We will visit again. The only downside is that you have to eat out at night but there are a few good eateries within walking distance so not a big problem.

Stayed one night very nice staff, the room was spotlessly clean and a nice King size bed too!Decor very modern only small gripe is that the shower is a rain shower only and at 6' tall I only just managed standing under it without hitting hit. Also a holder for the shower gel would be nice, all in all though a very nice experience.

Glad we booked this B&B. The rooms and perhaps the whole place has been recently renovated. Our room, although small was well kitted our for our one night's stay. If we had been staying longer there would not have been enough room to hang clothes but everything else was perfect. Shower was also good. The bar area downstairs was probably the nicest in the village. The only thing missing was a decent daily menu, they only really served sandwiches. If they had a restaurant we would have stayed for a meal. The actual courthouse room was renovated so well and would have made a terrific restaurant venue, perhaps in the future?Staff were friendly too.

This place screams quality at a brilliant price.Nice little pub downstairs, helpful friendly staff. But it's a pub with rooms above it so I didn't know what to expect...Brand new carpets on the hall and stairs, little quotes painted on the wall. The door, as daft as it sounds, made me think "quality". But then you enter the room and its a wow moment! A stunning, modern, clean and comfortable room awaits. Attention to detail is paramount. They really have decorated this place with love. There is nothing here that's tacky, it's all quality. If you're in the area YOU HABE TO STAY HERE! I hope I get more work in the area so I can stay again. Great little place. Well done to the owners and their staff. A proper little gem...

This pub has had several people running it over the last year or so. The current people are very nice and seem to be settling in very well. It can get quite busy in there sometime but everyone seems friendly. There is a 'beer garden' which is nice on a sunny evening. Lookin for a pub in Thrapston then give this one a go.

This could be a lovely pub but unfortunately the manager keeps changing, Great for Real Ale and when they do it the Carvery is great ! Just changed management again in Feb-12 and its a shame the brewery cannot offer some stability in terms of the service. Hot or Miss. Post Feb Hit, now its a miss !

First visit for a while. Will need to go back again. Food really good, good size portions and served piping hot. Very reasonable prices as well.

Although the service in the cafe was slow and the staff forgot to bring me my order, the food was actually very tasty. However, the visit to the toilet was horrendous - the toilet seat in the unisex, accessible toilet had been left up to, to expose the most disgusting orange/brown urine staining (see photo's). I reported this to the store manager, who couldn't have been less interested - despite me showing her the toilet seat, she offered no apology, smiled and stated that it had already been reported and she was already aware of it. I believe she said that it was being addressed next week, so if anyone needs the toilet, you may be better to cross your legs until you can find somewhere more sanitary to use! Very annoyingly, the manager saw fit to speak to somebody on her headset whilst I was talking to her - really disrespectful and patronising. Really not the standard that I expected from Waitrose!
