A fantastic wet led pub with exceptional service. 6 cask ales all sourced from Yorkshire on my visit. Look out for the innovative food events which appear to be held on a monthly basis - they look too good to miss.

Great to see this Huddersfield pub in the hands of Beerhouses. Great beer and a friendly atmosphere. Excellent events and a great selection of beers in the fridge. Nice outside area with cover in parts to enjoy all year round. The staff are very knowledgeable and welcoming.

Nice little wet pub good real ale selection. Ideal for a drink prior to events at the town hall. Occasionally has pop up food events.

Real ale pub with seven handpumps. The bitter is excellent. It is a little gem that is worth seeking out, near to the town hall.

Visiting the area and got really lucky when we picked this pub for a quick pint. Good gluten free beer on tap, welcoming atmosphere and the loveliest staff who knew tons about brewing. Ended up staying for more beers and enjoying the nice vibe. Thank you!

Being City Person it was shocking to see only two people in the Pub. Bartender was so great and he gave quite nice drinks 10 stars for Bartender. But the Vibe of the place was really dull. Not so enjoyable music. Couldnt see any better drink options but Bartender gracelessly accepted one of our mix drink which we loved. Just giving this place 4 star because of Bar Tenders. I think place can be lil bit lively by adding some games may? Maybe change of music type? Maybe more cocktails options? All in all good place to be only if you want quite time. Oh and yes Drinks were quite reasonable

Thank you most sincerely for your excellent service and catering for our 50th anniversary reunion. The buffet food was delicious and provided everyone with a good selection of tasty options. You were very courteous and considerate and I really appreciate the effort of everyone involved in helping us to make the event a memorable one.

Lovely real ale bar in the town centre. Easy walking distance from bus and train stations. It was pretty quite on the Saturday afternoon of my visit, which I don't mind as no queue at the bar! Had a couple of pints of Craven - VIP which was bang on form. If I'm in the area again, I'll call in 👍🍻.

Recently done out nice pub lovely atmosphere.

Good choice of cask & keg. Low & non alcohol beer range needs a big improvement.

Fantastic beer selection. Really busy on match days which can lead to poor service but definitely worth the wait.

Didn't have food. I used to come here in the early 1990's whilst at Uni. It was the music student's pub of choice. After many years away, living in Nottingham, I returned to Hudds to live and work. I now come to The County after Town games. I love this place. Friendly and welcoming staff, lots of choice for proper beers. 4/5 cask ales, 4/5 craft beers along with some interesting lager choices and wine/spirits. Great atmosphere with friendly clientele, often boosted by crowds from Town Hall events such as concerts or Brass Band contests. Lovely little games room at the back of the pub, where on quiet nights you can shut yourself away with friends/family to play board games or just chat.

Disappointed. No food. Drinks are a bit pricey.

Called in on a Sunday evening and was told they were shutting at 8 , Three weeks before it was still open at 9.30 we never know if it's open or closed.

Since Beerhouses took charge, this place has definitely improved. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great constantly changing range of cask beers, great food (sometimes free). Challenging The Sportsman, The Grove and The King's Head for top of my list of favourite local pubs.

First time I've been in years and it's still wonderful. Amazing beer selection, a warm welcome and sensible prices!

Great pub . Had music festival on when I was in. Quieter than somenpubs in Huddersfield. Still building up custom. Great beer worth a visit

This pub is great the bar staff and beers and wine they have on offer are great. Its a proper old school pub with a nice Morden twist. They have a really nice out door area for when the sun's out and benches so you can eat food

21/07/23: back again. Pub stop number 6 on our Huddersfield Ale Trail. Discrete outside area [photo update] 16/06/23: fantastic place. Good selection of craft ale. Art Deco styling inside. Warm, friendly and welcoming pub. Chilled out vibes! A lovely little find! Dog friendly.

Great real ale house ...good range and bar man was letting us know info where there from and flavours...pork scratching on sale there to...and food looks nice ...very relaxed place

Was fairly quiet when I was in. However, nice place and a decent offering of beers.

Updating this after a year since ownership change. Food events are always good, function room space is really practical and useful. Beer range is decent and caters for most tastes. Beer garden now has covering which is great and the jukebox has been removed (thank god). Always somewhere to consider after visiting the town hall or travelling between the Rat and Rachet/The Grove and the train station. Highly recommend adding it to your usual stops such as Kings Head, Magic Rock and The Sportsman.

A lovely welcoming bar with a good selection of real ales on hand pump. I was there on a hot day and asked for a soda water (in between pints) it was free of charge. Well impressed. Was in Huddersfield fir the Ukulele festival will definitely be back to the County when we return next year.

A lovely small bar with a good selection of beer, wine and cocktails. The bar staff are friendly and welcoming and there was a live Jazz quartet playing too.

Stunning food, really nice pub, very relaxing afternoon

Excellent pub, great beer, and even some of the staff are nice. Food menu has a great balance of classics and new efforts, and the quality of the food is very good. They have a superb cook who knows her stuff. Cosy beer garden, eclectic playlists on at a reasonable volume.

Waited so long for our food then when it did come it wasn’t value for money at all I was still hungry after I ate I had a moo moo bbq sandwich which came on a warburtons tea cake and a few green leafs and a chopped tomato the plate of food was tiny , won’t be going back again none of us there was 4 of us !!!

5 well kept hand pulled beers, could be 6! Brew York's Caracara IPA, hazy, juicy worth a glass. Keenly priced menu.

A medium sized glass of wine in here is far too expensive.

On the rare occasions we go to town, we usually meet here.The staff are friendly and there is a beer garden that people might not know about.

Great beers but can get very busy if there's something popular going off in the town hall across the road

They used to queue outside every lunchtime here in it's heyday with good food and good beer. Now modernised and having changed hands it still has great beer and a very good selection of real ales even if on the expensive side but having visited the other day on a lunchtime with a friend I can tell you the food is absolutely awful now and no wonder there was no one else there. So if you want good beer go there but for food give it a swerve.

Jazzy bar which others a wide range of craft ales. The vibe of the venue is classy and cool. Feels a bit like a hidden gem.

Excellent service and great choice of beer

Visited this pub a couple of years ago and had a fantastic time. Always looked forward to going back so called in last night. just a few people in dancing to some Northern Soul DJ. The noise level had to be illegal. How the employees put up with it I do not know. One drink and I left before my ears exploded. I'm a big fan of live rock music but this level of sound was just ridiculous.

Have walked past before, now under new ownership I ventured in. Revamped, it appears that it is trying to establish a new place in the Huddersfield market. With a good wide range of beers, it has a more snazzy decor in line with other beer houses pubs. I will be visiting again! Hopefully it will gain in popularity as word spreads.

I was pleased to see this pub re-opening with 6 cask ales on. Complements its Huddersfield sister pub The Sportsman very well indeed. Top job by Beerhouses. Nicely refurbished, friendly bar staff, decent food (from what I saw and overheard from nearby diners), couldn't really ask for more. Well, two more cask ales, perhaps?

Nice interior, quite, expensive

Excellent pub rescued from a keg only venue by the people who run the Sportsman, 6 local real ales plus real German bier ( Paulaner) and 4 craft beers. Just off the pedestrian area in the town centre. Food now being served at lunchtime, not tried but looks good value.

Just popped in for a quick pint. It was a very very slow Friday afternoon. Just a couple of observations... The beer garden sign should be moved... You can't see the direction of the garden when the beer garden door is open... There no direction sign for the toilets.

Called today 27/4, no warm welcome, landlord was around but did not even say hello. Drinks prices were the dearest we have paid anywhere in town, £9 for a pint and a regular glass of wine, so needless to say we will not be calling again.
