After reading all the reviews me and my partner thought we would give it a go as was only down the road. What a mistake that was, the staff were friendly but food was shocking. Will not be coming back.

Went there on a Tuesday evening, (billboards, website said it served food then and that they had 2 bars and a restuarant). I asked for a table for 2 and was told that: 'all the talbles were booked @for bingo'. We did not eat and will not be going back. tells you everything.......

Food is lovely, shame about the service though. Waiting to be served at our table for ages, whilst you could see the staff in the kitchen talking loudly for everyone to here. very unprofessional.

The new owners have made a great job so far, now they are open all day Saturday and Sunday and the food is excellent with a great choice from their new menu. We all had the Sunday roast with five veg followed by their homemade sultana sponge, lovely and excellent value. The staff were excellent and very professional and attentive . There is a fine choice of beers including Timothy Taylor Landlord and Doom Bar and they do a double up deal on spirits. This has always been a fine pub and still very popular

Had a meal with my brother who is a local last month, when we visit him we use this pub a lot, it has a new management now and things are sliding, food not as good and the portion sizes have shrunk too, the menu looks to be the same but the cooking was poor, my lasagna was under cooked and the girls favourite moussaka was a different recipe which they said was awful, a real shame really as used to be good, sorry won't be returning.

Ate lunch here today after not visiting for some months. It was as good as we remembered it. Lovely home made food and reasonable bar. Nice seating outside for a day like today.

Good honest pub grub. Reasonable price well prepared and fresh - great greek salad! One slight issue was the seating was a little uncomfortable, a few cushons scattered about for general use would help.

We eat here regularly. The food is always good traditional style food - roasts, pies, burgers, curries, with several vegetarian options and salads. Always tasty and good value.

Would have been nice if they told me this fact when seen waiting outside in the cold for 20 minutes for them to open (was on a walk with nowhere else around)

We went here on a busy Saturday evening. The food is all cooked freshly and not bought in. We had a short wait for our meal but we were kept well informed. The owner and staff were charming.

On the plus side the staff are friendly and the service was good. The interior is not to my taste but that's purely subjective. On the negative side the steak burgers were rather bland and uninspired. At £10 + per head they should have be far better in comparison to what other restaurants deliver for the same price if not less.3 Ales on tap but the one I asked for was not available. The red wine was good according to my wife. So "average" is the overall verdict, but since the downfall was the food I don't think we'll be back in a hurry.

Another visit to the Countryman and another excellent meal! This is a warm, friendly and welcoming establishment with a really lovely atmosphere. The Sunday roast was tasty, well cooked and a decent size, as was the dessert. The service was also first class. I would not hesitate to recommend the Countryman for anyone looking for good, honest and quality food at a reasonable price.

There is a really pretty seating area out the back. Inside it was spotlessly clean and quaint. It is a bigger than you think from the outside but is still nice and cozy. Food was excellent, we had a steak which was beautiful. Followed by to die for sundaes, honeycomb and chocolate brownie. We were welcomed when we arrived and were served by lovely staff that were suitably dressed and had crisp white aprons on, much nicer than skimpy tops etc. All in all a lovely evening, as our local pub has been closed this last 6 months we have found somewhere to pop to when we fancy a evening out or a quick drink!

Friendly staff, good service, good value prices. Offers a limited range of usual pub favourites, and I gather this main menu remains essentially the same, but with changing specials to extend it. I had steak pie with hand-cut chips and a variety of vegetables, and it was one of the three best I've ever had in an English pub. My wife was impressed with her fish and chips and peas, with home-made tartare sauce. Glynis, the cook, certainly knows her job. Recommended.

Friendly staff, warm welcome from waitress and barman. We had freshly cooked lobster on a special seafood evening. It was good.Dessert (reheated crepe with banana filling and a drizzle of tasteless chocolate sauce) was disappointing and so was my Sauvignon Blanc.

Was recommended this pub by the owners of the guest house I was staying in. First tried it on the 16th September, food was very good (Seafood platter), service was excellent, waitress very friendly. Decided to come here the following night, the barlady even remembered my drink from the previous night (bitter top) again, sat down to a starter and main. Pub was much busier than the night before, but the service was still very good with food coming out in good time and very well prepared. I shall certainly be using this place again next time I'm in the area.

My Husband and I were treated for our Anniversary to a meal at our Friends Local, The Countryman. We were impressed with our first impressions as they have a lovely garden area with outside seating and a view that would please anyone with the lovely flowers on display. We had made a reservation and were greeted nicely. Service was great, very attentive and asked if everything was ok. I have to admit I had the best Gammon Steak I've ever had, most tender, moist and flavoursome it left me wanting more. Great menu with lots of Vegetarian options for my Husband. He went with one of the specials that sounded amazing and didn't disappoint. It was the FIsh Platter, great selection of different fishes and he said the best homemade fish cake he's ever eaten. We decided to splash on a desert. We all had Ice Cream Sundae's which were out of this world. I'm not a huge fan of ice cream but this was packed with fresh raspberries, sauce and cream it was AWESOME. Good value for money and I would definitely go back again. Thanks for a special evening!

Warm welcome, fabulous food, great service. We were recommended this pub by the B and B we stayed at. Managed to arrive before many others and were seated in the restaurant area but more seats are available in the pub. Seafood platter was best I've tasted, accommodating pernickety seasoning needs! Definitely worth stopping for.

The owners of this pub on the A140 in Tasburgh know how a pub should be run. Food is all home made. Fantastic attentive waitresses who know what's available on the menu and can describe dishes. How these girls haven't been head-hunted goodness only knows. Food attractively presented and delicious. Weekday lunchtime menus include free dessert. Pretty flower baskets and planters surround outside eating area. Plenty of parking spaces. Variety of special evenings advertised. It was a pleasure to visit this pub.

We had a large party of 8 people for a family birthday and were seated very well in the function room. The service received from waiting staff was very good. Our main meals were very good quality for a local pub - The Beef Pie and the Fish & Chips were exceptional. The desserts were of average quality. If the landlord could improve his desserts it would have been 5/5.I would go here again for good quality pub food.

A warm welcome from The Countryman on a cold, wet and miserable December Friday. Although the pub was crowded with a large party enjoying a Christmas meal we were warmly welcomed. Service was efficient and friendly and the food arrived promptly. Not gourmet food but hot and well cooked. Average selection of real ale, well kept and pleasant. Plenty of parking and ouside seating for warmer weather.

3 of us had lunch here. We all chose something different and each dish was great. Everything was lovely and fresh. The soup was homemade with a generous portion of bread. The sandwich from the specials was accompanied by two types of salad as was the sausage roll. The service was efficient and friendly too. I highly recommend.

We came on 14/10/24 for a family wake. Mandy and Simon did an amazing job of making the room welcoming and accommodating us with all our wishes. The service and food were of excellent quality with a very fair price and there was plenty for all. It was so nice that even the cakes were iced in the favourite colours of our late family member, not requested but we felt was such a lovely added touch. Thank you Mandy and Simon, we would definitely recommend you.

Found the cafe purely by accident, on the High Street, stopping in Loddon for something to do on a rather autumnal day. You will find it near to the take away and funeral services, but don't let that deter you...So glad we popped in! Wide choice of cakes and some savouries, including vegan and/or gluten free. Huge pot of tea! Pretty tea room, very well equipped single toilet. Family affair, mother and two daughters bake everything on site. Long chat with lovely Lisa, so enthusiastic about their business. We only tasted a quiche and blackberry cake, but goodness, so delicious, and if a hint of other produce from their fine hands, well worth a further visit or cake order. Apparently mum Julie runs craft classes upstairs too.. talented family. We wish you continued success and will hopefully see you next holiday.
