The Country Park Inn in East Riding of Yorkshire

Avoid ! The food unfortunately is so dry , order taken wrongly . Manager sat there on her lap top was more interested brushing her hair in the mirror than supporting the junior member who was obviously out of his depth . Food came with apologies with what was missing ( already paid for ) note to manager read the feedback and act on it ! Ps please serve a tea in a tea pot not the over flowing cup with a bag in it . Ps for anyone that’s reading this in 10 years I have given 2 negative feedbacks .

We went for lunch, having had a good experience there a couple of years ago. How much it’s gone downhill! Ordered 2 starters, followed by 2 main courses. On ordering a buttermilk chicken burger, was informed that they had none, so I changed the order to a beef burger. 2 starters and a main course all arrived together, shortly after being told they didn’t have all the ingredients for one of the starters. Provided cutlery after the food arrived, but it still had smears of food on it, so collected more cutlery. Eventually the beef burger arrived, only it didn’t. The beef burger I ordered had been changed to a grilled chicken breast without any communication. The chicken was rock hard, tasteless and like eating leather. Without doubt the worst food I’ve had in ages, I couldn’t chew the chicken and had to leave it. When clearing up, I was asked if we had finished. My response that I couldn’t eat it, it’s awful was met with silence. Awful food, terrible service. Avoid.

Friendly staff, good view and decent food. Perhaps the menu was a tad limited but on the whole was pleased with our experience and would definitely go again.

What has happen with this pub since 2024, twice we have called at non peak times with not many in,we were going to eat but could not find a clean table, two members of staff were stood chatting behind the bar, the next time was monday 8th April same thing walked in to see dirty pots on the first two tables and they were like that for about 10 mins, staff just dont have a clue,what do they learn in there training,we wont be going back.

Wished I'd read the reviews before calling in after a walk. Seems to have gone downhill considerably since the reviews from December. only 2 staff on although they were polite and helpful. Took 30 mins from ordering to serve Haloumi Flatbread and chips £14 and Hickery Chicken, peas and chips £17. Chicken dry, lacked cheese, peas like bullets, oven chips. Haloumi flatbread, just warm. Expensive for a poor quality meal. View lovely though. Could have looked at that for free though outside.

Great setting amazing views of Humber Bridge, However do not expect a good dining experience Food menu described as fresh food this is a total misrepresentation of what you will receive let alone the service we ordered our meals and one element did not arrive despite our polite reminder to the staff we approached the duty supervisor who offered no apology as he had only been there a week and his motor cycle had been stolen we asked to speak to the manager who eventually attended but couldn't really offer any explanation other than a voucher to return ? Who would return after receiving food which was unedible and of poor quality ! Great setting but requires a huge change of Staff and management to turn it into the place to eat and enjoy

Booked for a mothers day treat and it really didnt dissapoint we all had a carvery and sticky toffee pudding all totally delicious staff memebers Adam and Jacob where lovely and delivered excellent service ,will definatly come again ,highly recommend thank you.

Decided to visit as had heard good things, beautiful setting, staff were friendly, their menu states fresh food not fast food… we ordered two scampi and chips… very disappointed, chips were oven baked not home made and hard, peas were like bullets and the scampi not great… hate spending money when food is not good. We booked a table for a family birthday. When we first walked in, we were initially struck by just how messy the entire restaurant appeared. Dirty tables outside and inside and a lovely bit of toilet roll outstretched near the bar. We took our table then went up and ordered. The order was taken and we returned to the table. A few moments later we were told our food would take around 40 minutes and “is that ok?” To be honest no, it wasn’t ok, we had booked our table, placed our order so at the point we had little choice but to wait. The food actually arrived more like 60 minutes later. When it did, one item was still missing, the fries were lukewarm and its presentation was clearly rushed. The meals were satisfactory no more than that. We did intend to have deserts but given how long we had been there at this point we just chose to leave. As a small note the toilet roll was still laid on the floor 2 hours later, tables outside were still covered in dirty plates and glasses. Such a shame as the restaurant is in a great location and could be really nice if ran better.

Had an excellent carvery last year so visited again today and wish we hadn’t. Staff were flapping around so we had to sit ourselves down at a dirty table and when we ordered we wasnt informed it was no longer self service so had to wait nearly an hour with a one year old for a cold small portion of a Yorkshire, three thin cuts of beef and three small roast potato’s with a bowl of boil in a bag veg - £31! And after the server brought the wrong order, that staff member muttered f**k off to my partner while he was walking away, which the table next to us heard. We were rightfully refunded and left the sad excuse of the food. We will no longer be returning and encourage others to do the same.

Very disappointing. Web site very inviting but didn’t live up to expectations. Lovely position on estuary nice building from outside but inside very tired furnishing and in need of painting and a good clean. Toilet area inadequate only one ladies loo which was cramped scruffy and not sparkling clean. Handle on disabled loo door hanging off. Limited menu three out of four meals ok. Fish and chips fourth meal mostly batter and very small tail fillet with pile of chips to fill plate. Staff were lovely very friendly but perhaps not enough of them. Total bill for four pub meals no drinks was £53 which we didn’t think good value.

Lunch was advertised .. even on the day on the chalk board walls No mention that it actually wasn't a carvery when we arrived and even when you pay in advance at the bar .. the food wasn't great. The meat .. beef was a little tough the veg seemed out of a packet also the stuffing very undesirable and the whole meal wasn't piping hot Lastly the plates were swimming in gavy .. i'd at least expect a jug of gravy The staff were polite and friendly

Birthday meal for one of my children. Five of us all together. Absolutely fabulous food, more like a gourmet restaurant than a pub, but at pub prices. Highly recommend. 🥂😀

Gone down hill pretty quickly. Service is usually good amd efficient, however today no sign of a manager or anyone that cared. No energy within the team. The Food took ages to come out and the food was cold, when I complained the waitress said she would get the manager, and I'm still waiting. 2 days later! Hopefully someone can reply back to me and our disappointment we had on Sunday

Had some decent meals here the chicken wraps particularly good But called today for Sunday lunch but disappointed had the Lebanese chicken flat bread and two starters . The were all fetched at the time so we sent the main course when it cam back after we had finished our starters it was dried up and obviously just been warmed up . We complained and the cooked a fresh one unfortunately the flatbread was like leather could not even chew it and salad was not good . So will try Sunday lunch next time

We had pre booked a table in advance for a large party of us including several children. We had preordered meals also in advance. We were visiting for a special occasion of my sister in laws 40th birthday and every part was a disappointment. The table was not initially clear when our party arrived, they had no high chairs for the two babies in our party - even though we had specifically asked for these when making the booking. The carvery, which we had preordered, we were told would be about an hour wait and they had also run out of beef. This seems to defeat the point of asking us to preorder. We made the difficult decision to leave and try and go elsewhere which as a large group at 3.30 on a Sunday afternoon is incredibly difficult, hence pre booking and preordering. We had already ordered drinks and paid for them before being told of the long wait and lack of options on the carvery. The member of staff dealing with us offered nothing to compensate for ruining this occasion. I felt our drinks should have been refunded seeing as they had wasted our time. We chose not to give them any more of our money and thankfully went somewhere even nicer. The staff members did not seem too bothered about the mess up and did very little to try and solve our issues. Especially considering they were caused by themselves. I would not reccomend visiting here. Other tables left as we did after being told different wait times for food.

Service was horrible because my friend's dad ordered a burger with mushrooms and he didn't get them and the waiter proceeded to argue with him l.

Still in shock we WON a free wedding from the country park… and what an amazing day it was. If you’re thinking of getting married here, absolutely go for it. The views are just incredible, the venue was spacious for all of our family and friends and was so nice to do it all in one place. The food was amazing, we couldn’t have had a better day 🤍 Katie the co ordinator was amazing start to finish, arranged to meet us for all our plans, told us everything we needed to know, and importantly made us feel so calm on the day. We’ll always be great full that you gave us our one special day 🥰🤍🤍🤍🤍

Just left this place with full bellys and smiles on our faces. We saw an amazing sunset over the river,a couple of pints and great food looking out over the estuary. Service was excellent, professional, friendly and really welcoming. We've been a couple of times and always leave happy.

Came in for a quick lunch at weekend. Quick and efficient service. I was served by Macy who is a real credit to the team, Macy went above and beyond and catered for everything I needed. She was thorough and explained everything what was needed to know . I felt welcomed and overall enjoyed my experience at the country park and will definitely be visiting again and hopefully will get to have a lovely chat with Macy when we come back.

Had tea with friends last night, staff were excellent in every way, the restaurant was very covid safe, the food was nice, the only downfall was the choice of food. The menu was very limited and nearly all the main courses were served with chips or the food was fried but everything else was fine. I would definately go again if more dishes were added to the menu.

Apart from staff wearing masks there are no covid measures in place. There is no one to show you to a table and you have to order at the bar. No hand sanitiser at the entrance! All tables were either reserved or had leftovers on them. We were shouted at by a member of staff when we asked for a table to be cleaned because we had sat down at it. We were then shouted at again for taking some cutlery from another table. At this point we thought enough is enough and we asked for a refund so we could leave at which the same member of staff shouted no and walked off. I have never experienced such rude obnoxious staff in my life I was utterly shocked at the way we were treated. After queuing at the bar we were finally given a refund and loudly told to leave, obviously done to embarrass us in front of the queue of people waiting to order. The restaurant was also far from clean with dead flies on the window sill and peoples leftovers on tables. I won’t even mention the menu as it has already been covered by other reviewers. If only we had checked recent reviews! It is such a shame as we like to pop in for coffee or drinks when visiting the country park but after this experience we will not be going again. We went to Papas Fish and Chips, Willerby instead, what a contrast!! Fantastic service, friendly welcoming staff, covid measures in place and lovely clean restaurant - highly recommend.

Visited this restaurant on 11 Aug to take advantage of the eat out to help out scheme. Very disappointed with the standard & quality of food along with the attitude of the staff. Menu very limited and my chicken strips & fries were just that. No side salad or care with presentation. Same with the burger & fries my 2 family members ordered. Before our food arrived we were asked by a staff member are you eating or just having a drink, we said eating they then asked but have you ordered your food, we said yes & he then said well can you be out by 5pm (this was at 3.40pm). He was rude, abrupt and unfriendly and certainly didn't make us feel like we were customers there to enjoy our visit. The gov scheme is a great idea but with the food we were offered, it wasn't barely worth the half price we paid for it. You've let yourselves down Country park at a time where you should be welcoming any customers with open arms instead of making them feel they were in the way.

We went here on the 10th August as a family of four. The quality of the food was very poor and portion sizes small. I have never been to a pub where a side of peas/beans with your meal cost £3 extra, especially at the cost of food on the menu. Whilst we benefitted from the Eat Out to Help out Scheme, I still felt ripped-off. They clearly have got the concept of this scheme all wrong. It's not about serving customers poor quality food just because they are only paying 50% of the price, It's about getting customers into your pub/restaurant, giving them good quality food, on days they wouldn't normally go out to eat, in the hope they will be repeat customers at a later date (which we won't be). Let's face it, they will be claiming back the full price from the government. £10.50 for four small dry chicken strips and a few scrappy chips, and £11 for 8 pieces of cheap scampi is expensive (this wouldn't be our normal choice, but the options were very limited!) It's a real shame that this pub is serving rubbish food, especially considering the location. On a positive note the lady behind the bar was very friendly, albeit the manager/owner was running around getting mad with his staff!

Gorgeous food, very generous portion sizes. Would be helpful if it were dog friendly as there are lovely walks nearby.

We had the In-Laws up visiting us, and despite it being 'Valentine's' weekend, and stormforce Dennis kicking in, we decided to go for a meal here. As it was an event weekend, there was an optional 'set menu'. For the very reasonable price of £65 a couple, you got a 3 course meal and a bottle of house wine. Where the in-Laws are particular in their taste on wine, the house wine was a bit too sweet for them, so they graciously swapped it for a bottle of Pinot with no additional charge, very nice of them. When we got there they took us to our table, one of the ones reserved in the window area overlooking the Humber [I'd imagine in the Spring/Summer this would be a lovely view...but the storm winter night wasnt quite appealing...but you cannot be held accountable for the UK weather].The table had a hadnwritten name plaque, and was garnished with glitter hearts and rose petals on, with some nice ambient lighting surrounding the area. For the starters 3 of us had the Prawn Cocktails...which were massive! The other started was a carrot and corriander soup.For mains there were 2 tender and tasty steaks, 1 had a Salmon dish, and the other was a creamed chicken affair. For the dessert, each couple had a sharing plate which had a piece of vanilla cheesecake, a sticky, gooey choc pudding, some strawberries dipped in Belgium choc, and a custard tartlet.The food was very nice and enjoyed by all. The portion size overall for the 3 course was actually a bit on the large side....they could probably cut back on the prawns, and the dessert sharing platter, made bit more profit for them, and we would still have had full bellies and a feeling of good value!The only area of improvement I would have suggested is that there was almost no time at all between each course...and we prefer to let each one digest a little before the next one. Unfortunately whilst that would be fine for us...I'm sure if they did have a break in between, someone else might put a review saying they had to wait and it was terrible. Guess you cannot please all of the people all of the time.For us, despite the rather unpleasent weather, we went there and had a very nice evening with some good food in a great location and fun company. So our experience was very good. We will be revisiting to try the carvery at some point in the near future.

Absolutely horrendous Food. Don’t bother.. my daughter has emailed to complain again as well as she did on the night.. nobody even bothered to get back to her..

We came here as a family of 14, for a 60th birthday meal, who prebooked and gave our menu choices a week early. We booked a table for 5.30pm and finally got main course at 7.10pm. We also ordered extra fries to come out with mains but they came out at 6.30pm and then when we requested them when meal came out 40 mins later they didn’t come out at all. One of the Garlic breads was that hard it was not edible so we asked for another one again that didn’t come out. Some of the lasagnes had meat burnt at the bottom to the point you couldn’t cut it with a knife. The staff were not apologetic they were not focused on Customer service or making sure we had a lovely time to become repeat customers which of course we will not... they have ruined my Mother in laws 60th birthday. Don’t waste your time or money at this establishment

Just been for a family Sunday lunch !It all looked really appetising , but was really disappointed with meal !The beef looked really nice pink in the middle so we opted for beef as it looked really good .Well looks can be deceiving and they was the beef was ever so tough , my wife couldn’t even eat hers , we told the chap behind the Carvery who offered us other meats instead , but at that didn’t want anything else . For a place whats associated with the mill house restaurant I was expecting a better meal than what I got , to be fair I’ve had better meals from over carvery places in Hessle, wil love a while before we go back again

Popped by for some lunch with children after a long walk burning off energy, got a table easily and served at the bar easily. There were a few issues with the childrens picnic boxes but turned out positive as the kids got a larger chocolate bar and got to choose their crisps etc but the main issue was when I left the table to take my children to the toilet.. my plate got completely cleared away. I questioned a male staff member who was a bit rude about it and said it was a plate.. nothing else had been touched or cleared away and admittedly only a quarter of a sandwich, some salad and coleslaw remained but his attitude was not good. He came back and said we'll replace half your sandwich before 5 minutes later a young confused waitress delivered another full sandwich with no sides on the plate. My gripe isnt the mistake but lack of apology and how it was handled, it was a shame one waiters attitude spoiled it as all the other waitresses were lovely. We would probably return though as even though not the cheapest the food was nice and the location is great.

We ordered a pizza as a snack with drinks whilst exercising the dog lovely sunshine, no wind to go sitting outside with dog and a view over the Humber. Drank the drinks and after 45mins went to find a pizza. Staff said was only ordered 5mins before..... They forgot that a card receipt has the time. When I went in to request a refund due to the fact we were now cold, sunshine had gone and dog was fed up. They went off to find someone to take responsibility .. no apology just pass the buck.Magically a pizza had appeared! No wonder nobody else had food outside they knew what we found out, food service standard means no one will return.

the food is hot. well cooked. generous portions of meat. drinks are of a fair price. the staff go out of the way to make sure you are well taken care off. well worth a second visit

I ordered a chilli pasta and tomatoe garlic bread. My pasta was cold and over powered with chilli making the meal unbearable to eat. The tomatoe garlie bread had no taste of garlic and wasn't cooked. So a meal I paid about £14 for wasnr worth eating. There was no check in and sat with a broken foot I couldn't go up to inform anyone. When they came to clear it they came back and said yes the waiter and the chef smelt the pasta was over powering and the bread dosnt looked cooked and offered me a drink. I explained it was the first time in a while I could go out for food and I was disappointed and I dodnt want a drink, i explained that i paid at the point of order otherwise i wouldn't pay for somethingike that. The waiter stated he wouldn't refund as I ate over half of the pasta which I explained I really did not. He took the plate and left. I wouldn't go back and waste money on not even good service and on sub standard food.
