Good food, good service, at a decent price

This is about the pub not the hotel. We use it fairly regularly with friends for lunch and find it very good excellent service and good food. So understand my disappointment when we used it for a large family meal. Which I booked three weeks prior to be sure. I had to go there the week before to alter the numbers from 15 to 13 and discussed it at the time as to seating, only to go on the night and nothing had been reserved and they didn’t know anything about it till they went on line. The number had reduced to 13 through illness so we were put on a table that only seated 10, on speaking to the staff they moved us to a table for 12 and then put the reserved notice on it ( bit late but there you go). We arranged another small table to take the last person. I must say that the rest of the night was fine and the staff were as usual very friendly and the food was fine, but the organisation is not so great so beware. Also there were 13 witnesses to what happened and there was no booking on the diary on the desk.

Only used the restaurant but was really nice, staff where friendly and again food was really nice.

Had a meal here Sunday night. Food was very tasty and we wasn’t waiting too long. A really nice place to eat out.

Excellent service friendly staff how it should be recommended who’s passing through or your local excellent play area for young children to keep them busy what a wonderful experience and set up

Myself and my family come here when money allows. It’s up the road from us so it’s easy to get to. The staff who work here are always pleasant and friendly. The food is always good. The weekends get busy and it’s advised to book. We come during the week and can just walk in and find a table with ease. Mondays are great as kids eat for £1 with a paying adult.

Food and service were both top notch :) Josh was most helpful and attentive, nothing was too much trouble, will return.

Price was cheap but I have used other hungry horse restaurants on the mix grill the gammon was the size of the pineapple ring the steak has got smaller the sausage look like they have been on a diet no mushroom the pepper sauce tastes like it all pepper the garlic bread was small won't be going there again other places out there you get a good meal

Arrived for tea the pub was empty plenty of seating available however we was told they couldn't accommodate a group of 13.

Went for carvery on Sunday, very disappointed. Food not very hot, food seemed like it had been kept warm for ages, hard mash, hard roasts, green beans horrible, yorkshire too hard. Won't be returning.

Decent food that’s always good enough. Better value than stuff like McDonald’s.

We did not go to the hotel, however we did have lunch in the 'Hungry Horse' pub/restaurant that is attached to it. Excellent food with a great choice to cover all tastes, child friendly and the menu is set at a very good price point. I would recommend this venue for food and drink and we will definitely be going there again for lunch.

The new breakfast menu is banging!!!! Friendly staff if you are reading this because you're deciding on where to go and have some breakfast then there is still time you should go here - do it now you will not regret it

I went for a two for 11.99 meal with drinks today and asked was the offer on and the lady on the bar said yes so I ordered. When I sat down I realised I had been overcharged so I asked was this right and she said because you payed separately it was full price. I said It was one table so it should not matter and she said no it's because you payed separately. I told her it was stupid. I won't be coming back and I will make sure my family and friends don't either. She should have said before I payed that amount and if this is correct (which I doubt) it should be stated on the menu (which it is not).

I had to leave another review as i cant comment on initial one. I ordered both so on that table at the same time just payed separately as I am a Care worker and I am unable to use my card to pay as it is against policy (not that I have to explain myself) so it was wrong on your point.

Beds could do with up dating Think you should have walk in showers for elderly Apart from that it was perfect 🥰 thank you

Go for a meal quite often here in summer the meals are usually pretty ok you get what you pay for but went on Saturday and and it was terrible I got the burger crown the burgers where dry and horrible the fries where crispy with nothing inside and the rest of my family all said there meals were awful too

Staff are so friendly food is lovely great place to take the family also breakfast 2 for 1 on weekdays bargain but they need to put a second entrance near hotel would make easier access from the path would recommend friends and family to dine here 🙂.

I'm a wheelchair user and this pub has plenty of space for me to get around. Staff always ask if the table is suitable for me. Service is great, even when they're busy. If you order on the app it seems to be a quicker experience. Extensive menu certainly appears to have something for everyone, like our 6yr old grandson who is an extremely fussy eater but he loves it here - even me, who recently had Gastric Sleeve Surgery and can only eat certain things, has found food I can eat and staff give me foil bags to take my leftovers home as I can only eat small quantities now. They also slightly amended a pudding so I could have it. Staff are always friendly and can't do enough for the customer. I haven't personally stayed in the hotel section of Kingstown but my parents have and they said the room was on par with Premier Inn/Travelodge rooms where you are provided with tea/coffee making facilities, the rooms were also nice and quiet being set back from the road.

We went to The Kingstown for an evening meal with our toddler, they were kind enough to sit us even though they were fully booked. The staff were all really friendly and will genuinely go out of their way to help you. The food was as you would expect, not the best not the worst, you know your not expecting home cooked food etc it is what it is and was nice. The ball pit seemed quite dirty which our toddler was playing in and my partner thinks some of the balls were covered in mould, pictures attached. Overall it's a nice place, friendly atmosphere, reasonably priced and the owners seem to take all feedback onboard so it's constantly and consistently improving.

The food is pretty much what you pay for. I ordered waffles and it was £3.99 and it came with 5 small slithers or bacon with eggs and two toaster waffles. The staff are lovely and it’s a very friendly environment! They are very chatty and very kind, there is lots for your little kids such as TVs in the booths that shows kids shows 🤭

Had a meal with my partner and 10 year old lad.he ordered the build your own tacco.after an hour he was very sick.all over the car and all over the house all night.definatly food poisoning.stay away not recommended at all.young Shef with no experience at all

Large and clean room equipped with all accessories: hairdryer, iron, kettle, etc. Uncovered parking in front of the property. A little out of the way from Hull. Breakfast is served in the attached restaurant.

The food was amazing, one of the best pub meals I have ever had. Definitely coming again 👍.

Great service and friendly staff

First of all I'll state that this is very local to me and I mean within 5 mins walk. But that aside, the food is well cooked, tasty and reasonably priced. The staff/service is always top and have never had no reason to complain. The pub itself is very clean and large with a large children's play area with an outside playground too. I've never stayed in the hotel so I can't comment but also there is a very large car park and is rarely too full. Please visit.

came in for food and it was ok. Food came out fast and hot as expected. Georgia served us multiple times and she couple haven’t been more caring, making sure all our needs were tended to. Would highly recommend her to anyone visiting. Great job Georgia, be seeing you next time hopefully

Great combination of dinner and play for kids. Very useful especially as I don't always rate ball pool foods so having a gastro pub next to it is a bonus.

Have visited a few times before and food was always average/poor. Went last week and must admit, it was a lot nicer! We had the Katsu platter and you get a lot for your money and it was pretty tasty.

Always served with a smile and never get our order wrong, nice to come with the children so they get to play, the food is always cooked to our requirements and very tasty and filling and the array of drinks is immense for both soft and alcohol drinks. Love to come here with the family we live about 3 miles away so we class this as an easy place to visit.

Stayed here for approx. a year on and off , ideal for work. Staff are very friendly and polite, a special shout to Georgia, Lisa, Dave and Jenny.

Only ever ate at Kingstown which has always been excellent food and service, I am told by various other people that have stayed that the rooms are very good for the price.

Booked a table for my sons birthday for eight family members. My son actually works here but was joining us as a guest too 😊 As we have previously experienced, great staff, and great food, delicious, hot and wow what a menu! Highly recommended.

The staff are amazing there is a lady called Megan and right away she asked if anyone in our party had any allergies so we told her we also asked if the children's meals could come out first and they did. We have also planned to go there for my daughter's 9th birthday on Saturday and she has booked us a table and booked us in to the play area. Megan was amazing with everything that she done the drinks taking our order and asking for any allergies. The food was amazing the stake was cook to perfection definitely coming back again.

We popped in for lunch and it was great. At the moment there are some of the classics available Mon to Fri for £5 each. Love a bargain. Food was what you would expect from a Greene King pub. Service was really quick, food was hot, staff were really friendly and attentive. There are loads of great offers on throughout the week like Wine Weds, and Bogof Burgers on a Friday. I will definitely be going back.

Went for breakfast with santa 2nd year we have done this, disappointed that the adults was not allowed to order food from the menu this year and was only offered a waffle stack for £5.99 due to a strain on the kitchen.... but we could go through into the pub and order food (which we obviously couldn't do as my grandaughter was eating with santa)

Have boycotted this place now for over a year as food was rubbish, thought would try it again on saturday night wish i hadn't no improvements at all food came cold and over cooked its not a hard menu for a chef to cook and get right staff are not very helpful either i would avoid this place at all costs worst food around hedon area !!!

We brought my little girl to play on her birthday on the 10th Sept, we have been many times before but Sarah really made the effort for her and spoilt her with treats and a big ice cream which had everything on it, she was lovely, very polite and great with the kids.

We arrived at hungry horse at 4.45pm, to have family time, before I leave for university. First of all we wasn’t greeted or felt welcome, the staff was slow and un organised. we tried to find a seat. However, the table had melted ice cream plates on it. So I moved it on a table, as my mother asked for the table to be clean. We then ordered our food. However, the woman at the till with glasses, wasn’t listening properly to our order. I then had to ask if she understood as she looked confused and distressed. Furthermore, after ordering our meal. 20 mins later realised we could use student discount. We then ordered some more drinks and asked about student discount. However, the same woman with glasses looked confused took my phone off me to read the terms and condition. Then said no it’s only with full priced meals. I was highly disappointed, as she never apologised or knew the terms and conditions herself. Frankly to be honest I didn’t appreciate her taking my phone off me. When the food arrived, they wasn’t any knifes and forks. The food itself wasn’t the best. The chicken in my wrap was cold, the other family members ordered a Sunday dinner. However, there wasn’t enough gravy on it for starters, meat was dry and the potatoes was obviously frozen and NOT FRESH. Whilst eating our food no staff member asked us if our meal was okay, which I know is important, as iv done waitressing in the past. Therefore, wasn’t able to discuss issues with staff members. Even when we finished our meal, they wasn’t a Thankyou for coming etc. It was highly rude. Also in the ladies toilet it was a mess !! Toilet roll everywhere. It was highly disappointing. We won’t be coming back here anytime soon, unless some serious work has been done.

On first view the place looked nice, menu looked really cheap but soon realised drinks made up the difference, food came cold and kids meals was a joke. Needs shutting down or the cook sacking simple. Never again.

Arrived at the venue to be told that several key components of the kitchen (and the chefs too apparently given the quality of the food) were broken and not working properly. To our astonishment, the full menu was still available.

Family day out for birthday. Nearly every meal was affected by missing items and one meal returned for refund.

Typical pub grub - won't be bothering again, despite a new menu it's same old over cooked near but cold and snotty egg.

Ordered 2 for £12 deal roast beef dinners came back lukewarm dried veg and congealed gravy rubbery beef just left it seemed it had just been heated up in a microwave but not for long enough.

after visit to our more local eatery but missed food as stopped at 8.45 pm as we got there at about 8.47 and running out of time as my wife had just finished work we went to Hedon. Haven't been for years and was after the football and Hedon fest was going on pub was empty and you would have expected them to finish cooking but no they would still cook .My wife had curry I had the burger both fine as was the beer, service was fast and friendly

The environment was dirty the windows were open and smokers were sat directly outside. The food was cold and half cooked soggy yorkshire puddings were served.

place looked ok from outside so decided to stop for a drink and an early dinner with the family. wished we hadnt. worst meal we have had in a long time. everything done to a crisp . must have cooked it with a flame thrower. almost inedible and service lousy . plates just dumped on edge of table with a comment " no idea who ordered what- was hard to tell anyway looking at burnt offerings. also no cutlery forthcoming . imagine locals carry their own - well at least a knife anyway.

Went for lunch today with a friend. Great service with friendly happy staff. Both meals came efficiently and hot and both thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely return.... recommend the steak pie !

We called in here whilst on a short break. Really hot sunny day but place empty. My friends had the Sunday roast and it looked awful. I the steak sizzler but very bland. We ordered one of your signature dishes only to be told you did not have the rissoto I even paid for it. The ice cream was the best but had to wait 15 minutes after ordering it.

Second time I have visited this restaurant and the food has been Luke warm don't think I will be visiting again

If only I had taken a photo of my meal before I sent it back. We went with a group of 11 for my birthday. We weren't expecting great things just an average pub meal but as we were a large group, some on a budget, average was fine. Sadly we were not to even recieve average. Not counting the other complaints from the 7 other people in our party I will only comment on the 4 meals we ordered. Firstly my daughter's macaroni cheese came, I suspect it was from a budget frozen food store at it tasted only of plastic. A few minutes later my meal came which was from the special menu. I was told this was salmon but it resembled a burnt piece of leather which was solid to say the least. I sent it back and was told 10 minutes later that it would be 'at least' another 10 to 15 mins for this to be served again bit as the rest of our party were already eating, I told them not to bother. At this point my husband and son's good still had not been served so I went to complain. In all fairness the waiting staff were lovely and the manager offered me a free dessert which I declined as my mum had done her best to sneak a cake behind the bar. I explained that I would not be paying for my food and again in all fairness to the manager she cleared the whole bill, including drinks- which was appreciated. This said my birthday night out ended up being tomato soup and prosecco which left all the other people ( well 50% of them who didn't complain about their meals) feeling very guilty. Thus is honestly the last time I will ever eat at this pub. The food was disgusting. Total disappontment.

It was not the hospitality that was the problem. The food was absolutely appalling. I have never in my life seen or tasted anything like it. Both meals were half eaten and left. We finally went elsewhere for an edible meal. Will never ever return. I will certainly be voicing my opinion to all family and friends. The lowest rating for food is one star. I wouldn't even give it that. Sunday roast (boil in the bag beef with gravy) inedible black carrot sticks. Cauliflower that ran through your fork. I think the yellow glue substance was suppose to be mash but was the cheapest of yellow smash and to top it off it was stone cold. Service was absolutely excellent. Young girl offered apology and said she would exchange the meal. We declined this offer because

Living local we thought we would support a local business and visit Kingstown Hotel for a Sunday Roast. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. The beef was like eating rubber, the carrots barely cooked,cauliflour watery and the mash seemed to be instant.

Popped in for our tea yesterday, Good little play area. Jessica explained the deals of the passes they do too after asking for more information upon arrival. She was very helpful.

Visited for a day of food, drinks and play for the family on a Sunday afternoon. The food was cold, sparse and soggy. Chicken was wet and the sides were teaspoon size. Never saw any staff and the table service was very poor. Will never visit again because this has been the same situation on two occasions now. It’s a shame because was a lovely place before it became a hungry horse.

Rubbish we ve just walked out and left our food family of 3 The table next to us also walked out and left the food saying how bad it was. The meal was cold instant mash. Yorkshire pudding hard and chewy. Never in my life have seen so disgusting food. Cob webs hanging over head. Waste of 30 pound. Please don't go.

Family meal today, waited ages for it and the pub wasn't busy, when it arrived only 1 meal was hot, others all luke warm obviously been stood in kitchen waiting. All day breakfast beans missing off one plate and under cooked fried egg. Chicken on new York chicken very pale and cold. Puddings not much better, jam roly poly was like a brick and uneatable. Won't be going back.

A came 2day to have food lol, I cudnt come in because I’m a dog lol but one lad by the name of jay jay came out to feed me. He gave me some chips that he’d Freshly microzapped topped with tinned tuna. He called me a good boi and petted me

Came in to Wacky today with my young boy for the first time and was only expecting to have a short stay. The young lad Jay was absolutely fantastic! He played with my son for about an hour and my son didn't want to leave. Having only moved to the area I am certainly re-visiting Wacky! Thank you Jay for being so kind and sweet!

Came here for a family meal and for our daughter to play.

My grandson loved it here playing in the soft play. Jay jay was our server and he is polite and great with the kids. The food was great for my grandson who’s 2. Great price. We ate in there too and was so tasty for a pub meal and a decent price for the servings will defo go back

Quite often come to wacky warehouse here and Sarah is always so kind, chatty , and helpful my little boy loves it here . Always feel so welcome and little boy leaves very happy.
