The Country Girl in Birmingham

Went on Wednesday at 1930. ended up sat outside as most tables reserved. Quiz night just starting too. Didn't have food, hence no star rating for it.

Went here for lunch after visiting Cadbury's World, really welcoming, friendly, great service, definitely recommend if you are in the area

I was served by Michael. He was very nice and the Guinness pour was excellent. Although I did catch him watching a YouTube video on how to pour cask ales, but the young lad was all you could ask for in a barman.

Came in on Thursday evening, served by the lovely Ethan and Michael. Class act from them and a tasty Guinness!

Good choice of food and drinks, good size portions of food too. Was advised by staff that it was approximately a 30 minute wait for food as it was busy, took a little longer but the food came out very hot and well presented. Although very busy staff were still very polite and helpful

I recently took someone out for her birthday , It was a Sunday ,I paid 30 odd pound for 2 turkey dinners & a couple of soft drinks ,birthday girl was fairly happy ,but I wasn't & I said I was disappointed when asked by female member of staff, probably not my sort of composition of Sunday dinner as I like mash,several Yorkshire puds & a good variety mix of veg, On this meal the Turkey was okay ,I felt the roasties were not as crispy outside & fluffy inside as I would have liked,the carrots were a bit crunchy imo, we were given sweet cabbage (which was nice) & spinach for veg, The one Yorkshire pud was nice & gravy decent , I suppose I am used to composing my own Sunday roast type meal ,I avoid carveries because of the long queues & hustle & hustle , I think I am best cooking my own at home lol. The parking options were good & staff fairly friendly .

I have been using the Country Girls for years and have always found the food and staff to be second to non.Thank you to the staff who served us yesturday being a table of 18 and all wanting different meals/ puds/ starters.We were having a catch up as all retired staff from St Marys Hospice who I saw was still being supported by this very special pub.Keep up the good work and will see you again soon.

Having travelled from Lancashire to Birmingham to see my son and family we visited this fine country pub lat month for lunch along with my 2 year old daughter. The atmosphere is charming with families with children and dogs my granddaughter loved wondering around with me to stroke the dogs who were all so well behaved as was the children. We came to visit again yesterday and we'd had a lovely afternoon in Cannon Hill Park and it got to 5pm so we thought that we would have dinner in the lovely Country Girl Pub. Unfortunately because it was such a busy time on Saturday the place was completely full. It's so popular that not one table was left for us four adults and our two year old. We spoke to the duty manager Sharon who helped us to look but apologised as there was no room at the Inn. We came out disappointed and just as we got to the car Sharon came running across the car park after us to tell us that some people are leaving and a table has come available. We was delighted so returned back to the pub to find Sharon sat at a table saving it for us. It turned out that three tables all left at once. We sat at the table and again had a lovely meal and some fine real ales.The staff went above and beyond, everything is lovely and clean, the food was plentiful and tasty and the real ale and Guinness was just what the Doctor ordered. Well done to Sharon, the chefs and all the staff.

Went in with a group of mates following our school reunion and before heading to Prossies I have to say Sam from Wigan (one of the staff) was amazing. Poured the most immaculate pint of Guinness I’d ever seen it brought tears to my eyes. He was funny and we will definitely be visiting again!

Often come here for a Sunday roast and a pint. Staff have always been polite every time I visit both with friends and by myself. Food and drink served quickly.

Excellent, friendly, knowledgeable service. Food all came to the table correct, all at the same time. It was all really tasty. Very reasonably priced. We were a party of 10 for a birthday - everyone agreed that it was an all-around great experience.

Lovely place, food was a let down ribs was mushy like they were from frozen just fat no meat, scampi wasn't great either but the wings were really good really disappointing hope it's better if we go again.

Called in here after visiting Cadbury world. By far the best Sunday dinner I have ever had! The beef is out of this world & all the staff are courteous and friendly. Food came out piping hot and within a more than reasonable time scale given how busy they were! Highly recommend this place 😮‍💨👌🏻

We held the wake for my father here Thursday (23-1-25). We popped in to check the place out before Christmas. The staff were very professional and the food very good. On the day everything went smoothly, the staff couldn't have been more helpful and everyone commented on how good the food was.

Ordered steak pie should of came with mash was served with fries which young man brought a bowl of mash out but unfortunately the steamed veg were frozen but we didn't bother changing them.

Staff are always kind and helpful, I was missing avocado and that was sorted straight away! Thanks team!

Great atmosphere, the Country Girl accommodated our athletics club very well. We had a great time and the food and drink were delicious and reasonably priced. Definitely recommended!

Had a Christmas dinner here with the university athletics club (BUAC). The service was very good considering the large amount of people attending. The food was also excellent with sizeable portions, good vegetarian options and very nice chocolate brownie.

had an impromptu visit with my niece and daughter. food was absolutely amazing and if i can say even better than usual. great atmosphere and aesthetically gorgeous with the Christmas decorations and open fire so cosy lovely staff and had a new starter serving who was also amazing patient and professional even under pressure (me changing order lol) three of us ate and was just under £50 for our meals and drinks highly recommended thank you country girl staff x

We came for Breakfast with Santa. We visit often and the staff always remember us. They are attentive and make the experience feel personalised. The food is always good. The whole experience was great and our daughter loved meeting Santa.

The pub has a nice atmosphere and decor, staff are very friendly. Parking is available but make sure you put your number plate in the tablet at the bar. Our food took a while to come and it tasted ok, the reason why I only gave the place 3 stars was the wait, we had pre ordered but it still took 25 minutes and it wasn’t busy. Also the presentation of my food was so bad I could have done a better job at home. It did not look appetising or nice on the eye. I have taken a picture for you to judge for yourself.

Attended for a Christmas meal with 17 of our team. The Country Girl team were, as always, friendly, knowledgeable and treated us amazingly! The food was served quickly and tasted great.

I love this place. The staff and so attentive, warm, welcoming and considerate. The food is delicious too, especially their Sunday roast. The atmosphere and decor are commendable also. Their Christmas decorations look superb too. It's always a good time at this place!

Had a society Christmas dinner here and was amazing. Pre order was so easy and communication made everything go smoothly. Food was incredible, quick service and staff were very friendly. Also very good blue light discount.

I had my birthday meal here and we had a great experience, food and service was amazing and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Our server Sam was very attentive and, despite how busy it was, we were not made to feel rushed. Would recommend

Utterly appalling General Manager. Wish I could talk about the quality of the food or drink, but we never even got to sit down... Knowing it can be very busy after the Bourneville lights switch on we"d got a group together and booked ahead far in advance...a table of 8 including 2 high chairs as we have toddlers; booked and confirmed... Or so we thought. We turn up in good time to find indeed we're correct to have thought ahead, all the tables are reserved. Worryingly not a single table of 8, or high chair in sight. After a couple of laps of the pub and trying to keep pushchairs out the way, it's obvious our pre-booked and confirmed table doesn't exist. We ask at the bar about it... The GM grabs the tablet and from the look in her eye it's very clear there's been a cock up and our table has been forgotten about... rather than communicate this she walks off and walks round and round clearly trying to will tables into existence... Two attempts to ask what's going on are ignored as our toddlers; tired and hungry begin to kick off. At the third attempt I'm rudely told it's not her fault, clearly someone has sat at our table and removed the board... Interesting considering there's no such table of 8 at all. I ask politely why she doesn't simply tell said (non existent) table to politely move, because it's a reservation, and moving the board doesn't change that.. this is something I've had to do MANY times in my 18 years in hospitality... I'm rudely and in a raised voice, in front of my partner and under 2 year old son, told it's not going to happen, that this happens every day and I have no idea how this actually works (clearly not aware I've run bigger premises) and I'm the problem and HOW DARE I ASK WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE TABLE WE ADVANCED BOOKED AFTER BEING IGNORED FOR 20 MINUTES. She then literally turns and walks off. No attempt to sort it out or even apologise... Just leaves. Now I can see she's stressed so when I finally re catch her eye I attempt to apologise (despite doing nothing wrong), I understand to be human is to error, but no, this non existent table of 8 including high chairs is definitely being sat on by non existent customers who cannot be asked to move and me asking about it is proof I am absolute scum, or so I'm made to feel... At this point my partner points out that if removing a reservation sign from a table is fair game then surely we could and should do the same...to which said GM sweeps the nearest sign and shrieks FINE SIT THERE before storming off a third time... By this point it's very clear we're not welcome and far from apologising the GM decides to shoot daggers from her eyes at my partner and little boy... Well I'd had enough, I told her I ALSO did not like being spoken to in such a way (again all I'd done is ask where our pre-booked table was and why it wasn't honoured) and that frankly , the situation had been appallingly handled. Had she simply told us: I'm so sorry, we've missed your booking, here's maybe a free drink at the bar or some form of apology and compensation, again something I've had to do many times in my 2 decades in hospitality, then we'd have accepted. Instead I was blamed for her mistake, shouted at, and embarrassed in front of my friends, partner and child because she'd very clearly made a mistake. Non of us will be going ever again... I am appalled at her behaviour and insulted. If you can't manage, you shouldn't be a manager. Absolutely disgusting.

We had a lovely Sunday roast here with the family, while visiting form Canada. Potatos and yorkies were a delight :)

Good food at a good price. Staff friendly. Nice pub, clean tidy and nicely spaced out tables.

Very disappointing , we always go here and yesterday was massively a let down considering the 54 pounds we spent , we ordered the soup and it came out luke warm , with bread that was stale and had no butter with it . The shepherds pie was delicious and massively let down by the side veg, one of the big undercooked carrots was ice cold which I’d assume was not cooked so I left it to one side . I didn’t complain as I didn’t want to cause a scene . The bread would have hardened from being under the heat lamp which bread should be kept away from . It’s a shame as we genuinely love the country girl but this was money wasted this one time :( hope my information helps it doesn’t happen again and I would suggest new side options for the amazing shepherds pie

Party of 6, we had starters and mains, the ham egg & chips was delicious, nice fresh carved ham. The garlic mushroom starter was also well loved as it was in a homemade batter, not the mushrooms some pubs serve that are straight out of a bag. Also had was one of the on tap bitters which had a fruity taste, very good.

Good prices with a nice cosy atmosphere and lots of seating. Perfect place to hang out for a pint and some pub grub. Don't expect much in the way of service though.

Funeral wake food was good and hot

First visit here. Nice car park tucked away to the rear. Reserved a table in advance. Friendly staff. Decent food prices, enjoyed the food. Only reason for 4 stars is its my first visit. Keep up the good work.Went to a drag act also, that was great, really nice to simply see a lot of folks of all ages just having fun.

Met up with friends for Sunday lunch here. One of the reasons we chose this place was that it welcomes dogs, which our friends were bringing. Good range of food including kids menu and veggie options. I went for the veggie burger that came with chips, which I enhanced by borrowing some gravy that came with my husband's meal! Adults and kids all enjoyed their meals. There is parking but you need to enter your car registration number as soon as you come in, to avoid a parking ticket.

Food takes absolutely forever to arrive. Waiting an hour for a starter and nearly 2 hours for the main is not acceptable. Always the same. Remembered why I stopped coming.

Went for the Wednesday night quiz and also had a code for 40% off mains so had meals as well. Both myself & partner had sausage & mash, lovely with the crispy fried onions on. The service on the food was excellent, didn’t have to wait long & plates are cleared away really quickly. Everything clean as well. Quiz night was excellent, it’s always a good atmosphere & fun. I don’t think it needs any improvements, it’s a nice cosy pub with excellent friendly staff. Toilets are always good too!

We went today for lunch and my daughters 21st birthday. What a lovely pub and amazing staff. The Sunday lunch was one of the best I've ever had and very reasonably priced. My Dad is struggling with his mobility and the manager and all the staff couldn't have done more to look after us. Thank you very much. We'll definitely be back 👍

Went for lunch with husband started off bad no sausages so both opted for ham/egg/chips/peas. When it came went to put salt on it was all wet,asked for another one he said apparently everyone is the same across the company. The ham looked very wet and was stone cold so thick you could not cut it .we both left it we was asked if everything was ok we said not really and proceeded to explain. He did come back and offer a dessert which we declined and left

Absolutely excellent food for incredibly good prices. As a student, very affordable for some good food. Tastier food here than I have had at more expensive places, and a good variety of food too. The set menu is excellent if you're on a budget, and the kids meals are great too.

Had been meaning to call in here for months as it is conveniently located for us and arring early for lunch, it was quite empty. It soon got busier but out of university term time, probably far less than usual. Since we were eating we ordered at the table, drinks first which arrived quickly and then food together with another round of drinks. After a disappointing starter, the mains turned up but the drinks took 15 minutes from ordering before we had to ask for them, at which point they arrived promptly. The food though was the biggest let down. Burger was passable as a quick bite but soggy battered fish and one of the worst salsds ever in a restaurant pull this right down. Maybe stop by for a drink again one day but not food.

Lovely pub, I would highly recommend! Food is delicious and staff are so friendly and approachable - you are always made to feel so welcome here and are guaranteed a great experience!

A great place for a pit stop on my commute!

Very enjoyable lunch in a fabulous venue. Decor beautiful, loved the colours. Staff friendly and service quick. I had Lasagne it was delicious 😋 and my friend had Shepherds Pie which was very meaty and she said the potato topping was creamy and plentiful. All in all a wonderful experience. Would recommend for sure. Definitely worth a visit, and lots of things happening in the week, like quizzes and entertainment. Check out their website.

Came with the family for evening meal. Staff were friendly and easily approachable. Wide range of drinks and the food was amazing. Burgers are succulent and the hunters schnitzel is to die for! Highly recommend and will definitely visit again. Thank you all.

Decent food, decent atmosphere.

Roast veg cremated, steamed veg raw. Boiled potatoes almost raw. Salt damp in cellar when top opened, it poured out onto meal. This place has gone down over past year or so. Has the chef changed???

We dropped into the Country Girl Thursday 15th August around 3:00pm with the dog. Last went in a few Mondays ago for lunch but really wasn’t impressed. Wasn’t busy but a few small groups. Ordered food & a couple of drinks. What a surprise! Food was excellent & the service from Adam, Mark & Sam was spot on. Will definitely go again soon. Keep it up. Many thanks. Barry Adams.

Great local place, acceptable prices and offers.

Pleasantly surprised. Food was good, had the chicken and leak pie, which was surprisingly delicious. Quick service with a friendly atmosphere. Just a shame about the deserts, we had Eton mess sundaes, which were really nice, but there was next to no meringue in there, one piece at best. Otherwise good, nice little tucked away pub, would recommend for an impromptu meal.

Seven of us visited to celebrate two birthdays and we all enjoyed our food and drinks. We were not rushed and allowed to take our time to celebrate.

I was astounded to receive a fine for parking in the pub car park. A lovely afternoon drink ruined. It cost me £60 !
