The Cottage Inn in Eastleigh

Staying at a nearby campsite we visited this cosy pub for something to eat and drink we weren't disappointed. Nice local Ales and a reasonable menu for good food. This I think is a pub mainly used by the locals,and they are not wrong.

Wow this place is fantastic i went with a friend three times, Sophie and all the team there are amazing. Should you be in a campervan and you eat and drink there, you can stay overnight subject to space in the small car park. They have very clean outside toilets and a water point. The prices are very very good and the local people are wonderful too. I will be back.

I should have known it was bad from the smokers outside and the street! Very limited beer choices and the food was simply awful. Without doubt the worst ever burger I’ve ever seen. It was so processed and under cooked I couldn’t cut it!! Ten chips, awful pair of burgers for us both and the football on at decibel cringing levels. Avoid this awful place with everything you have. Definitely don’t order food here!! Staff couldn’t have cared less!

Lovely traditional pub complete with dartboard and garden area. Quite spacious within, beer not overly priced compared to other establishments nearby.

Ordered food but one meal a beef burger had juices with blood in it soaking into the roll. We were told that it was the juices and was right. Changed that meal to chicken burger. Chicken burger and chicken goujons ok. We were the only customers in the bar at lunchtime and these simple meals tooksome time to cook!

About the third time ive been in this boozer. Each of the previous 2 times they have shown on their screen the football- as they state on their website. This time, the Champions League final was being played, which happens to be the biggest game in the European football calendar. I was met with a surly barstaff member who made it clear that there was no way she was going to allow football to be shown in favour of the music (which noone was listening to) , and despite my polite nudges grudgingly decided at 10 mins before the game to put it on without any sound. I mean, if you are going to spend money on buying a BT/TNT Sport licence then you would think that you would utilise it.! The rudeness and arrogance shown has made me decide that i will no longer visit The Cottage again, and will also advise all the visitors that visit the business where i work not to visit and go to Woodies instead.

This is a great pub. Excellent food. Very friendly staff and locals alike. Highly recommended

Nice dog friendly pub. Went on a Sunday both had gorgeous pies. They don't do roast dinners, but the pies made up for that. Quiet in the restaurant area which was perfect for us.

We love this pub. Well kept beer, great pub food and really good service but really disappointed having braved the wind and rain on Wednesday to find a notice on the front door saying the kitchen was closed. Had to go elsewhere.

Visited recently. Great little pub that is definitely of a dyeing breed, proper local pub with a good selection of drinks and snacks. Food available but check times. Good parking available. Dogs allowed.

Great food. The fish portion was huge and juicy and much appreciated after a day of travelling. Loads of gluten free options and they specially prepared a fryer for the chips. Amazing service and they were attentive throughout.

We have been here several times before but have never had their Fish and Chips .The best ever anywhere .Proper mushy peas and tartar sauce .Fish was huge and classed as medium .Great value for money cannot be beaten

Nice food, plenty of it. Unfortunately they only have 1alcohol free beer,which if you are diabetic like me is of no use to you as it contains too much sugar. Nice pub though, owner is friendly, food prices are very good.

Not a vast range on the menu but enough, and having been three times eating different meals found every one well cooked and delicious.

My wife and I went there for dinner. It was very quiet in the restaurant area probably due to the high winds forecast for the evening. The beer was of good quality and the service and food were excellent. This is also a locals pub and there were few in so it wasn't that quiet but it was fine and it didn't affect our evening. So this is a great local pub with friendly people and great pub food.

This is a great little pub. It was late on Saturday when we got there and it was very busy. Staff were friendly. It has a good selection of real ales. Well worth a visit.

Delightful Wadworth's pub in Butlocks Heath just outside Southampton, near Netley. I came here shortly after moving to Southampton in 2015, and reviewed it for TripAdvisor: "Lovely country pub. Central bar serves several rooms full of nooks and crannies and redolent with character and atmosphere. Three cask ales from the very decent Wadworth brewery, with assorted rolls (£1 each) or hot meals depending on time of day. Good friendly, laid back ambiance. Child friendly Best pub I've yet come across in the Southampton area. This is going to be most people's idea of what a British country pub should be. Worth seeking out. " I came back with Chrissie shortly after that, and we both loved it. Then new owners took over and it no longer did food, so there seemed little point in coming out to visit. A country pub without food is mostly only useful for locals. I then put it out of my mind. But out with Myles on one of our Lads Who Lunch trips, and we drove past The Cottage, and I said it was a shame that they no longer did food, but Myles noticed a board outside advertising food, so in we went. And I'm glad we did. The place is under new ownership, and they do a full cooked menu. I had the Mac N Cheese, which was a little overheated, so the cheese had liquified, and the pasta was a little sweet and lacking in character, but was, nevertheless, very, very tasty! I'll be honest and say that at the end I tipped up the dish and drank the remaining liquified cheese! Would it have been better not so overheated? Yes. But let's not quibble, it was enjoyable. I was tempted by the pudding menu, and had a home cooked brownie with lashings of custard. Again, very enjoyable, even if both the brownie and the custard were a little light on flavour I found it comfortable, and just what I wanted. As with The Roll Call nearby, sometimes honest home cooking is just what you want. The previous owners have opened up the space between the two main rooms (there is a third room on the left as you enter - though I've not been in there). This has taken away some of the charm and character. It no longer feels like a country pub when you go in, and I'm unsure what has been gained in terms of space. However, there is enough charm remaining for this to still be a pub worth visiting if in the area. The beers are by Wadworth. There were three on offer during our visit: Horizon, 6X, and Henry's IPA. I had the 6X and the IPA, and both were in good condition. All in all a fine pub. I would have given full marks if the wall hadn't been knocked down.

Went to the cottage yesterday for my grandsons 16 birthday meal . Why have I never been here before. the food was excellent and the staff were so friendly, what a little gem of a pub . You have just gained another customer . Thanks to you all . I will now be a regular for food and drinks 👍👍👍

My 5 girlfriends and I went to the cottage pub for lunch and drinks on Monday, the food was hot and so much i couldn't eat it all. But the new manager (Aron) i think that was his name was so friendly and helpful he is a credit to the pub, we will be back but can you serve jacket spuds and cold sandwiches please.

Went to The Cottage for Sunday lunch today and it was amazing! Had roast lamb and there was so much meat, best roast we have had. Friendly good service too. Would definitely recommend this pub for great food. We will be going back soon.

We visited this great little pub for a meal, 6 adults, a toddler & a puppy and could not have been made to feel any more welcome. The staff were helpful & attentive. The food was excellent. 5 * to the chef - very dish was well presented & hot. A great little find. Many thanks to Sarah & team for a fantastic evening celebrating our Buddy’s birthday. Visited whilst on an overnight stay before ferry crossing, recommended by campsite as a dog friendly family pub and did not disappoint! Delicious food, huge portions (remarked on exit that the fajitas could've fed both adults) and nice, friendly, service. Will visit again if in the area.

Staff are very friendly, beer is good, nice garden and great food. Don't go there if you have a small appetite the portions are huge. Home made scotch egg is lovely and the fish is banging. Enjoy.

We came in for a last minute evening meal. Two adults and two children. The staff were really friendly and the food was delicious. We had Mac cheese and steak pie both of which were generous in size and very tasty. Would recommend

Had our first meal on Father’s Day and the staff friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious, hot and cooked to perfection. It was that good we came back today for another and we we’re definitely Italy not disappointed! Hats off to the Chef… we will be back!

The food and drinks were really good value for money. The Sunday roasts are of a high standard and super portions. We went for a meal here after my Mums funeral. The landlord and landlady were very welcoming and so were the regulars. Everything about our meal was covid friendly. The meals were amazing and portions were plentiful. Couldn't do enough for us, everyone agreed that this was the perfect ending to our send off for Mum, she would have approved

My husband suggested we went there for lunch, The landlord was very friendly and chatty, The tables well spaced, all very Covid safe. The food was excellent, I had sausage and mash, the sausages were the best I have ever eaten. The real ale was to my husbands liking. The Mac cheese was extra cheesy. Unfortunately we had no room for desert. Will go again,

We booked in the week which is advisable .Great little pub with great food .We’ve eaten here twice now and it’s been great .Good food good prices and quite a popular place now .We are waiting to try their Sunday lunches but they get booked really quickly 😢 Hubby had fish n chips .Oh my goodness fish was huge and was delish ( I had a taster .) I had the steak and ale pie with veg .It was all cooked to perfection .A delightful place which has built a great reputation though a terrible year . We will be back soon ( saves me cooking 🤪🤪🤪)

Mientras nos alojábamos en el campamento de Sunnydale, caminamos hasta la posada de la cabaña para tomar unas copas y comer algo, nos sentamos en el jardín bajo un sol magnífico y, después de unas cuantas cervezas, entramos a comer y comimos pescado y patatas fritas, que era excelente, volver ya que todos lo pasamos muy bien allí.

Great local pub, dnt be put off by that statement thinking its just for locals either. Atmosphere is great there is always event n things going on. Good beer selection and the food is 👏 seriously decent food at great price. Definitely recommend this place

Me dijeron que deberíamos visitar este pub, ya que está bajo una nueva dirección, así que pensamos en echar un vistazo. El ambiente era bastante relajado y enseguida nos sentimos bienvenidos. No teníamos mucho tiempo, así que solo tomamos una cerveza y vino, luego alguien cerca de nosotros nos sirvió el pescado y las papas fritas, ¡guau! El pescado se veía enorme y casi encajado en el plato, se veía encantador, definitivamente tendremos que volver a probar ese pescado con papas fritas.

Canesú que moquea y buen cerdo de cría local (rosa). Yum Yum YumGoujons de pollo, pechuga de pollo entera bien grande, cortada en porciones de buen tamaño, perfectamente cocida y con una variedad de salsas. ! ! ! Una porción entre nosotros habría sido suficiente para los apetitos normales. Me lo comí todo ja ja jaPapas fritas, con piel, crujientes y no grasosas. Mi esposa y yo estamos en un fin de semana de campamento improvisado en el Sunnydale Campsite a 10 minutos a pie del pub. A nuestra llegada tuvimos una muy cálida bienvenida y nuestro perro también. Tomamos un par de copas y una comida. Comí Scampi and Chips con guisantes blandos caseros encantadores. Mi esposa tenía un par de entrantes, ensalada y aceitunas con pan. Ambas comidas estaban deliciosas. Vale la pena dar un paseo, ¡volveremos!
