Nice, quiet local pub / restaurant. Car parking available and food selection of food.

I’ve never been here before, in fact I’ve lived in Cardiff most of my life and to be honest I’d never noticed this pub before, but I was really surprised. I really liked the decor, the staff were very friendly and I’ll definitely be popping in here for a pint next time I’m out in Cardiff

Little change since it's refurbishment. It's still a great post-match pub No food served now.

Disgusting behavior from the bar staff Friday evening. We were refused service as we were "Too Noisy". I was told no more drinks and he was laughing and refused to tell me why, when asked for the manager she just said I have to agree with him. Bearing in mind , this was a few hrs into our evening and moved 3 tins to try and find a quieter area so we didn't have to shout over the music, we asked for it to be turned down and was advised no, it's at the right level. The security treated us like drunken fools, disgusting behavior. Always go there but won't form now on ; Shame on you !

Lovely pub. Very friendly barman, comfy seating. Just one gripe, £3.50 for a small glass of nuts?!?! Otherwise a very pleasant place.

Came here at 5, looking forward to fish pie - and the bartender informed us they don't serve food, drinks only. Frustrating. (Followup to their reply - their Maps description mentioned their kitchen and food...which they removed immediately after replying to my review. So yeah, the 1 star stands, as they were misleading customers (why haven't they requested removal of food pics??).)

Slipped on the slops thrown out at the end of the night and broke my wrist. Avoid or cross the street.

Great little pub, lots of atmosphere, good value drinks and lots of seating in the centre of town. Certainly recommend going 👌

What a Great Pub in the center of Cardiff visiting from France.

Been for a drink but when Live performer started to play, had to leave. Definately too loud for such a small place.

Popped in late as we heard the guy on guitar. He was good, sadly we only caught his last couple of tunes. We stayed on for the atmosphere and the staff.

Beautifully designed inside out. Drinks (beer and wine) are decent. Nice atmosphere and polite staff. I recommend this pub and I’ll visit it again.

Nice to have the Cottage open again. My go-to pub in the centre of Cardiff when I visit. Brains good as ever.

Very good reasonably priced Cardiff boozer

Pint of Dark & Rum & coke yesterday (Thursday) cost £8.50 excellent price ... However same round today cost £10.70!!!! Cannot knock the atmosphere, but price jump is questionable!!!!

Was in the cottage for the Wales V France game, bar was flowing very fast and staff were amazing despite being overrun by drunken rugby fans. A great space, back again on Saturday 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

First time back here in years and thankfully it's still great. Beautiful exterior and interior, beer choice not the best and no craft but they serve a very good pint of Guinness. Really nice atmosphere for city centre and friendly staff. Not sure about the food situation as I couldn't see any menus

Great newly-renovated traditional pub in the heart of Cardiff

One of Cardiff’s old pubs that was Brains for many years. Following Brains demise the pub closed and subsequently re-opened. A reasonable pint of Guinness and fairly busy inside.

Great service and atmosphere, great to have it open again.

Really nice traditional pub. I haven't been here since it was reopened, but I was pleasantly surprised at the refurbishment. Still had its character inside and out. We just shared a bottle of white wine, which we thought was expensive at £30 but I guess that's Cardiff prices. Probably my favourite Cardiff pub.

Great Guinness. The bar was quite busy but it was still an excellent two part pour. The person serving me quite rightly took another order whilst waiting for the first part to settle. The glass was very clean as well. Had a couple of pints, both poured by different people, and both were very good.

Great old pud with good beer and friendly staff, quiet on a Wednesday

Always a good pub to visit when in town. Beer always kept well, shame they don't serve the "gold" range. Good news, they now sell SA GOLD! Bad news, Marstons have started to move their beers in starting with HOBGOBLIN.

Great to pop in here and have a pint of Brains in between shopping. Staff are really freindly and there is a small sitting area outside that gets the sun on a lucky day. Plenty of space onside even though covid is still causing havoc. They do treat covid seriously in here and details and social distancing are required. They do meals, but did not get a chance this time, but hopefully plan it a bit better for our next visit.

Small but very central location. You'll struggle to sit down during peak times.

Food is very good. Had to wait about, 40mins for it to arrive but worth it.

A piece of Cardiffs history, still living and breathing. I love to go here for a pint of Brains Black, the Welsh equivalent of Guinness. They serve such a good pint of it here I prefer it to Guiness.

The heating has been broken for over a year. Time to go to a warmer pub.

Head here for cocktails and beers served at the bar or delivered to the seating area, while you catch up with old and new friends. The staff here make the difference, Cardiff at its best.

The barmaid was very welcoming and helpful. We had a nice cheap fish and chip. 2 meals for £12: can't beat that :)
