Our walking group had their Xmas lunch today ,it was delicious 😋,we go here quite often after walks . Always have delicious cakes to choose from

Disgusted how can this be ok? I ordered bubble and squeak. I'm vegetarian so I didn't want bacon.. despite this being removed I wasn't allowed to swap for beans or another egg as you have to pay more..despite the most expensive item being removed I still paid £10 for mash potato cabbage and an egg I asked for a side of beans and avocado Thr beans 1.50 for a spoonful and 2.50 for half a totally bruised avocado They didn't care when I complained the customer is definitely in the wrong!!! I was told that ypu have to pay full price no swapping and the only refund I was offered was for the avocado that should have been binned in the first place...shoddy chef and manager's! Definitely as a local would not recommend or use again

Looking at the reviews, food delivery times are as they were in June 2022. We arrived at 12.45 on Sunday 8th September to be greeted with the sign advising a 45 minute wait for hot food. We stood in a line of 12 people and reached the order point after 30 minutes. We both wanted soup, to be told Yes, 45 mjnutes was what it would take. What planet is the management on? Just how many years does it take to take the message on board & make an improvement. 45 minuted for a bowl of soup. They surely by now get the message that a wait of 1.25 hours in total for a bowl of soup is ridiculous. I cannot believe each soup is made especially to order. We threw the towel in , jumped in our car & travelled over to Trellisk near Truro, even busier than this restaurant, were served and eating our choice within 15 minutes of arriving. Is there a lesson here? Of course there is & one this restaurant should take very seriously. Very disappointed & frankly angry that this is the way customer’s are treated.

The restaurant is a great space but it looks a little tired and could do with an update and “zoning”. It is perhaps too open plan. It feels more like a canteen than a cozy café. Food-wise, the menu choice and the ingredients used are excellent. Apparently all sourced as locally as possible. We had an all-day breakfast and everything on the plate was delicious. Nothing greasy or sub standard. I didn’t give it 5 star because it took nearly an hour from ordering to being served. We arrived after the busy lunchtime, just after 2pm and most tables were free; we didn’t queue to order; it wasn’t busy. I don’t know what was going on in the kitchen (were they short of staff?) but we had to ask twice about our order. It eventually arrived after 3pm, with an extra free pot of tea by way of an apology. We will come again and hope that service will be quicker next time.

Don’t bother eating here if you’re visiting Tolgus Mill museum. We came during half term week on a wet day and they clearly hadn’t planned for an increase in custom. It took about half an hour to queue to order from the incredibly inefficient tills (only one in operation despite a large number of people trying to order). Once I’d ordered one of the staff then had to come to tell me they’d run out the sausage roll I’d ordered (this should have been flagged at the till) so we then had to make a snap decision of whether our 3 year old would eat a vegan equivalent. Once the food arrived it was pretty poor quality - a very greasy lasagne and a tuna baguette on bread I wouldn’t expect to get with a supermarket sandwich let alone in a restaurant. Both served with a “salad” that was more red onion than anything else. The vegan sausage roll was actually surprisingly good. Suffice to say if we do visit Tolgus Mill again we’ll be bringing a packed lunch or eating elsewhere!

We love this place, we go every week now. The staff are so welcoming. Especially Sharon. Well the whole team. They genuinely seem pleased to see us and other regulars. Food is always excellent. We have recommended the cafe to lots of friends. See you next week

We live locally and called in for a coffee and cake while out cycling. We've not been here before despite it only being a couple of miles from home so thought we'd give it a go. The coffee was fine, the Bakewell tart was fine too but at 3.30pm (half an hour before closing) the staff started clearing down ahead of closing for the day. That's fine, but when a member of staff goes around and puts all the chairs on the unused tables it's not very welcoming. Especially as the cafe still had many visiting coach party customers sitting at tables. Will we go back? Maybe - but it won't be near closing time - we can take a hint!

We have visited a few times and eaten here before. For a late lunch, we all chose the smaller Cornish Breakfast. One of us asked for an extra bacon slice instead of the sausage and it appeared as if that was possible. And, no, we did not want our meals served on a shovel. Idly checking the receipt at our table we realised that the extra bacon slice was being charged for, not swopped. So, when the meals were delivered, we asked for that sausage as we had paid for it. It eventually arrived but not with good grace, the staff member likening us to school kids. I explained that it had appeared as if the bacon for sausage swop had been accepted. But having been charged for the extra bacon it was fair that we did still get the sausage that we had paid for. After all, had we known that we would be charged for the extra slice of bacon we would not have changed the order to start with. At this, we received a reluctant apology. Needless to say, we didn’t give any serious thought to any jewellery purchase after that.

This is an awesome place, very friendly staff, great atmosphere, with a unique twist on serving your breakfast. Recommended.

As a family we have been here several times. The food is really good, both the standard menu and the daily specials. The staff are kind & professional and clearly take pride in their work. We took family from out of county here as we could guarantee it would be a lovely experience, and it was. Wholeheartedly recommended.

Came here for Father’s Day. Really really busy but the food, restaurant and staff were wonderful . Coped very well with a lot of people. All food freshly cooked for you. Been back twice since then and overly

I WAS THERE WITH MY FAMILY FOR FATHERS DAY AFTER ORDERING OUR MEAL WE HAD TO WAIT FOR AN HOUR TO BE SERVED WITH TWO YOUNG CHIDREN WHO WERE VERY HUNGRY I NOTICHED A YOUNG MAN WHO WAS THERE WITH HIS WIFE GOING TO SLEEP WAITING AND HIS WIFE LEAVING WITHOUT HER MEAL WHEN THE FOOD WAS SERVED TO ME IT WAS NOT UP TO STANDARD WILL NOT BE GOING THERE AGAIN.POOR SERVICE

2 big breakfast food was like traditional home cooked , great taste with quick service plus a walk in the tin streaming mill

Just pulled in to have a look at the museum of the old tin works which is very good and is Free to look around top rate for all good if you any youngster with you. It was a Sunday so had a great roast lunch had to wait for it but cooked for us

Visited for breakfast following a recommendation from a friend. A large airy restaurant attached to the Cornwall Gold Centre near Redruth. The queue at the counter to order and the slowness of service was the only complaint. When the food arrived, all was forgiven ; two of us had stacks of pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and my partner, eggs benedict. We shared sweet potato fries. All dishes were really good, as were the teas, coffee and hot chocolate. If you're not in a hurry, try the breakfasts here. Will definitely eat here again. Recommended.

No small veggie breakfast anymore. Large and small meat breakfast options. Seems like discrimination against vegetarians. We used to have a veggie breakfast regularly here. Neither of us can eat a large breakfast, but the veggie breakfast is not big enough to share. Compared to the meat option the veggie option is very expensive. Such a shame as we enjoyed our veggie breakfasts here.

Waited 45 minutes for 2 sandwiches, wasn't busy at all when we ordered them. Feel sorry for the people who came in after us as they must've waited well over an hour. Food was average. Staff were all pleasant and helpful, just painfully slow. Disappointing.

We used to have breakfast here regularly but the wait is ridiculous. You either need to be first in at 10am and still wait 20 minutes or wait 45 minutes and that was when half the resturant was shut and as i walked in noticed a fair few tables had already eaten, sometimes well over an hour. The last time food came out we had to eat it quickly as we needed to go. Surely on a Saturday morning they know how many people come for the full breakfast so they can prepare, but last time we were there it seems to be 4 meals at a time with 10-15 minute gap between.

Food was good for what is was. Staff were awful. Such a shame as the last time we came here we had such a lovely time.

Had there Steak and Ale pie one of the best pies we have had full of Steak .it was a plate full and the plates were big .Will be trying there specials again the next time we go .
