The Cornish Bakery in East Devon

Distinctly average pasties at fairly high prices. The staff were friendly and everything was well presented but the pasties and cakes were underwhelming with pastry somewhat akin to cardboard in the case of the chipotle beef pasty. I wouldn't rush back that's for certain.

Very slow service. I think the staff were tired..no durprise middle of Sunday afternoon. Coffee good but disappointing experience

Visit this place almost every morning for coffee. Just want to give a shout out for Lee. Always great service from him, very switched on young man, great customer care skills, efficient and makes a great cappucino!!

Reason for stars is that the atmosphere plummeted when I went to pay- they would not accept legal tender-CASH. Service was acceptable but not perfect. Just a pasty- I’ve had better and just fed up with the since “Covid” excuse for not taking my hard earned currency. I’m local as in I live in Seaton- this Card Only mentality from retailers need to stop- it’s a travesty. My cash should be welcomed not shunned- Utterly ridiculous. it’s quite embarrassing as I didn’t have my card-and had to turn to my partner to pay which deafeated the object of me offering to pay. Last time in this establishment and other unfriendly “Cashless” places for me .

I like to call in to this bakery at least once a week as really enjoy their tasty cakes/snacks. Just love the raspberry and almond croissants but so many other delights to chose from. Served by Nathan ,who is always so friendly and helpful.

I visited Sidmouth a couple of weeks ago and would like to thank the staff for their great service. They were friendly and helpful and the ground coffee they kindly gave me for my son to try was delicious and much appreciated. I would highly recommend calling in.

Made the mistake of visiting this establishment during the busy Sidmouth air show. Hurried inside with the family and ordered. If I had known it was one of those snobby elitist 'cashless' cafes I would have steered well clear. I cannot stand a "you can only eat here if you have a debit card" attitude. Especially if you are selling low end pasties, beverages and pastries. Will never buy from these people while they refuse to take cash.

We have visited this Cornish Bakery for numerous years. We visited 21st August and we can not believe how standard have fallen. The young lady who took my order could not understand what l was asking. Then the man making the drink was totally unorganized and so slow Then to add insult to injury no toilet paper in the single loo. Although l heard several people report it. Will not be back again to this branch.

Visited today, the first time at this branch, I am new to the area and based on my excellent experience today, I will most definitely be returning. Served by Charlotte, who was attentive and friendly from the get go, I was extremely impressed by how expertly she handled my order, which due to the sheer amount of food and drinks and the variety of items involved (as we were quite a large group), I was most impressed that she got everything expertly right and it was very much service with charm, patience (as we changed our minds a few times!) and most definitely a smile, a credit to the company! The branch itself is bright, modern and airy and my friend commented on how clean the facilities were which is always a good sign in an establishment. Well done Cornish Bakery as always, great staff, and a fantastic atmosphere.

Absolutely amazing! I had a delicious traditional pasty and my husband had a Vegetable pasty. We both really enjoyed are lunch and someone who I think was called Pheobe served us and she was really friendly and we had a lovely chat about archaeology which I loved (being an archaeologist myself). We will definitely be back again!

Came in, not knowing what to buy, but the staff member serving me (Jed?) suggested a cherry and almond croissant. Never had one before, but have been back multiple times since! Also, the milkshakes are very good. Thanks Lee.

Popped in with a friend from London on Mon as we both fancied a pasty. They would not accept cash. It was gone 2pm and we were starving so gave in and paid cash. Meat in the pasties was a bit grisly meat. A flat white coffee was more like a frothy espresso. Would never go there again.

The coffee was very good not over roasted. The cornish pastry cauliflower and onion bhaji was better than from an Indian takeaway or restaurant. Not too salty just perfect. Sadly returning to London.
