I go there twice a day get a sausage roll betta than greggs ! Breakfasts very expensive ! I went for a pie on my way home the said pie was on show on the shelf for sale as normal I was told I I I couldn’t have as someone in the cafe was getting it ! Service awful today ! My last visit ! Plus the steak pies have no steak it’s a pastry DISH of gravy ! Gone down hill a bit !

A year since our last visit and the great news is everything is still 100% spot on. Great food, friendly staff, quick service and a reasonable price . A lot of cafes could learn from the Cornish Bakery on how to look after customers and provide 1st class food. Highly recommended if you are hungry and in Lancaster.

My partner and I are vegan. We sat down and ordered the vegetarian breakfast (no vegan) and asked if the egg could be substituted for more mushrooms on one and an extra hash brown on the other. Was advised they don’t do swaps… at the weekend - because they get busy! Looking around, place only half full. How hard is it to add more mushrooms to one breakfast, that already had mushrooms, and an extra hash brown to the other breakfast, that already had hash browns. In this day and age of businesses going out of business, we walked out and spent our £25 elsewhere. What a pathetic ‘rule’ - no swapping to accommodate. Also, removing one egg from the breakfast would not result in a price reduction! Bad experience - will not return.

We visited a few days ago and whilst it’s a lovely place a few things need addressing. Looking at the reviews I was expecting so much more! The pasties we had were tasteless and the edge was so hard it was best to be left on the plate. The portion of peas is hilarious and the gravy tasteless. I’ve had a pasty in Cornwall and they definitely aren’t like these. No swede and just generally bland! The toastie for a child is a joke. Hardly any cheese and nothing else to make it tasty and appealing. So on to the next thing which left us all surprised in fact I’ve not had it happen before. Two of us hadn’t finished and one of the waiters ( a young Irish lad ) appeared at the table and put the bill on the table and said “are you paying cash or card? ) We all just looked at him and said we hadn’t requested the bill and we weren’t finished. Our child hadn’t finished also! Totally unprofessional and he really needs some more training in customer service and attitude. What I will finish off by saying is that the waitress we dealt with was lovely but I think a staff training course is desperately needed.

I stumbled upon the Cornish Bakery whilst walking down Penny street . It was lunchtime so after quickly scanning the board menu, I decided to eat in. I was seated very quickly in a cosy corner and given the menu. Within several minutes, a friendly waitress came over and took my order . I ordered a sparkling water and cheese and onion pie with mushy peas and beetroot. The food arrived much quicker than expected (restaurant was full) and was exceptional . I cut into the pastry, and I was surprised how much cheese and onion filling there was . The pie was delicious and the mushy peas tasted exactly how they should ! Both restaurant and toilets were spotless. Service was excellent and to top it all it was great value for money . Would definitely recommend.

I wanted a great little cafe where I could sit in and eat a pie, now that may not seem and unreasonable request but in Lancaster it is nigh on impossible. I had always walked past as I thought that this was part of a chain but I now find out that it isn't and it is one of the great independent businesses of Lancaster. I have enjoyed several lunches and a breakfast in here in recent weeks. Always great value and the staff are brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Thoroughly recommended!

I have frequented this cafe since it first opened with my daughter or on my lunch break. It was always my first choice as the food and staff are excellent and always provide excellent fast service. Unfortunately for the staff the Manager / owner's customer service skills severely let them all down on this occasion. It was to be fair very busy when i last went ( but being from within the hospitality sector myself) i waited patiently for my order which took a lot longer than usual. Food was great as always but when i got to my cappuccino ( which was ordered specifically no choc or cinnamon for health reasons ) it blatantly had cinnamon. I could have lived with this just make me another or refund me !!!! But no the passing KP said he would ask one of the front of house staff to see to my query. The lady that came to see me was aggressive and rude, claimed i was lying and embarrassed me in front of a full cafe, She insisted she made the cappuccino herself ( well sorry to say, if this is the case you need to re do your barista training of which i am happy to pop by and give you some tips as this was the worst looking coffee i have ever received in your establishment ) and no cinnamon was added " It would have had brown spots on top " she said which i pointed out it had 3!!!! so she reverted back to there was no cinnamon in it at all. Her customer service is shocking, in 21 years i have never spoken to a customer the way she spoke to me regardless of how stressful a shift is.

Saw this café and fancied trying the attractive sounding breakfast, what a monumental mistake. Sausages were cold, when replaced very poor quality, eggs over cooked to the point they were like hard boiled eggs, the rest was very mediocre. The only hot items were the baked beans and tea. We were told that the meal was prepared and left until the soup we ordered was ready, 10 minutes the manager said. The only saving grace was my wife's toasted sandwich which she said was fine. The, who I took to be the manager, on our leaving said she had tested the temperature of the sausages and they were o.k. but to leave a meal 10 minuets before serving is not a good idea. All in all we will not be visiting this second rate place again. Stick to what you know "Pies and Pasties"

Visited here on a lunch time, all ordered different food and all came around the same time. Big breakfast, brie and cranberry toastie, chicken toastie and pie with peas and all was hot, fresh and lovely.

I had a very nice light meal here. You have the choice of taking baked items away or eating on three different levels. I sat in the ground floor area which is a little cramped but there was more space upstairs. I tried twice to have the lamb and mint pie but once was out of stock and a second time they were cold and needed time to be heated. What I did have I enjoyed though. Only warning ... the bakery closes at 4 pm to my surprise.

Called in on my own for lunch, the staff very helpful and cheery found my table and then ordered at till. The price was reasonable and the menu selection not bad, service was pretty quick and the place was clean and tidy. I had a club sarnie which was very nice but didn't like it served on a wooden board. Coleslaw was an extra as were the crisps shame really as some places do one or both inclusive. Had a latte which was really good too. Toilets spotless. Well worth a visit

Situated in the middle of busy Lancaster street, the young breezy ladies could not have been more accommodating. Although it was very busy they opened up the wee courtyard at the back of the shop which had a couple of tables set out, it was a lovely suntrap, to enable us to be served.

Just in Lancaster on a day shopping. Love the main street with all the charity shops etc. Have been here a few times before. Pie with mushy peas and gravy is to die for. No where is better. served with a proper pot of tea and lovely service from the staff what more could you want. Well I will tell you - the total bill for 2 of us was £8 something. What a bargain for such a traditional English Lunch. We have eaten all over the World so trust us ignore the negatives this is the place to be! Pie and Pasties at their best. Treat yourself. One last thing and probably the most important the toilets are spotless!

Lovely omelette of bacon and cheese. Tasty pot of tea. Daughter and hubby had great breakfasts and mother in law said lamb pasty was nice. Fruit pasty looked awesome but was too full to eat one. Also serve soya lattes.

I really don’t want to share this because we often miss out getting a table but….. For the last few years, the Silverdale hotel is the stand out place for food. I swear the pies in this place are incredible. I’m not sure Michelin do sars for pies but if they did, these guys would have 5 stars. Probably never get a table now🤷🏼♂️

Great pub, with history. Lovely staff, great pub grub (battered halloumi and chips), and beautifully kept beer. What's not to like! 😁👍

I've eaten at The Herbarium lots of times now and every meal I've had has been delicious. I love their matcha tea too. I'm not fully vegan, but try to eat a plant-based diet 4-5 days a week, and you certainly don't feel you're sacrificing anything in terms of taste, variety or quality at The Herb. A calming atmosphere and lovely staff too. Well done to the whole team (including the Chefs who probably don't get a shout out often enough) 👏
