Oh dear! Not a great experience at this new diner. They had no idea about customer service, nobody tells you that you are supposed to order at the bar, the food arrived in stages and was very mediocre and luke warm (not the ‘amazing’ burgers we were expecting), we had to ask for cutlery and condiments. Lots of improvements need to be made to this business if it’s going to survive - send in Gordon Ramsey?! It could be a great diner but sadly it’s not at the moment. Really disappointing experience so I won’t be going back.

This was my first visit, to the diner at the cornerstone. We booked a table and were greeted by the friendly people behind the bar, who showed us to our table. The menu consists of American themed hot dogs, mac and cheese, ribs and burgers. I had a burger with fries and we had side orders of onion rings and haloumi fries. Great food, we had plenty of cocktails, beers and a super meal all for £25 a head. They also had live music, which was acoustic, so you could enjoy it, but it was nor too loud so as to spoil the conversations at the table.

Walked in - asked about opening times. They couldn’t give me them. Only response from a customer ‘it opens and it closes’. Planning to have a beer in there too but not welcoming at all so left. Walked up the road to the Woolpack, lovely welcome great pint and very welcoming.

Arrived yesterday just after 12. 00. Opening time 12. The welcome we had was shocking as we had obviously caught the lady unawares and in no uncertain terms she told us so. . My brother actually left and came back in he was so apalled . Not a good start. The food was very mediocre and looking at the board behind the bar we all realised the stuffing had been left off our plates. When I queried it with her she told me in no uncertain terms that it was our fault. No apology or offer to get some for us. Now I want to make clear that the rest of the staff were great, but I and my family will never go in there again. Our choice. We felt totally a nuisance to her and her attitude was awful. Sorry, I usually only give good reviews but sadly not this time.

Pub was recently taken over by new husband/wife Managers and they have turned it into a friendly and welcoming place. Warm, clean, comfortable with good decor. Parking at the rear if required although due to it's Town Centre location plenty of nearby places to park. We are looking forward to trying the food, the Sunday lunch seems to be a big hit with the locals.

Popped in with friends and our children. Didn't feel at all welcome. Staff glared at us, felt very uneasy. So, we stayed for one and then left. Won't go back.

Breakfast, the most important meal of the day! Once again the delivery boys decided to ‘fuel up’ before starting their Saturday morning delivery round in Shefford. We headed to The Cornerstone, a familiar landmark in the centre of Shefford, and received a warm, friendly welcome from the management team, Rod and Michelle. The Breakfast menu is simple and straight forward at The Cornerstone, you get the basic full english, which includes 2 bacon, 2 sausages, 2 eggs and toast, plus you get to choose 3 of the following: mushrooms, beans, black pudding, tomatoes, hash browns, fried potato & onion or fried slice. You want it your way? You got it! There’s even vegetarian options as well. Tea or coffee is also included and both Andrew and I opted for coffee and were very impressed by the delicious Lavazza coffee that arrived at our table whilst we waited for our breakfast to be cooked. Breakfast arrived soon enough and it ticked all the boxes. Perfect eggs, fresh toast, tasty sausages, we scoffed the lot, a fantastic way to start the day! One of the good things about The Cornerstone is its prime location in the town centre and when sat at a window seat you are perfectly placed to watch Shefford life pass by. For a Saturday morning the pub was fairly busy, and as it turned out The Cornerstone is the meeting place for a local 'sports syndicate' called the '10:28 Club', who meet every Saturday morning at, yes, you've guessed it, 10:28am! They meet up for breakfast, banter and perhaps the occasional beer! A fascinating and entertaining bunch of people to meet. If you fancy a good full english breakfast then The Cornerstone is the place to go, serving breakfast between 10am and 12pm on Friday and Saturday, whilst on Sunday they offer a Sunday Roast.

We popped into the Cornerstone for a lunchtime pint and a sandwich. We wanted a pint of bitter but of the three on offer only one was available. It wasn't a bad pint to be true. On asking what food was on offer the bar person said grumpily that menus were scattered around the bar area. We found one and unfortunately there was nothing that we fancied. That's the good part written. The place was dirty and smelt of old fried food . It wasn't a pleasant place to be and we made a quick exit. The bar area needed a clean and freshen up .The tables hadn't been cleaned and it's not as though they didn't have time to clean it,we were the only ones in there. The bar person never smiled and she looked totally fed up. We went over the road to the bar opposite and the atmosphere couldn't have been more different . The bar person welcomed us and a young man introduced himself as the chef and spent a few minutes making sure we had something we wanted to eat. What a difference. Our wives found us in the second bar and their first comment was that they weren't surprised that we hadn't stopped at the Cornerstone as when they popped in to see if we were there it stunk so much they were nearly sick . Enough said. Hopefully we visited on a bad day

We decided to give this local pub a 'go' for Sunday lunch. We were not disappointed. There was a choice of 3 roasts, good sized servings of meat and ample well cooked veg and yorkshire puddings. The new managers are working hard to change the image of this pub and they are succeeding. We plan to return again. It is certainly family friendly at Sunday lunchtime.

Agree with other reviewers, this cafe often shuts early because of staff shortages or any other excuse they can think of or if they are open the staff go over the top to constantly remind you they are closing soon as if to say they don't want you in there.

Our 3rd consecutive visit here. The food is freshly prepared, fish and seafood dishes are the best we've experienced. The tiramisu is to die for! Service was excellent, chef even prepared dish without garlic for my mum - quite difficult when eating Italian!

The sun is shining, a pint of moretti, and a cheese and ham baguette with chips. All served with a smile. The baguette was fresh and still warm. 😀 recommend popping in.

- Sells nice drinks including milkshakes and frappes. They have a nice variety of drinks.- Food is average at best, best to just get a drink from there rather then to eat there as it is a small business.- Staff is welcoming and friendly.- Comfortable seats to enjoy a drink.-Not enough staff working at Coffee Licious, and that can cause a bit of fuss
