The Corner Plaice in Cambridge

I popped in here yesterday for a lazy tea and while there was a bit of a wait, the food was well worth it. The haddock and chips were brilliant; flaky, tender fish with a nice batter, and proper chippy chips; chunky, well-cooked and not too greasy. They also have an indian menu, and the onion bhaji were amazing, they were clearly home made and had a nice spice to them. Definitely going back.

Took forever but wouldn’t mind the wait if the food was good. Barely cooked chips @ super oily fish - would never eat from here again!

Delivery took 90 mins and some portions of chips were hardly cooked ,some of the fish was inedible as fish was so tiny and thin. It was all batter

Absolutely awful experience indeed. Arrived to get last minute dinner at 7.30pm, only one other customer in shop, already ordered theirs. Order taken quite quickly after I questioned whether they had any food cooking (fish, chips, battered sausage, pie) as food in display cabinets except pies, they said they were cooking. They didn't seem to know what they were doing, running off to the back of shop faffing around. All they seemed to care about was getting orders ready for delivery drivers and not face to face customers. After 25 mins waiting with people collecting, I was nearly ready to walk but got served eventually. Fish was nice, chips would have been nice if hot, pie just mush inside and battered sausage which looked more like spam and soggy batter!! Will definitely NOT be going back!!!

Hadn’t been to The Corner Plaice for years. It’s moved a few doors down and obviously under new management. We bought a portion of chips and battered haddock. Fish was obviously frozen fish not fresh, batter heavy and not crunchy. Chips greasy and not tasty. Disappointed, and will try elsewhere when I fancy some fish and chips.

This is the BEST FISH and CHIPS IN BUCKS!! Top quality food!

Apart from the late delivery I am very happy with my meal. Very cheerful delivery man.

Food was disgusting, stuff was missing, rang up and spoke to manager who refuses to do anything about it and was rude. Batter on fish burger wasn’t cooked properly, meat and chips was absolutely smothered in mayo with a drop of chilli sauce, chips were soggy, didn’t receive mushy peas, and apple pie was overcooked

Excellent food again and super fast delivery. Also they always do friendly when they arrive. Couldn’t recommend them more!

Brilliant chippy.. food spot on delivered quickly especially for a Saturday evening.. reasonable prices arrived piping hot.. would recommend.. will order again

Usually good food here but this time wasnt too good ,all was hot but chips were under cooked and so were the sausages,, chicken wrap hardly any chicken in and chicken curry a bit of a rip off 7.50 hardly any chicken and didnt even come with rice. . Bit dissapointing all round as i say usually good. Will give it another go though.

Really happy with the orders placed. Good food, delivered hot and good prices and menu range.

We ordered cod and chips it was delicious and arrived still piping hot. Will definitely be ordering again. The only downside is that there is only two of us and there is a minimum delivery of £15.00 would be better if it was £10.

Very hot on arrival very big portions

Food was very nice, but fish butter was without any seasoning (just salt, would helps a lot, it would increase the taste). But the good thing was that the butter was perfectly stick to the fish. Sides were great, especially mushrooms. Really nice. Definitely not my last order.

Another excellent dinner from Corner Plaice. Faster than expected delivery which was friendly as always. We tried some new dishes tonight, spicy chicken wings and the mega mix kebab - both have become new favourites. 5*

Enjoyed everything we will order again

The portion sizes were very small for the prices, I thought that because the 10 chicken nuggets were £4.20 that they'd at least come with a small chips like they do in other shops. They didn't unfortunately, but they were very nice. The delivery guy was lovely and stopped me from accidentally over paying, and when I got the order wrong they changed it right away with no problems when I corrected myself over the phone. Also I couldn't find an option for salt and vinegar, which was a shame.

By the time it arrived, the fish was soggy and unpleasant and had been soaked by the grease too.

not impressed by the “ribs” or rib would be a better description. batter on fish was too oily and thick. chips not bad. saveloy and sausages good. kids meals looked good. over all not great.

For the 3rd time in 5 orders something was missing from my order , good food but I'm fed up with the missing items , I'm going to order from else where from now on.

Overall was very good, food was delicious and will definitely be ordering from there again at some point, I did specify that I wanted the food to arrive at 2:30pm but it arrived somewhere between 1:30pm and 1:45pm as I was at work and 2:30 was my scheduled lunch break but other than that everything else was great!

Ordered fish and chips, bith item was too oily. Fish wasn't crispy at all. Beacuse of too much oil it was soggy.

While the delivery was early, and the driver pleasingly courteous, the meal itself let them down. The batter on fish was too thick and undercooked (Not crispy at all). Chips were soggy and also undercooked. If this is the standard, then I won't be buying again.

We ordered a different variety of food, all of which were horrendous. I have ordered from here before but will never be ordering again. My chips were disgustingly soggy & tasted as though a chemical had been sprayed over them. No amount of salt or ketchup could save them. I understand that chips get cold very quickly but they were inedible; my housemate's still seemed frozen. I ordered an egg fried rice & curry sauce. The egg fried rice was possibly the worst thing I have ever eaten from a takeaway. The onions (confused as to why there would be large chunks of onion in egg friend rice) where watery, uncooked and under seasoned or they were burnt to a crisp. The rice was soft and mushy, almost turning into a liquid in my mouth. The curry sauce tasted delicious, definitely one of the best chip shop curry sauces I've had but it could not make up for the rest of the food. The cod tasted as though it had been sat under a lamp for hours; the fish itself was dry and the batter was soggy. As previously stated, I have ordered from here before and the food has been piping hot & absolutely delicious. The customer service has always been top notch & there are always smiles on staff's faces which is why it was so sad that we had to throw almost all of our food away. After eating, I feel constantly nauseated & my gut will not stop bubbling - it's disgusting. We expected the delivery time to be a little later than we were told as it would have been peek time when we ordered so no problems there. Severely disappointing with the quality of our food & the fact that it has made us all quite unwell.

Food was ok a little bland. Good portion size. Food was still hot everything was included. No salt and vinegar on chips.

The fish and chips were ok , the burger was rubbish both the bun and burger were hard , the kebab meat was well overcooked, not sure I would order from here again

This guy and his business are the best. He has a smile on his face and his food is great as well, never let me down. Portions are good for the price, very well! packed. Great take away , happy to be in his delivery area.

First time we had a delivery from corner plaice as Usually go to the shop,food arrived on time and piping hot ,polite delivery man and food fantastic as always 5 stars ⭐️

The fish was realy good everything else was just standard. Also it doesn’t say if you order the fish it doesn’t come with chips or peas or mushy peas you have to order it on the side. So I have to go to the Kebab van next door to buy the chips. Quite disappointing but the food was ok. Also it takes a wile to be delivered

very fast delivery, arrived 20 mins early. jacket potato & fried mushrooms were nice. unfortunately the kebab was terrible - overdone, dry, hard donner and hardly any sauce. asked for sauce on the chips in the notes, didn't get any.

The chips were good chip shop chips but the fish was poor quality - there wasn’t much of it and there was too much batter and it’s wasnt all cooked.

Food was piping hot and delicious. The cod was extemely tender. We will most certainly order again.

Once again I have no complaints. Corner plaice is your regular chippy with so much more options if you fancy it. Great, friendly and punctual service. Food was delicious. I had a bacon double cheeseburger with salad and it put McDonald’s flimsy paper burgers to shame (it cost less than a Big Mac too). Forget your American giants. Go to corner plaice and support a local British business and you won’t be disappointed. 10/10

I was pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh and hot when it arrived.

I ordered at five, got a delivery time of six arrived at twenty three minutes past six. went to tuck in food was alright but small portions. then... I FOUND A TOOTH IN MY BURGER! ring the restaurant no one believed me and tried to say maybe it was a pet tooth. I have no animals then tried to tell me that they order there burgers when I was told that they hand made them in store by the first of four people that I spoke to. I got well i am sorry it was late not the fact the tooth was in a burger and not an offer of refund etc. very disbelieving so have contacted health standards who are dealing with this situation. be very careful and inspect food from here !!!!

Would recommend paying closer attention to what has been ordered. I ordered 3 sausages and 1 battered sausage and got 3battered and one normal. Very simple order ruined

Top marks to the chippie, as a large order it took a little longer but the food was all piping hot upon arrival at our office and they let us have a bottle of ketchup for free :)
