Fantastic food, you can tell its all made fresh. Stuffed Paratha was amazing and the rest was just as good. Ali and his family have an amazing business for other half a century in Cambridge, definitely check them out!

Best Pathia I've ever had. All food was very tasty, probably best quality Indian we have eaten. We had coconut delight lamb, vegetable Pathia, mushroom and potato bhaji, and mushroom rice. They also gave us a free plate of onion bhaji, and an extra poppadom on the house! We couldn't eat it all and told him it was a shame we couldn't take it all home as we were staying at a guest house for the night. He wrapped it up and gave us wooden cutlery for us to eat for lunch the next day! Thanks for the great food and great experience.

The prices do not match the advertised prices on the menus in the restaurant or on line. I asked for an explanation and was informed that the menu prices were being posted on line by members of the public not them??? I estimate I was overcharged by approximately £15/£20. As a long standing customer I was very dissatisfied. I won’t be going back again.

I went to Curry King with a large group, and the small staff did the best they could to handle our orders. We had a very long wait (more than two hours) for our food, but I think this is par for the course when such a large group goes to a fairly small restaurant. I was more concerned about the dry and bland quality of my main dish. I found out later that Curry King makes all vegetarian entrees without ghee, so they all have a dry and bland consistency. The meat-eaters in my group were happier with their entrees.

The owners or manager behavior is very bad, food quality n helping is very poor. Not worth for even half the billed amount. Be careful before you pay bill. I had a bad experience they charged extra over the menu price also added 15% service charge which is not mentioned in the menu. I objected for wrong n extra billing which they accepted but behavior was enexpected. For sure they are not Indians they are using name of India......be cautious before you enter.

The chef is particularly kind and helps non-bilingual customers find what they would like best on the menu! Everything is excellent and the portions generous. It is difficult to find somewhere to eat after 9 p.m., but here you will be welcomed with open arms

I took my family, party of seven for a curry here. Firstly the food. Food. Hot and cooked well. Most of us all had different dishes but I tried them all and they were all fairly bland with similar flavours. especially the Dhansak, Korma and Chicken Tikka Masala. Utensils: Clean but the plates were all stained and the cutlery was very old. The salt pot metal top was rotten/corroded and fell into my wife's dinner. The Building: Very run down. The Mens toilet was grim with the enamel missing from the toilet pan and you walk through a run down part of the building which is freezing on the 1st floor. The staff. One cook, one waiter. Very nice chap in a decorators overall. He serves both drinks and food and the wait is longer than expected. Overall experience and the bill. The cost of the food would be okay if it tasted better. The tip which is shown but well hidden is 15%!!! I thought this was very high for the experience we had. I will never go again but paid the bill as respected the chap serving. Overall, very disappointing. I would recommend the Curry Queen on Mill Road.

We weren’t sure about eating here at first as the place was completely devoid of customers when we arrived, however the staff member was extremely attentive and friendly and we did all enjoy our meal. All the place lacked was any atmosphere which I’m sure would have improved had we not been their only customers.

A very attentive and generous chef, who presents his cuisine to us to help us with the multiple possibilities of his menu. A cuisine full of creativity and subtlety, abundant and at moderate prices. For our child one of the rices was a little too spicy, he offered us one at no extra cost. I recommend !

Best Indian Cuisine i ever had in Cambridge. Try their Chicken Sizzler . It was amazing. The ambiance was quite nice. Peaceful area. Staff’s are very nice and polite. Surely i will next time when i come in Cambridge.

My husband and I come to Cambridge every summer and we look forward to coming to Curry King. Not only do they remember us, they even remember our drink order from year to year!! The food is very delicious - the spices are out of this world - one of the best Indian foods we’ve had.

Food here is fairly good, but overpriced. For sure we were overcharged being a larger group. Caution advised. Staff are polite and all that, no issues there but service was slow, we didn't get parts of our order for a long time, by which point the rest was cold.

Their food is AMAZING!! The owner (Ali) was so lovely and accommodating to me and my friend when we visited. Incredible service, and they even gave us two garlic naans for free. 100% recommended for both the flavourful, delicious food and their kind service. Curry king is one of the best loved establishments in Cambridge and has some of the towns best curry as well as great staff (especially the man in charge - Ali). I have been multiple times and always come back after enjoying the great atmosphere it has to offer. The establishment has a long history and is very welcoming to group events, both students and staff alike of up to 100 people. It is tucked in away between Gastrono-me and the tailors, 15 or so metres down the passage. If booking for a group event, don't forget to book early as slots get taken quickly. A must visit for any resident of Cambridge for either a family trip or dinner with larger groups!

A great little find in the centre of the town. We were a party of 8 and two of us don't drink so the manager let us bring in our own Alcohol Free beers which was great. Food was good and given the team were rushed off their feet the service was also very good. Would recommend for sure.

Came here for a meal and it was very quiet so weren’t sure what to expect. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was lovely and recommendations were great. They boxed up Our leftovers with extra rice so we had snacks for later. Fabulous, can’t recommend enough!!

We went to Curry King on a recent trip to Cambridge (August 2022). It was a very pleasant meal, delightful ambience and delicious food. They are recovering from all the COVID shutdowns so the menu wasn't as extensive and it would normally be. That said, everything we ate was wonderful, the restaurant was immaculately clean and the host (owner) was very attentive. This is a good place to go for something a little upscale in Cambridge.

I tried the curry king because so many Restaurants close their kitchens so early! After the first try I went back three times that week! From the friendly service, to the yummy food it was an excellent experience.

We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident, seen from the pub we were having a drink in whilst deciding where to eat. We were not disappointed, the food was very fresh, tasty and not your average menu. The service was second to none, would definitely recommend and would call again when we're next visiting from Cheshire. Lovely to hear the history of the Curry King.

Curry King is a must stop for people in Cambridge looking for Indian food. The service is excellent and the food is prepared very well.

Not very happy with the service or the grills. I ordered a spicy lamb grill and received a very sweet, mushy plate of mostly vegetables. I will not be coming back.

I have visited 'Curry King' on numerous occasions, over several years, when working at Cambridge Arts Theatre. Always a warm, friendly welcome. Delicious food, fantastic service in a relaxed atmosphere. A firm favourite, and I always look forward to returning.

We were looking around and decided on this place due to surrounding pubs all offering the same limited fayre: burger, fish and chips, lasagne, pie. It's off the main street down an alley which I think must harm their passing trade a little. But I'm glad we opted to visit. We chatted a lot to Ali as he served us and got some history of the establishment. He was very welcoming and happy to accommodate ordering off menu, given the slightly restricted menu now on offer after the pandemic. Rizza also served us and was equally as pleasant if a little less talkative than Ali. The food was good and well flavoured with heat to the dishes that needed it. No overuse of food colourings. Just tasty curry cooked well. You won't get fine dining surroundings here. But in my experience they aren't a good barometer of receiving a quality curry. We'll definitely eat at this restaurant again.

Nothing wrong with the food. The problem was with the staff; I know that UK rules have changed due to covid, which is well accepted and understood, but to be presented with the bill whilst in the middle of a meal - well before the cut off time is not very professional, but to be abused by the staff for not dealing with it then and there, is totally unacceptable. My bill was paid on time and within the legal timeframe. If this is the staff's attitude to customers, I would recommend staying well clear of the place. I know I will.

My wife and I ate here when we visited Cambridge two months ago. We only ordered a main course, which admittedly was tasty. We ordered two coffees with the bill. We were shocked when we the bill came to nearly £50. They stuck on a £5 service charge and charged £4.95 EACH for two cups of old coffee. Needless to say we ended up feeling ripped off and we did not leave a tip.

It's more of a 'lad's night out' kind of place than somewhere you would go for a first date. Having said that, the portions were big enough, the service was fine, and the price was OK.
