A great find, purely by accident. The first bonus it was dog friendly, second being they made vegan cakes! 🌱 I had a lovely peach and walnut cake with a delicious oat milk latte. We returned the next day where I enjoyed a coffee/walnut cake and coffee. The lower part of cafe is dog friendly, not the upper section, but there are plenty of seats. This cafe was constantly busy, the lunches looked to be very good too. Quirky cafe, would highly recommend.

Found this gorgeous place on a walk around Berwick. The menu drew us in straightaway with its imaginative vegetarian and vegan options and that was before we saw the specials board! It was difficult to choose, but eventually we chose 2 ciabbatas, generously filled with tuna, cheese and gherkin - the other with falafel and chilli jam, accompanied by a leafy salad and coleslaw or humour. The best tasting sandwiches we've had for a long time. Then it was time to choose cake and that was even harder! There was so many beautiful looking cakes and traybakes, again with really interesting fillings and flavours, but the mint aero and malteser traybakes won out. The accompanying coffee was equally gorgeous too. Great food, great staff, a lovely atmosphere - pretty much perfect.

Came across this cafe whilst following the L.S. Lowry trail around the town. We were made to feel welcome by the staff and shown to a table with our dog . I liked the eclectic retro feel and there are second hand books to purchase . There was a wide range of food to choose from and it is prepared in the kitchen on site. We ordered a pot of tea and each had a cake. The tea came in a lovely big pot and the cakes were delicious. The bill was very reasonable. After wandering around the town all day , this was a lovely find tucked up a side street away from the hustle and bustle of the main High Street. Thoroughly recommend.

First visit since October 2022. 200 plus miles is too much for more regular visits, even though the place is perfect!! Probably the best words to describe it would be eclectic and yummy. As a guide, we had six mains, 5 portions of cake and two and a half rounds of drinks and the bill came to £88. Everything was perfect and when we are next in Northumberland we will be back.

We stopped here for lunch on a day trip to Berwick. Staff were very friendly and we loved the eclectic decoration in the room. The pea and mint soup was nice but the bread that came with it a bit disappointing. We didn't try the cakes but they looked good. Given their baking skills perhaps they could bake soda bread to go with the soup rather than use supermarket type bread?

We went for a hot milk, cappuccino, fig and hazelnut cake, lotus biscoff cake and two broccoli and mushroom soups with a cheese and mango scone and a raspberry and white chocolate scone. Choice of cakes was great. I was concerned that the fig and hazelnut might be a bit dry due to the flavour choice however decided to give it a go and I didn’t regret it. it was moist and really tasty. The lotus biscoff cake was sweet, not too dry, would recommend. The broccoli soup was nice and thick, and the scones just melted in your mouth. The cafe was busy, and the only table left was a large table for the two of us but we were told to sit there. We were out in a slightly awkward position of being asked if we minded sharing the table after we’d already ordered. Personally we prefer not to, so said no, however it seemed like the waiting people were aware we were being asked so this did make us feel a bit uncomfortable saying no. The cafe was cosy, allowed dogs, and the staff weren’t unfriendly but definitely didn’t come across as friendly. Part of this might have been due to the fact that we said we didn’t want to share our table, and that we were originally just ordering two cakes..it did seem like the staff were friendlier when we asked for the additional items…almost like we were then worth the money and us taking a larger table than we required. This could just be my wrong assumption though. Would recommend the food and would go back.

This is lovely dog friendly cafe with a nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. I mention this issue as there is a simple solution and in order to try and help future visitors. The food took 40 minutes to arrive after we ordered and the reason for this is that 3 people came in and ordered takeaway coffee and cakes , they had to be served right away and that meant that we had to wait for something like 10 coffees to be prepared, served packaged and paid for before our food was then prepared. The solution is simple, stop doing takeouts, there are any number of places where people can go to in Berwick for this service so you are not letting anyone down but I stead giving your sit in customers the service that they deserve and expect, Hope this is constructive.

We visited the Cornerhouse for some lunch on a wet Monday and very welcome it was to. Friendly staff, quirky decor, second hand books and mix and match crockery - what’s not to love? We ordered a selection of hot and cold drinks, tea cakes, quiche, panini and soup all of which were very good. I visited the toilet before I left which involved walking past the kitchen. How the staff produce what they do from an area barely larger than a cupboard is a wonder. Oh, and being dog friendly was the difference between us visiting and not visiting so thank you for that.

Hadn’t been for over a year, thought as we was passing we would pop in, it wasn’t busy but stood waiting whilst girl on the counter was writing up the cake description, we then pressed the bell even though she had seen us, she then seated us, waited an age for order to be taken & was on the point of leaving, other table had ordered & had received there order even though they was after us ! The cake / tray bake that I ordered, I couldn’t swallow, it was dry & heavy, my husbands bake well sponge was ok. When I went to pay, I commented on the Turkish Delight cake & that it was inedible for me as I was unable to swallow it, she asked if I would like to take it home, I don’t know why as I don’t think eating at home would be any better, she then charged me for the privilege of ordering the uneaten cake, won’t be back as there is plenty of other cafes in Berwick with better customer service !

The Corner House is usually great but on this occasion, the attitude of the staff means I will not be returning. When we arrived it was full, we were asked to come back in 15 minutes. I if asked (as we had a small baby) could we put our nammea down. We were told no, but to come back in 15 and a table should be free. We returned in 15 to be met by another waitress who was very rude. The said they were full. She then said that we sit outside with a 3 month baby in the bitter wind if we wanted a table after I explained we had already. She didn't even take the time to have a look and see if one would be free soon. It was not as much what she said, but the rude way in which she said it. As we were leaving a couple offered to leave and give us their table (I assume that they had seen us earlier). She said words to the effect of "it doesn't matter".I understand it is the establishments policy not to book, but staff need to firstly understand a customers requirements and secondly, learn to be polite, empathic and adaptable where appropriate. All round disappoing experience from the Corner House. Best of luck to them as the tourist season draws to a close and they will have to survive on local trade.

This cafe is absolutely adorable, with beautiful decor and a collection of comfy seats and lots of seating options. A lot of choice on the menu with daily flavours for the soup, quiche and a savoury and sweet scones. We both ordered a soup (curried carrot with mango and coconut) and scone (cheese and chutney). The scone was warm and delicious - served with a little jar of butter - and the soup very tasty and a good amount. I then fancied the other flavour of scone (banana) so we got that and a crunchy slice (Tiffin with pieces of crunchie on top). Both were delicious though I wasn't able to taste any banana flavour from the scone... However this is so minor as it was still very fluffy and soft. We both had a flat white (mine with oat milk) and felt wonderfully full. The entire experience was an absolute pleasure, the staff were friendly, decor delightful and food scrumptious, I would recommend it to anyone visiting Berwick!

Having heard this was a good café I went in at 2.55pm for a coffee as was killing time in Berwick before picking up a child. Ordered at the till but didn't really want a cake. Waitress seemed to pull a face at the fact it was just a coffee and asked me to take a seat and the coffee would be served. Seemed a pleasant atmosphere, a mother breastfeeding her baby, a couple of others in but the café was not busy. My coffee never came. A waitress popped down the steps a couple of times but still no coffee. At 3.26pm I gave up and left. My first and definitely last visit to this café.

We stopped here for a snack and tea. It is a charming little restaurant with many knick-knacks, art work and books. They gave a large amount of tea and their menu was quite ample. We had some cakes which were delicious. It is easy to walk to from the center of town or the walls.

Was on holiday to Berwick last week & had noticed The Corner House had received good reviews so thought would give it a try and we were glad we did! Popped in for coffee & cake as a wee treat (for my birthday!) with 2 young children. Staff were very friendly & they have a great choice of cakes which were delicious! Very nice to sit in a warm & chilled out atmosphere! Will definitely go back when we are next in Berwick!

Had a pleasant late lunch of cheese & tomato quiche with cous cous, coleslaw and salad followed by cake and generous pot of tea. All very tasty, homemade food in homely wee cafe. Good selection of cakes and drinks at reasonable prices.

On our way to the highlands, we dropped in at Berwick-on-Tweed for lunch and it was a much lovelier experience that motorway services. We came here upon the recommendation of a vegan website and we were really pleased that we came. It is a really lovely cafe, homely with beautiful art, books and just a lovely space to come and eat. There was a great range of food and delicious home made cakes - including vegan options. My husband and I had a really lovely lunch here and would highly recommend it if you are in the area.

This interesting little cafe is very enjoyable with wonderful cakes. The choice is hard to make as they have such interesting flavours. Certainly worth a return visit.

We were wandering around Berwick hoping for a non-chain coffee house. So glad we found the Corner House! Quirky little cafe, very welcoming and interesting decor. The cakes were amazing - great range, huge portions, moist and delicious.

Visited serval times over the last year, lovely quirky, funky, friendly place, comfortable seating and the most amazing menu, healthy, hearty tasty soups, scones (the best ever, blackberry, rhubarb) and a simply delicious selection of beautiful cakes, all freshly made. Fantastic place.

Loved this little coffee & cake shop (they also do lunches). Very eclectic in its decor and contents; furniture and crockery is a collection of different styles and ages but comfortable (although I thought I had fallen through the seat of my chair and had to put 2 cushions into it!). Also serves as a used book shop. They serve excellent coffee and it's exactly the right spot to fuel up before/after visiting the barracks and museums.

Excellent food and prompt service from very efficient staff in a superb relaxing atmosphere. Very similar to the cafe experience in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.

Staff far to busy deal with a request for afternoon tea at 2pm, when they only had 4 customers in the place!

A quirky cafe, had been before, but wasn't overly impressed with being served quiche and salad on a tea plate and bits of food threatening to fall onto the table. The cole slaw was delicious, though. Decided to give the place another chance, but will not be back. We had the afternoon tea, which was not-freshly -made finger sandwiches (a good selection), quiche, which we had to ask for, although it was mentioned as being part of the meal, two of the driest scones I have ever been served, and heavy, leaden cakes, apart from a jam sponge which was so moist, it was stuck to the plate.

We asked friends who live locally for recommendations for places for lunch but they couldn't think of anywhere, so I had a look on Tripadvisor. We visited The Corner House on a Friday afternoon. My husband had the curry which was gorgeous and, bliss and joy, I had a gluten free brie and cranberry sandwich, which was served with a lovely fresh salad.

A quirky, welcoming cafe which we Visited for coffee and then couldn't resist the food on offer. Asked to share a BLT which arrived on two plates with side salad on each - absolutely delicious. Coffee was great and tea likewise served by friendly helpful staff. Dog friendly, a super black Labrador in with her family, open fire, comfortable seating and a choice of books to buy or just read while there. My friend visited the toilets which she reported were also quirky and immaculately clean. A great experience which will definitely be repeated.

Met friends for coffee, it was my first visit. Loved everything about this place, first impressions, the decor, amazing, homely, bang on trend, cosy, dog friendly. We had delicious Northern Edge coffee and homemade scone, the butter was served in cute recycled jars, grand open fire. Definately will be returning, next time for lunch. 5 star food and service,

As one of a group of cyclists from Newcastle Great Park, it’s always a good stop off before the final stretch back home. Butties and a drink 👍, along with friendly service. Courtyard round the back is great when the weather allows.

Played today, Mon 26th August, Great layout, but sadly the greens are diseased and awful, and the tee boxes are terrible, very expensive bar, and no food being served, even though there was a competition on, and the bar was busy, Sadly one to miss in the future.
