Lovely friendly staff, very accommodating. Very reasonably priced, much more so than some of their competitors. Generous portion sizes. Both of us had breakfast sandwiches rather than the full English options that were on offer, though there was something to meet everyone’s needs on their menu. Popped back for a takeaway sandwich as we were leaving town. Would recommend.

As a family, we were attending a nearby wedding, but staying overnight in Ellesmere. As we had booked rooms only, we were looking for a Sunday breakfast and The Corner House was just across the street from our hotel. All four of us were extremely satisfied with our breakfast as we were able to mix and match, or swap items, as long as they were listed on the menu. The portions were very generous and were washed down with cafetieres of coffee and lots of tea. The owners were very helpful and friendly, and the cafe was very welcoming. If we're over this way again, we will definitely pay another visit!

I went for breakfast at the Corner House when staying at the hotel over the road. My parents are regulars at the cafe and recommended it for having good food and very friendly staff who were always happy to cater to what customers asked for provided they had it in stock. The breakfast and tea were very nice, good value for money and the cafe itself was great fun - a very individual place that’s quite unlike a chain cafe and even has some great little relics of its former life as a chemist and opticians branch.

Upon entering the empty establishment on an otherwise busy Friday afternoon we were met with the stench of chip fat. Everywhere else was packed out and I needed to feed my baby so we had no choice but to stay. We all had to have showers and wash our clothes when we got in. My baby’s pram also still reeks the following day. This is unacceptable, avoid unless you want to stink!

Buena comida a buen precio.

My husband and I moved to Ellesmere in the spring and today we decided to pop into The Corner Cafe for lunch. I'm sorry we didn't go sooner as lunch was one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. For £15 we had turkey with all the trimmings, a turkey, sausage and stuffing baguette, a glass of wine and a diet coke. The turkey dinner special was the smaller portion but was more than plenty! I couldn't finish it and can't imagine how big the large portion would have been. The plate was hot and my food was piping hot until the last bite. The turkey was perfectly cooked, and came with roast potatoes, new potatoes, parsnip, sausages, stuffing, brussell sprouts, carrots, gravy and cranberry sauce. It was one of the best turkey dinners I've had. My husband was quite pleased with his baguette and as he's a picky eater, I was impressed. The service was quick and the couple who run the cafe are very friendly. I can't wait to go back.

Its 3 years since we were last at the corner house and its just as good as we remember it. Its only small but offer a surprisingly good selection of snacks and meals served with a smile. Could not fault the bacon brie and cranberry sandwich - 3 rashers of bacon, generous slices of brie toasted on a choice of breads, a pot of cranberry sauce and salad garnish. Not just a mug of instant here - the coffee cafetiere was served with warm milk. I hope its not another 3 years before we are back in Ellesmere.

Having enjoyed one of the numerous mere walks in this part of Shropshire a good filling inexpensive luncheon was called for and delivered by The Corner House'. Off the extensive menu I chose ham, egg & chips as my main and what a platter was presented all freshly prepared with a bread and butter pudding and custard to finish off which set me up for the return journey. Ellesmere is a hub for the scenic Shropshire Union canal and I would recommend a visit to 'The Corner House' by any visitors arriving by narrow boat or on foot.

We had our works Christmas do here for 30+ people and we stayed the night. Front of house staff were lovely and welcoming, but that is all I can really say nice about our stay. Our room was like something out of the 70/80s very twee and old-fashioned. Quilt cover had a rip in it. Bath looked old, faint smell of cigarette smoke. No soap, shower gel etc in the bathroom - to help save the planet apparently - you could request some at reception. We were woken about 6am by what I assume was some kind of water cistern behind one of the bedroom walls that sounded like a plane going over head. The party. Arrival time was stated as 7pm and most (about 180) turned up about then. We were all crowded into the bar which wasn't big enough and soon warmed up to a very uncomfortable temperature. They eventually let us in at 8pm. Drinks were astronomically expensive - £7.50 for a pint £8.20 for a Baileys or a large glass of wine (£25+ by the bottle) and £7.20 for a pint of coke!!!. The main course wasn't served until after 9pm and my beef was dry and tasteless, though others who had the turkey said it wasn't bad. And my Xmas pudding was dry too. All in all not somewhere I would ever go again and certainly don't know where it gets it 4 star rating from. I did voice most of my complaints to reception before leaving.
