We booked The Corinthian for a corporate event on 11th Sept 2024; the process end to end was perfect. The venue offers stunning views, the staff was super helpful & accommodating. The food was delicious and facilities were perfect. Feedback from guests was excellent. I'd highly recommend this venue to local businesses considering an event, will re-book again when we are next in Plymouth! Once again, thank you all!

An amazing evening watching fireworks from the boatyard. The past reviews are not adequate anymore … me and my sister had a blast … super music beat before the display, great bar with everything you can wish for with friendly staff, loads of space and comfy deck chairs and the best by a mile place to watch the fireworks. From now on I will be there every year for sure. Huge thanks to Misael and his team for all the hard work - well worth it x

Given all the reviews for British National Fireworks, I thought I would put in a review. We watched them from the Boatyard. £15 for a prime position, however, as my friend pointed out, that included easy access to a bar, food and toilets. There are, if course, a lot of steps down to and up from the Boatyard. We took our own pop up chairs as we thought they might be more comfortable than the deckchairs. Bar had all the basics, food on offer to buy (Persian Street Food) was incredibly good value for the quality. Background music. It depends what you are looking for, always, however I would definitely recommend as a very good option

I previously rated The Corinthian as very poor. That was a couple of years ago. So here we are Jan 2024 a double 21st party. We thought we would try again with different owners. Well what a turn around. Communication was great from start to finish. I totally understand we are in difficult times and a refurb of the place would be costly. However the changes that have been made are great. Everything flows better and the tented ceiling is beautiful. I can imagine a wedding would be dressed beautifully here. I like the fact that Rae was on hand during the day to give us any assistance should we have needed it. In the evening plenty of bar staff that worked very hard. So all in all we can not fault the Corinthian at all. So thank you very much. We will definitely recommend you

As has been well reviewed l too was present at the firework championship and yes it was unfortunately not a good experience but l understand new owners had taken over and were clearly not prepared for what happened, too many people in an area not bug enough to cater for them. I must however compliment the management for the way they responded and we recievex full refund. I don't like to leave negative feed back as times ate tough enough but l hope next year they bypass the buffet idea and settle for set menus alongside only selling tickets for the amount of people who can comfortably congregate outside, l am aware that many couldn't actually see the firework display. Hopefully this learning curve will bring rewards for future events.

Thursday Night Firework Championship. This event was super over priced. The place is run down, especially in the rear room. The food really wasnt great, dry, chewy, bread was rock hard and desserts were brought in from morrisons. £30 and people had to split up in their groups just to get a seat. When it came to the firework display, there was very little room on the balcony and felt very squeezed. I think the people who paid less to be downstairs got a better deal! We did ask to go down there but got told as we were VIPs, we couldn't do that. Overall, it felt oversold and poorly planned. Its a shame as they have a great location.

£30 per a head for the firework championship event. 0 food. Lack of seating, it seems likely all the chairs were taken downstairs to the lower ticket price area because they DID promise seats there. Which the rude "manager" insisted we should have bought if we wanted seats or a guarantee of food, in possibly the strangest incident of downselling instead of upselling I've ever seen. 0 manners or professionalism from management when confronted with a number of complaints. 0 value for money. You need only look at the other reviews from the same time frame to establish that the whole thing was a farce for many, the minority seemingly having attended an entirely different event. Running out of food on a promised buffet less than an hour into being open is insane. Won't ever be returning. One can hope whoever is above the management we dealt with realises something needs to be done.

We also attended the Corinthian on Wednesday 16th for a £30 (each) evening viewing fireworks with hot food and snacks available, venue advertised from 6 to midnight, arriving at 7.30 we were, to say the least, disappointed to find very little food left, a few sandwich scraps, two warm trays of something in batter (not labelled). When asked if the buffet was going to be refreshed the staff decamped to the kitchen. There were several groups unhappy at the food situation and requested to see a manager, the manager blamed the voracious early arrivals and the only refreshing of the buffet that I saw prior to us decamping was a tray of oven chips. The venue had made little effort with seating/tables and as has been stated in other reviews the boatyard had more tables and seating and from what I could see a better view of the fireworks. In mitigation the management eventually agreed to reimburse those who chose to leave immediately (not a hardship). Think carefully if you should choose this venue for fireworks, or anything else, for that matter. Feel free to contact me if you would like further confirmation. I would say it was badly and careless organised but I would have to use the word organised which would be incorrect. Dreadful.

Thought it would be worth splashing out £30 a head for the vip experience to watch the fireworks. What a let down. Nowhere near enough seating for the number of tickets sold and not enough food. Very poorly organised. Yes it's a fantastic view, but having to stand up from 7pm to the end of the fireworks was no fun. We wished we'd bought the cheaper tickets for the downstairs boatyard area, as there appeared to be plenty of seating down there. We won't be returning.

Fireworks word championship at the Corinthian was the best view I have ever had, location was brilliant and the staff couldn’t do enough. Was a busy night and all have some glitches, but dealt with very well. Heard people complain a lot about seating as they turned up late and expected groups of seat to be left empty for them. Most customers were very understanding and made many new friends. Food was absolute top notch, would Definately do it again and take friends. Thanks all!

Couldn't agree more with Helen T. Phoned prior to booking to confirm that dairy free food would be available was informed that 70% of the buffet would be dairy free as she (the person who answered our query) was also dairy free she also confirmed that the table was ours for the evening giving an impression all guests would have a table. Booked for the VIP experience at £30 per head. Arrived early and managed to get a table of which there were few. By the time we reached the buffet the majority of sandwiches had gone. The dairy free option was limited to salad and chips. The veggie labeled sandwiches had dairy cheese in them so unsuitable. Once the sandwiches were gone they were not replenished and hot food replenished in small quantities throughout the rest of the evening. Not all food items were labelled and none had ingredients. Asked several servers as to ingredients of various items and none appeared to know and swiftly departed back into the kitchen. One staff member actually replied that as I had a wrist band all food was free! (take it he must have misheard me) Got hold of the manager and ask to see the allergy lists so that we could decide on what was suitable but this list was not forthcoming. Very vague answers to what items may contain milk. Helen T assumes those at the front of the queue may have taken all the food, to which I say although some plates were piled high at the start I would expect this considering the time of day. People had come to be fed and not to have party nibbles. Looking around the tables all plates were empty no left over food anywhere. It appeared to me that those who had paid the £12 ticket had more tables available (although food was extra). The view of the fireworks was very good but unfortunately it does not put right the failings of the buffet. They had not anticipated that most diners would be coming for an evening meal quantity of food considering most arrived at 6pm. Would I book there again - definitely not

I am writing to say how disappointed I was with the experience at the Corinthian tonight for the firework championship. £30 per ticket is not inexpensive - but I wanted to treat myself and my partner on our anniversary. On arrival around 715 there were no chairs left and after queuing for the buffet only a few sandwiches and chicken nuggets remained. I thought more food would be made available but I gave up waiting. It feels disingenuous to sell tickets for the lower deck area for £12 and charge more than twice as much at £30 for a substandard buffet with no seating. It’s was extremely poorly organised. I can only imagine that earlier diners had eaten substantial amounts to get their moneys worth or you had grossly miscalculated the amounts required to cater for the people attending. It was ironic that I had a sandwich that I had brought with me confiscated at the door on the grounds that ‘plentiful food would be available’. Nothing could be further from the truth. I intend to publish this review on social media as I’m sure many others will. You are already aware how shambolic the evening was due to the multiple complaints made in person by guests at your venue. You were not apologetic and made little attempt to compensate guests for their negative experience. Rather you decided that you would allocate tokens for the buffet the next night!! The views may be amazing here but the service and value for money are appalling. Never again. And I’m a local….. as we’re many of the other disgusted customers. You owe people an apology. It was not good enough. Not even close. Please plan better and have a heart - £30 er person for very little buffet and inadequate seating is not good value at all. And blaming the earlier diners for overeating is not good enough either….. it is your responsibility to consider how you manage potential buffet binging and also proving seating for the 200+ guests.

Great venue, went to the boat yard outside area, sadly that's where it ends. Meals outside serves in polystyrene takeaway boxes, drinks in throwaway plastic cups, condiments all plastic sachets, service poor, no check to see if everything okay and did not come back with some of the condiments requested. Dissapointing to see such plastic and polystyrene thrown away in this climate and from a sea front venue. Sadly will not return due o all of above Cost for 3 basic takeaway meals squid and chips x2, scampi and chips x1, one half pint beer, 2 drinks of cordial and soda £36.

Now don't get me wrong - this venue has stunning views and is very reasonably priced as a wedding venue. The food was outstanding and the size of the venue was perfect for what we needed. However, there are a few glaring organisational issues that need to be addressed. Firstly, over the two years from putting our deposit down to the wedding day itself, we had three different wedding coordinators, with no email or handover between each one to let us know this had happened. People leave roles, we get it, but it would have been great to have been informed of this. However, the coordinator for the day was generally quite negative when we dropped things off and on the day of. She confused the timings by telling people that food was at 5, despite us repeatedly putting it as 5:30. When I questioned this on the day (after all the guests were seated for 5), I was told that food wouldn't be until 5:30?! Staff were a bit rubbish overall, with bar staff overheard saying that they wanted to have a go on the photo booth that we had paid for our guests to use. When they asked the wedding coordinator, she was overheard saying to wait until "guests had had more to drink and then they could". We then went through our poloroid guest book to find photos from the bar staff (these film cassettes are expensive and we only wanted them used by guests). The bar staff also had friends who were not working the wedding just sat at the bar, chatting to them. Overall, much to be improved. This venue has the potential to be absolutely incredible with a bit of basic customer service and common sense. A bit of a revamp is need in the toilets as well!

Group of us met here to watch the fireworks. We sat and enjoyed the display..... The beer choice was poor and service slow despite the best efforts of some staff. We wanted some of the Greek street food on offer(?) but they were struggling to cope. Over two hours after arrival we were asked if we wanted to order by which time we'd already left and gotten fed at other vendors and returned. When we originally arrived I'd already been disappointed by there being no vegan option or even an attempt to offer a vegan friendly version of the single veggie option (just remove the cheese???) If we come to Plymouth again for the fireworks, we'll find somewhere better to watch.

I was given a surprise birthday meal here and my first time here. The menu did look nice, however the prawn cocktail was not the usual, a few prawns with nothing resembling a rose marie sauce, on a plate with a small doughy roll. The main course was a carvery with either beef or lamb. I asked for lamb and the chef went to give me beef and I had to point out the difference between the meats. The vegetables had been under the heaters for a long time and were very dry. The gravy was very oily and difficult to mix together. The consequence of this meal was that a couple of our party were unwell. I am disappointed as this was arranged as a surprise meal for me. This 'restaurant' needs to read their reviews and make some serious changes!

So to say we were all intrigued and excited (having looked at the menu online and knowing all of the food is locally sourced) was an understatement.... I went to a christening at the RPCYC. The menu was a three course carvery. The starter was a prawn cocktail which had about ten tiny shrimp like prawns on a bed of leaves and a small drizzle of dressing. The main course took an age to arrive at the table. When we enquired into the delay we were told that the potatoes and veg were ready but the meat was still cooking, it was approx 1700 at this point. When the food was eventually served there was one tiny piece of dry beef and a sliver of dry turkey but no gammon as was promised. The yorkshire puddings were mostly burnt, the veg was cold, the broccoli was mushy, the ‘ cauliflower cheese’ was just cauliflower with a little sprinkling of cheese and the potatoes were over cooked. The ‘gravy’, when it arrived was not thickened at all it was like water. When I asked for a replacement for my burnt yorkshire pudding I was told that only one per person was prepared and there were none left. The dessert was at best adequate, but I suspect that the deserts were bought in. The function manager was absent and I suspect she was purposely avoiding the complaints she knew she would be getting. Terrible meal, everyone left hungry and dissatisfied. They ruined what should have been a special day for my friends and their baby.

All 4 drinks were served with different varieties of burnt and inedible biscuits which, if baked at home, would have gone in the bin.Coffee and teas were served without sugar and milk which i had to go in search for. No please or thank you whatsoever from the staff member when i politely asked for the bill at the bar. All left feeling as though we had put the staff out in some way. Would not recommend and will not return. Such a shame for a prime location with beautiful views.

For many years I have attended this yacht club and the food has always been a bit bland and not exciting. However things have changed. Gone is the long bland menu. Replaced by a short fiver menu for lunch and breakfast, everything a fiver so no worries about cost. I had sausage and mash and coffee for £7.10 all served with attendant waitress in a cheery way. I will go again now a lot sooner than leaving a couple of years in between visits. Give it a try of course there is the wonderful view of Plymouth sound and all its comings and goings

We attended the yacht club, which is open to non members, for Burns Night. It was fabulous and great value at £30 a head for non members, £25 for members. There was a piper who piped in the haggis, the traditional Ode to the Haggis was read out and after dinner some excellent live music and country dancing, enjoyed by all whether, they knew how to dance it not! The food was either salmon roulade or terrine, traditional haggis neeps and tatties (or an alternative), marmalade pudding with custard or Scottish crannachan with fresh raspberries. All followed with cheese and biscuits, and coffee. A great night out. Worth looking out for functions here as they are brilliant at them. The club is also open if you are out on the Hoe for a walk for drinks or afternoon tea or even lunch and the views are stunning.

Used this place a few times for drinks lately with friends. You don't have to be members.Had lunch here 25/1/17. I had a Jacket Potato with Cheese & Beans. Came with side salad and Coleslaw. Partner had a Tuna and Sweetcorn Sandwich, again with side salad and Coleslaw. The damage? £5 each! They also do 1/2 portions for kids (we were entertaining a 6yr old) for £2.50! Service was very good and despite a party of 20-25 in, we only waited 10 minutes!I have attached their 'Fiver a day keeps the hunger away' Menu.Child and Dog friendly

We visited the RPCYC for a company Christmas party, things started off well.Once seated at one of the large circular tables the leg gave way and the table dropped emptying the contents of 2 full bottles of wine and a table full of drinks. A couple of wine glasses smashed on the floor around my wife's feet, the table landed on he legs. The contents on the red bottle of wine emptied on to my wife's dress, soaking it through along wither handbag.A member of the waiting staff came over and repositioned the leg, and walked off. No sentiment of concern and no intention of clearing the mess. Considering the amount of glass on the floor and quantity of drink I find it unbelievable the waitress failed to notice the mess.My wife went to the bathroom to clean herself up, expecting someone from the staff to show some concern and enquire if she was ok. This did not happen. While the table was still sodden with drink and glass on the floor, the same waitress and other members of staff tried to serve the starters. I had to insist they take the food away! The people at the table pointed out the mess but again the staff showed no interest.Expecting someone from the staff to enquire why we had rejected the food was sat and waited, and waited....I eventually had to confront a member of the waitress staff and the chef who was serving food to witness the appalling mess.Only when I physically showed the chef the mess did they eventually replace the tablecloth. There was no offer to replace any drinks until we requested.Further complaint from the work mate who arranged the meal resulted in 1 bottle of Presseco. This hardly compensates for the wine drenched dress, handbag, tights, shirt and trousers we received!During the evening we witnessed one of the other tables collapse. The next morning we e-mail the club to express our disappointment in the service we received, this e-mail and a follow up e-mail have never been acknowledged. We are extremely disappointed in the service and couldn't care less attitude from this restaurant. We won't return, but there again I don't expect the staff care.

We booked a Christmas lunch here for 8 people in the room looking over Plymouth Sound. Brilliant views across the Plymouth foreshore. When we sat down for lunch the room was very cold and some of my friends kept their coats on throughout the meal! Radiators were not switched on and we were supplied with a small fan heater which was completely inadequate. We all had two courses, the starters were very well presented and delicious. Some opted for desserts which again were very well presented but not very good quality, very stodgy. We selected various main courses but shared the vegetables of sprouts, carrots, parsnips and roast potatoes. There was plenty for everyone but the carrots and parsnips were bland and the roast potatoes were very well over done! The turkey was also bland. It is a fabulous venue and I was very disappointed as last year we were very satisfied. The price of £12, £14 and £17 for 1, 2 or 3 courses was we thought expensive for what we were served. We did get a Christmas cracker and serviette. A restaurant ĺike this should ensure they serve a higher quality product for this price.

I held my Big Birthday Party here at the beginning of November. The staff were very responsive to all my requests leading up to the party, and on the night itself they could not have been more helpful. The 'Winter Wonderland' theme was lovely, the food was good, and Barry the DJ from Shot in the Dark was brilliant. All my guests have commented on how great the venue was, and I'd happily use it again. Alison

A group of 6 of us had lunch here. We sat at a table overlooking the harbour which was very pleasing. The food and service was excellent. The restaurant is attached to the Yacht Club so there was some interesting pieces of memorabilia to look at.

I attended a wedding here last weekend and was very impressed. The quality of the food was excellent and the service speedy and unintrusive. It's always difficult to serve a large number of people at the same time, usually the quality suffers but not so in this case. A fresh fruit starter, roast chicken main course (I had the veggie option, a mushroom ragout) and ginger cake and custard pudding were all very well received. The restaurant is right on the sea front and has a terrace with amazing sea views.

What the yacht club is great at is events be it weddings training days and of course the fish festival. The food was delicious and great value for money. We ate there twice over the festival and weren't disappointed. Worth a visit and if you want something different they will always accommodate if you let them know. Stunning views give it a try it is open to the public.

Came for the carvery with family last week.Food was fantastic, as it has been on previous visits. Good views from inside and outside on the balcony. Bar service was a tad slow, perhaps because there was a function going on, but the staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.

I like the charm of this place and the memorabilia and style that it holds. It's kind of hidden from the main pavement above but once you venture down and capture the views and beautiful Summer bedding plants at this time of year, it's always a pleasure to visit here. A well kept establishment and friendly staff, and always a nice menu. I must remember to visit more frequent. It is a pleasant treat to share. Thank you.

We visited for a lunchtime meal to see if it was appropriate to bring a French group to dinner. We decided it was not. The views are fantastic but the food, service and presentation were all poor. It really is an old-fashioned sailing club, not a commercial restaurant and it should decide which it wants to be and concentrate on the better points. Our meal was slow to arrive, the meat pies were runny and the meat tough. The service was very pleasant but not professional.Prices were very low, but gave strength to the saying that 'you get what you pay for'.

Visited on Sunday July 31 for carvery lunch and we were very disappointed. The beef was of a very poor quality, there was no colour or crispiness to the roast potatoes and the gravy was as thin as dishwater. This was a real shame because the decor and the position of the restaurant with views looking out towards Plymouth Sound are breathtaking. Very disappointing.Steve & Margaret, Plymouth.

We came here for breakfast on armed forces day. It has a wonderful position overlooking Plymouth Sound . The staff were young and enthusiastic. The breakfast menu was fairly limited but fine I had pancakes with banana and bacon, strange combination but pleasant and my husband had a sausage barm. There was a bit of a faff at the end when the bill was miscalculated but it was soon rectified. I'd come back for dinner or lunch without hesitation.

A lunch with friends on a quiet afternoon was enhanced by beautiful views of Plymouth Sound. We all enjoyed the four different dishes we ordered but they took an inordinately long time to come. I am a Plymothian and like to think that all my snobbery is inverted but I felt that we might have be tempted by a different line from, (joo wanna dessert or anythin'?). For me, informality is preferable to an air of condescending superiority. The venue is worthy of just a little more finesse - friendly finesse would have increased my review from a 3 to a 5.

Food fantastic - beef and lamb so tender it could have been cut with a butter knife. Live music great. Emma, Chef and all staff so welcoming and attentive. The view of the sound is the best in Plymouth. Good job we booked in advance! Made a reservation for St Patrick's Day before we left this afternoon.

This venue is a hidden gem! I've been in here many a times for cream tea while I complete work on my laptop, and have also dined in here for a Sunday carvery. The staff are always pleasant, it has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the food is always super tasty. I can't fault it! This place is so versatile; whether it be a day-time lunch venue, evening dinner venue or weekend party venue it's great! I thoroughly recommend it!

Just organised my husband's 30th party here and couldn't fault it. The staff decorated the venue beautifully, the food came out hot and on time. Even had an extra buffet item thrown in. Staff were friendly and they didn't complain once about our bad singing, dancing and loud music!! We were even given the extra 2 rooms to put a casino and photo booth in. Would definitely have another party here. The staff were very helpful and did all they could to ensure it ran smoothly. Thanks so much, love from the Sloans ☺

Where do I start. We had a fantastic private works party with nothing but positive feedback from every guest that attended. The venue looked beautiful as a winter wonderland theme and the staff were so helpful and polite. The food was so tasty and we were all served swiftly and with a smile. If you are looking for a beautiful venue with great food, competitive prices and helpful and polite staff, then I would highly recommend this venue for a Christmas works party.

Came here for a Christmas works do. Several was really disappointed with our food. The starter on the menu was haddock terrine but we were served smoked salmon and nothing was said! The stuffing and parsnips came out raw and their was batter dripping from the Yorkshire pudding! All in all a really disappointing meal, definitely not worth £29!!!!

Not impressed with price of food. Decided on the tapas menu, and had salad leaves, and filled Yorkshire puds. Salad was ok, but not much election, and their were three tiny Yorkshire puddings, which were hardly warm. Had a dessert of roulade, caramel and cream, which was very nice, made up for the sparse lunch a bit. Worst bit, was on visiting the ladies toilet, the men's door was ajar and the smell was terrible. When I asked the bar staff they said it was to do with the chemicals toilets they have to operate. But I was astonished, especially since the diner was full of business people. Not a good experience.

From the looks of the egg white the pan needs cleaning more. Still enjoyed though, but egg should b runny
