Coriander was by far one of the best curries I’ve had in a while! Being situated outside of Buckhurst Hill station with a car park right beside the station it was very convenient and easy to get to. Upon arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful making us feel comfortable straight away. The food was amazing and arrived on time even as the restaurant was close to being 100% full! I would for sure recommend coriander for anyone in the Buckhurst Hill area and I’m sure many other people would recommend it to! They have a takeaway service and click on collection service alongside their dine in services, with all information on this being accessible via the website or by calling them.

The food is very great (especially the naan which has like the best texture). It’s also located conveniently next to b’hill station. However it was a bit hard to get the parking done and also quality of staff should definitely require improvement. However the way the serve the food with alll the hot plates are really good— that way it can keep the food warm. Cost like 20 quid per person while being 80% full. Food: 8/10 Service: 2/10 atmosphere: 5/10 Price: 5/10

We came here to eat really late on a Thursday 10pm, only people in the restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and we were not rushed at all. Service was excellent and the food tasted great too.

Haven’t been to the restaurant itself but any time we want Indian food, we order from here. Best curry and naan I’ve ever had. Perfect portion sizes. Tastes incredible. Will never change restaurants. Anything I get from here is perfect!

Arranged for a delivery, it came 1.5 hours later after chasing several times, the person on the phone was unhelpful and couldn't care less. And to top it off the food was cold. Will not go back.

We came in and was sat exactly at 9pm on a sunday. Their online closing time says 10:30 but was told that we had to hurry up since they closed at 10 instead. We wasnt given a minute to think about what we wanted and was asked for drinks and starters before we even opened the menu. Not a few seconds later someone else came over and said that we had to order mains. Our order was completely rushed and we had countless interruptions throughout our meal from staff taking everything they could off of our table. The meal was uncomfortable and staff were constantly staring and standing directly next to the table. Overall we were in and out in less than 40 minutes and was a terrible experience. We've been countless times before but won't be coming back. Regret waiting for the food, we should have just cancelled the order and left.

I have to say I think this place has really upped it's game. I've been here twice in the past couple of months with a group of school mums for a night out. Both times the place has been packed out and everyone's meal has been excellent. Hot, plentiful, tasty. I've lived in buckhurst Hill for 10 years and we had visited the restaurant years ago and not been very impressed but it is honestly well worth a visit now. The salmon sula was beautiful.

Living in Buckhurst Hill for 10 years, we regularly visited The Coriander. Finding ourselves in the area last weekend after leaving in 2011, we took the opportunity to visit The Coriander on Saturday night. So pleased we did. The food was delicious as we remember, service was great, friendly and welcoming. The restaurant has undergone a refurbishment since we were last there, which adds to the lovely atmosphere. Really enjoyed the Fish Rogan, one of the Bangladeshi specials, which was full of flavour but not too spicy. Would definitely recommend The Coriander. Looking forward to visiting again soon...an excuse to find ourselves in the area again!

We were regular customers up until we left Buckhurst Hill in 2011. We returned for a meal on Saturday night and are happy to say the food is still excellent, the service is great and the room has been refurbished to a very high standard since we left. I highly recommend the Bangladeshi fish curries. Not too spicy and loads of flavour. We definitely won't be leaving it another dozen years until we return!

Was here last night ordered chicken madras and rice it came and the madras was bland not spicey whatsoever the rice when poured on the plate was covered it a puddle of water , never ever will I go here again

Indian ocean in theydon is much better. Staff are hit and miss some are just average but the younger staff are rude. Used to come to the coriander every week with family, re-visited recently after a year but disappointed and wont be going back. Food is a 6/10 at absolute best.

First class! Best curry in the area. Love it.

Extremely disappointed. Waited nearly an hour and a half to get stone cold food which was spilled everywhere. Looked as if the driver sat on it. Then when I got spoken to rudely and got told I’d have to keep the ruined food or wait another hour and half for new food.

This place is getting better. When I first moved to the area 6 years ago the food was average but the food has been really good last few visits

The Coriander is quite unique in the fact that it's a stand alone building within Buckhurst Hill Station. Don't let it fool you, it's definitely one of the better "Indian" restaurants that you have the pleasure of visiting. If you want sit down and have a good meal with an authentic atmosphere then this is a good place to choose.

I ordered a delivery, it was over 2 hours late and cold, not a care from the restaurant. The food from here is not that good anyway, different piles of mush that just tastes the same. Save yourself the disappointment and order from somewhere else, there are plenty of decent Indian restaurants to choose from, this isn't one of them.

We've used this restaurant for years (eat in and delivery). Up to now, great taste and good sized portions but last few deliveries been a let down and incorrect/missing items. Last night we waited 2hrs for delivery. When ordered at 8pm, showed an hours wait, online updates showed it had been delivered at 9.15. We chased it up and told another 15 mins. 45 mins later, 2hrs since ordered, it arrived. We told them if we'd known how long it would take, would've ordered other food elsewhere. The food was not as high quality as usual, lumps of metallic food colouring on pilau rice (which has managed to stain our plates), and due to poor taste/service, will not be booking for large, forthcoming family event. Will find alternative Indian to eat in and order delivery from.

It was OK, a nice massala sauce and would probably use it again if walking past for an impromptu meal and dine in. But it wasn't better than our usual take away. My main criticism is more about value for money. Onion bhaji £4 but you only get 3, £4 for 2 small and basic samosas, chapati are over £2 for 1 and they aren't massive. Everything seemed more expensive and smaller or not as good.

We ordered from the Coriander last night so we didnt have to cook boxing day after a big christmas. The food arrived our order was all there. We had a great meal fully enjoyed by all. The next day... I've absolutely destroyed the toilet! I've redecorated all the walls and cannot stop SH*TTING to save my life. My brother ordered a madras and johnny cash is over his singing to him! Explosive diarrhea had by all! 5 STARS!!!

All the usual dishes you'd like from Asian cuisine plus some of their own specials. Food tastes great, the right balance of spices and flavours.

They used cheddar cheese to substitute paneer in saag dish. It looked smelt and tasted awful. This seems to be a recurrent issue - noticed similar complaint in previous reviews! Had to throw rest takeaway, if cutting corners here made me wonder where else they are doing so!

Was terrible, only appearance!!! The quality is very low. Rude staff. I do not recommend it at all.

Superb food only it's a very loud place

The word "consistent" is the one that pretty much sums-up our visits to The Corriander. Over the past seven years we've never experienced a bad meal (or service) here. I find it odd when I see bad reviews. Decent service (and in my experience) piping hot fresh dishes promptly arrive to the table - all at a very reasonable price. It's pretty faultless.

Love the food here. It is consistently good, quick and plenty of choice.

On Tuesday evening, I rang to order meals for two persons to be delivered. It turned out a real struggle to get my order taken because the person put on answering calls speak almost no English. It took me to repeat 5 times to get my number correctly taken. I gave my full name, address for the delivery and when I asked how much is total, it took the person a little while to work out as he had to keep me waiting while he was asking other staff how much this and that. It came to £21.95. After waiting over an hour, I rang the takeaway and asked for the order, the person took my call said the driver had just left and my order is on its way. Few min later, someone else called me back, and started suggesting that because I did not confirm my order, the order was not taken. Instead of trying to resolve the issue for a wating customer, the person was extremely rude, and repeatedly talking over me, and at what point he started shouting at me to a degree that his voice was audible from the across the room heard by my friend. Awful service, awful first experience. Never use again and I would not recommend these arrogant and extremely rude people. Ruined my evening and lost my appetite because of them. Appalling customer service and dreadful experience.

UPDATE: used to be 5 stars, but recently we ordered "palak paneer" which contained... cheddar instead of paneer. After we'd complained, the waiter then brought out a dish with actual paneer in it. So... they had it all along but chose to replace it with cheddar thinking we wouldn't notice? Weird. The rest of the meal was tasty as usual though. Very tasty and authentic food, reasonably priced. Good and friendly service. The place has a simple but functional aesthetic. All in all, a great local curry house.

Visited the Coriander Buckhurst Hill many times. Always a good meal. On this occasion I went with 4 friends. Food was still good but staff were pretty rude and got the hump when we ordered more food. Also, although restaurant had been refurbished, there was cobwebs hanging from the light above our table. Think next time I’ll go to the Temple in Woodford or Spice in Barkingside.

After a bad experience, at first there was the online response looking to do damage limitation by inviting us back. The after logging on to Trip Advisor for the first time in a while I saw this message below which appears to be from Coriander as you cane see below in the private message, "could I suggest that you don't visit or order from here again...instead, go back to Sheesh..." In my review I already made it clear that after rude service that I was never going back to you so, your point is what exactly as I had already made this decision? In badly run organisations, a bad attitude usually comes from the top. You want to go "go back to Sheesh", I have never been there, not on my list of places to go. Go away and hide behind your keyboard because you would never have spoken to me like that if I were in front of you! In order to post this, the date of my visit was the last time I drove in to the Buckhurst Hill Station car park, not to visit Coriander Here below is the private message sent to me on the Trip Advisor message facilty If you're "two polite professionals with a high disposable income"...could I suggest that you don't visit or order from here again...instead, go back to Sheesh for overpriced spicy dishes which have the equivalent of sullen and uncooperative staff but with infinity mòre instagrammable opportunities!

Staff are utterly rude & unwelcoming with Asian guests. I have been to Coriander a few times over the years & the culture of this restaurant remains unwelcomming to guests of Asian origin. Food is comparable to other such restaurants in the area but the lukewarm service from staff dampens the experience.

Brought a takeaway thought I would try them out, all I can say is amazing food lovely flavours will highly recommend, and will be back for more 😋

3 of us went last night and boy, I wish we hadn't bothered! We waited over an hour for a pretty average main course. One of the dishes was forgotten and brought to the table AFTER we had finished the one course that we had ordered. All dishes were brought out at staggered intervals not together. The waiters were busy but couldn't have cared less. Getting their attention, it's easier to tame a wild animal, good luck that's all I can say. Only waiter was wearing a mask, under his nose, the rest had nothing. No temperature checks, no hand sanitizing, no track and trace, no precautions against COVID visible at all. Soooo noisy because the tables are so close together it's a joke. If you want a long wait for pretty average food and put yourself at possible risk then crack on!

We have eaten in the Coriander for years and we’re so happy with the eased restrictions to be able to return. The Coriander is without a doubt the best local Indian in the area, the hardest part is choosing what to have. We visited recently on a Tuesday after work and yet again had a great meal. Their onion bhajis are always crisp and full of flavour. My husband just almost always has their chicken jalfrezi; no other local restaurant comes close. I had a beautiful prawn dish and we shared rice and a garlic naan. I could recommend many other dishes from their menu, we genuinely never have anything other than a great meal here. Staff are great and remember who we are. What more could you want from your local Indian restaurant???

We've been visiting this restaurant for the best part of eight years and quite frankly, I'm astonished at some of the reviews left concerning the staff employed at The Corriander. If you'd like the staff here to 'pander to you'...or perhaps engage and indulge you in polite and meaningless 'smalltalk' - to make you feel better about yourself - then you've probably come to the wrong place. Does this make the staff employed curt? unpleasant? unwilling to please? No. It absolutely does not. The one thing that I can vouch for here is that over eight years - it's been hugely consistent. They serve (fresh) decent "curry-house" food which is served efficiently, packed full of flavour by staff who really do care. If that's not enough for you...then go somewhere else. As you can probably tell, reviews written by the woke genetation, absolutely infuriate me.

Food was great, big portions but takes a while to come out

Waited a little longer than usual a few weeks ago. I ordered today and the manager remembered (I didn't mention it), he was very kind. Great customer service skills and the food was on point. Thank you Coriander 👍

They were very good. But now are serving off food and bad cuts of vegetables, meat & fish. The food tastes off! And they think they can mask the taste smell with their spices. A once great restaurant gone downhill. The owner used to be friendly and very nice but is now a ****

Poor service from the most miserable looking staff I have ever had the misfortune of being served by. Dont you guys ever smile? The food was below average with far too much sugar in all the dishes. Certainly not authentic Indian cuisine for sure. Overall a very disappointing experience

I have been a few times in the past month as it isn’t easy to get to a good Indian restaurant from where I live. I have ordered something different each time as I didn’t enjoy the previous dish. How is this for brilliant; last night I mentioned that the jalfrezi the week earlier was sweet and that I had to leave all of the meat .....the response, well you ordered the wrong dish didn’t you. You obviously didn’t order a jalfrezi. What a bunch of jokers. A few years ago this place used to be good, no surprise the rating is on the slide. If you are reading this and looking for a good Indian meal in the area, use Ghandi or temple, not these legends

'This is a good old Curry House. Next to the tube station. Staff are very accommodating food is generous portions and well cooked. What can you say except all you could want from a local Indian restaurant. Reasonably priced, and I like that service charge is not automatically added to the bill (well done Coriander!)

We have been regular takeaway users of Coriander for the last 5 years, however recently we have found the quality of the food is poor at the weekend and so have been opting for midweek meals instead. This evening after missing an item from my order, having placed me on hold twice whilst they took it, they then blamed me for their mistake with a very unfriendly tone. When the item was subsequently delivered (after I had finished the rest of my meal) I was rather rudely told by the delivery driver I must pay for it “take it or leave it”. Whilst the request for additional payment was not entirely unreasonable it was clearly not the best customer service following their error and particular cheeky after he had received a tip on the original delivery; with so many curry houses in the area we definitely wont be ordering from them again!

Great food and great atmosphere

Ordered a take away for me and my family last night. Started calling the Coriander from 6:15pm as the line is always busy but that’s expected for prime time Saturday night. When they answered the line was very faint, I heard more of the atmosphere in the background than the chap I was trying to speak to. Would be good if they based someone behind the scenes to take orders and not the main restaurant area or bar? This is probably why my order was delivered incorrect even after I asked the chap to read it back. Anyway, I was told 45 minutes which is absolutely fine as it was a really busy time for them. But what really grinds my gears is the fact my food was still nowhere to been seen 1 hour and 20 minutes later. I called and they apologised profusely. If it’s going to take that long then please tell your customers before they order as this would have saved allot of stress. The food was good but a mixture of the terrible phone system / assistant, having to make multiple calls, the food arriving late and then the order being wrong means we unfortunately won’t be eating at the coriander again.

Absolutely the best Indian curry house in the area. The food is second to none, and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The chicken tikka masala and chicken jalfrezi (jal chicken) are must haves. Cant wait for the next time

"HORRIBLE"It is a terrible waste for your time and money in this restaurant. Ambience and serving people r good but horrible taste for Indian food. They say it's a complimentary and give u papdam but they charge you for that. Not even a single dish served to us taste good.

A great Naga Curry very hot tasty with a good thick sauce. Naan ok and Lamb Tikka starter not bad

We decided to to to the coriander at the last minute. We have been there before,but not for a while.we had not booked,but got a table straight away.the staff where friendly and interacted with you..it soon became busy.service was efficient..the food throughout the evening was good..drinks on the house topped of a nice evening...will not leave it so long next time......

I love this place, because in addition to its nice Indian food, its perfect location (right outside Buckhurst Hill station) it's usually opened when everyone else is closed and that includes bank holidays ( except Christmas and Boxing day). Spacious and attentive staff, it delivers too.

I have visited this restaurant last week with my family and sat in the round table we enjoyed our meal it was delicious sula salmon and some special dishes that you won’t find any where staff are friendly I will come again and recommend to my friends thanks

We have been coming to this restaurant for years and would like to recommend anyone that loves Indian food to try this place out if you have not already. We have never had a bad meal in the years of coming here. Just like to say thank you to all the staff there for taking care of us throughout the years.

The restaurant looks small from outside but once inside was pleasantly surprised by the size and ambieance. Waiters were pleasant and professional,service was very good and food was lovely specially the bangladeshi specialties.

This latest dining in experience was bad. BThe food was good but the sullen service was almost silently hostile. Before the service was passable, not memorable as being good but not enough to cause offence.We were both polite to the waiter and guessed he might be having a bad day but then our top up drinks were served by another waiter who also had a bad attitude.Not good enough! I have spent a lot of money over the years with this place, in my case mostly on takeaway but never again. If your staff are not happy with us there as they clearly did not (two polite professionals with high disposable incomes) then we are not coming back. There are other good Indian restaurants with good service in Grange Hill, Theydon Bois and Loughton we can go to.I am that annoyed, I will not even get takeaway here again.Certainly two of your waiting staff need to go, if they are not happy in their work or don't like certain customers, then more people like us will stop spending money with you!
