Super friendly staff, delicious carvery and drinks bought to table. Admittedly we visited when it was quiet but having visited 2 days earlier during rush hour staff were equally as attentive. Huge portions of a lovely Roast and as much meat selection as required. Haven’t visited in years but good value for money , nice food and great service

Not great, been here for dinner many times with out a problem, when I questioned why I was only given 1 slice of meat that was cut in half and then some removed I was told .Each serving is of 1 slice of meat.We paid extra for pigs in blanket which were burnt, we had to remove the bacon before we could it .I know money is tight for businesses but this will loose you customers.Staff are friendly and not blaming them.We arrived at 6.45 and the place was half empty,I now understand why.Think I will pay extra and go to the Toby next time.

Called to say there was no pizza available. Had Carvery which was ok, but service was terrible and place was dirty. So much better at Toby for instance. Very disappointed

Come here for dinner with my family and what a disappointment. The staff spent most of their time on their phones rather then paying attention to paying guests. The food was a disgrace meat dry and potatoes burnt and when we asked to speak to the manager I have never met someone so abrupt and rude. No people skills and an absolute disgrace of a human being rather than deal with the problem she just didn't care. We used to come here regularly and the old staff were always welcoming and were great especially with my nephews. You can now understand why they are all going on to pastures new and getting out of this dump because like previous staff used to say to us the management is a disgrace and treat their staff like dirt. Once a great place to visit now an absolute shambles. Get rid of the management and maybe you will be able to keep your staff and your reputation.

Never been to a better carvery. the food was amazing was so fresh just like a home cooked roast. service was great 2 of our meals were given to the wrong table which the guests touched so of course we refused these meals. the staff got replacement meals ordered fast and offered free drinks kr dessert. our group took the desserts for the whole group of 9. this was proper customer service. so we'll done. we will 100% return when in the area.

Awful food , lukewarm at best , roast potatoes tasted watery , at 2pm on Wednesday afternoon there was only a tiny piece of gammon left , no other meat at all ( it’s a carvery) also food tasteless and bland , no one told us there was no meat , you pay up front , had we been told we wouldn’t have stayed , don’t like to complain but sometimes it needs to be done , manageress did give a refund eventually but so disappointed

Wow the food was quality. Ann Marie was so helpful and polite. However chief Chris is the most aware chief I've come across regarding food allergies. Chief Chris learnt of all my son's food allergies and would not let him eat from the carvery as he was concerned of crocs contamination Chief Chris we out back and came back with the next batch and served my son up with untouched food. Without doubt as Tina sang Simply the best.

The carvery was excellent value for money. The turkey and gammon were wonderfully tender and tasty. The only thing that lets the place down is the appearance of the building on arrival. On the outside it looks incredibly rough! Nice inside though with friendly staff.

We attended this restaurant today as a family.. When we arrived, all was as it should be.. We sat at a table. Nothing said about what to do and where to go or how to order.. Anyway, we used our initiative and went to the bar, ordered the buffet breakfast and drinks, and shocked to be charged for a coffee as I thought it was included. So I ordered another drink.. We were not told about any items out of stock or unavailable. I asked if I could order a poached egg? And I was told they only do fried eggs. ( I've never been to a restaurant for breakfast that doesn't do poached eggs or any variations of eggs. I paid for the food and we went to the buffet area. Wow, the disappointment was soon realised. I helped myself to some items I asked for some black pudding, and I was advised used that we were out of stock. I then said I would order some mushrooms, but I was advised that they have none of these in stock I went over to the fried eggs, and they were slimy and very uninviting, so I gave them a miss.. I went to get a cup of tea, but as I'm allergic to caffeine, I asked a member of staff for decaf items. He came out with caffinated items, When I asked again for decaf, I was advised they don't have any. I then saw the manager (I think she was). I asked her for the same items, and she advised that they don't stick decaf items. I said I am shocked they don't stock decaff items. Then the most unprofessional response came out, "well its not my fault we don't stock what you want, is it?" Wow. So I paid £40 for sausage, bacon beans, and hash browns. And drinks. I am very disappointed by the food quality and shocking level of service.

Having visited for carvery on many occasions we decided to celebrate my son's 21st birthday at The Copperfields on 18th Jan. We were a table of 7. Ordered food and drinks. Was asked if we wanted starters and mains to come out together (said yes as only 4 of us had ordered starters). Three meals came out first (all burgers and chips). Requested ketchup for the kids. TWENTY FIVE minutes later the ketchup arrived! All other starters and main meals (except 2 main meals) were brought out over the course of this 25 minute period (not together as asked). After another 5 mins of waiting for the last 2 main meals to be served we went up and spoke with the lady (grey top) didn't catch her name. She went to see where our meals were. Came back to the table to tell us that our meals were 'down there' waiting for us. Down where? Then she said sorry should have told you when you ordered that you needed to collect your meal from the carvery section (we had ordered camembert and root veg bake). NO ONE told us it was waiting for us. The young waiter who'd served all the other meals didn't mention it either. So off we go to get our meal. All that time it was just sitting on the carvery. NOT under the heat lamp so consequently it was not v warm by this point. The lady did not seem that bothered nor was she particularly apologetic. As the meals were so staggered we didn't actually end up eating all together at all as by the time we went back with our meal the rest of the table had finished eating. Desserts were then brought out before the table had even been cleared of the dirty plates. The sticky toffee puddings were barely warm and so was the custard. Tasteless pudding so much so that my son left his and he NEVER leaves a pudding! At no point did anyone come over to the table to check 'everything OK?' (That's the point when you've usually got your mouth full of food!) And no apology at the end of the night. We had taken a birthday cake with us for my son but no offer to bring it out or make any part of the evening special - I mean you only get one 21st birthday right? I put in an official complaint on the website and all I've been sent is an automated response with a £25 voucher, not even a personal response with an apology! We spent over £150 that night. We can't recreate that night and a £25 voucher wouldn't even pay for 2 meals let alone 7! All in all an extremely disappointing evening out which upset me as my son's 21st birthday meal will now be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

2nd vist recently. Food was great each time as were the staff. Special mention for Ann Marie the awesome Manager. She goes over and above to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. With extra attention to the children. What a Super Star!

Met up with an old friend here for lunch - we had a roast dinner carvery - and while it's not fine dining it's certainly good value for lunch with friends or family

Hot, fresh food, plenty of it, together with great staff and a clean restaurant - all for a £10.... what more can you ask for? Was served by Emily, who was polite, showed me to my table, and explained how to order etc. When I then had a problem with the toaster, she came immediately and sorted it out - first class service. The food area was clean, tidy, stocked and well organised, though I must admit, I do prefer the Lurpak to the tasteless sunflower spread. Good stuff Copperfield - keep up the good work, and please pass on my thanks to Emily.

Don’t bother for too good to go bags. The food should be gone. 1/4 of a waffle (they share the whole thing between 4 boxes), 1 piece of stringy bacon, small spoonful of chopped tomatoes, 1/2 a fried slice, disintegrated hash brown, 2 thin slices of black pudding and a fried egg. They charge for these. Should go in the bin. Wouldn’t recommend and won’t even bother now for the all you can eat for just £3 extra. Where you can pile a dinner plate instead of a tea cup saucer

Called in Friday, the menu has recently changed, the sandwiches and burgers are very tasty. Good service too.

Dreadful experience when visiting Copperfields this week. Service was provided by sullen off hand staff who obviously did not want to be there. My friend asked for change of table and was told they were all booked. Soon saw they were obviously not and she just couldn't be bothered. When we went to pay the same girl came up with a finance card, gave it to me and said I had left it on the table. She insisted it was mine - it wasn't. Good job I wasn't dishonest and used it to pay for my food. There were no condiments on the table and the only salt pot we could see would not shake and had to be removed from the bottom of the container in a large solid lump. The bell to call the absent chef to serve the meat was broken and had been removed and my friend had to go and find someone. And worse the carrots sprouts and roast potatoes were only luke warm and the whole two dinners had to be replaced. No vegetarian option was available and the gravy was loaded with onions - Hope you like them or no gravy. What a shambles - a badly run disorganised place. Before it became part of a chain, it was pleasant to visit Wish I could have given it no stars although the chef alone was pleasant and helpful although somewhat stressed by the situation there I certainly will not be visiting again.

Booked for 23 people over a week in advance and service was terrible even though the food tasted good, once it arrived. Upon arrival, the staff did not inform us that we would need to order food and drinks at the bar or via a QR code. Even though most ordered at the same time, over 6 people waited over an hour for their food. Beer battered mushrooms were sliced which made them very wet and dripped water when bitten into, I have never had slice battered mushrooms, normally they are whole so they hold their water. This was a family meal to celebrate my son's 21st and I feel massively disappointed in the service, and having children under 7 and 3 crying due to being hungry as others were served 45 minutes prior ruined what should of been a celebration.

Only 3 staff on waited 10 mins to be seated then told no meats left only sausage unless wanted to wait half hour table next to us said food was undercooked potatoes horrible they left meals we also left food looked dried up nasty

Was being lazy - stopped for a carvery dinner - wasn't disappointed. A welcoming, friendly environment and service on arrival from Emily. Restaurant was very busy - was made aware from the outset clearly that they didn't have any beef - not that that ended up being a concern, because the gammon was absolutely lush - nicely cooked, carved and presented on the plate. Nice, fresh yorkshires and a sausage to accompany, and then onto my favourites - the veg. The cauliflower cheese was fantastic - the beans good - and the roasties are always brilliant. Gravy could have been a little thicker - but wasn't the end of the world. All in all - a superb meal - fantastic value - great food - nice atmosphere - welcoming and friendly. What more can you ask for - looking forward to breakfast this Saturday - can't wait!!!!

Lovely time out with friends, great food. Kids food took a little time to arrive, but after that all was perfect. Had a fantastic time with our friends as this was their first time here. Megan and Hollie were lovely and made our visit more worthwhile.

Popped in for a quick breakfast. Wow !!!! The food was plentiful, lovely and fresh on an eat all you can !! Was served by Nadia and Emily who were lovely and made me feel very welcome - thank you both. It was quite busy, but the service at the Bar was super efficient from Emily and the seating area and toilets were spotless. Top work Copperfield !!! Nice to find somewhere so good for a change. Booked a table on line as my daughter was visiting from London. She wanted a roast so we choose here. Arrived on time got seated, next to a family table of 8! So it was a bit of a squeeze. We ordered our drinks from the table to save time as there was a fairly big queue at the bar. We eventually got our drinks after the girl had gone to 2 different tables asking if the drinks were theirs! When she came to our table the receipt clearly said our number on it! But hey they were busy! We went up to get our carvery, only to be told only 1 meat ( this was 3 pm) and we would have to wait over an hour and a half until the other meats were cooked! I had the Turkey, as that’s all what was left! I noticed no Yorkshire puddings either! and just standard veg, mash,roasties, peas, cauliflower cheese, swede, runner beans, carrots. Oh and dry uncooked stuffing! My daughter was so looking forward to a roast that I have not had to cook as a treat for us, and we were so disappointed we will not be returning here for the foreseeable future.We were not the only ones who were unhappy about the carvery!
