This is such a lovely friendly cafe, we all fancied a hot drink and snacks after walking up the Skirrid, and hadn't realised a cafe was so close. We were made really welcome and the ladies working here were so friendly. We all regretted having eaten our picnic at the top of the hill and decided next time we come we'll make an early start, no picnic and come here. The food being brought out looked and smelled delicious 😋 Highly recommend

Just done a 2.5 hour drive to Abergavenny with a 4 minute detour for a late breakfast. Definitely worth the wait as probably the best breakfast ever. Local produce cooked to order, lovely clean indoor and outdoor seating area. And the ladies are welcoming, happy and funny. A great stop off before I help the daughter and hubby do some work on their house.

On a bank holiday Monday in Wales before we headed home we wanted to find breakfast, a little Google search and I found ‘the copper kettle’ and I am so glad I did. I read a few reviews most glowing, a few saying the staff are rude….ignoring the few and going with the many we decided it sounded lovely. I can only assume the few that have left a 1 star review weren’t at the copper pot at all and here’s why….. We arrived at 0902 (2 minutes after opening) and were warmly greeted by the staff, who directed us to menus and invited us to sit anywhere….they were smiling when talking to us. I went up to the counter to give my order where the lady was ready to take my order and was engaging in general conversation with me whilst I do so, once the food was ready it was brought over to us again more general chatting about our trip from Kent to Wales, very friendly and made sure to ask if we needed anything else etc. The food was delicious, and the prices are excellent. I had a bacon baguette & my partner the big Welsh breakfast he was in awe of the toast so ordered 2 more slices. I found the cappuccino to be something special. We ordered more food (Welsh cakes to take away) The staff are all so friendly & so happy they have brilliant hospitality we already cannot wait to return, the staff made us feel right at home and they are fantastic chefs.

We have been 3 times so far and this will become our Sunday trip. Its about 30 min drive but worth it. Very nice cakes, great selection. Good coffee. Excellent breakfast with quality ingredients that are FRESHLY COOKED, not pre done and kept warm for fast turn round. We also tried lunch on my Birthday and really enjoyed our food. Lots of vegetarian choice. A beautiful place to sit, relax, take a breath. And all the team are so friendly.

We popped in for a coffee and cake but found the owners obsessed about the toilet and worrying about whether non customers were going to use it (sometimes even customers like to use the toilet before ordering drinks!) Agree with a previous reviewers comment that they can come across as rude and aggressive.

The staff were very friendly and we had a laugh and a joke with them. They were very apologetic because are food took a little longer due to being so busy but it was honestly worth the wait. We live locally and heard about this coffee shop last year. It is situated close to the Skirrid car park on the Abergavenny - Ross road. We approached it from the Ross end, as there was no obvious high road sign we passed it. There is a sign on the fencing, but it is not obvious until you are right on it. The clue is to look for a building with a clock tower as you approach it. This is a very nice little cafe, with the decor painted in white and light blue, giving the impression of the sea, although there is no immediate connection with the sea, so this is probably just the way I thought of it. The space is very clean and pleasant staff. The owners were there and were quite chatty. Be aware they are closed on Wednesday's. We had a tea; coffee and my wife had an orange cake and loved it. They have an excellent menu choice and I will be going back there soon to have one of their all day breakfasts.
