Handy position in the centre of the village. The large cappuccino was not as large as expected but the chocolate sprinkled on top was extra special. Too early for us to eat but cakes looked good although I thought a little expensive.

We have never visisted here before but had driven past many times so thgought we come here for breaksfast before we walked around the Cosby Yarn Bomb. We had our dog with us too, from the outset the service was excellent, Terry and his staff greeted us with frinedly smile, nothing was too much trouble for them and they went the extra mile (we witnessed them moving some tables around to accommodate a family with a pushchair). Just little things like getting a dog water bowl out for our dog before we had even asked. We ordered 2 of "The Not So Full Cosby" breakfasts and from the dog menu (yes they have a great dog menu too) we ordered dog sausages for our dog Hugo. Well they all came in no time and the breaksfasts were delicious and the homemade hash browns were to die for. As for Hugo's sausages well he woofed the lot down in no time. We also had the chai latte which was amazing too ( you must try it) and took home with us some of the homemade summer mixed berry cake, which again was delicous and didn't last too long. Would definitely recommend The Cook In The Nook, great service, great food, very clean and fantastic staff. Well done Terry and team, we will be back soon!!!

I personally would never step foot in this cafe again! Staff are so rude! Was not even greeted with a hello! Just “ what do you want to order”. Everything was a BIG ask and there was no customer service. Food was ok ….. but for feeling so unwelcome I would never go back!. Seems like the manger or owner is very angry at the feedback of how rude the staff are as I have read a few comments on how rude he is and instead of apologising and taking feedback on board he seems to keep justifying his rude comments! If you don’t like the hostility industry don’t be in it! No amount of pressure should leave to rudeness! So overall AVOID! And then hopefully the owner will start taking feedback on and change his attitude. Cosby is only a little village, people should feel like they are walking into there second home…. I felt like I was a problem being there…

Visited Cosby yesterday to have a look around as Our Daughter is looking at moving there. Placed our order for a Latte and a Large Chai Latte, one Cheese scone with butter and a Chocolate Brownie. Nice young latter arrived at our table with The drinks and Cheese scone with Butter,I went back to the counter and said I had ordered a brownie only to have my head bitten off the by counter assistant "No You Didn't,theres your order, no brownie!" I paid for a Brownie and went back to our table, my wife said there wasn't enough butter so I went back and asked for more Butter and was thrust another dish with another tiny piece of butter ,whilst passing the table next to us the women sitting there said that she had heard me asking for a brownie. 45p for a piece of butter smaller than you get in the small foil packs is really a big ask! just before we left another couple arrived and sat down at a 4 seat table and the Counter assistant came over and told them to move to a 2 seat table, the place was far from full. Having read some poor reviews on here there seem to be some very aggressive replies from the management which really does sum the place up !

We arrived at peak lunchtime and were dismayed to find no tables free. However, bar stools at the counter in front of the window were available so we sat there and even my 80 year old sister found it comfortable once she'd climbed on! It was lovely looking out over the brook on a sunny day. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch - reuben sandwich with fries from the specials board and sweetcorn fritters with poached eggs and bacon. Both had real taste. Great coffee too.

Popular coffee shop in the centre of the village. We popped in for a light lunch when out for a walk. Food is done to order so expect to wait at busy times. We had soup and sourdough toast which was good-piping hot and a generous helping. The only downside is that the toilet is upstairs and anyone with mobility issues would find it very difficult to access.

We came with about 15 minutes until closing to get a coffee and cakes. When we stood at the door we were told we could only have take away, we said “that’s fine.” When we approached the counter we were told by the main woman, “she’s turned the coffee machine off now”, the young woman on the machine started to object but the main woman who had been ‘not’ serving clearly didn’t want to serve us and didn’t say anything at all. We said we’d leave it because we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience. With 15 minutes to go I would have thought we could get some food and drinks to go. As soon as we left the main woman came and put the signs away. Clearly being closed spot on 12:30 was the priority, not serving new customers. Hopefully this was just a miscommunication and I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt but based on solely this experience I’d be reluctant to return and worried about a lack of customer service.

We found this gem of place as we’d wanted a special brekkie before dropping our girl at Uni. Having seen the amazing reviews, we gave it go - we weren’t disappointed. What can I say other than superb! Great coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, attentive staff, lovely ambiance - but most of all we loved the quality of the produce all sourced locally, even down to the condiments. All the little attention to detail that makes the whole experience top notch! We even stocked her up on delicious, home made cakes before we left. It’s even dog friendly with a doggie menu!! Really couldn’t recommend this wonderful little place highly enough!

We stopped off the M1 on the way to Yorkshire for lunch as this place came highly recommended. Despite being incredibly busy, with a half hour waiting time for a table, eating here was well worth the wait. Staff were friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and excellent value for money. The lunch menu was simple with various combinations allowing for vegetarians. We were unable to resist the chefs suggestion of snickers brownies with vegan ice cream as a desert. We will definitely be returning and ask anyone travelling up north to take a short detour off the M1 to the very pretty village of Cosby to sample the delights of the Cook in the Nook.

Food & drink were good. But we sat in the upstairs part of the building up some very steep stairs and 2 of us hit our heads on a very solid beam when going up. The staff pointed out that there was a warning sign, which there was, but it's only visible when coming downstairs... Edited to add: The owner replied to my Google review, falsely accusing me of shouting at and bullying her staff. Yes, I did complain, and having hit my head very painfully on the beam (still had a headache hours afterwards) I was naturally cross. But I did not shout or bully, and friends with me can back me up; I did not see the owner there. No apology was offered. I have lodged a complaint with Leicestershire Trading Standards.

This cafe has a lot of potential as the meals and cakes are to a high quality. Unfortunately though it is very noisy and the manager does not seem keen to let people use the quieter upstairs or to turn down the radio. Hot drinks are now expensive compared to other cafes. Would come for breakfast occasionally but no longer keen on using this as a regular coffee stop.
