Lovely setting although a bit dated, but very clean and tidy. Had a couple of toasted sandwiches which were very nice and a couple of hot drinks. A bit on the higher price side of things but the service and hosting were very good.

Visited and had a pot of tea for 2 and 2 scones with jam. Charged £3.95 per pot of tea and £2.95 per scone with a £1 extra charge for the jam which turned out to be a couple of teaspoons of jam each in a pot. So total bill for this was £15.80 but then to get charged a 10% service charge taking the total to £17.38 was disgraceful. I decide if I want to tip and I would not have here as the scones were bland and the prices so expensive for what was actually served. Could be a nice place but will not return as there are other far better places in Grantham and don't like being ripped off.

The Conduit Tea Rooms (note - no longer a bistro/wine bar as far as I see) is a lovely venue for afternoon lunch or tea. We had a lovely lunch (toasted sandwiches) and have to say the service was excellent - somewhat 'old school' but perfectly in keeping with the setting and although a little pricey, we'd visit again

We visited and sat outside. The place is clean and the staff are pleasant with prompt service. The menu is a little limited on choice for smaller dishes but there is enough. Food came out quickly and was nice, however it didn’t command the price paid and was very much average, although nothing wrong with it. The thing that took us by surprise was the when will got the bill and they had added a £3 service charge, I don’t mind giving a tip but I like it to be my choice. We won’t return again because it was too expensive for what we got (£30 for 3 sandwiches and drinks) and I object to being forced into giving a tip by stealth.

You can sit inside or out in the nicely kept garden, with a public car park nearby. Family run and friendly. For lunch we had the korma & sausage and mash and then frangipan tarts, all excellent with good service.

Nice enough shared single Sausage Roll and shared single Cream Tea with extra pots of Tea. However, my Wife charged £25.68 with no itemised bill, and, when challenged, no explanation of how figure reached. Owner then appeared with a £2.75 cash refund with unintelligible explanation. Really disappointed as pleasant until this farce.

Popped in here for lunch but felt dubious as we entered since there was a cloying smell of old frying oil. The net curtains on the roof were dirty and grey which was off-putting. Also the cakes on the counter were uncovered so didn't look very hygienic. The server was friendly enough but it was a bit grim. Not a friendly atmosphere about the place.

Had coffee and cake, both were ok but odd atmosphere, won’t be going back. Plate dirty so asked for another which got eventually but they didn’t think it was an issue!

The Conduit Bistro is a lovely little place! Embarrassingly I have visited Grantham many times to visit family and walked past on several occassions with the intent of popping in one day but never quite getting round to it. Life is always so busy these days...but hey what a lovely surprise this place is :-). Nestled in a cosy secret garden setting, within the walls of the old Conduit of an anciant monestry, sipping tea and eating delicous scones in a quaint conservatory overlooking the bustle of the town, is a very lovely way to wind down and enjoy a Saturday afternoon with Mum :-).The staff are lovely and the cake selection looked amazing. Definately will be back next time I am here:-).

Visited with a friend yesterday for the first time and ordered the tomato and basil soup, my friend ordered a tuna sandwich. I am unable to eat dairy products and stupidly didn't check when ordering as this soup doesn't usually contain cream. To my dismay, when the soup arrived it obviously contained quite a lot of cream, so I was unable to eat it. An older gentleman (possibly the proprietor) came to take our plates, saw the uneaten soup and asked politely why I hadn't liked it. I explained, said it was my fault for not checking, but that the soup looked very nice. (I noticed a sign afterwards asking customers to let staff know about dietary requirements). He then disappeared into the kitchen, reappearing several minutes later and presented me with a fresh bowl of soup without any cream at no extra charge! The soup was one of the best I had tasted and my friend also enjoyed her sandwich which was delicious and served with some crisps and salad. We also had a coffee each which was served with a small wrapped biscuit. Our crockery and cutlery were spotless and the conservatory setting is very relaxing. We will both be visiting this cafe again.

To be fair the cafe/restaurant is in a lovely setting, nestled into a beautiful garden. We walked in and sat at an empty table only to realise you have to place your order at the counter with the food choices listed on the wall not individual menus. We ordered a BLT, Chicken tikka jacket potato and a plain cheese sandwich. We also had 3 soft drinks. My sister who ordered the jacket won in the meal stakes. The sandwiches were mediocre at best served with three stale pringles. I then went back to the counter to be charged £26.35! I'm sorry but for that sort of price I'd expect individual menus and table service but above all an outstanding meal.

The Conduit had a genteel feel about it, with a delightful cottage garden extending from the terrace. Unobtrusive music played during our light lunch, and the person who took our order and served us was charming. There were a few solo diners on our visit, and they evidently felt comfortable dining alone. A collection of magazines were available to browse which was a thoughtful touch. We had a light lunch, with a chicken Tikka jacket potato (the skin was just right to eat); cheese and ham toastie; and BLT on brown bread. And as the cakes and puddings were irresistible we also had chocolate caramel slice and strawberry meringue dessert. The pot of tea for two came with a generous pot of hot water, and while four cups were drunk, there was still more tea in the pot! It would be easy to overlook The Conduit as it's slightly elevated above the road, but this adds to the charm when you're in the conservatory, as you can look out over the bustle of people making their way into town.

Have lived near Grantham for many years but never tried here, but will definitely return after our first visit.Called in for lunch just on a whim, as we were running late, and very glad we did. Food was excellent, as were our lattes, beautifully presented and prompt. This is a little oasis.

My second lunchtime visit to the Conduit has been another success story. Our food was delicious and the staff accommodated me since I am Gluten intolerant. Today I had a luscious Chicken Korma and my friend Brenda had a wonderful braised pork with fennel and mashed potatoes. desert was marvellous---stewed apricots and cheesecake. I will definitely be back soon!! BTW you can have anything from a jacket potato, sandwich, salad, etc. And the deserts are excellent. The food varies so you are not stuck in a rut. I like the idea if choice as an enticement to return. The service is good and I enjoy the background music which is classical.

What a loverly place, the Bistro is set in a loverly little garden that flows on into the Tea Room, which was very clean and very nicley set out,, 3 of the four of us had a Lincolnshire Farmers Lunch, which i must say was excellent. Beautifully home roast Ham ,local pork pie. selection of cheeses and warm bread which was to die for, with plenty of crisp salad and pickles, The other had a jacket potato with chicken Tika, again very nice ,all well presented . We could nt resist the display of home made desserts, all fantastic. The owner and staff were all very helpful and friendly the menu was good and very reasonably priced for the quality. We will definatly return to sample some of the other dishes on the menu , i must try the homemade quiches.Shame we could nt stay for the 100 yr war rememberance , hope it went well, the willow sculptures in the garden looked great. See you soon Ps please keep the sculptures as i forgot to take a photo. Thanks again.

Passing through Grantham we wanted an informal restaurant for a quick lunch, preferably with a terrace. The Conduit ticked all the boxes. The restaurant was bright and clean with ample outside seating facing a small well-tended garden. The menu wasn't extensive but reasonably priced with options from a small carvery. We opted for beef with salad and potato rosti. The plated salad was fresh and nicely presented though unimaginative (iceberg lettuce!) not dressed and no dressing offered. The rosti was light and crisp and very tasty. The cold beef was disappointing seeming like bits hacked off from the end of a leftover joint. We might have been better off with the cooked ham which was on display at the carvery. The staff serving us were very friendly and provided a very good service. Puddings looked good but we didn't try these out,

From the moment we stepped into the apres ski lodge we were greeted with an incredible warm welcome, great conversation and recommendations from the team there. The food was to die for, special mention to the chicken liver parfait and roast beef on the Sunday menu, absolutely faultless! Warm, welcoming and sociable atmosphere and really well decorated space for the winter season. Will be back!
