I love this cafe. The coffee is amazing and the staff are so lovely and helpful. The daily baked goods are great and it’s kiddie and dog friendly. Definitely a must stop in St Ives.

Thursday lunchtime was quiet but 3 of us plus dog got seated and were very well looked after. Two vegans and a veggie, plenty of choice. Really loved my halloumi, pesto and sun-dried tomato sandwich. They brought the dog a bowl of water and treats.

Very limited options …. Very little gluten-free…. If you order the “long black” coffee please note that it’s actually a very small coffee …. Only marginally bigger than an espresso.

I visited this cafe for the first time with a cyclist friend and I was bowled over by the friendly service, great cup of tea but above all, the best bacon roll EVER! Seriously, a very generous BLT sarnie with lashings of bacon, salad and sauce. Utterly delicious. Very pleasant relaxed atmosphere. Don't have to be a cyclist (I can't even ride a bike!) to enjoy the friendly welcome. Can't wait to go back and will definitely order the same again.

Absolutely brilliant cafe with exceptional coffee and extremely friendly staff. Was instantly made to feel welcome by the brilliant customer service of both staff. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great coffee shop not only for cyclists. Sexiest barista I’ve even seen aswell, so that’s a bonus!

After a period of closure when I thought it had gone forever, I was so pleased to see it had opened again. Crucially the quality of the coffee has been maintained and they have a new line of cakes and pastries from a local baker. Welcome back

First review I have ever written on trip advisor. Came a few months ago for breakfast, round trip from Harrogate, only to find the cafe closed. No indication on the website. E-mailed the cafe, no response. They could have said "Sorry mate, next coffee on us", but simply nothing. Tried again this morning, looking for a warm coffee on a cold morning cycle. Website indicated open from 8.30. The chap turned up at 8.36 am and confirmed that for at least another 15 min there would be no coffee. When I pointed out that they claim to be open from 8.30 am he just shrugged his shoulders and mumbled something about having only re-opened the day before. Now commuters tend to be in a hurry and need their drink/food on time, and they certainly don't provide that, so maybe they need to think about a different name. Roland Strauss

Following a recommendation from a friend I went there for breakfast and was warmly welcomed by the staff. The cafe is airy, modern and clean an Following a recommendation from a friend I went there for breakfast and was warmly welcomed by the pleasant staff. The cafe is airy, modern and clean and is themed around road biking. The menu is quite limited and I immediately noticed it was on the expensive side - £6.50 for avocado on toast and £3 coffees. I assumed it would be a jazzed up version of avo on toast with a big portion and interesting side salad. What came out was actually quite embarrassing. I received one thin slice of sour dough toast and a very thin layer of avocado, albeit nicely dressed. A small token of salad leaves accomanied it. It really was a shockingly meagre breakfast. The proof was in me leaving feeling hungry and totally unprepared for a day of exploring the area but £10 lighter. I wish I had spoken up at the time and asked for a refund.

This is primarily a cycle cafe, so it would be easy to think the coffee and food would be an afterthought. Definitely NOT true at all! This place serves seriously good coffee on a consistent basis. And it is nice that the staff don't rush it, but take their time to make sure it is made to perfection. Yes, you can go to a high street coffee shop and get an okay coffee in quick time, but this place does it right, and there is nothing 'okay' about it at all. It's spot on. And the food is very good too. Treat yourself to a bacon sandwich with a generous helping of Lishman's bacon; you won't regret it. Oh, and the oat milk latte is freakin' amazing. And the staff make you welcome even if you're not kitted out in lycra, so don't worry about having to roll-up on a 30-speed titanium framed (or whatever they make bikes out of these days). If you do have such a bike then I'm sure you'll be made very welcome, but even if you rolled up on a tandem or a sit up and beg, I'm sure you'd be made just as welcome. Highly recommend.

We popped in and felt somewhat tickled to join all these professional cyclist looking like Jonny and Alsitair Brownlee clicking in with their cleats. Tour de France was on in background. Soup and hot sandwich was good. Proprietor was a busy bee serving us and other and takeaways coffee. Our 1st 'tick-off' - 1st day of 'Cafes are Open' in aid of Brownlee Foundation.

We moved to Ilkley just over a year ago and have been regular visitors to the Commute ever since. I often take my toddler and (bike mad) pre-schooler and we’re always made to feel really welcome. They’re a great independent spot offering fab coffee, fresh sandwiches / soup etc and a great selection cakes and pastries. The bike paraphanalia fascinates my eldest and they have some toys and books available and a changing table which is really appreciated. Would recommend you stop by if you’re in the area (even if you don’t own a bike!).

I'm not a cyclist but met a friend here for coffee as it was handy for us both and she had heard great things about the coffee! We were warmly welcomed and no one hassled us for staying and chatting once our coffee was finished (as once happened at the establishment next door!). We liked the workshop ambience and felt comfortable there, and the staff were taking hygiene seriously and wiping the tables and chairs with proper sanitiser. The coffee was very good and they did oat milk, although it was not clear from the menu that it cost an extra 20p; I felt £3 was a bit pricey for a medium sized cappucino. This and the discrepancy between prices on the menu and the special boards (which we noticed despite not eating there) are the only reasons I knocked a star off, I would be happy to return.

We popped in here for a coffee and cake and were very pleased we chose this cafe. The staff were helpful and the coffee and cake were delicious. I have given it 4 stars not 5 because like another comment vegan spread was not used in any of the cakes which would have been even better if you were a vegan!

Popped in to the cafe today after a long windy cycle from Leeds to Ilkley. The bike racks outside with locks you could borrow were a great idea. I had beans and cheese on toast (massive and delicious) with a very good coffee, even managed a slice of cake. Everything was fab and would highly recommend it.

I always find it curious that cafes like this one offer vegan options but when it comes to the basics like toast they don’t have an alternative spread to butter! Staff were ok but it felt a little like they were just going through the motions of politeness, had to ask for salt & pepper, then sugar, then napkins....one we left realised just next door and further along probably better cafes on offer. Coffee was good but a small cup!! I liked the look of the place and it had great potential just need to up there game a bit !

We are not bikers but were looking for a reasonable lunch. It is on the main road through Ilkley and their menu fitted the bill. Food and coffee were good. The only annoying thing were the prices on the menus did not agree with their specials board. Ending with having to pay an extra £1. I was not in the mood to argue but there should never be discrepancies in pricing.

Visited this cafe today after two visits to Ilkley on Thursdays to find The Commute cafe closed.Quirky Cafe seems quite popular. The young man who served us was a nice polite guy.We had a latte and a cappuccino plus a portion of toast with butter and jam each.Coffee was strong which is good for me but my Mother doesnt like it strong. They only serve one size plus its £2.80 so bit pricey.Toast wasnt hot and bit bland.Total cost £10.60.Wont return! But will return to Toast cafe next door for better coffee.

We visit the Commute on a regular basis and are always greeted with a warm welcome. The choice of food is varied and tasty and the coffee is excellent. All tastes are catered for and both cyclists and families are all welcome . Commute is also dog friendly. There is also a cycle repair shop as well as sales of new cycles and clothing within the Commute. A great place to stop off anytime when visiting Ilkley.

We had a coffee here last week. A friendly place in Ilkley and welcomed our dog; however, the coffee was dreadful! Have not had coffee like this since the bad old days of UK coffee. They had a proper machine so it must have been a bad day at the coffee office.

Long overdue review. Been to Junoon a number of times and each time thought they would get better, however they did not. The shisha was below average, very harsh and did not last longer than 35 minutes. Shame. The staff are friendly and the premises are lovely and there is plenty of seating available. Average costs, would not recommend.
