A great place to visit after a walk along the beachfront, friendly staff and a good family atmosphere.

I can't believe how this place is run now..... disinterested staff Poor service Best described as dysfunctional Toilet cleaning stuff left on tables including a dirty toilet brush.... Soooooo long on food and very few people in the place..... I definitely won't be coming back Used to be my local so disappointed The food was awful dry and over cooked..... And the kids meals swimming in cooking oil

Green king pub. Had a very good pint of Abbot. Staff were excellent and there was some live music on. Well worth popping in.

Really great stay. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I was upgraded to a room with a lovely sea view. The room was clean and for the price paid great. I did not try the breakfast. There are so many great options in Southbourne. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Hadn’t been to the Commodore for years but popped in for a pint after a walk. The staff are lovely and was very impressed with the atmosphere. Dog treat station is a bonus!

Wonderful service as always by LISA, ROSS, CHARLIE, KIT and other staff but PLEASE PUT THE COFFEE BACK TO IT'S OLD STYLE NOT THE PODS!

Love the Commodore for food with friends. Lisa and Charlie are so friendly and kind. Very welcoming and attentive. Food was excellent. Have to say I’m so pleased you now do gluten free chips in a designated fryer.

we had a loovely meal after a brisk walk accross the bournemouth beaches from the town to southbourne. the warm glow and atmosphere through the window drew us back in today, along with a prevous great stay here we had coffee and 2 very enjoyable meals, fish and chips that i had was amazing, fish.. batter..chips.. all cooked how i like them. Service is Excellent with such friendly staff

We spent two lovely nights in the hotel the bed was very comfortable. The hotel staff gave us a warm welcome and personalized services. The view from the room is incredible, the hotel is perfectly located. I recommend

My daughter & I checked in at the Commodore pub to spend a night in a twin bedded room in the hotel. The staff were friendly & helpful even though it was full of people of all ages from couples to groups of families. We had a drink & my daughter ordered a chicken light bite as a late lunch. I didn't eat but tasted her chicken with a Barbeque Sauce served with chips. Price of drinks were surprisingly reasonable The light bites on the menu were acceptable but definitely could have more choices especially to include a healthy seeded oe sourdough option. Parking was not available close to the hotel on a Saturday because if all the diners for Christmas lunch. Hotel rooms were spacious, clean & while simply furnished, had TV, a tray with kettle, cups etc We couldn't get the heater to work but pleased to have a good shower with hot water. We had a good night's sleep & preferred having an airy room. A few higher star-rated hotels in Bournemouth had sealed windows that caused us to be uncomfortably hot & unable to get a decent night's sleep. The location was fantastic with such lovely views & walks. Enjoyed a stroll down to the beach, along Boscombe Overcliffe Drive to catch birwsbof tge the sunset. On the following day we made our way to Southbourne village through a pleasant woodland park called Fisherman's Walk

Lisa and Charlie are great, we’ve been coming for over a year on and off for work and they haven’t lost patience with us yet!

I've been staying here for work for months and what can I say about the breakfasts perfect, and top service from lisa and charlie as always. Comfy, clean rooms and great views.

Once again, excellent service from the commodore staff. These guys never cease to amaze me. The staff are awesome, Ross the general manager, Jordan, Tom, and Robin are all super lovely 😀. The pubs looking very christmassy and welcoming. Always exceptional service and friendly smiles 😁 the best part is they look after my dog. Thanks guys Natalie and Shadow

Visited for lunch, staff were very helpful and friendly, there was a slight wait for food, which staff noted and apologised for. Food was as expected, we left fed and happy 😊

Dirty, overpriced, food is not fresh, dirty cups, glasses, plates. Avoid. Reply to the owner: No this is not a mistake. I visited on 01/11/2024 around 11am. The issues were: on the menu, at the top, it stats that tea is included in the breakfast, I was told that this is for guests only. The menu did not state this. The breakfast is £12, I was expecting a freshly cooked breakfast for that money, but what I got was food that had been cooked ages ago, that had obviously been left on a hot plate. Eggs were over cooked, bacon and toast was undercooked, the beans were missing. How can you charge £12 for a breakfast where most of the items have been cooked 20/30 minutes before and left out to dry up, it is an absolute disgrace. This was a £4 breakfast at best. If I were not there with my other people, I would have left immediately. The cups were dirty. The glasses next to the water were filthy, I dread to think when the water dispenser was cleaned. The sign outside is missing 80% of its letters! The seats, tables and cutlery were all dirty. The whole place is a dump, inside and out. I could go on.

I visited the pub, we had fish and chips, and burgers. Both were good. Decent prices, and kids eat for free half term.

Nice bar staff but food was awful. My sirloin was poor and turned up with no onion rings as they’d run out but chose not to tell me when I ordered it. Wife’s turkey roast was bland and the Yorkshire pudding was like mush. When we complained, the young lad said there has been loads of complaints about the yorkies but no offer of a partial refund or anything. Won’t be returning

Went here for lunch today. The staff are lovely, warm, friendly and accommodating. Was pleasantly surprised to find both vegan and gluten free options on the menu. Affordable prices from a wide range of food. Also lovely to experience seeing that dogs are warmly welcomed. Highly recommend a visit!

Didn't actually stay here in a room overnight so hard to rate however based on the decor inside and out, the most unhelpful staff and the price of the TWO DRINKS we had (especially for a green king chain) were the same price as what they are the serene sobo bar ON the beach which is absurd! Yes this is the on the cliff top but not on the actual beach so why am I paying £20 for TWO drinks! Every other green king chain such as skyglass and kettle and the Cranleigh are perfectly balanced with nice friendly staff, good prices along with good quality drinks and food.... But not this one!!! The staff seemed like they couldn't be bothered. Such an unorganised layout quite cleearly it's a 'locals' pub

Been coming here for well over a year for working down here. The staff have bee absolutely accommodating from looking myself and fellow colleagues. Food is great and it’s right on the sea front. Totally recommend!

The staff are lovely and the location is beautiful. I can’t speak on the rooms as I have not used the hotel, but the pub and restaurant area are comfortable and in good condition. The location has an excellent view of the sea and is close to the beach, but parking and public transport are not adequate in the area, so you must arrive by foot.

I stayed @ the commodore recently & had such a lovely experience there, sarah is an amazing lady & so good @ her job she Really looked after us, our room was perfect, we had a sea view, food so great will definitely be staying again

Very friendly and helpful staff. Food is very good, highly recommend. This is the about 5th time we've stayed here ( 24th June to 27th June '24) and can't beat the beautiful views over the sea. Its well worth staying here

Reasonable prices for drinks with a lovely location on the cliff top of southbourne, seating outside which was nice in the sunshine .

Me and my husband has had a lovely stay here. OK everything wasn't 10/10 but the service was outstanding. Beds was clean. Nothing was to much trouble highly pleased. Will deffo stay again. Bar manager and bar staff are so polite helpful and the consideration shown to me and my hubby was amazing 👏

A spontaneous walk from Southbourne High Street led us to The Commodore. It almost looked closer from the outside and fairly scruffy, but given the time of year, perhaps it had a hard winter and is being tidied up for the upcoming Summer season. The menu looked okay although we didn't eat. There's ample parking and lots of space inside, although again, areas were looking a little tired. A warmer welcome would have been nice but other staff seemed friendly enough

I come here often to eat with my family and we love it. The location and view are amazing and the food is lovely. We have also noticed a big difference in the customer service over the last few months.. staff are very attentive and can't do enough to help. Would recommend to anyone.

An awesome building that holds an awesome crew! Very friendly! There is a pool table with just about the best food and liquor in Bournemouth!

☆☆☆What a treat! We were booked in for lunch with friends (4 adults), and an overnight stay for a mid-spring beach weekend. The service, menu offering, atmosphere and food were SUPERB! Granted, the building is unassuming and perhaps a touch tired but you really couldn't beat the experience. ♡♡♡ Genuinely delightful, welcoming, and happy staff, fantastic service and the food (very traditional British pub fayre) was fantastic. As a non-red-meat-eater there were ample vegetarian and vegan options that tempted the taste buds and allowed flexibility with additions of griddled chicken, halloumi ect.. Our bedroom was clear, spacious, airy, and a vue of the sea that would warrant a price tag of at least three times the room rate sold at anywhere else. 😉 Seriously decent pub with a brilliant welcome and with plenty to offer. Great on a shoe string budget if you need that but just as good for a pre beach pit-stop lunch.

I recently visited the commodore Hotel and bar with some friends for dinner and drinks. I was greeted by Robyn at the bar who was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave us menus and also advised us on the best wine to have as we couldn't decide. She explained about the allergens menu to a friend who is gluten free. Our food came in a timely manner, and it was lovely and hot. We will definitely be back.

The restaurant/bar had a cozy yet chic atmosphere, with dim lighting and comfortable seating. The menu offered a diverse range of dishes, from gourmet burgers to seafood specialties, all expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. Their cocktail selection was impressive, featuring both classic and creative concoctions. The service was top-notch, with attentive waitstaff who were knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent recommendations. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience that I can't wait to repeat.

We had a wake for my late father in the function room at the Commodore yesterday. I arranged everything with Jemma who is super efficient and accommodating. We picked the buffet with a platter (dessert). We had around 40 guests and it worked very well. We ordered drinks ready for arrival & the food a little after. I popped in earlier to decorate the tables & drop off a few photos etc. Jemma and all the staff were really helpful, the food was excellent & I would highly recommend the venue. The room has it’s own toilets which is useful and just worked very well.

Popped in for a bite to eat and a drink, unfortunately the kitchen was closed but the staff suggested ordering a takeaway and allowed us to consume it in the bar, they even provided cutlery. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff, I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area. The staff made us feel really welcome and being dog friendly was the icing on the cake.

A very poor pub very run down unfortunately, I wouldn't actually eat here, the beer lines needed cleaning and the beer was so cloudy and tasted overfull , got our drinks changed to be told that there's nothing wrong with the beer (of course) it's a shame green king are letting places in such beautiful locations go to the ground. The Poole table isn't straight and also worn down and the outside has a lot to live up too. I'm afraid there's not a lot of positive comments to say regarding this establishment.

I booked The Commodore Function room for the celebration of life party for my Mum. When we went in to enquire about the arrangements, the manager was very Kind and very considerate to us at such a difficult time. When it came to the day, the food was wonderful and the staff were absolutely amazing. The attention to detail, service was first class. This is a hospitality team who deliver their services with professional grace and compassion.

Seems to have really improved _ didn’t eat this time but the new menu looks lovely! Nice beer, clean, tidy- nice atmosphere- will def return

Stayed last night as was attending my sister's wedding reception. The room on the second floor (accessed by stairs or lift,) had the most amazing view of the sea. Room a decent size with all facilities that were required. Function room was lovely and the buffet that was laid on was amazing. Staff really lovely and helpful. Can't fault anything anything.
