This hotel was in the perfect location for visiting London, close but quiet. Staff were very friendly there and the room was clean and we had what we e needed. I would stay here again in the cooler months. Unfortunately it was a really hot weekend and the air conditioning wasn’t working and the windows were sealed. We did ask but the staff explained they could get the temperature any lower, needless to say the temperature wasn’t very comfortable to sleep. Luckily we had hand held fans with us and bottles of water!

In search of a place to stay following a concert in Hyde Park, me and my friend settled upon The Colonnade due to its proximity to the event and its seemingly stylish interior - this was our first mistake. The Colonnade's online gallery is incredibly deceiving; pictures will lead you to believe that your room will be richly decorated, however, hairs in the bath and an outdated television (from the 50s?!) convinced me otherwise. Aesthetics aside, the bed was comfortable and perfectly met our needs for a place to stay overnight, but unfortunately does not excuse the lack of amenities in the room and, worst of all, the breakfast scam. Upon booking, one can choose whether to include breakfast in their stay for a small additional fee. My friend and I fell into this trap. No matter how small the extra cost, breakfast is absolutely not worth your money. A 'continental' buffet is arranged in the hotel's basement, consisting of fruit which is clearly overripe, stale pastries, room temperature yoghurt and cereal dispensers. The service at breakfast is lacking; at one point we were checked on by a member of staff and offered some orange juice, of which we naively accepted and were once again disappointed by. We left breakfast abruptly to grab our luggage and check out, only to be waiting at the desk for 20 minutes before we were finally granted our freedom. The Colonnade is a cheap place to stay, however its affordable prices do not excuse its poor service and facilities.

Mais tel ne fut pas le cas : il est impératif d'éteindre la climatisation. Le bruit de la rue (voitures et camions) est insupportable. My wife and I visited The Colonnade at the weekend after buying a Wowcher deal for a Prosecco Brunch. Despite arriving 45mins early for our booking we were accommodated without any fuss by Tom the restaurant manager and shown to our table. The restaurant is below street level but bathed in sunlight through the lovely glass roof as you can see from the pictures. Our waitress Zerrin took our order and we both chose the full breakfasts (one vegetarian) which were excellent. My wife had poached eggs and I chose scrambled, both were perfectly cooked, as were the mushrooms and tomatoes. Good quality bacon and sausage accompanied mine and my wife's vegetarian sausage was delicious too. Throughout the meal our table was attended regularly by both Zerrin and Tom who made sure our Prosecco glasses were never empty and both were delightful, making us feel welcome and very well looked after. A wonderful experience and highly recommended - thank you.

We booked this hotel because of it's location more than anything else. It needed to be easy to get to Wembley Stadium and also to the shopping areas of Oxford Street, so this was a good location.Staff were generally friendly, but in some cases we felt they were a little uncertain as to what they were doing, particularly at check-in. The rooms are old and in need of refurbishment, and in our case the room was tiny. As a tall bloke, the bathroom was so small I had to leave the door open! Beds are comfortable, although again, too small for me really. We only used the restaurant once during our stay for breakfast. The full English was good, but terribly overpriced at £17. The next day we went to Toast which is located in the road at the back of the hotel and had a better full English for £6.50!All in all, I can't say we had any major complaints, but I certainly would not say it justified the 4 stars. Perhaps a 3 at best in my view. That said, it served the purpose and didn't spoil our weekend. Plus the resident 14-year old cat is cute!

We have stayed here once before and came back as this is such a lovely hotel. It's an old building beautifully decorated with super staff. The rooms we have stayed have varied quite a lot in size but the smaller of the two was just as nice with the bonus of a balcony. There is also a resident cat with a little bed in the lounge that warmed me to the place even more. There is a contemporary restaurant in the basement that has been cleverly constructed with a glass room and access from the garden to keep it light and modern. The contrast works well with the old building above. We found this hotel initially when looking for somewhere close to Lords. It's is also convenient for walks to Regents Park, Primrose Hill and there is a nearby barge trip along the canal to Camden. A big thumbs up from us.

I visited the colonnade hotel on Sunday 20th May for prosecco brunch, as part of a birthday treat. It was a disaster from start to finish. We ordered the full English, which was distinctly below average, with the main component being baked beans. We were offered no toast or coffee, and had to ask for everything. Customer service was non existent. This would have been bad enough, but there was worse to come. Approximately 20 minutes after we had arrived (on time for the pre booked meal) an army of people turned up and began to dismantle the restaurant around us, moving furniture, setting up an area for the band, hanging streamers and decorations and climbing on furniture around us, in preparation for a (clearly imminent) children's party. This was the final straw and we left without finishing the disgraceful meal. We were essentially pushed out. We asked to speak to the manager, but unsurprisingly he couldn't be found. I left my business card and asked for him to contact me. I aldo called on 3 occasions the next day and he has never returned my call. A disappointing experience where we were treated appallingly. Avoid at all costs.

The food was perfectly nice but not amazing (but then again it was only £20) and we ended up having about 4 glassed of prosecco each. My girlfriend had eggs Benedict which was again nice and very good value with the Prosecco. New to the area and surprised at the number of local eateries that only open after 6.00pm.Guess there is very little lunchtime trade.Never even thought of eating in the hotel but saw the lunchtime 'special offer'.It was excellent...mushroom soup with nicely warmed bread followed by a huge helping of mild tandoor style chicken,a well presented salad, and a mountain of two colour rice plus a glass of house wine all for £14.50.Very good service in class surroundings approached by external staircase to a basement restaurant.I was so well satisfied that I was going to leave a generous tip.The moment was lost as there was the not unexpected 12.5% service charge automatically added to the bill, which took the shine off the occasion.I was the only person in the restaurant through lunch which supports my initial impression that there is no custom at that time of day.

Restaurant review only! I will start with the positive, the Hummus and warm bread was fantastic. We also enjoyed breakfast two of the three mornings that we stayed and that was fine. The negatives were that on Thursday evening, we were the only two guests in the restaurant. The "Manager" was seated in the corner speaking very loudly to the two servers, then even more loudly on his telephone as if we were not even there. Very unprofessional. The ambiance is interesting but very cold. The other restaurants in the neighborhood were packed with locals each night and I couldn't help but think that if things were warmed up a bit with an interesting menu, sprucing and warming up the decor and more attention paid to customer service, some of that business could flow over here. *This review does not reflect on the Colonnade Hotel that is lovely, warm and has a very professional staff*.

The food looked like something the resident cat threw up, there were no labels saying what it was and the hummus was warmer than the slop they served. Persian food in a hotel?! European yes, Asian fusion yes but not Persian!! The chef should be embarrassed. I also heard from another guest that the afternoon tea consists of processed cheese sandwiches! The only place I expect to see processed cheese is in a fast food restaurant not in a 5 star hotel! How they got the five stars is beyond me - did they buy the stars from Rymans?!

I’ve never been so disappointed with an afternoon tea! I purchased a voucher from Amazon Local at £29 pounds for two people, which I thought seemed a good deal, considering the £39 per person price tag advertised on the hotel’s website! However, when we got there we were seated, not in elegant surroundings, as promised, but in a basement breakfast room with a large plasma TV set on a music channel. We were seated at a wooden, undressed table in the style of a nondescript café. Considering the standard of the hotel and its rating, it’s hard to believe that they would serve an afternoon tea for that price in such a room. We sat down and were simply given our tray and left to it. They did not check on us throughout the tea or ask if everything was okay, and when we left there were no staff around to speak to in the café. This sadly was not the most disappointing aspect of the whole experience. The food itself was barely enough for two people and consisted of a small selection of sandwiches with non-existent fillings, with one sandwich filled with a hard and translucent thin slice of cheese. We were given one small scone each, a few small cakes including a stale macaron and a glass of Sparkling wine. I’ve experienced far superior afternoon teas in London hotels at a lower price and it’s inconceivable that they can charge this price, voucher or not, for such an underwhelming experience in terms of atmosphere, food and customer service.

The hotel looked lovely but when you go down to the afternoon tea room it's not as nice as the pictures make out on the website. 4* Champagne Afternoon Tea for 2 £29 instead of £78 for a Champagne afternoon tea for two including sandwiches, scones and cakes at 4* The Colonnade Hotel, Warwick Avenue - save 63% The wowcher offer looked very good and I thought I'd treat a friend with afternoon tea and a glass of champagne , I was left very disappointed and embarrassed for taking him.The room where service was being carried out looked like a building site with a step ladder in the middle of the room, empty dirty picture frames hanging on the walls, it smelled of paint and felt absolutely soulless. We were supposed to be greeted with a glass of champagne but it did not come till after the tea then the finger sandwiches and cakes when somebody else asked for it.The waitress did not seem to be aware of the package. There may have been a shortage of glasses, although there was only two tables occupied, when the champagne finally arrived, ours was served in different glasses than the other table. It also seemed odd to me and my companion that there were 9 finger sandwiches, 3 cucumber, 3 egg and 3 ham and cheese, not the best to divide fairly between two , whereas everything else was paired. It seems, looking at the Colonnades website, this hotel really does charge £78 for afternoon tea with a glass of champagne for two, how they manage to get customers willing to pay that for what is delivered baffles me.I have been for afternoon tea at two other places in a short period of time and they both beat this one hands down for quality and value.I wish I hadn't seen the wowcher offer for afternoon tea here and saved my money.I would not be returning and sadly couldn't possibly recommend afternoon tea here to anybody.

This was my email to them which explains all my frustration and disappointment....Dear Sir/ Madam,I am writing about our dinner for 8 on Friday night, 25th Sep 15. This was meant to be a celebration dinner with our families for our engagement and I was very much looking forward to it.Unfortunately your exceptional poor customer service and a very poor food quality left only bad memories for our special night. My father is disabled, so I made sure that the car park is booked for him so he doesn't have to walk far. As we arrived I realised the car park was blocked. Luckily I managed to find a space in front of the hotel so I parked the car there without complaining about the car park situation. My brother went in the reception before my father and I arrived. Once he gave the name they told him he needed to pay £20 for the car park. As he was not aware of the parking situation he paid cash straight away. Once I got in, I explained to the receptionist that the car park was blocked so we didn't use it. Very reluctantly and with no apologies she said that she needs to speak to her manager before she can pay the money back. She said she will come downstairs later which she never did!We all went downstairs and ordered our starters. My mother-in-law was the only person that didn't order one. Once they brought everyone's starters, they brought her main at the same time. She was a little confused as in if she should wait for everyone else's main before eating or just to eat so the food doesn't go cold. She started eating slowly with us and by the time our main arrived she ended up just having the rest of the cold food. I have never been anywhere that bring the main with starters without asking! The quality of the starters were extremely bad. There was pesto sauce on every single starter we ordered. The soup tasted like canned soup and the portobello mushroom was full of vinegar that by the end of it my throat was burning.Once the mains arrived the lamb on the lamb skewers were burnt and the ones that were not, did not have any taste. My sword fish was so salty that I only managed to have two bites! I'm pretty sure your waitress will remember picking up my full plate at the end.I kept apologising to everyone for my very bad choice of location all the way through and we paid the bill without even asking for the dessert menu. The whole time I was so upset that I couldn't wait to get out of the restaurant and to make it less stressful for everyone I decided to write to you than speaking in front of everyone and refusing to pay the bill.I am extremely unhappy with the whole experience and so upset that my special night was ruined at the hotel.

The restaurant is small and in the basement to the front of the Hotel with a glass facade and partial glass roof.We had one of those Groupon deals, and booked a late table, we were one of two covers. The food was nothing special, I ordered a medium rare rib eye steak which was disappointing as it was nearer well done, my niece had to send hers back as hers too was over cooked and tough. The waiter had no idea how a medium rare steak should look and insisted they were as we ordered. The waiter was pleasant enough and the service was relatively quick.I think it is more suited to being a Bar and Restaurant for the hotel guests.

The dining area was very nice, in a conservatory just down the stairs from the reception. It was also interesting to learn that Alan Turing, the WW2 code breaker, was born in the building. I'd recommend this venue for afternoon tea, especially if you can find an offer or voucher.

We had a voucher for the new dinner deal. 2 courses and a glass of wine. They also gave us free sparkling water even though not on the voucher. Starters we had prawn tempura and I had Mediterranean salad . The tempura batter was very light the prawns thick and juicy with a side bowl f flavoursome light chili sauce. Mmmm!!! The Mediterranean salad was well balanced with artichokes sun dried tomatoes mozzarella mixed salad croutons and a lovely very very light dressing. Gorgeous! As mains we had wonderful lamb cutlets with dauphinoise potatoes and red cabbage which was really well balanced and tasty. The lamb was juicy and tender. I had grilled wild halibut which was served with this glorious white very light dressing with herbs which accompanied the beautiful asparagus and courgettes .They even provided us with complimentary bread.Their wine was fabulous a Sangiovese from Imola in Emilia Romagna which is one of the best Sangiovese's I have had for a long time . We are definitely going back . The waitress was do attentive and kind. We loved it

Nothing not to like here. Sandwiches were fresh, not very interesting but fine. Scones were warm and tasty, with a nice selection of pastries.. More of everything was offered by the 2 friendly but busy waitresses. Good value for money with a coupon, decent venue, I'd go back.

This was meant to be a treat of a Christmas lunch, after working over Christmas ands Boxing Day. It was a sad disappointment. We chose the set menu. Unfortunately there were only three choices of hors d'oeuvre. .. and two had cheese which I don't eat. The third was pumpkin soup, very nice, but with far more croutons than would normally be expected.. dumped rather than sprinkled I think. My husband had a portion of mozzarella with red cabbage and walnuts which was fine. Then I chose the turkey whilst he favoured the beef. Being asked how he would like it bore no relation to how it was served. Medium rare turned out to be medium well, tough and inedible. When the waitress was told, her response was 'well do you want me to get another?' His reply?' Well I'm not eating this one! ' The amount on both main courses was substantial but it was unnerving to be asked if we wanted ketchup in a supposedly upmarket establishment. A request for English mustard was filled by a small pot of a very pale substitute and we found out that the waitress had not known there were different kinds! The turkey was. .. ok... no taste really. . And the potatoes were rather soulless too. My husband was not asked, at any time, if the second plate was better. . Nor did the girl apologise at all. Creme Brulee was fine and the waffle was filling but stodgy. The milk jug that was brought to accompany the coffee was cracked and grubby. . It had to be asked for, as it was not brought automatically with the hot drinks. We eat out a lot, all types of price ranges. . And you can be sure we won't be returning to the colonnade. We have far better beef in a Toby! We may not get the quantity but the quality is far superior!

Staff are very friendly and the venue is great with 3 small medium sized rooms.Organised private party for friends, was convenient to set-up; organising food was easy and then on the night fantastically prepared. The venue is used during the day for hotel restaurant but is set up more for a bar and suits a party very easily. It was expensive but the whole night went without a hitch much down to the hard work of management and staff. If you are looking for venue to host party cannot recommend enough.Would be great to fix the bars internal lights :-)

I had afternoon tea with a voucher. The room looks a little tired, and the staff seemed to be more concerned with chatting that serving. There were only a couple of guests. The afternoon tea was ok, but I was expecting much better with this calibre of hotel. The pastries seemed to be store-bought and I did not care for them. The scones were alright, and the sandwiches were alright. Overall, I thought that this was over-prices, and I would not have been happy to have paid the full price of this. I thought it was a little expensive with the voucher.

I took my daughter here for a treat. It was disappointing. The glass of bubbles was fine but the tea itself was of poor quality. The sandwiches were fresh but unexciting. The cakes were,or appeared to be shop bought and of no great quality. The earl grey tea was ok. The service was good and the waitress pleasant. The restaurant is a glass covered basement, not ideal. No I wouldn't recommend the experience to you.

Brilliant location and cosily decorated. Had a voucher which was good value but food and sevice was really disappointing and I wouldn't return. Even on a Saturday evening the general atmosphere was really awkward; music was bearly audible and we found ourselves whispering! Food wise the chicken ceasar salad starter was actually pretty good but everything else was poor especially the seemingly processed fishcakes & overdone chips.

We visited The Colonnade for afternoon tea as we had a voucher. The voucher was 29.00 for tea for two with champagne. The overall experience fell short, and it was not worth the cost. The hotel upstairs looks nice. The bar downstairs was quite hot and plain. You could also sit outside to have tea. I wanted to but my partner did not. others arrived and they all did so we had the bar to ourselves. The bar had a TV. It was not on. We heard a range of music from speakers for some of the time there. We had our prosecco, and it was not very chilled. And flat. And one glass was less full than the other! Fail! The sandwiches, scones, and pastries were just ok. Average or below and nothing special. Macaroon and éclairs were ok. Carrot cake was too dry. Brownie seemed cheap too. Service was not very helpful. They just stood in a corner and chatted. We were the only ones in the bar. Didn't even provide a menu or tell us what the desserts were when they were delivered. Asked for tea order and I had to ask to see tea menu. Not good at all. This is not worth even the price I paid for the voucher. Apparently non - voucher price is 64.00. The 29.00 I paid is a rip off too.

I booked this as a romantic treat for my boyfriend. What a let down! We were directed to a grotty basement bar, away from the main hotel, by an unfriendly sign. The room smelt and there was no view other than a widescreen tv with Sky News on constantly. This was not the delightful tea room with pianist that other friends had experienced at The Hilton for the same price. The quality of the food was poor and the sandwiches made from cheap, white bread.

I came for afternoon tea with a voucher. The afternoon tea itself was delicious; delicate finger sandwiches (egg mayo, ham & cheese, cucumber), a great selection of cakes (mini éclair, brownies, macaroons, banana loaf and a mini cheesecake) and the scone was fresh and warm. The only slight let down was the completely hands off approach by the waitress, she was polite but only spoke to us when we arrived and when she delivered our afternoon tea. I know the price is usually around £60 per pair and to be honest for that sum you would expect better service.

Had tea here today on a Travelzoo Voucher - £16 for 2 people - great bargain! This is a lovely hotel in a period house, there is a plaque indicating that the building was the birth place of Alan Turin of Bletchley Park fameTea is served in a delightful lower level room which is extremely pretty and very airy, due to its glass roof. As well as large pots of the tea of choice, the sandwiches are fresh and delicious, as are the warm scones served with jam and cream and the lovely selection of mini pastriesThe waitresses were very nice and asked if we would like more of anything, which, sadly we could not manage!I highly recommend this establishment and will return

I just had to write a quick review of our afternoon tea experience from this afternoon! Unhappy about quite a few things during our visit, but will try and keep this brief! Upon entering the hotel foyer, we were greeted by a cat, which was a little odd, but we ignored. What we didn't ignore is when the cat stalked around the tables whilst we were say waiting for our tea to be served. Extremely unhygienic in my view. After it was lurking by my mother’s chair for a good while (we are not cat fans) we had to ask for it be removed, after which the waitress picked it up and took it out. Hopefully she washed her hands after! Really odd that this was normal! As for the food. The sandwiches (very cheap looking fillings, with just 3 different fillings, cucumber, ham and cheese and egg mayo) on very cheap looking bread. To top it off, they had obviously all been made hours earlier as the bread was crispy you could hear them rustle when running you finger across them! We asked for a new set, thinking maybe it was just a dud batch, but the replacement was the same. Needless to say we didn't eat them. The scones we received were tiny, and rock hard from being over cooked/reheated. We looked over at a couple who also had an afternoon tea stand and they had a completely different selection than what we did. Better and larger fruit scones, a better cake selection, and from what I could tell better sandwich fillings! All round, a better tea spread. They didn't pay using a wowcher voucher like us, they paid direct. The pastry and cake selection was okay, although the carrot cake was dry and tasted like the shop bought variety. Seeing as we didn't eat the sandwiches, we asked for some more scones, (we needed to feel at least a little satisfaction from our spread) they then brought in these huge scones with juicy raisins, which is what the non voucher couple had. Needless to say, these scones were much much better! The reason we didn't get these with the original spread? Because we weren't paying the full price! Voucher = economy afternoon tea and not their regular, so be warned! After trying to make my mum feel special with this treat on her birthday, it actually did the opposite! Not worth the voucher price at all. On the plus side, the staff were very nice and attentive! (Sorry, I tried to keep it short!)

In the heart of Little Venice, the Colonnade Hotel has a delightful garden, perfect for a nice afternoon tea. We had glasses of prosecco and wine, with a couple of cheese plates, well-served by a delightful, attentive waitress. They also have what looks like a nice high tea, although it seemed rather expensive. The only negative, was that the tables and chairs had been heavily attacked from the air by flocks of birds apparently, and no one should have been allowed to sit there by "health and safety," until all of the tables could be cleaned, or fresh table cloths put down.

Booked afternoon tea through Groupon and it was nice but not a chance anyone should pau more than £25 for it!! Waitresses were not very keen on good service, i think this was clear for everyone too..We didn't get a choice on what you wanted first tea or champagne which would of been nice but again staff didn't seem bothered about what we'd of preferred. Cakes were nice, scones were still warm when they came out which was nice. Restaurant is not easy to find if you go though the hotel entrance and you don't get any help from staff when you ask for it and I would say use the restaurant entrance but this was not sign posted at all when we went.

On such a lovely sunny afternoon the Colonnade tea garden was delightful, however the tea wasn't !!The sandwiches had definitely been left uncovered and were curling up at the corners and the outside slices were very dried up, the fillings were very doubtful. The scones were sadly lacking any fruit and again were dry. We were given one quarter or a strawberry between two of us. The carrot cake had no taste whatsoever, it was just the right colour and the cream on top was pleasant. Not a good afternoon tea, which I hope with this comment they might well improve.

Booked afternoon tea with Groupon for two at £29. When we arrived the hotel was being decorated with a decorator sitting on the floor having his brake. Sat in a room with no character, tv on the wall. Champagne was served as soon as we sat down, would have been nice to have the choice to have it after our tea! Then had to wait 15 minutes for our sandwiches to be brought out, well what a disappointment, poor fillings and not even the crust not cut off properly. The cakes were shop brought and looked and tasted as if they had been frozen and defrosted. Not once did the waitress come over to see if everything was ok. Was the worst afternoon tea ever.

I took my boyfriend to E bar on a date, and it was quite romantic as it's all candle lit, with big sofas. We walked past the entrance a couple of times as we couldn't work out if we should go down the stairs or enter via the hotel (go down the stairs!). The cocktail menu has plenty on there, so we asked the waitress to talk us through, which she did. We tried an avocado cocktail, which sounds bizaar, but it actually worked. We didn't try the wine, but again the list was huge. The tapas was good...

I didn't realise at first that this was The Colonnade's bar, it's tucked away in Little Venice but is a great place to meet for drinks and a bite to eat. It's great value for money, has a fab selection of drinks and the food is good too – there's a wide selection of tapas dishes (very affordable) and an excellent set menu.

What a little gem! I can't believe I've not found this place before! Lovely staff serve awesome cocktails and fabulous flavours from around the world in little Tapas size portions or if you like they have a 3 course menu with a great selection to choose from. There is a bright and airy front area and in the back there is a lovely cosy, seductive lounge area with soft sofas to sink into! They apparently even do BBQ's in the summer and to top it have a cool terrace. I'll be back every week as I've...

Tried to eat at the St. John’s wood location today. The worst restaurant experience I can remember. Party of 2 - we ordered our mains, no appetizers. Drinks didn’t arrive after 20 minutes, so we reordered them and then they arrived. After an hour’s wait (no bread given mind you to keep you going), the hostess came out to apologize to us. I thought the food would be forthcoming after that. After another half an hour (90 minutes total wait now), still no food. So I asked the hostess what was going on. She again apologized but said the food would still be at least half an hour more. The restaurant was not that busy. I could have gone to the kitchen myself and cooked the food in 10 minutes. So we walked out without having eaten anything. I was absolutely shocked. No offer to come in for a free meal. No offer of complimentary desserts or wine. Nothing. I’ve never had someone tell me that my food will be half an hour more after already waiting 90 minutes. I’d have to expected at that point she’d be down in the kitchen cooking herself. Appalling. Rude. Stay away. Horrible excuse for a restaurant.
