Went here for coffee and carrot cake..I thought £3.35 for a slice of cake was pretty steep..especially when you can buy a whole one for under £3..also the cutlery could of been alot cleaner..friendly enough staff but prices and cleanliness needs to be looked at.

Never been before but thought we’d give it a go. They sell breakfast rolls, Jacket potatoes, tea cakes, scones, cake. Not a huge variety but sufficient. They also claim to serve Costa coffee and drinks come in Costa cups. So we ordered 2 tea cakes, a slice of cake, a tea and a cappuccino. Ordering required patience as the lady was busy and kept popping out the back and returning. We asked what the cake was and we got a long hashed sentence basically saying it was either lemon, lime, orange or something else. It looked orange and tasted orange but the lady insisted after that it was actually lemon and lime… who who knows. The cake was nice and light. Not the best cake ever but good enough. The tea cakes were toasted perfectly for me. My friend thought they needed toasting more but I pointed out that whilst the one side was less done, the other was on the verge of being too brown, so any longer and it would be burned on the one side. She then agreed they were done well. The butter that came with them was rock solid having been in a fridge, so we sandwiched the butter in the tea cake to get it to melt. The two butters we found was not enough. We made do but probably could have done with 3. Tea cakes were standard, so fine. Not as good as the Teacakes in Sainsburys cafe, but sufficient. The cappuccino was in now way a normal Costa one. It was very sweet and weaker. I thought it tasted like a pre-mix type coffee. It wasn’t great but wasn’t horrific. Just not Costa. The tea was just tea. No tea spoons though. Just wooden sticks to stir with. We went back up to the desk to ask about tea spoons but the lady never came back to the till so we gave up (we did later spot a doorbell on the counter so had we seen it, we probably should have rang that). Overall it wasn’t bad. I’d maybe go again. Coffee defo better at the actual Costa a short walk away. We also found we couldn’t use our Costa card here so lost out on Costa points we would have had if we went to the actual Costa. Was good value though for what we had. It was an improvement on our expectations.

We stopped for a cream tea towards the end of the day around an hour before they closed and the assistant really didn't want to serve us, made clear by her attitude. She was quite rude and the Rodda clotted cream for the cream tea was either frozen or past it's best. When we asked for another one she brought over one that had been microwaved and was runny around the edges with a hard lump in the middle. No apology, very bad attitude. We will go elsewhere next time.

Visited the cafe about 10 in the morning and had 2 slices of toast. The girl serving gave me 2 little squares of butter for the 2 lge slices so i asked if i could have a little more. She said if i wanted more butter it would cost me 25p a square.couldnt believe it. She certainly could do with some lessons in customer care. The tea was only luke warm aswell. I would never use this cafe again which is a shame as the rest of the store is great.

I used to visit this cafe every time I went to The Range. Christmas time I went in the food was terrible. I never visited again, up until last weekend. I had a jacket potato with tuna. It was extremely overcooked, skin too thick, the potato was brown. The man behind the counter gave us one and half jackets, think he thought they looked bad too! Tuna had more mayo than tuna. I will not be eating in there ever again, not worth the money. Go across the road to plenty of other cafes that take pride in what they serve a customer.

Food was a bit pricey but they had a meal deal for £5 which included a toastie, drink and crisps. Considering a packet of crisps was a pound on its own the deal was a must. However the toastie was bland. I had cheese and ham. The ham was in small square chunks and not a lot of it. The toastie was burnt on the underside and it was falling apart. The cheese had no taste and in clumps; not what you expect from a hot toastie. Underwhelming doesnt cover it. Won’t eat here again.

The staff are nothing but rude, 0 customer service skills, every single time I have been in there the staff are either out the back sat chatting (could see them) or sat at a table gossiping with friends. When they can clearly see us waiting to be served. But the conversation was clearly more important. Plastic cutlery as the dishwasher had broken. No hot food as the "oven" was broken! (Microwave) !!! Oh and no salt ! Paper cups and plates. Bypass if possible!! Shame as other range stores have lovely cafe's. It's not good for the poor people who own the chain!

My sister and I visited the range today because we wanted to sit and have a coffee our experience was not great. Craig the manager was unprofessional and rude. I asked for a regular soya latte before I finished Craig had already walked off with his back to me to start making the coffee. I said to him do you want to come back so you can hear me and I can finish my order, he was cocky and repeated what I had said whilst he had his back to me. I then asked which chocolate powder you use he wasn't helpful and replied what do you mean it's just a costa powder.. I explained what I mean is what brand are you using because I do not want it if it contains milk. I went back to the counter shortly after to order another coffee for my sister and one of the other female staff come out of the kitchen looked around the cafe from the counter and said makes you laugh how lazy people are, referring to the customers that had been and left their cups and plates on the tables. She came out to start clearing them with a sour face, there was no where for the customers to put their dirty cups and plates because where you put them was full. It's her job to clear them and stay on top of clearing the space for them to go. Overall unfriendly and unprofessional staff with poor customer service!!!

We visited Dee Dee's as a mother-daughter treat after doing some Christmas shopping. My fussy daughter was desperate to have the topping off the deluxe hot chocolate without the actual drink. Not a request they get every day I'm sure. The kind staff member happily put this into a little dish for her, with a mini gingerbread on top. It really is the little things with children, and this was the highlight of her morning, and therefore mine too. Thank you!

We visited the Range at Pitsea and decided to have lunch in the stores café, what a disaster. their was only two people in front of us but it took over ten minutes before we was able to place our order we ordered our drinks and ordered 2 cheese and onion pasties, after waiting a further 15 minutes our food was delivered to our table, I would like to say it was worth waiting for but we were very disappointed, we will not be returning.

Really upset with this place. Ordered three food items a tea and a soft drink. Waited in the queue for ten painful minutes. The queue had one person in it. Good arrives along with soft drink and tea. Coffee takes another ten minutes despite the couple behind me getting their exact same drinks before me. So no drinks with food. Family ended up waiting for me to drink my coffee. Wouldn't have been so bad if there was a problem with the coffee machine but no the server decided that others were more worthy of his attention. We had to ask three times for the drink. Never had such bad service. It's shocking.

I went here with my mum a while ago. She had a black coffee and I had a blue slushie. I can't have gluten so we thought that we wouldn't be able to get anything to eat but they had a basket full of gluten free items on the counter! My mum and I both had a gluten free bakewell tart slice each. It was great that they provided alternative food choices and they were so yummy!

My 7 year old son and I popped in for a drink and sandwich whilst hunting down stationary for my son to spend his pocket money on. We've never spotted the little coffee area so we thought we would try it. I opted for the standard Americano whilst my son had the fluorescent slushy. The baguettes looked pretty appetising (even at £4 each) so we added them to the bill. The drink were good but the baguettes were awful I'm afraid, the ham salad baguette was filled with brown lettuce and slushy cucumber and the tuna cheese melt tasted of melt. Although my son ate the tuna under duress, I had to take the ham salad back to which the dark haired man handled fairly kindly at first - but then spoke to his colleague about the situation with rolling eyes and tuts to match. I felt awful but it just wasn't edible. They did replace the sandwich for a toasted one hesitantly, and that sandwich was actually ok. Sorry for the bad review but I just feel that customer service was lacking, I can't condemn the food because we may have picked the only bad two. Smile more guys!!

While shopping at the Range we thought we would try the coffee shop as a friend had recommended it. It was good to see it had a 5 rating, it was very clean. Toilet was very clean and tables were cleared as soon as customers left. The girl greeted us with a big smile and made conversation while making the drinks. I would definitely recommend the coffee shop to everyone. We had a very tasty baguette.

Absolutely awful. I’m lactose intolerant, they were unable to provide anything other than small individual portions of soya milk. No dairy free/vegan products, very surprising in this day and age! I don’t expect to be provided with much but was hoping for a warm milky drink, latte or hot chocolate or even a cup soup. I bought a hoodie from the shop and was given a dirty look from the shop assistant. Really bad attitude from most of the staff. I have been to similar types of places elsewhere and this is by far the worst example of it’s sort. Captive audience yes but not helping promote Welsh tourism!

Visited today, Sunday lunch time. Requested a roast turkey sandwich…no turkey left. Requested ham, egg & chips….no ham left. Ordered an Egg mayo sandwich and a tuna and cucumber sandwich, both served with a side salad and slaw. Sandwiches we arrived….no coleslaw….! £16 for 2 sandwiches…..pretty poor!

The little beer shed has changed hands and is now a mini bakery outlet selling some quite good bread, coffee and baked snacks. I hope that Ales and Tails mobile operation is still out and about.
