The Coffee Shop at Heaton in Bolton

Lovely atmosphere, brilliant service and always delicious home cooked food. Today I was on my own, but made to feel so welcome. I had the special of the day beef brisket in a Yorkshire pudding. I’ve had many lovely meals, home made soups and sandwiches here, but this brisket was one of the most delicious tastiest meals I’ve had anywhere. I hope it’s a special again! Love this place.

Delightful staff. Daniel really helped us bc we really needed an android charger. Lovely coffee. Went back for lunch. Home made quiche with tiny cup of soup! Scallop Potatoes. Tea served with a timer! Home made Delish fresh. THANKYOU for having us!

My wife’s brother and his wife were down in Bolton from Doncaster so we thought we would treat them to a decent breakfast so where better than the coffee shop at heaton. They weren’t disappointed. Great food, wonderful staff and a great atmosphere. They want to visit again.

Excellent lunch today, had to try the new menu. Can recommend the flatbreads. I had the chicken tikka flatbread. My daughter had the halloumi cheese flatbread which is what I will have next time. Will go again…. And again… And again

The Festive menu is a triumph. The Pigs in Blanket with Camembert on a cranberry and sage oven-bottom muffin for breakfast is delicious.

I came across this place after searching for lunch places near me on Google. What a lovely place! We booked in advance so had no issues getting seated. The service and food was lovely. Can’t fault this lovely little breakfast/ lunch venue. Hidden gem 💎

Had breakfast Friday and Saturday morning and all I can say is Yum Yum. Good selection of food and great service. Will be visiting again and again and again…

Decent cup of coffee and decent oat milk latte. Staff friendly enough too. The "however" to all this was (a) the fact that, on offering my own cup (small), I was charged for a large latte and (b) price. £3.60 for a large latte in a small cup is poor value. Also, this cafe falls into the usual trap of charging extra for an oat milk latte. By this I mean that the cafe charges for a latte with normal milk, doesn't provide the normal milk and then charges again for oat milk. Result; customer with an allergy to dairy pays twice; once not to have normal milk and once to have the alternative. This cafe therefore makes local alternatives look like great value. Both Caffe Italia and The Cakery charge £2.80 for superb oat milk lattes. I ended up paying £3.60 for what was a small latte. This makes the bigger chains seem reasonable - something I'd really prefer not to accept. So; in future, why not offer the customer a choice - regular or large? Why not offer a small discount to someone who brings their own cup for a takeaway coffee? These are small acknowledgements but would be appreciated. Come on Heaton Coffee, you can do better and, not so very long ago, you DID do better. That's why this particular disappointed customer will be going to Caffe Italia in the future and will be telling friends to do the same.

Excellent lunch today. Deb had the quiche salad bowl. I had the crumbly Lancashire salad bowl. Definitely recommend the salad bowls. Will be going back again…. And again… And again.

We booked for afternoon tea on Mothering Sunday. The food was fantastic and the service was really good. All the food was freshly made, beautifully presented and just perfect!

I used to go at the end of the week, Friday or Saturday but found it was getting very busy so I changed tack and went mid week. Bad move, it was just as busy. Word must be getting round which is no bad thing. I’ll just have to go as they open. Watch this space. Oh by the way it’s just as good as ever.

Popped in for a takeaway coffee and cake and to book a table for Saturday. Excellent service and friendly staff. Coffee is excellent. Cakes are excellent. It’s local to me so a short walk away and a good excuse to step away from the desk and get out of the office 😃

I regularly use this cafe and have always taken friends here. The food is excellent it is clean and the staff pleasant. However today they were too slow with service. I waited 25 minutes for my haloumi burger to be served after also waiting quite a while to place my order so a good 40 minutes from being seated. It was extremely busy and the staff were working hard but they didn't seem to be able to cope with demand.

Always serve a good breakfast, and the coffee is great as well; the “Best in Bolton”. Friendly staff and a great atmosphere make it the perfect place for coffee and cake or something more substantial.

Found this by accident and what a surprise. The drinks and food are excellent and the staff are friendly and attentive. A good discovery and will return.

Like most people who had been waiting to eat inside this friendly little coffee shop, I was more than ready to book a table to enjoy a full English. I wasn't disappointed.

I ordered afternoon tea for two for a lockdown birthday treat for collection. From the moment I ordered to the moment I collected, The coffee shop at Heaton didn’t fail to please. Diane kindly answer all my questions (even out if hours)Afternoon tea per person comprised of: 3 large half sandwiches, sausage roll, crisps , 3 cakes, a homemade scone with clotted cream and jam and a choice of a hot or cold drink. There was more than enough for two and it was very filling (saved the cakes for the day after)I would definitely recommend the afternoon tea if you fancy a treat, food is delicious, all homemade and the staff are lovely

It hasn't the same ring as Tiffany's and they probably won't turn it into a film but they do a pretty tasty breakfast and that suits me. I've been all over the world, staying in hotels and on ships and been in some lovely restaurants but had never been to Heaton coffee shop until today and it's just around the corner. We booked ahead just to secure a table, it being the weekend and this covid thing still being with us. The greeting on arrival was very friendly and all the eating establishment rules were in place even to the hand drier in the toilets being switched off which it isn't in most other places. Our table had a reserved sign on it with our name attached. It was 11am and was fairly busy. Our food, a full English with a bacon sandwich was perfect as it seemed to be with everyone else who was eating. I had heard really good reports about the place before I went and saw nothing to dispute it. I will certainly be going again. Well done everyone.

Ordered a mixture of sweet and savoury afternoon teas including a children’s one on Sat, 12th Dec 20. Everything was absolutely delicious and you could tell it was all top quality produce. The children’s afternoon tea had a good selection of items and my little boy said it was the best Highly recommend you give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed.

So happy that our favourite coffee shop is open for takeaway during the lockdown. Today’s order of bacon sandwiches, potato cakes, homemade sausage rolls and cake did not disappoint. Possibly the best coffee in Bolton, can’t wait for Jonathan and his trusty team to welcome us back when restrictions are lifted.

Me and my mum wanted to try the Heaton Coffee Shop as we are quite local but hadn’t been before and due to Covid we had to get the takeaway lunch. We rang within minutes of the shop opening and we were answered straight away. I went to collect and the service was wonderful and it was lovely to see that the staff knew the regulars and you could tell that they loved going there too. The food we ordered was really nice and warm, perfect lunch for us both. Will definitely be making this more of a regular occurrence. Thankyou!!

We were fortunate enough to book a family afternoon tea which was delivered to our house as we are isolating. It was beautifully presented in a huge box- a variety of sandwiches, sausage rolls, mini cakes, scones and a kinder egg for each child. Drinks were also included which was a lovely touch. The food tasted absolutely amazing - the bread used for the sandwiches was delicious and the fillings varied and tasty. I especially enjoyed the coronation chicken which was perfect. The scones were super fresh and perfect size, accompanied with proper clotted cream and a mini pot of jam. We each had a small millionaire shortbread, ginger cake and toffee cake included- these were all fabulous. Thank you so much for making our day brilliant, it felt like such a treat!

My 100 year old friend loves the coffee shop and has been going most weeks for lunch with myself as his carer, however with Covid this has all had to stop . Imagine his delight when I tell him the coffee shop has reopened and if I can’t get him to the coffee shop , I’ll bring the coffee shop to him . Yesterday we had our favourite cheese and chutney sandwiches followed by the famous hokey pokey coffee cake - he was delighted and thoroughly enjoyed it . We look forward to the time we can get back to the shop but in the meantime this is the next best thing ! Thanks all

This is one of the sweetest places to go for coffee and the food is beautiful with lots of gluten free to choose from. Staff are all pleasant too.

I visited with my little boy after seeing they did vegan cake on Facebook. As he has an allergy it isn’t very often that he is able to go out and enjoy cake so we jumped at the chance. The cafe was really clean and felt very safe. The staff were friendly and spent time talking to my little boy. He thoroughly enjoyed the cake and the coffee I had was delicious. It was all so good we ordered takeaway cake. We will definitely be back soon.

We moved in to the area recently and were looking forward to trying this place. Unfortunately, they were still closed so we had to be patient a bit longer. It didn't disappoint. We called for lunch today and were told they 'only' had tables left in the snug. But the snug is light, airy and very comfortable. The place itself is spotless and the service efficient and friendly. I had the potato cake sandwich and my partner soup and a sandwich. All delicious and we will definitely become regulars.

I had my baby shower afternoon tea in the snug yesterday and was so impressed with everything from start to finish ! The food was presented so wonderfully and was of such good quality too; the ingredients and cakes were explained to us and there was plenty for everyone. Everyone commented on how nice the snug is and how friendly and accommodating the staff are. Such a reasonable price too with the bonus of exclusive use for the event, Diane ensured the snug was available for me to decorate beforehand. All my friends said how much they’d enjoyed the day and we’d all be back for another visit. Diane was so helpful from taking the booking to sending me a follow up email after the event to check all had gone smoothly! Would not hesitate to recommend - you are all absolute stars ! Thank you ! We found this cafe on Trip Advisor when visiting the area recently. Jonathan, the owner, is obviously passionate about great coffee and freshly prepared, locally sourced food. I enjoyed the potato cakes and my husband had a bacon sandwich on sourdough. The coffee, which is their own blend, is perfect and the homemade lemon drizzle cake delicious! We had quite a chat with Jonathan who tells us he’s planning some bistro nights too. We will definitely be back.

Myself and a colleague visited in the week before Christmas. What a little gem Diane and Jonathan have here! It's so lovely, cosy and a great atmosphere. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We always have a pay day treat so will be back again in the next few weeks. Very highly recommended!

Phenomenal customer services, ordered two breakfast And two latte’s.. I drink quite a few lattes from various places and this place tops the lot without question. Came very promptly and breakfast come to the table very shortly afterwards, very homely vibe, highly recommend to anyone looking for breakfast that will undoubtedly be the best you’ll come across. You can tell the food is very fresh and not taste like rubber like most places.

With a friend, i went on a journey to try out a number of local independent coffee shops, as recommended by the local newspaper. The Coffee Shop at Heaton was one of the friendliest and most welcoming and, in my opinion, served one of the best coffees that I have ever had (n and I.ve drunk coffee in many places in the UK and abroad). My wife and I love this place. Great food, friendly staff and really child friendly. There’s a snug at the back which is sometimes used for events and can be booked out. Also, the potato cake sandwiches are amazing!

After a long, disturbed night (nursing family sickness!), this coffee was exactly what I needed to bounce back, and focus on the meeting! The heart was the cherry on the coffee, what a gem of a coffee shop!

We have just visited the Coffee Shop for coffee and lunch and loved the warm and friendly atmosphere. The excellent coffee and well presented locally sourced food was delicious and there was plenty of choice. Regular place for me. Perfect coffee. Lovely, helpful staff. Food is great too. Is a regular recommend for me. I come here with my laptop when I need some time to work quietly. But also bring my friends and little girl here. She loves the kids hot chocolate, the kids menu is great too ... and of course the ice cream. Lovely place and love it’s around the corner for me.

This is a great place to visit for snacks,lunch or great coffee.The owners Jonathen and Diane and all the staff are friendly and give you a warm welcome and you soon settle into the ambience of the coffee shop.We have become regular customers have have many other people who choose to visit this classy coffee house.

This is my 6th visit and it never fails to deliver! The coffee shop has a lovely feel to it. I take my 2 children (5 and 6) and one is a particularly fussy eater. They always accommodate her and nothing is too much trouble. As a treat they love the salted caramel ice with caramel sauce and a chocolate flake mmm! I love the delicious selection of cakes. I will be back soon.

I have been coming to this coffee shop for 3 years now and I can only say it is just a fantastic place to come for the best coffee, the best service, the friendliest staff and is truly a treat to visit time and time again. If you’re ever in the Heaton area visiting The Coffee Shop is a must. A warm welcome awaits you every time, Johnathon and his staff always go out of their way to ensure your visit is enjoyed. As a coffee addict, their lavazza coffee is always made to perfection. The daily lunch menu is always fresh and tasty and I would definitely recommend their Halloumi Heaven finished with a lemon drizzle cake or brownie, it’s delightful. The Coffee Shop is a great place to meet with family and friends or even for a table for one. You will always receive a friendly welcome.

If you are looking for a coffee shop which serves the best coffee and the most delicious coffee and walnut cake ever, look no further!!!!! Johnathan and his dedicated staff were so welcoming on our first visit. The food surpassed our expectations. The cakes were all homemade and there was such a variety to choose from. The service was brilliant and Belinda deserves a special mention for making us so welcome. This will now be a regular place for us to have lunch and we are looking forward to trying their delicious cream teas in the very near future.

A good extensive menu is available. The food is delicious and plentiful. Due to a serious illness there are foods I can longer tolerate and the owner and his staff make every effort to make sure my allergies/intolerances are catered for even going so far on one occasion as to ring an off duty member of staff to determine whether an item included an ingredient that impacted on me. It is lovely to find somewhere to eat you can trust. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed and the coffee is delicious.

Visited again today and tried the new salad bowl, delicious fresh salad served with crab and prawn with mayo and dill. Salads can be served with any of the sandwich fillings which are all made fresh on the premises. The sticky toffee loaf is a must try and the coffee is the best in Bolton.

Friday is Pie Day. Excellent service and food and the coffees are good as well. Reasonably priced as well. Will be back again and again and not just on Fridays. 😃

I visited here last week with a few family members, the staff knew exactly what was in everything as one of us has severe allergy’s. The homemade cakes and scones are delicious and the tea cups are a lovely addition to the already great atmosphere. I definitely recommend a quick visit.

Initially felt sandwich prices looked a little bit on the expensive side but when they arrived they were very fresh, had plenty of filling and had a nice side salad. I met up with my niece for breakfast on Wednesday this week. We arrived and were looked after by a friendly, gentle spoken man who guided us through the menu and showed us to our table by the window. This was a great place to sit - we could watch the guide dogs being trained and enjoy the winter sunshine.The food we ordered was simple and elegantly presented - potato cake with black pudding. The portion appeared small, but was just right for breakfast. The pot of tea came with an egg timer so that I could know when the tea was brewed. Attention to detail was noticeable. The Coffee Shop filled up very quickly. I am glad that we got there when we did. A popular place for people to meet and eat. I will be back to explore other parts of the menu and enjoy the friendly service.

We've been here twice and the food is delicious, over and above any other cafe we've tried in Bolton - the meatballs on the specials board were amazing, so flavoursome and served with plenty of sides. Good coffee as well. We haven't tried the cakes but will be back to do so!The staff are very friendly and the service is great, the place has a good atmosphere. It's not the cheapest but you get what you pay for!

Ive visted this cafe a few times and always have treated well by staff. However, today, im saddened to say i was made to feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome by the man who took my order, who i presume to be the proprietor. At first, i assumed it was just myself that he had a problem with as I had 2 young children with me. They were extremely well behaved but he eyed them with suspiscion from the start. However, i then noticed that he was also brusque with another customer who came in. I really felt like his customers were just a nuisance to him. He was also snappy with his very pleasant member of staff. Hopefully he was just having an off day, but I will think twice before coming again. Sorry

Went here recently when visiting friends. Lovely environment and absolutely stunning food. Quite expensive, £25 for two sandwiches and hot drinks! I would come again as a lovely hidden gem but probably not too frequently!

Went here while waiting to drop my son off for his theory driving test and we didn't fancy a chips and burger kind of place so we found this. Friendly staff and service was good. Food was really good too although I found it a bit pricey, 2 toasties and one coffee was just under £19. Good food though.
