We went this lovely cafe very early in the morning to have breakfast in our last day at Edinburgh. We had a great Mediterrean breakfast which was very fresh and tasty and they also served us their cake as a favor which was very kind of them. Also I think everybody should try their “magic” tea :) Especially Turkish people would love it for sure. We definitely go again if we travel again to Edinburgh..

Great atmosphere and even greater food!

The girl who served us was very friendly and attentive. A good place if you want to have a coffee near the Grassmarket. We ordered a Latte (£3.30, a bit expensive but quite large). Very nice people.

Dropped in for breakfast, hubby had Scottish and I had the Simple ( just nice size for me). Both well cooked and nice quality, very good service from lady. Nice atmosphere and scottish music over the speakers. Toilet was pristine - nice to see. Reasonable prices. Great, thank you!

Super friendly stuff and delicious food.

Super nice place, food was very tasty and worth the money. Service was good and the employees were nice. There are many nice decorations which makes the atmosphere very pleasant. The chocolate milk had a star on it which was really cute and the bagel was tasty and filling.

Near the grassmarket, it is a small but very comfortable cafe. I had a bagel with egg and bacon that was very very good. The cappuccino had a lot of foam and a little amount of coffee but it was also very good. The best thing is that they took very little time to serve me and that they treated me very well. Pretty good price for being so central (11 pounds) The only bad thing: the extraction of odors: my clothes were impregnated. Still I recommend it!

Stopped here for breakfast this morning - did not disappoint! Waiting staff are lovely and service was quick even though it was busy, very attentive! Place was very clean and well kept. The breakfast was amazing - we both had the full Scottish and it was just what we needed; very tasty. Highly recommend.

Good place for breakfast. A decent menu and friendly staff. The only point that stopped it being 5 stars is bringing to sandwiches, one veggie and meat on the same plate. Seems a bit of an obvious mistake but other than that...

First place my (now) husband and I grabbed a coffee at when we first met. Now when we visit his family, the Coffee Mill is our first stop for breakfast and lattes straight from the airport! Very quaint and lovely staff!

Perfect place to have a proper breakfast before going to Edinburg castle!! They have a huge variety and very fair prices. Also, as it is very close to the monument, I highly recommend start your morning there

Nos topamos con este pequeño café cuando estábamos dando un paseo por nuestra primera vez en Edimburgo. Vinimos aquí el sábado y también el domingo antes de salir. El desayuno era absolutamente irreal. La encantadora chica que nos sirvió (no pedimos su nombre lo siento! ) era el servidor más agradable e incluso los chefs eran tan acogedores. No nos ha gustado un lugar como este en mucho tiempo. ¡Si viviéramos allí, estaríamos allí todos los días!

Lovely cozy and great food. What else you need? Servers were really nice and welcoming and our breakfast was wonderful and our coffees were perfectly foamy. A delight of a place. Also, breakfast without time restrictions is a wonderful idea.

A cup of hot water for 2.9pounds. That’s ridiculous

The service attitude of this store is very bad. My friend ordered three cups of hot water and was charged 2.9 pounds per cup. When they tried to argue, the store responded, "We gave you tea but no tea bags." This is very unreasonable. They also recorded them at the end of the argument. They also verbally humiliated them, saying that their English was not good and they should go back to China, and other very racist things

Pricy with poor cust service. Was shocked when I saw how their staff treated non English speaking tourists the other day. Terrible.

My absolutely favorite breakfast spot in Edinburgh! Just writing this review makes me long for their delicious Full Scottish Breakfast (highly recommend!). The friendliness and warmth of the staff makes me feel welcomed and at ease. Even when this charming and cozy restaurant is full and busy, I still feel well tended to and appreciate the calmness and professionalism of the waiters. I also enjoy the Scottish touches -- like receiving a serving of haggis with the a miniature Scottish flag proudly placed in the center of the iconic dish. Will definitely return!

Fantastic place to get authentic British food (the Scottish breakfast is a pumped version of the English breakfast - highly recommend). Staff is very friendly and cafe is cozy!

Such a cheerful, thoughtful and kind place, plus excellent food and service. Great coffees, good choices for dietary restrictions, home style, delicious and good value for money! Eclectic decor, such a breath of fresh air after too many motorway services and multinational brands. The staff were delightful, friendly and sincerely hospitable. I would return in a heartbeat. I wish it were my local, because they treated each customer like they were.

We had breakfast on our first day of our stay in Edinburgh and it was so good that we returned for more the next 2 days. All the staff were so friendly and chatty which was so lovely to see. Although it was very busy they still had time for you. Running a business like this, they deserve every success. Thanks very much.

This is the third time we visit Edinburgh, but The Coffee Mill was probably the best discovery we made on this stay! Planning at first to take our breakfast in another place we already knew, we tried The Coffee Mill without knowing about it previously and we weren't disappointed. The place is not big but comfy and warm. The open kitchen allows us to share a bit of the kitchen's life. There is A LOT of diverse choice in the menu, so we were able to try several dishes during our stay. The prices are reasonable, the food tasty and my oh my, the portions are definitely generous. But most of all, I can't compliment enough the staff, friendly, warm, welcoming, willing to chat and joke and to accommodate you as best as possible. I wasn't able to eat as much or as quickly as I wanted to and they always provided me solutions and reassurance. We've tried once and we ended up eating there 3 times in our 4 days stay. Thank you all, you made these breakfast some of our best moments from this stay!. We will definitely come back

Flawless! We chose Coffee Mill Cafe for its proximity to our Airbnb, and thanks to Google reviews, and we were delighted! If you are looking for the ideal place for a real “Scottish breakfast”, go for it with your eyes closed. For Frenchies who prefer sweet breakfasts, they also have a wide choice, including homemade cakes. Big plus for the service, the waitresses were very attentive and attentive. (For example, my choice of dish included balsamic vinegar, and the waitress pointed this out to me when ordering).

Scrambled eggs and toast were great with a really hot Soy Latte! We were very lucky to get a table for two, 10min later full.

The breakfast was delicious, affordable and the staff was extremely friendly... When my pregnant wife asked me to have solid scrambled eggs without any liquid left in them, they took the plate with them and heated the scrambled eggs for a while... Without any major problems.. Thank you for that

Very nice and cozy place Food is very nice Staff is amazing, it was my first visit to Edinburgh, me and my friends were having a bad first night, unable to get to the flat we booked, we went there to wait for agency reply and when we told them what happened to us, they took extra care of us and kept the cafe open until we got a reply and could finally get to the flat there was two lovely ladies working that night and they were really kind, if I ever go back to Edinburgh I will definitely visit this cafe again.

Note: if you go too early, some items will not be available! We were limited to the Breakfast and Morning Rolls sections - the wraps and paninis were unfortunately not available at the time we went. A very cosy cafe for breakfast / brunch. They serve all kinds of cafe food that will fill your tummy for the day. Ambience was great as well! The full Scottish breakfast was delightful - very flavourful and generous portion sizes. The haggis in particular was very tasty! The morning roll was actually just a bun with fillings, which we thought the name was a little misleading. Great brunch option as well for smaller eaters, as the ingredients are probably similar to those used in the full breakfast menu. Smoothie was also very refreshing and enjoyable.

We really liked this place! Highly Great food and great service. For me, 5 stars would be "top drawer first class gourmet". This wasn't that, But it was excellent nonetheless. Highly recommend!

I went here for breakfast solo and it was very tasty! So many delicious options to choose from. I got the Full British Breakfast and had two cappuccinos. The coffee is excellent as well! Very charming cafe. The staff are friendly and gave me some great tips for navigating the city and free things to check out. I wish I had found out about it sooner in my trip to eat breakfast there again.

It was a good choice going to the Coffee Mill Cafe. Food was tasty and reasonably priced, milk alternatives were available and free water waiting on the table. The highlight though was my waitress - very friendly, attendive and a great help getting some orientation at the Fringe Festival. The show she recommended was great!

Super breakfast spot at family run restaurant. Staff very kind and friendly while the food was all excellent. Returned 3 times over 3 day stay in Edinburgh. Had porridge, scones, and scrambled eggs with bacon. All three were done perfectly and tasted great. When in Edinburgh grassmarket will be returning.

Visisted here during the fringe - two adults and child. The staff were so helpful and really looked after us and everyone who came in. Brilliant - no fried food - hurrah - good quality, good variety, good choices. Will remember this place for next visit to Edinburgh. It's a gem.
