Great cappuccino. Been busy but great service both times I've been. Coffee has a nice taste and is reasonably priced. They do take away as well as sitting in.

Yummy cakes - delicious food - cheery welcome and value for money! What’s not to like? Personal favourite is coffee cake and sweet and sour chicken not necessarily eaten in that order. Toasties are served with coleslaw and side salad and are moreish!

The staff are friendly. 12 tables nicely spaced out and sanitised. Breakfast was perfect size, local sourced items, hot and speedy service. £7.50 couldn't fault it.

My wife and I have visited this cafe that sits inside one of the Hatfields stores in Stanway a number times now which I guess us a recommendation in itself. The breakfasts are good and the prices are reasonable. The standard of service is OK, I sometimes wonder how it takes the staff so long to do basic things and whether that is part of the training as they are all equally slow at everything. Also slightly odd sitting in the middle of a furniture shop. Worth a visit for a reasonable breakfast if you are in the area.

Set within the Hatfield Clearance Store, next to the Co-op and petrol station, this privately-run small cafeteria is a gem. Small menu but all homemade fare with very friendly service by owner and her girls. Quick service with newspapers provided. All-day breakfast is a must along with bread pudding, or similar. Seats around 30-40 people - toilets nearby and large carpark.

We stopped at the crown on our way back from Colchester for a drink asked on the off chance if there was a table for two available which there was sat outside in the sun and had a drink until service started the staff and waitresses were all very helpful and friendly. We both had the chicken livers in masala cream sauce to start followed by the Dover sole and a trio of lamb which were all excellent and not expensive well worth a visit.

Delicious food, lots of options and reasonably priced. Had the hash stack which was yummy and apparently the scrambled egg was the best my aunt had ever had! Thank you. Great for milk allergies too as most items are vegan.

Stayed on Mersea Island for a few days with friends for birthday celebration and was looking for somewhere to go for afternoon tea. Found The Gilt Rooms on Tripadvisor and decided to give it a go. We had to book for the afternoon tea but wow so worth it. Everything from the freshly made sandwiches to the warm fresh out of the oven scones and home bakes cakes (chocolate eclair, victoria sandwich, lemon drizzle and choc brownie were amazing. All washed down with a perfectly chilled glass of prosecco and lashings of tea or coffee. It was the absolute best afternoon tea I've ever had and have had a few. Will definitely visit again when there.
