We came here on passing, we had limited time so we’re advised that the fish dishes would take least amount of time to cook, great food 😊

Cod and Fish: Fish was full of bones, tasted out of date and was watery inside. Batter was absolutely soaked in grease and overcooked and there was a disgusting layer of grease between the fish and batter. Chips were basically uneatable. The whole thing tasted like it was cooked in dirty oil. I'm not a picky eater but by jesus I took 1 chip and two bites of the fish and left the rest. If you'd ask anyone that knows me, that is UNHEARD of. Kids Burger and Chip: Burger was eatable, chips were the same as what I got though. Absolutely soaked to the core in grease, overcooked and just uneatable. Service: The lady who served me was lovely. Even the guy who cooked the food was very nice. Doesn't make up for absolutely awful attempt at trying to serve eatable food.

Fish & chips is obviously the restaurant's specialty, and what most customers order. The batter was both tasty and crispy, and the chips were both hot and hand cut. Balance between batter and fish was perfect, but the fish (cod) was a little bland. The place was very busy, but the staff were effective and friendly, and the food was served very quickly. Prices are cheap.

We tried fish and chips across the British Isles and this was our favorite! Also enjoyed the steak sandwich. Huge portions, fair price, fast service, great taste!

Made a visit here recently while in Bushmills. Upon being peckish we come to this eatery and with the second our food come to the table we weren’t happy. Firstly the milk given for the tea was clearly past its sell by date, the food was very hard the only reason I’ve gave a extra mark is for the fact the establishment was spotless and a nice interior. Major improvements would be needed before I consider coming back.

This place is terrible. I walked in with great expectations given the nice decor. But, once my food was set down, I went to put my fork into the batter on the fish and it shattered into pieces. The fish was most definitely not fresh and horrible rubbery and chewy. Completely inedible. Avoid!

Ordered a Hawaiian Burger not having had one for years. Definitely didn't come with coleslaw. Other than a piece of pineapple on it there was nothing different about this to a regular burger. Chips were soso. Only reason to go here was a family member needed gluten free otherwise would have gone to another one down the street who I know can make a good burger. Don't make the same mistake and order from here.

Bushmills is busy, so we found it difficult to find somewhere to book dinner. The French Rooms recommended the Cod's Way, and we had a great meal. Fish and chips and a pizza. Generous portions and friendly staff. They take walk-ins, which so great when the restaurants are all fully booked. They serve breakfast as well.

Visited on 2 nights to try different items of their new menu, which includes chilli chicken pasta, mussels, steak sandwich and more. Very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend

we had our lunch here today. We both had fish and chips. Massive piece of fish, lots of chips, good crispy batter. Basic place, though quite stylish. The young girl working there today was very good, friendly and helpful.

Fantastic gluten free fish and chips available @ theCodsWay. Staff were very helpful and knew their stuff... No reactions post meal which can often happen for me as I'm a very sensitive coeliac. Options include delivery or collection for Covid safety. Highly recommended 👍

We were all hungry and just looking for a place to stop and eat, and this was one of the few in the near vicinity of where we were able to find a parking spot. It was rather disappointing -- the food was mediocre and very greasy, and the place itself wasn't very clean (not only the food was greasy!). The prices were also quite high.

Up on holiday we booked our meal online through a cumbersome website flip dish on collection at the selected time everything was stone cold and had obviously been waiting a while. On checking order a can of coke was misssing and an extra garlic mayo dip wasn't there. Prices were too high at over £20 for two people. The food itself was average, a bit greasy but we had to reheat so that might account for a bit of it.

How does this Chippy only have a 3-star rating? It was excellent! We were a small group, so we had a selection of meals...everything was prepared very well and tased excellent. I didn’t necessarily expect that in a tourist-destination town, but that’s what we got....

Called in today as the place looked OK. I really fancied fish and chips from a proper chippy. Ordered fish supper and a child’s burger without really thinking.... big mistake! £15 lighter for a less than average take away meal. Won’t be back obviously.

Just stopped for lunch when passing through bushmills, there are 3 chippys beside each other so we chose this one randomly. So glad we did, beautiful fish and chips, quirky little eatery, on the expensive side I thought but would definitely visit again anyway :)

The best fish we've had in a long time! The place is spotless and the restrooms excellent, the staff are warm and welcoming , very helpful and friendly, definitely the best chippy for miles.

We dropped in the other day on Murat's Causeway and Antrim Coast Tour and had a real nice fish and chip lunch. Everything was fresh and tasty and good value.

Got into town as they were closing and they could have turned us away but didn't. Nice family run restaurant. The fish and chips were very good.

I note that other reviewers have been unimpressed with the Cod's Way fish but I can certainly recommend their chips...rough cut, great size, non-greasy and with an Olympic class crunch. My pastie tasted like the pasties of my youth but was half the size.

Visited after the lunchtime rush, and was disappointed. Now I love a crunchy chip but nearly breaking a tooth is just too far. Burgers were very basic, iceberg lettuce doesn’t equal salad. Would not return

Everything was frazzled. The £8 fry was eatable but the eggs were over cooked with solid yolks, the soda bread could have damaged teeth, the bacon however was perfect. In fairness it was very busy, but I’ll not risk it again.

Expected better from a seaside town with 3 chip shops! Especially for £10+ The fish supper came with a tiny fillet, on eating I found the tail end full of bones. The table sauces were watered down. Haven’t tried the competition but I’m guessing it’s better than this!

If you’re popping into town for the Bushmills tour, make sure you wander down the road to the Cod’s Way An authentic fish & chip shop with plenty of alternative choices as well. Not fancy, but plain good food.

Our family enjoyed the fish and chips along with the chili cheese chips. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Lovely location there in the middle of town. Highly recommend!

Been here a few time and we keep coming back. Food the too notch exp there cod fingers, not friend has pizza it looked amazing. After we enjoyed a coffee and people watched. The staff where fantastic and were so friendly and catering towards us.

We had lunch on the weekend during the Whiskey and Salmon Festival. The chips were the best I’ve had in the UK!

£29 for 4 meals (2 adults, 2 kids) in a chip shop. Kids didn't finish their chips (unheard of) and my burger was extremely poor quality, something I think might have once been meat in a dry bun with a bit of limp lettuce. Have had better quality burger and chips for less money from a mobile food van. Go elsewhere!

Stopped here for a quick dinner. We weren't disappointed. We both had the fish and chips. It was very good. The meal was right about 20GBP. The dining area was basically a fast food table and chairs. You order at the counter and they bring it to you.

Order a double decker cheese burger with a lot of things on and got a burger with cheese nothing else cause we haven‘t order the other ingredients... when we asked the girl about it she looked at us like we were retards. The chips was also very bad, couldn’t even eat then. Go somewhere else cause this place is really bad!

We were torn as to which Chippy to choose given the number of Chippy's in Bushmills. The clever name and good outside decor of this won us over. We actually asked the man at the till which one would be the best to go to and he said 'oh you wouldn't eat a thing out of here'. We all laughed and foolishly we proceeded to order but later wondered if he was actually being serious.

On driving through Bushmills we saw this 'new chippie' and decided to give it a try. I'm sorry we stopped as it was the longest wait for food I've ever experienced. Our order was a pizza and fish supper with 2 teas. I was losing the will to wait by the time it arrived, and when it did we were ravenous. The fish was iffy, but the chips were very good, but I've never seen a pizza with thinly sliced salad tomato on it before, and the pineapple was tasteless. At a cost of £24.40 all the food was definitely overpriced. I was asked if I wanted a box to take home the remainder of the pizza, but I declined as it wasn't very nice. Suffice to say we won't be back.

Greasy fried food. Go somewhere else. Worst cod I have had. Worse chips I have had. Peas were horrible. My sister had terrible sausage too.

I ordered lasagne. Not entirely sure what I got! Mince meat and a lump of what I assume was cheese on top. All cremated into a solid brick. Revolting.

We thought we'd try this establishment on our stay in Bushmills. My partner and I order our supper and decided to sit in. I had chips, peas and gravy. This was served in a dessert bowl all lumped together the pinnacle being the gravy slopped on the top that was so thick it was like blomange. Thick in consistency with a thicker skin than an elephant. My partner had cod and chips. I use the word cod liberally as you were hard pressed to find it amongst the thickness of the batter. The chips I feel had been cooking all day. Ideally if possibly starve rather than eat here.

We came to visit the giants causeway and we were dying for a spot of lunch and we saw the cods way and it looked lovely from outside but wish I could say the same about the staff that worked there

It's very close to The Giant's Causeway, so the name The Cod's is very clever. But don't expect more than a cute name. The by the name we thought we would have a variety of fish options. But, no. Just a single cod filet, deep fried. The only flavor the fish had was the greasy oil it was fried in. It did not taste like fish. I recommend trying one of the half dozen other fish and chips establishments on the block.

We both had the fish supper. I know it’s a Chipper but for hours later I could felel the greasy food floating around in my stomach.it wasn’t nice.

Not at all sure why the previous few reviews are so poor. We liked the fish and chips here so much that we called back on another occasion during our short stay in Bushmills. On both occasions the batter was crispy and light and the chips were also cooked to perfection. Simple food, but executed very well and by friendly staff.

I didn't think the food was great we called here out off the other chip Shops as it looked well from outside and seemed busy, I had lasagne and chips and hubby had a chicken burger. the chips were not great felt like I got end of the bag and my husband didn't enjoy his burger the pasta in lasagne was hard and it was so dry. would not go back im afraid.

Chip were stale and the pizza was defrosted. If your looking for food while hungry, go anywhere else but this place. It looks half decent looking from the outside in but in reality its absolutesly terrible.

We called in here as a large group for some late lunch after walking around the Giant’s Causeway. Although there was some confusion with the initial orders the food was basic - but hit and tasty. It has to be said though that the chips were truly superb.

We were so hungry after our tour in Northern Ireland when we arrived at this restaurant. Our fish&chips; was so great, the service was quick and the coffee was tasty also. All these for an affordable price.

We went here just before Bushmills tour. Flood was disappointing. The fish was large but full of bones and greasy tasting. The chips were fair. We were not at all impressed.

Myself and my wife went in for fish and chips and peas , it was very tasty.very big portion.plus the garlic and curry sauce were lovely as well.staff were ok. I would recommend you go in and try the fish and chips.

Recently diagnosed with coeliac disease all gluten has been cut out of my diet. My partner & I were in Bushmills for the weekend & she checked to see if any chippies served gluten free food, The Cod’s Way came up trumps. So I was looking forward to a fish supper, the reality however turned out to be they had no gluten free flour & I wasn’t able to have the fish I’d been hoping for...very disappointing.......

..not bad. But also not good. Fish could use a little bit more salt and pepper before frying it off. Chips were totally fine. I've had the homemade cod fishfingers with chips and cheese. As mentioned, chips were totally fine. Good flavor, not much salt (this is my opinion - I do not use much salt) and the cheese melted finely.

The atmosphere of this fish and chips joint makes up slightly for the lack lustre food. It’s nicely decorated, but the fish is just ok. There are lots of options on the menu for anyone looking for more than just cod. I had the cod dinner which comes with fries and peas. The peas had a funny taste, but the rest was decent. My friend asked for a chicken wrap but received a fish wrap. They fixed their error, but she had to wait longer for her meal.

We stopped here on a whim for dinner around 6pm, because the place we originally were going to eat at had too long of a wait. The food wasn't terrible, but wasn't anything to write home about. I had the fish and chips - the breading on the fish was nice and crisp, but overall just seemed bland. The worst part was the staff seemed quite miserable and acted like we were a major bother. Made me wonder if they actually wanted our business or if they'd have been just as happy if we turned around and left.

My wife and I had a short time to grab a bite to eat for dinner as we headed to Donegal. We were served very quickly and I enjoyed the cod dinner while my wife enjoyed a Hawaiian burger (in Ireland)!

Came in here on my own as my friends had already eaten, great place, clean, friendly & very reasonable, take away prices but can sit in. I had scampi & chips which were lovely.

Wir kamen nach einem langen Tag durch den Ort geschlendert, auf der Suche nach etwas zu essen und gelangten zu diesem Restaurant, weil es tatsächlich gut besucht war, was häufig auch nicht all zu schlechte Qualität schließen lässt. Wir haben hier allerdings leider das mit Abstand schlechteste Fish and Chips serviert bekommen. Die Panade war so hart, dass man sie nicht schneiden konnte. Der Fisch darin war total trocken und kaputt fritiert. Selbst die Fritten waren nicht besonders lecker. Die Erbsen waren matschig und leicht sauer. Dazu gab es noch trockenes Toastbrot mit etwas Butter und Tee. Der Tee war lecker, das muss man ihnen lassen. Leider viel zu viel Geld für fürchterliches Essen, wir kommen nicht wieder.

Huge plates of food. Option to sit in. Service is professional and extremely friendly. Eat -in section is clean and nicely decorated. Food is given on proper plates with proper knives and forks. Extensive menu and yummy food. Would highly recommend.

The place looked nice from the outside, but when we got in the personnel was kinnda rude. Both pizzas were way over baked, actually hard as a rock. We didn't try the other food, but would definitely recommend to avoid pizza.

Feeling a little peckish my son and I decided to venture in to this establishment which was very clean, busy and had pleasing decor. The chips were the best I've had in a considerable time. Toilets were spacious and are worthy of an award. Access for disabled persons is excellent.

De bediening in deze snackbar is alles behalve aardig en uitnodigend. Alles gebeurt met grote tegenzin. Daarnaast werden wij meerder malen uitgelachen door het personeel. Ze maakte grappen over ons en wezen ons na. Absoluut niet fijn!!! Wij komen hier nooit meer terug!

Takeaway of fish, chips and onion rings. Seems like a nice little spot to sit in , nice bright decor. Fish delicious as we're onion rings. Chips bit overdone and dry but overall pleased.

Wir haben hier die mit Abstand schlechtesten Fish&chips; serviert bekommen. Schade, denn der Laden schaut auf den ersten Blick ganz vernünftig aus.

Service was confused about each order. Didn’t know who ordered what, or what table to take it to. Didn’t really care if they got it correct either. And it wasn’t just for our table.

Nous y sommes allées à deux reprises ou nous avons choisies un fish and chips et pizza, le lendemain pizza et burger. Tout est généreux, bons, frais et le prix est très raisonnable. 5, 25 £ la pizza grande taille, 5,25 £ le burger double.

After a long afternoon on the Causeway we just wanted something quick and easy and we were not disappointed. As it was BYO, we picked up a nicely priced wine at Centro nearby and ordered our meals. Lots of locals there so this was a good sign. Meals came quickly and the foam cups for our white wine kept it cool. A nice modern fit out with helpful staff and football on several screens made our short stay a success..

stopped enroute from the Giants Causeway and glad we did - we stopped expecting bog standard fish and chips and cos my partner is a coeliac he thought he'd had to get stuck with a salad or jacket potato - but lo and behold they offered gluten free fish and chips - unlike most fish and chip places where they change the oil once a week or so, the Cods Way have a dedicated fryer for gluten free everyday - and the food was fabulous, the restaurant was busy for a tues every evening

Had been wanting to try real fish&chips; as soon as we arrived in Ireland and this place did not disappoint. The portions are large and the prices are competitive. All of the food was made fresh and served hot. Give it a try!!!

Chicken was good. Other than that, this place ruined our evening. No clean tables in size, we chose to sit outside. The next table over had some teenage the boys with appropriate loud rap music blaring. I mean really loud, very very vulgar. We asked them to turn it down and it just got worse.

Hope the food is better than the server as she a total misery .

Great Fish and Chips. Easily one of the best one the Causeway Coast. Spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated. Friendly staff and fantastic service. A big thumbs up.

OK it’s a fish and chip shop so I expected fish and chips - but not one item on the menu that’s not dipped in thick batter.

My friends and I decided to eat here while out sightseeing for the day. I had a fish supper, one had the chicken fillet burger and the other just ate chips. We got our food and before we even touched it we knew it was not going to be good. It was ALL extremely over cooked, even the fillet burger was almost black. It was obvious also that the oil needed to be changed badly as there was black burnt bits stuck to our chips. The taste was awful and none of us was able to eat much at all. All three of us were sick the next day. I would not eat here again and would hope that they clean the oil at least and stop over cooking the food. I used to manage a fish and chip cafe so I know what I’m talking about.
