Ordered food and paid thought it was a bit overpriced. Good arrived at our table piping hot and the quality was the best chips and fish I have ever had . Me and my two sons both admitted that the food was of the greatest standard and was definitely well worth paying that little extra. Servings were plentiful and food was so fresh and tasty will definitely be back.

Fish was delicious, but unfortunately the chips were not good, lots of black and hard ones, also, very small helpings.

I came into this restaurant twice because there are not too many options in Bushmill. . I ordered a 4 oz cheese burger from an elderly server. I waited for almost 10 - 15 min, so I went to inquire about it. Customers ordered after me already got their large orders. The same old lady said to wait, so I went back to the table. 10 minutes later, I went back up and ask and another lady asked me what did I ordered and did I pay for it. Later they found they missed my order, so the cook slapped a meat patty on a bun and hand to me within seconds. Must have been sitting there for ages. As a tourist, it was not a good experience in Bushmill. Will never return to this town and this restaurant.

Excellent. Great chips, tasty fish. Large portions and well cooked- not greasy! The new premises would be super (or supper) for a sit-in with friends.

Great traditional fish and chips with large portions and great service. Bushmills has a number of Fish and Chip shops and the Hip Chip is one of the best.

The chips purchased this evening were the WORST chips I have ever tasted. If they were fresh I will be amazed. Hard, dry, dark and hours old. They were expensive . The portion was questionable too. How you can justify the price to the portion size defies mathematics.The best part of my chip butty was the bread. I live in London and pay London prices and I was mugged off in Northern Ireland. Perhaps we were given sloppy leftovers due to our accent

Cool name, bad food. Couldn’t take more than one bit out of my burger, all I could taste was onions burnt meat and some undefinable rank taste. Chips very greasy and only ok for 2 or 3 bits. Whatever you do, go get food somewhere else. But some bread in the supermarket and make your own sandwich if you have too. Had to throw away the hip chips food. Seems to be popular with a lot of people but three pints definitely weren’t enough to make this food eatable.

my family and I have been going to the hip chip for years and recently the food has been horrible. We aren’t very impressed as we always look forward to getting a chippy with yourselves. We have never normally had a problem with the food but recently it’s been awful!😡

Missing chip from order. Cod supper fish or black greasy batter not fully cooked. Thick glarry batter the shape of fish with little fish content. Nothing crispy about it. Gave the cod supper back to the very nice driver as well as the chip he delivered short from my order to return to the chippy owner who cooked the cod supper. Owner said there was nothing wrong with the cod supper (see photos) he cooked. Refused to refund. Had good suppers previously (might depend whos cooking them, could be hit or miss) No gimmicks like "Award winning fish suppers" used back in the day to sell them. All word of mouth and customers were respected for their custom. If owner had been reasonable I may not have wrote this review.

We ordered 2 steak burgers with onions and bacon but there were no bacon but it states it on the receipt

Not much to say really, food was cold, and we only walked 2mins to get to where we were eating it so I was a little confused about that. We stayed the entire time after ordering as well so it's not like we saw our food sitting for ages before it was handed to us. Service was as what to be expected from a counter service chippy, I like that though, take the order and move on 👍🏼

For a small town there was plenty of choice in terms of take sways. All however had mediocre reviews on TA We chose the hip as it had the biggest queue The fish and chips were just about ok . The place was clean and staff friendly bit on the pricey side too for what you get

I had the cheeseburger, someone needs to teach them how to cook a cheeseburger. Terrible.

Tried to do an online order. Soon as I started I realised it was set up for collection and not delivery. I phoned them immediately to correct the order and the delivery time but they said they had started to cook rhe fish and it would be ready right away. Then they said that delivery would take about half an hour. As a result our fish and chips were delivered and both the fish and the chips were really soggy. Would not recommend as food not great and no flexibility with cooking or delivery time.

We are international travellers who have returned to Bushmills a second time because we love it so much. Unfortunately, our experience at The Hip Chip tonight has left us unimpressed. The poor experience started with the ordering process. The little redhead with the massive eyelashes clearly loves her job… NOT!!! She was so rude and she had a sour look on her face the whole time we were there. We ordered burgers and she asked what I wanted on it without giving any options. When I asked for clarification, she just repeated “what do you want on it?” I requested lettuce. When my husband ordered his burger, he wasn’t even asked. When I saw they had constructed his burger with only the mince pattie I asked for salad to be added. The other eyelashed girl asked why we hadn’t asked for salad. I explained that we hadn’t been offered it. She added lettuce, tomato and onion. My burger and chips were put in the box and we waited at least 5 minutes before my husband’s burger and chips were packed. This meant that by the time I got my burger and chips, they were luke warm.

I have been getting out of this chippy for years when visiting Bushmills or Portballintrae. Never disappoints. Even when the place is packed too the door with people.

nearly 2 hours for a food delivery and there was a missing item, it was slightly warm when i got it delivery driver swore at me. The business owner was rude on the phone then told me to take my business elsewhere.

Absolute disgrace of a hole. Never get an order right and 90% of the time cold. Delivery driver one of the most ignorant people to work with the public (barring the owner). When you ring to tell them about wrong/missing orders the owner gives you a mouthful of cheek then shouts “you’re barred” and hangs up on you. Concentrate more on the food the customers are paying for and less on trying to make yourself look like some sort of local “celeb”. Disgusted wouldn’t be the word! And for the record I NEVER leave bad reviews for anywhere, normally either leave good reviews or not at all.

International travellers and so ordered chicken and Hawaiian burgers , Hawaiian burger dry and hard,chicken burger was also dry Both tasteless. Told order ready so Asked if Hawaiian burger had specific item and it was opened and slapped into the bag with attitude. Burgers are overpriced and staff couldn't care less about why they are supposed to be there. They need to learn how these items should be cooked and prepared. Plenty of other great takeaway shops close by as we found out. It's good food fast,Not Fast food !

Got fish and chips. Fish mostly batter and very dry. Peas tasteless. Chicken burger not cooked in middle. Chips fine. For what I paid not very enjoyable.

Have been a customer for years, and the food is always good, but the delivery service is not a success, consistently had missing items on multiple deliveries.

Fish dry batter so hard .. chips bland .. didn’t taste like freshly cooked.. staff so abrupt ,, wouldn’t return.. try chip shop across road next time

Waited a short while, however the portion sizes were amazing, the fish was so fresh and the batter was impeccable. 10/10

Ordered a chicken burger which wasn't cooked inside but burnt to a crisp on the outside. Kids chicken nugget meal was also burnt to a crisp uneatable. Would not recommend. Very expensive too

Best fish and chips I've ever had!

Food was fantastic, couldn’t fault. Chips were superbly done. But when you pay for 5x dips and zero get delivered, it is frustrating and hence my 3/5 review.

The food came fast. The fish was crispy and not dry. The chips were well seasoned. My boyfriend and I shared a portion and were super satisfied! In total we paid 13.50

Grabbed some fish and chips from the oldest chipper in Bushmills. It's all counter service and no place to sit, so order and go. Service is ok, it's just counter service, so not much to expect there. Fish was ok, not perfectly crispy, but still good. Chips were nicely seasoned with salt and vinegar.

Really poor. Was the only place delivering which is why we used it. Totally tasteless, small portions, expensive and everything seemed frozen. Burger, chicken burger, and pizza all the signs of frozen as zero taste from them, chips seemed old and very few of them. Definitely won’t order again. Would rather take the time to walk into Bushmills and go somewhere better.

Great chips. But somewhat marred by whilst sitting waiting for 10 mins for my order (that's not a problem) the employee who took my order headed out the back for new order books and then moments later was carrying food (chicken nuggets?) in her bare hands. I didn't see her wash her hands, but I really hope that she did before and after touching the food.

Absolutely disgusting. Burnt batter burger, kebab more mayo than kebab, fresh fish so over cooked that there was no fish left in it. Absolutely rank.

I phoned up the chippy to enquire about a kids meal, I was hung up un abruptly after a rude comment was made by the employee down the phone. I then proceeded to go down in person to ask the question and was shouted at in-front of costumers. Very rude and unprofessional wont be back.

Went in to collect my food and the employees were gossiping about the customers and giving dirty looks making everyone feeling uncomfortable. Terrible service. Employees should NOT be acting this way. Also got pink chicken and didn’t get my full order !

He asked for a fish, two taco chips, small chip and a curry dip, this came to £28, had I been there I would’ve questioned it but my husband didn't query it and came on home. The portions were appalling, taco chips were half full not even a proper portion and they had given him a tiny portion of curry chip not a small chip and dip. Total disgrace, considering the price of their food and i certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone!!!

Overpriced and tasteless....was waiting nearly 40 minutes after being told it would only take 20 minutes...they didn't like the fact I pointed this out and other customers heard me, eventually when I did get my food it wasn't worth the money and they gave me the smallest portion of chips.. obviously because I annoyed them....they are only busy because it's the only chipper for miles around...no customer service skills at all..poor food and rude staff.

Not impressed with the cheeseburger I got, but I guess I should had tried the fish at a fish and chips place. We had a bit of a wait but it was a public holiday and many other places were closed.

Ordered through the app and collected about 15 minutes later. Food was great crispy batter on the cod, fish was cooked perfectly nice a moist! Chips were also great!

We particularly travelled to Bushmills to try this award winning chippy and came away a little disappointed. Burger very disappointing wouldn't order again. The battered cod and chips were very nice but the portion of chips was very scimpy for price paid. The staff didn't seem very happy but still provided a good service and were very pleasant with customers.

Well if your looking for old and traditional in the sense of tasteless and bland you’ve come to the perfect place, batter was definitely not seasoned even with a pinch of salt ( maybe to cut corners and save money ), server was slightly rude but it’s a chippy so what would you expect, also requested a Hawaiian burger and received the beef burger that had the same moisture level as the gravel outside of it, not the best place for the price would have rather have gone across the road.

I flashed back to the 1990s when I took summer college courses in England and survived off of massive-sized fish and chips meals from a simple and cheap takeaway spot. This was very comparative: Massive portions, quick friendly service and reasonable prices.

We ordered via the app and got 20% off our purchase. There was a lot of food, more than we could manage so worth ordering one less meal than you need! Fair quality and friendly service but still expensive despite the discount.

Having arrived late at Ballyness Caravan site we were told that Hip Chip offered a delivery service which we decided to take up. 2 fish & chips ordered and 20 minutes later they arrived piping hot. The quality was top notch with crunchy batter, crunchy...

Ordered take a way on Friday, 28;April 2023. 2 Cod fish and a chip costing £21.60. Absolutely dreadful the fish was almost non existent just crispy batter. The chips were awful.

Hip Chip was very busy and a rather long wait (over 25 minutes) on a Wednesday night. Staff was busy and not too friendly. We got the food to our place and it took over a hour. The cod was dry and chewy. The best bit of the cod supper and cheese burger meals were THE CHIPS, and they weren’t too good either. You would expect their signature meals of fish and chips would be their specialty and top shelf, but NO. You actually get BETTER Fish n Chips at a local pub like The Nook ( lunch only), Smuggler’s Inn, or Fullerton’s Arms (worth the drive). Best not to eat in Bushmills at all, if you can help it.

Superb chips!!! Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside and not greasy. Service was prompt and cheerful too. Great wee chippy, definitely on my return-to list!

Bought 4 'family chips' to feed a group of people. The only large thing about this portion of chips was the price - felt ripped off, it was just a normal sized portion in a large tray. Half the group went without chips. Quality of chips was good.

Good breading on the fish chips are good and crispy! Fish is a little dry. Not super greasy which is nice! Good size portions and good price! The cod supper is just fish and chips and it’s 12.45£ and getting the large chip and cod comes to 11.75£, so a little cheaper. Also I didn’t know this but ordering just the cod comes with chips already.

Well well well! When i went to Hip Chip 2 i never thought I would find more scrumptious scran. I was most definitely wrong, boys a dear. Absolutely out did themselves here lads. Usually love it here and the cod burger is my favourite. However this visit was a huge disappointment. 3 of us into empty shop at lunch time ordered 2 cod burgers and one cod and chips. Two people working and we had to wait 25 mins for food and when it arrived it was not great. The batter that is normally wonderfully light and crispy was just soggy, the bap for the burger was dry and fell apart. Not cheap either at £8 for one below standard burger and no chips(they used to add a little handful of chips with burger). I won't be returning. Shame

Excellent quality and quantity. Fish supper is huge and despite the increasing cost of Fish, you'll get value for money.

Chips were good but the chip buttie was disappointing, not many chips and in a bap as opposed to the usual baguette and only with a tiny squirt of sauce. Also there was no salt or vinegar as we requested on the chips but we found out too late as we had taken the food to a nearby park to eat

Went in at 7.10pm told it would be 15 mins , finally got our award winning fish and chips at 8.00pm . What award they have won i do not know , but it definitely wasn't for their fish and chips . Feel like they were focused on the online and phone orders, must have been 12 customers waiting while they piled the bags on top of the fryers going cold waiting for the driver .
