Absolutely disgusting experience, staff tried to be pleasant, but we sat for an hour without even getting our coffee/ Fanta. Then a sandwich appeared, without the soup, still no sign of chips, chilli, sausages. Had a 3 year old , starving, had to just get up and leave, yet they still had the gall to charge us for what they had served us. Other customers that arrived after us got their food before we were even looked at. Maybe they serve Americans before Irish/ northern Irish people.

Very disappointing, waiting time for food took too long peolple who came in before and after we place our order had their food while we were forgot about, salad was tasteless, and approximately 1-2 days old, Coleslaw was not very nice either, chips were too thick and hard, no flavour. Vinegar in packs came out in lumps 🤢, batter on fish tasted greasy, peas were cold. Too expensive for what was served, avoid at all costs!

The location is great, right near the beach in Cushendun. Unfortunately the cafe (it is a cafe not a restaurant) is charging restaurant prices for cafe food. I ordered a sausage bap and two hot drinks, the drinks came within a couple of minutes, but after ten minutes I still didn't have the bap. I went to the counter to find out what was happening, apparently 'I was in a queue and it shouldn't be much longer'. The man at the counter didn't help the 'ambience' by walking up and down with a face like a pug chewing a wasp. The bap eventually arrived over 20 minutes after I'd ordered, the sausage was tough and leathery and had obviously been kept warm somewhere, the bap was dry and had sat around for a while. The lady at the counter said it would come with ketchup, which it didn't, and I had to wait yet again for the ketchup to be brought over. It would have been good to still have the hot drink to wash it down, but I had already drunk that by the time the food came. A beautiful part of the coast with a picturesque cafe whose food left a bad taste in the mouth, and a dent in the wallet.

I called in with my mother for lunch. There were perhaps two tables with people, so not very busy. There was a man behind the counter making coffees for other customers. My mother stood near the door and I’m not kidding, I must have stood for at least 10-15 minutes and the guy never even turned around to say what you’d expect ‘Sorry, I’ll be with you in a few minutes once I’ve finished these”. In this time one of the other customers - a tourist - had also approached the counter to order something else. The man ignored us completely. A young girl was behind the counter and even she didn’t smile or say hello! One guy came out from the kitchen and at least smiled as he picked something up. I’ve never seen worse customer service. If he had at least acknowledged us, we would likely have stayed and waited patiently for lunch. I turned round and left ~ we went across the street to the wonderful Mary McBride’s. We wanted to try the Corner House out for a change but sadly, we are not encouraged to go back. Sad as it’s a stunning location and with the National Trust original decor, a lovely wee cafe. Shane the National Trust still don’t manage it. Maybe it was a bad day for them - not sure - but still terrible customer service. So much for tourism.

We stopped off for a coffee after a walk in the rain and we couldn’t resist selecting something from the amazing selection of cakes and tray bakes. We both have a soft spot for scones so I went for the cherry and my husband the sultana. Slightly warmed and served with jam, creamy and butter. So good 😊 so often scones are stale or have too much baking powder in them but these were perfect. The couple who have taken over the cafe were also very nice and very welcoming.

We have bee to this restaurant some time ago and it was fine. We called in today and ordered club sandwiches. We had to wait over 30mins for the food to arrive and realised we weren't the only ones with a long wait. The white bread ( no choice offered ) was barely toasted and the salad side was bone dry - no dressing as was the fillings. All a bit disappointing as there were only a few customers.

Why do you ask? Well, we were soaking up too much of their WiFi that it was affecting their PoS system. We're digital nomads and introduced ourselves as much at the till when asked if we were local or just visiting. We ordered our food and found a spot to eat and do a bit of work. I had a full fry, which was overcooked, and greasy and the beans needed parting with a knife they were that dry. My wife who has had bariatric surgery typically orders a child's meal, the menu offered a Jumbo Fish and Chips and drink, the "Jumbo Fish" was not as described, it was the size of two side-by-side fish fingers. Our obviously used plates were left at our table the whole time. Many staff walked. past and not one offered to clear them. The music upstairs was a tad too loud for comfort and we'd asked if it could be turned down, to which they kindly just turned it off completely. We ordered more drinks (at that point my wife took our used plates down the counter), as we were obviously working from their cafe and it's only right you keep spending money instead of squatting at their tables. A server then came up and asked what WiFi we were using, as their PoS system was struggling. We were using the BT WiFi system that we pay for through our provider, which I guess was causing them issues, not of our making as it's a side channel possibly from their own network. The music then came back on again. Then we were asked if we could vacate the premises as there were large queues forming downstairs (even though there were only two occupied tables upstairs (which included ours) and they needed the space. We finished our beverages, got up, and left. The only way to exit was down the stairs where there were indeed NO queues at all, and still plenty of seating available outside in the sunny area out the back. Not a great experience for a National Trust premises.

I am a regular customer and have had many delicious eating experiences here. Let me also recommend their mouth-watering cod and chips. For those interested in unusual facts the Corner House cafe is the closest Cafe on the island of Ireland to Scotland. On a clear day you can nearly touch the Mull of Kyntyre. Very rude manager, refused to serve our table of 6 a jug of tap water, as it was against 'Covid regulations', and said they could only sell bottled water at 1.50 for 500ml. This is quite clearly nonsense as there are no such covid "no tap water regulations" - Clearly just a money racket to sell overpriced bottled water. For someone so concerned about Covid, he wasn't wearing a mask at till and standing outside a short while later smoking a large cigar at the entrance, touting for business with a menu, reminiscent of a tacky Turkish tourist trap - not something I expect to see at a national trust controlled property. The downstairs toilets are absolutely filthy, and although the waiting staff are quite friendly, they all seemed new and untrained - it has an air of chaos, we waited over an hour for our order, and although quite busy, it was by no means packed. An odd little door at the front of the premises sells ice cream on a Cash only basis, which is clearly a little HMRC avoidance sideline. Food is fine, but very overpriced considering the quantity, quality, service and internal surroundings.

It’s a local outfit, run by local people.Worth visiting, even diverting well off your route to do so, I’ll be back anytime I can, but I believe they may close for a bit of time over winter, so worth checking.

Travelling along the Coastal Route we had heard that Cushendun was a pleasant place to break our journey from Portstewart to Carrickfergus. It proved to be an attractive village and the Corner House appeared, at first sight, an ideal place for lunch with a diverse menu and choice of dishes suitable for lighter meals.I opted for soup which was attractively served in a bread roll, sadly spoilt by the bread clearly being made a day earlier, or left out to go hard. Two other members of our party had bagels which were also served stale. Our other party member had the fish chowder which was fine.Earlier when paying the man behind the counter tried to give me an obsolete fiver, when this was pointed out it was duly replaced but returned to the till? Mm! I wonder if another unsuspecting tourist became the recipient?

Not a bad cafe but the cost of a slice of cake at £4.60 is extortionate. The owner/manager implied that was the usual price in cafes in the area and pointed out that it included squirty cream and a cape gooseberry (which I didn’t ask for anyway).

I called in here recently for morning tea. A pot of tea and a slab of cake cost a whopping £6.80!!! I shall avoid from now on.

We loved our coffee and desserts. Such an amazing selection of cakes and sweets. The staff were so warm and friendly and explained each cake in detail.

Our food was ok but definitely wasn't worth the price for two goujon meals and one sausage. I also found a hair in my food. Will not be rushing back.

So disappointed. Had brought friends for a weekend break. Order cocktails. Cosmopolitan over sweetened. Chowder was lacking flavour. Monkfish risotto was too salty. Service very mixed. Excellent mature waitress and very inexperienced junior waitress pressing for drink orders before wine list presented. Not a good experience.

Was conveniently placed, as we were going to Giants Causeway directly after. Food was great. Service personnel seemed a bit upset or perplexed they had customers coming through the door. The building was really cool, I believe and old schoolhouse and had multileveled floors, was really beautiful.
