Walked in today without a booking. Was approached and welcomed straight away. Food was great and decided to book our Christmas Staff Party for 18 people there and then. Friendly and great atmosphere. Thank you Andy & Hannah 👍

New to the village so we thought we would pop in and have a drink and some lunch. At first, we thought the pub was closed as there was a sign on the door advising no food as the chef was ill so we thought we would have a drink instead. There were around 7 people at the bar, as we walked in any sound of conversation stopped and the barman/owner just looked at us, it felt as though we weren't supposed to be there, I can only describe it as he looked somewhat shocked, we had entered the pub. I thought we may have walked into a private function, no hint of a hello or good afternoon or I will be with you in a minute. Not being able to serve food must affect business, not being welcoming and hospitable will also affect your business! We didn't eat so I can't review on that but in respect of hospitality the experience was uncomfortable and very strange.

Delicious lunch today and we were able to order from the dinner menu too. My lamb was amazing and the beef cheek was superb. Gluten Free lamb shank for one of our party and chicken and chorizo sandwiches with salad garnish and delicious side if chips.

Four of us just had a really lovely dinner at the Cock Inn. A,relatively small menu but that’s because everything is cooked fresh. Lamb and beef cheeks a highlight but to be honest we all four really enjoyed all of our three courses. Attentive table service from Hannah and nice that Andy (the Landlord) sat with us at the end of our meal and talked about the menu and future plans. Would thoroughly recommend and we will be back!

As we are moving to Hanslope in the next couple of months, we thought we'd try out the local pub. The Cock Inn in Hanslope is a little gem. Immediately we were welcomed by Hannah. We sat in the front terrace/garden in the sunshine under a parasol. We ordered two roast beef dinners and we were not disappointed. In fact it was delicious and all home cooked, right down to the homemade horseradish sauce. Table service, lovely attentive staff home cooked food, and a well presented clean pub. What more you could you ask for? We have definitely found our new local, and we look forward to coming back. Thank you Hannah and staff.

New owners and a recent refurb have really made the place smart, I have been in and around Hanslope for the last 45 years, but never stepped in the place as always used 2 other locatons in the village, the refurb has made it so modern, so hats off to whoever done this, the only trouble when you you take 2 children with you for a family meal and all you hear are the stories of the night before by the locals at the bar, maybe 15 yards away its not exactly my cup of tea! You are literally on a knfe edge waiting for the swear words to come out, unfortnately this was the case before we even had our drinks, so just wanted to eat and get out of there! The food was good though but tbh ruined by the loud locals and swearing, give the owner the credit she did go over to the bar and tell them to be quiet, this is where a stud wall could go between to the bar and the eating side, I understand it wouldn't have the open plan feel, but the locals do want to tell their stories of the night before (as I do elsewhere) so maye a stud wall would drown out some of the nosie from the bar. Still in and around Hanslope, so possibly go in there with a mate or few, but not with my wife, my 12 and 7 year ols because of the last experince

We've tried dinner and Sunday lunch here now and cannot fault anything. Great atmosphere, friendly people and excellent service. The food is outstanding - high quality ingredients, cooked to perfection and great value for money. The portion sizes are well judged - you can eat three courses without that awful over-stuffed feeling afterwards. It also makes a very pleasant change to find somewhere that puts some thought into creating dishes for people who don't eat meat instead of perpetually offering mushroom risotto. Very highly recommended.

Really enjoyed the mozerella and tomato starter, and the 28 day aged steak was excellent. The Greene King IPA was highly drinkable.

I wouldn't recommend this pub if it were the last oasis in the desert.Even local children are afraid of the landlord. They looked scared witless when we entered the patio area outside as the moved their bikes across. The pub was unsurprisingly absolutely lifeless. When I ordered a small Sauvignon for my 94 year old father, I was told that they only served 175 ml measures. I pointed out that my father would not be steady on his feet if he was forced to consume the larger measure. I also reminded the barmaid that the law was that they should serve a 125 ml. She went to fetch the landlord.I can only describe this man as a frightful ogre. He shouted at me that they didn't serve a 125 ml and that I should: "Piss off!" because I was "banned for life". Perhaps, I should point out here that I had NEVER ventured into this pub before in my life. Indeed, it is barely distinguishable as a public house at all so closely does it resemble the surrounding houses. When I made clear that leaving was exactly what we planned to do he went round to the front of the pub to intercept us as we left. As if he had not already made it abundantly clear that he wasn't inclined to abide by the legal requirement to serve a 125 ml measure, he continued ranting that I had no business telling them what the law was. How such an aggressive and uncouth man ever got into the pub trade I have no idea. My father was visibly upset by the whole experience. I will be mightily surprised if this pub is still open at Xmas. The man has not the first idea how to cater for ordinary customers who expect him to abide by the law rather than force an elderly man to drink more than he should! I can only surmise that given the adverse trading circumstances faced by the hospitality trade during lock-down that this particular publican is now going through mental health issues. At any rate he is offering the very antithesis of hospitality at this hostelry.

Refurb required. Vey dated. Meals ok but slow service at breakfast with only 1 waitress serving around 10 tables. Nobody at reception on arrival or departure. Clean but improvement in general all round needed.

This café is excellent. We went for breakfast on two days when we were staying nearby. The staff, especially HOLLY were super friendly and helpful. We definitely recommend and thank you for being there for us. My dog was made to feel very welcome too. It was also easy to park

Went to The Cock Inn for lunch, staff were really friendly and the food was very good, especially the Fish and Chips. It was a bit quiet with only another table in there, but we enjoyed our time there.

Situated in Watersons bookshop this coffee shop has a good range of snack foods and soups. Service is quick and hot foods will be brought to your table. I had Lentil soup which was delicious and had a nice peppery kick which was unexpected - truly satisfying. Served with two slices of a lovely brown bread and butter it was a meal in itself. Add a nice cup of latte and a packet of hand cooked crisps just set me up for a afternoon Christmas shopping. Nice place which was Covid secure. Whenever a table was vacated, a sign was placed effectively putting it out of service till fully sanitized. Wish others would follow suit.
