Very nice place to eat. Staff were really friendly and couldn’t have done any more for us. It was a birthday celebration and they really made us feel welcome. Food is all home cooked and was delicious

Great food (loving the £10 burgers on Monday) in a congenial atmosphere. A visit for dinner is highly recommended. A birthday treat was also offered which was very kind. Do visit if you are in the area.

I visited here with four girlfriends for the first time even though I only live around the corner! First impressions were very good The front of house was really friendly and we had drinks on the garden before ordering dinner. The garden is lovely and it’s a shame the road noise is so loud although not much can be done about that ! It was burger night where they offer several different burger meals for £10. Service was great very friendly. Pleasantly surprised by the food. I had Korean chicken burger which was absolute delicious and came with celeriac coleslaw and fries. I’m very fussy about my chips and they were lovely freshly cooked ( could have gone either with more but it was only £10 😂). We all enjoyed the food immensely. The belly pork burger and mac n cheese burger also looked great. If I had to say a negative it would be the pricey drinks. At 9.70 for a glass of wine I felt that was a bit steep. All in all a really lovely pub with a good menu and I look forward to visiting again

Had a fantastic roast dinner this afternoon. Had roast beef which was delicious and it came with Yorkshire pudding, roast potato’s and a nice selection of vegetables. The gravy was very tasty! I had olives to start and for dessert I had the panna cotta which was nice and creamy accompanied with roast peaches. There was a nice friendly atmosphere and the decor is modern and spacious. I would highly recommend this pub for food. All the staff were vert friendly and attentive.

I have been here twice now - first for lunch with set menu and then for dinner. Food is delicious and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The puddings are my favourite bit - the banana cheesecake was so good and perfectly set - not too firm. Service has been good both times as well.

Only our 3rd visit and were recognised and warmly welcomed. Greeted and professionally waited on by Nicola and Cheryl . By chance managed to sit adjacent to the large picture window to enable us to watch the conflagrations of the visiting birds . The Great Tits pulling the seeds out of the feeder assisting the others with a large Magpie scaring them off ,eating flying off ,repeat ,fascinating Bird book thoughtfully provided ,pre marked by those visiting . The soup superb ,never tried Blue Cheese Mushroom and Bacon before , it was thick and delicious. The new Beast burger chosen without the loads of fillings was extremely juicy , succulent and tasty. An egg would have been nice (hint} The Green King IPA perfect temperature and taste , correct glass of course from this perfect pub . Would love to stay all day . Well worth the 120 mile round trip . One caveat pulling in or out from the very fast road . Clean every where . Thank you all to the REAL team in the C & H.

This is an excellent pub/restaurant with a number of small cozy dining areas as well as the main restaurant. The food is excellent from a choice of roasts on a Sunday to bar snacks and an evening menu. There are always "specials" available. Staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient and the restaurant is very clean and tidy. On a sunny day there is the "Secret Garden" to be enjoyed. This is ideal for families as there is a variety of play equipment to keep children more than occupied whilst mums and dads chat and enjoy a glass of something. Well worth a second or even a tjird visit!

We were a party of six who booked in for a late Sunday lunch. I cannot fault the service at all. All the people who served us were very friendly and one lady had some fun cheeky banter. The people who had the roast pork enjoyed it but those of us on the roast beef found the meat...processed/pre carved and heated up by the kitchen maybe, certainly not carved fresh from a lovely big joint there and then. Equally there was something awry with the potatoes - they were tasty but they weren't cooked in the traditional way. They weren't crispy - possibly deep fried. My daughter enjoyed her nut roast. My gipsy tart was as I remembered it from school daysThey have a separate gluten free menu but I'm not sure why they couldn't make more of their roasts gf? Only the beef was excl the yorkshire pudd.

We had a group of 9, including 3 mothers, so we wanted it to be a nice relaxed and special meal. We were not disappointed. Most of us enjoyed the various roast dinners available, but there were a couple of meals that altered slightly from the menu due to personal choice. The staff were very helpful and even injected a bit of humour into our visit. Despite it being a very busy day for the pub, the staff were attentive and the food came out on time and all together. A very enjoyable and tasty visit at a very reasonable price. Thanks to all at the Coach & Horses.

We had our dog with us and called in here to have lunch. We asked if we could take her in and were told where we could sit with her. That was good as I know some other diners don't like to eat around dogs and I totally understand that. However, it was such a lovely day we opted to go and look at their "secret garden", wow, it is lovely, so we ate our lunch in the garden. The secret garden was such a surprise as it is LARGE and so well kept with plenty of tables and chairs out there. We were even given a water bowl for our dog.The food was very good , we had cajun chicken stack and rump steak and were unable to try a dessert as we were full. They have a varied menu, a good selection of burgers. We were made to feel very welcome and well looked after. We will have to return and try their Sunday lunch. An excellent place to eat for the summer in the lovely garden.

We ordered garlic bread as a starter and the waitress asked if we wanted any chilli sauce with it, yes please we replied.[ We were not told this sauce was chargeable].We also ordered our main at the same time. The 4 small pieces of garlic bread arrived after over 20 minutes, which seemed like a long time as there was hardly anyone in there..There was the small serving of chilli sauce on the plate too.The main took some time to come after we had finished the garlic bread; and the table that arrived after us received their a meal 30 minutes before we did.We paid our bill and returned home. When I looked at our receipt I noticed we had been charged 85p for the spoonful of sauce .Not much, but cheeky and greedy of the owners. We shall not be returning.

Drinks orders and turned up fast all was great until the food arrived I orderd roast beef and paid a little extra for large roast. Beef was over cooked very dry and no way was it cooked fresh that morning, roast potatoes again seemed they had been standing a long time soggy and mushy in the middle. I should of complained but my partner didn’t want the fuss. Very poor quality food, I await your reply and give you the chance to make it right! Many thanks

A friend asked my wife and I to go for Sunday lunch and took us to the Coach and Horses . We had passed it many times on our way to and from Deal but not stopped. When we arrived the proprietor told us that they were fully booked and ,sadly, we headed for the door. He called us back and said that he could seat us at an already prepared table that would not be occupied for some time and asked if the time available was enough for us. It was indeed , and we therefore had an excellent lunch (one pork, one beef, one turkey roasts) and were not in any way hurried or encouraged to speed up to make way for the next diners. The restaurant is spacious and well set out,the food was top class, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our thanks to them and the proprietor for turning what could have been a frustrating day into a most enjoyable one.

Burger aficionados should go for the Double Ultimatum , superb well worth the visit . Tits in the garden, they even arranged a rainbow on a grey day ! Beer served in correct glass , not often seen in uk . .Clean and even a baby change within the gents with suitable relevant supplies too. Un adopted large car park but ramp into the main bar . . Shall defiantly return ,good traditional pub and service. Last tip check location before you set out or tour the area like we did .

Every New Years Day we go to a different South East coastal town for a family day out.Having fallen foul in previous years of not being able to get a table for lunch in pubs or restaurants I decided to be organised a book ahead.I searched on “opentable” and found the availability for a table of 7 to be quite limited. The Coach & Horses definitely looked to be the pick of the bunch & we weren’t disappointed. We arrived at 12:15pm and found a parking space easily in the ample carpark.Staff offered a warm & friendly greeting and remained genuinely happy to help throughout our two hour stay. The youngsters tucked into burgers, as did our teenager. The adults enjoyed the fish and chips, the chilli-con-Carné and the pie of the day off of the specials menu. Empty plates and contented smiles on faces we headed off to Deal for a walk along the pier and the beach. This pub definitely has a certain charm to it and my sister and I will definitely return in the summer to enjoy the delights of the garden with the children.Thank you for a fantastic start to 2019.

Lovely touch to have little mini easel with our name on it welcoming us too. Sunday lunch was absolutely delicious. Good idea to do two sizes. The vegan Sunday lunch was superb with a tasty and flavoursome mushroom, rice and nut roast. Our guest loved her roast turkey, declaring it “perfect”. Delicious roast potatoes, crunchy yorkshire puddings, and perfectly cooked vegetables. Lovely attention to detail and proper home cooking that felt truly generous. Superb service and reasonably priced drinks and yummy desserts including a vegan apple pie served with vegan vanilla ice cream for me, regular vanilla for my cousin and a large plate of cheese for my partner. We also run an Air BnB and will be suggesting this place to our guests as it is one of the best Sunday lunches in the area, with the best quality food, lovely welcome and for a very reasonable price. We’ve driven past so many times on what is quite a busy road and not realised we were passing such a gem. Loved it.

Amazing service. Absolutely full restaurant, yet food for 9 people still came out fresh and homemade and hot. Staff couldn’t do enough for us. Would fully recommend the Sunday dinner - booking is a must though as they hate to turn away, but was so busy. Thank you all.

I visited here last week with family, we were treated to some very nice food and the staff were very friendly, the grounds were lovely, and great for small children as there are horses and sheep to see and there is a lovely big garden to the rear of the pub. I had a stilton and steak pie and a tea bread and butter pudding with custard, both were lovely, although I would say we arrived early and and I had the last of both, so might be an idea to make more of the specials of the day, not my problem though :-)

We visit the Coach & Horses on a regular basis for meals and also we attend the quizzes. We called in for lunch at the weekend and had the steak and ale pie with mash - the steak was so tender, the gravy delicious and pastry couldn't be better. The Sunday roasts are good too. The staff are great - and apologise if there may be a delay due to the pub being busy (as it usually is on a Sunday lunchtime). We would always recommend the Coach & Horses.

Today I organised lunch for a group of about 18 people at this restaurant. The person doing the booking was extremely helpful. We arranged to meet there at 10.15 to choose from the menu or specials available. This went off without a hitch. Since the weather was lovely I asked if we could eat in the garden. After the ramble everything was in place for us in the garden. The service was great. The food delciious. The staff waited on us with no fuss and were very helpful. After lunch they waited till we were all finished before cearing away. No rushing us. The group made it clear to me they loved the place and the food. 10 out of 10. Thanks

I popped into this restaurant to book for nine of us for lunch. I also asked if they could provide Prosecco and glasses for the table as I wanted to make a special toast. We arrived and the table was perfect, including our names on a little blackboard! The waiting staff were very attentive and the food was all delicious - my husband is still raving about his steak and Stilton pie. I loved the way the menu allowed you to downsize your portions which left plenty of room for puddings!I’m a bit of a coffee perfectionist and my americano was disappointing but everything else was perfect, especially the child-friendly garden and the doll’s house.

I went here for Sunday lunch for my birthday with my family, first visit since they moved to Deal and I live in Dover. I can’t fault the staff in any way they were all warm friendly and welcoming from the manager to the bar staff and our waitress Cheryl.Food was very good value for money, we will be back.

My wife and I were visiting my Dad when we decided to stop in here for a spot of lunch. Inside we received a warm welcome and were provided with a large varied menu - there was something on there for everyone as well as weekly and daily specials - especially for my wife who is vegetarian. According to my wife the vegetarian burger she had was the best she had ever had. The homemade pie was really good too. My personal favourite was the the gypsy tart - one of the best I’ve experienced for a long time. For three courses each plus drinks and coffee it was £71 - amazing value for money. Would highly recommend a visit here if you are after a great meal

I popped in when I was working in the area. Got chatting to the man behind the bar. Lovely people. They really do try hard for their customers some really nice quirks like the bike rack and the borrow and umbrella. Also noticed a bouncy castle outside for the kids.I sat in the garden and ate my food and enjoyed every minute of it. Would definitely come again

Went here a few years ago when I was working in the area, although it was ok it was only mediocre. Apparently still in the same hands but with a not so new manager. What a transformation, Nicola the manager has worked wonders.Although very busy, the staff were friendly and very helpful. The food is superb, good portions and good prices. Definitely worth a visit if your in the area.

Our family group of nine loved their lunch there. Grandad loved his steak and ale pie. Kids loved their food, clearing their plates. Kids also enjoyed the bouncy castle. Will certainly come again.

We have not been in here for a few years now and what a transformation has been made for the better. Very light and airy now and welcoming staff. The menu was very good and at reasonable prices too. We spent over 3.5 hours here in the end even going out in the garden after our meal for more drinks.

We are staying at Sandwich and looked up for a nice pub for food and this came up. So glad we came. Lovely welcome. Friendly staff. Very accommodating and amazing food. Lamb kofta was amazing from the light bites and chicken ham and leek pie was fab. Would highly recommend and definitely come back. It was raining when we came which was a shame as the garden looks amazing and has a bouncy castle weather permitting

Have had a few meals now at the Coach and Horses. Gourmet food it is not, but great for honest pub grub. Good value too; also the service is excellent. Fantastic location for families with smaller children; has a bouncy castle, swings and other games and toys for the kids. Large, very pretty garden with plenty of seating. Only down side, the garden is right beside a busy road, so a bit noisy.

We visited her on the 4th August and seriously....the best food that we have had for ages.To start the service was fantastic. The girls were so helpful and polite and so smart and could not do enough for you.The food came quickly and was piping hotI had the chicken and leek pie which had loads of chicken in and leeks like you would expect from a home made dish today delicious. The other two people with me had fish and chips and a ultimate burger which they devoured it truly was delicious. We then went on to have knickbocker glories which were made with fresh fruit which also were delicious. As we had suxh a pleasant experience we decided to return today the 5th to try there Sunday roast which was outstanding and yes we HAD to follow with another knickbocker glory.I can not praise this establishment enough as it was the best dining experience we have had for long time.Thank you so much to Cheryl and the staff of the coach and horses.

Wonderful place. Warm welcome. Lovely decor even outside has a beautiful seating area! Great entertainment for kids we actually got to talk to our friends because the kids were busy on the swings slides and bouncy castle! Then to order the menu was great very clearly labelled for allergens. Which is great as our kids are both allergic to cows milk. Noticed alternative cakes for gluten free as well. Then the food came and was very tasty. All round a brilliant lunch out!

The person manning the entrance insisted we wear bands on wrists (plasticised, non-recyclable) which indicated payment of the garden entrance fee which would allow seating in the garden area. Having reserved a table inside, sunny weather tempted us into the garden. No tables were reserved in the garden area. Staff stated they were unable to move an umbrella to provide shade over a table large enough to accommodate the 5 of us. This request was made by 2 very elderly members of the group. We moved to the reserved table inside the tearoom which allowed dogs at tables. Our expectation of a healthy lunch with salads gathered from the wonderful kitchen garden was dashed. Salad leaves came from plastic bags, quiches were supermarket produced and almost nothing locally sourced. Mediocre, bought-in food assembled on site. When asking for water at the table, a glass urn was pointed out to us. “Glasses” were the single use plastic type. 2 of the party, sitting at opposite ends of the table, ordered the same type of tea. One pot between the 2 was provided. When the meals arrived, the waitress stood at the end of the table, announced the contents of the plates and expected to pass them to the person seated next to her for distribution down the table. A second waitress attempted a similar act with the cutlery (wrapped in a serviette) but then did walk around the table and put it in the appropriate place. The attitude of the supervisory staff was high handed. The younger members, although pleasant, were clearly untrained. Although something of a fuss was made about the displaying of the entrance wrist bands if the garden area of the tearoom was to be used, (can only be clearly displayed on a handbag strap or wrist), several customers not displaying bands were seated in the lovely sunny garden. The gardens were simply beautiful.

Early evening meal with 4 friends . We opted for the 2 courses for £10 deal! We tried the 3 options available and each were lovely. Well cooked and presented. Huge choice of dessert - all delicious. Service was friendly and warm - even though as the only person working, she had a lot on her plate! With drinks - it cost £16 per person. The main menu was also good value. A couple of us would have preferred to see a couple of salad option on the menu so that’s what would have made it 5* However absolutely worth a visit.
