The co-operative food in Brighton and Hove

The co-op on Blatchington Road in Hove really is something to behold. There’s a general atmosphere of chaos and disorder with a side order of dissatisfaction. It’s a very depressing place to shop here since the refit where all the human were replaced with automated checkouts that don’t work. If the automated checkouts work at all it’s surprising. Security staff will usually be standing there watching customers struggling but not helping as it’s not their job. Today the staff restocking the curry/ chutneys were swearing loudly and using F word while working. I can’t say I blame them, I would probably be swearing too if I had to work in that depressing mechanical environment. Older customers seem to hate the automated checkouts the most, so there’s a huge queue at kiosk. Don’t blame them either. There’s apparently zero customer service available unless you can be bothered to queue at the kiosk. In order to give feedback via the Coop’s online survey you need your receipt, which is a shame because the machines aren’t actually printing receipts at the moment. Would definitely avoid this shop unless absolutely desperate, and even then would pause to reconsider. It’s a shame Coop have ruined their own shops- not sure if they understand that people dislike it.

Coop Farnborough Road clifton Nottingham went this morning at 7.40 was told were not open yet the doors says 7.00 no sorry were not open. Then no blue top milk probably missed delivery due to late opening. Was told by window cleaner they told how they'd got up late what a joke

Visited the coop by king Alfred normally look forward to a coffee and Croissant but the manager has let his customers down this morning Costa machine open not working and no Fresh hot bakery at all store should be ready when they open What a let down

Absolutely awful,the steak was so tough I couldn't eat it what a let down I wouldn't recommend it to any one

Your cookies are amazing!! The flavour is immaculate, never tasted anything like it! The stickiness of the toffee is divine and I can’t thank u enough for aiding my addiction of the cookies is just divine and delicious. 10/10 for the chewiness of the cookies. I love u so much coop KILLAY GOWER ROAD AROUND THE CORNER, when broken in middle it’s heavenly. Peace and love

We shop here most days as we drop our hermes parcels here for our business.Great staff,easy parking.

Shop is very dated and tired looking. Surly staff and rather poorly trained staff. Limited choices and too many empty shelves and fridges/freezers. Coffee shop area takes up too much space and is rarely used. Checkouts aren't often open which results in long queues at the kiosk.

Dirty shop food out of date staff rude as with all coops very poor living in the dark ages nothing looks appetising

Just your standard co op, has all your bits in but a bit pricey. Would never do a regular shop here.

Sometimes when your expectations are low you are pleasantly surprised. Needed a cuppa and thought the Co-op cafe should do the job. Only expected a mediocre latte, but it was really nice. Perfect coffee hit and at a decent price.
