Beach Break Fish & Chips in Brighton and Hove

I understand that you need to make money but Stay away from this chip shop immediately!! £5.00 for a ‘ large chips ‘ turned out to be the smallest portion of chips I have ever received. The vinegar tasted like gone off oil from uncle shreks palace. And you know what’s even worse, they charge and extra £2 for a tiny sauce packet.?? The lady at the till was very miserable, tbh she looked like she had eaten all the chips herself giving me that sick old attitude. Find a better job, instead of putting your misery into other people. The chips were sharp and dry. And cut my mouth. It felt like prison food, it felt like I was the chips prisoned in the fridge lol They were not fresh at all, it felt like they were kept in the fridge for days. It asked me which dishes to recommend So I’m going to avoid that question. None.

It was so soggy and gross the fish inside was not even cooked Eat here if you want to be sick for days

Quite hard to understand the way they get orders out. People who were served after others received their orders. I waited in excess of thirty minutes to be served a fish half the size of my friends, who by the way were served after me and got theirs before me, despite paying the same price. Pure rank

We all enjoyed our food here, lovely cod and chips. Kids had the nuggets, no complaints from them! Will be returning when next in Brighton

Regular customer my daughter loves their chicken nuggets and chips I love their chips sometimes have them cheesy and they do their own spicy curry sauce which is delish

We will always return here for fish and chips after today. Not only wonderful food & huge portions but incredible staff! My childs thumb became stuck in a soda can today on the beachfront, she quickly became hysterical. We rushed in here for help and the manager Ben kept us both calm, he was just fantastic. He removed the thumb carefully, cleaned and bandaged the wound with his first aid kit and went above and beyond gifting my daughter an ice cream afterwards. Thankyou so much for your kindness 💓

This place is actually called "by the beach"... presumably a name change to distance themselves from the bad reputation. Awful chips - soggy, old grease fat flavour; fish okay. Terrible value for money. A chippy serving chips that awful should be ashamed. Threw most of them away.

Simply disgusting- never again, sorry!

Lovely fresh cod and chips not soggy, batter crispy not all greasy, scampi was excellent, staff were particularly pleasant and helpful considering it was a busy bank holiday, great spot right on the beach. Will definitely go again.

Simply the worst meal I have ever had. I mean ever. 5 quid for a portion of manky black chips, not one came from the middle of what resembles a potato. Dude serving drinking next door all afternoon. I put them back on the counter and they couldn't get rid of them quick enough straight in the bin. Even my dog sniffed twice and walked off. Please dine ( if that's what it is ) elsewhere.

Good whitebait, calamari, scampi and fish. Great place to eat and enjoy the beach view. Definitely recommended. Visited here twice recently.

Batter wasn't crispy, and the chips seemed to have been frozen prior. I'm not sure if a coincidence, but now I have food poison the following day after having eaten here. Do not recommend

You know when the server looks at you when you walk away with a shady I've just had you over look, awful food and I get the impression they know it...

Soggy batter Luke warm fish and like warm chips that tasted stale

Worst fish & chips we've ever had. Very thin piece of grey fish with the skin left on! (I would imagine it would simply fall apart otherwise as it was so thin). The batter was not fresh & golden either. The chips seem to be from two different batches as they were two different colours. So not cooked fresh as advertised & they certainly didn't taste fresh either. This place really doesn't care as they have a prime position on the seafront. Tourist trap. I would put no stars if it was possible. Avoid.

Soggy small fish and soggy chips. Probably sitting at the counter for a while as not hot enough either. It did not taste good at all. They say chips are fresh cut & fish is line caught but that’s what every single F&C shop claims at Brighton beach and pier. I suggest get your fish & chips on the pier they are crispy, big & slightly cheaper.

Decent, but expensive but what isn’t these days. The fish tasted very bland but the vinegar helped a lot.

Great service from staff, amazing seating facing the sea! Really enjoyed.
