The Clubhouse Restaurant in Melton

Well I had been looking forward to having my Christmas dinner cooked for me for months, but I wish I had stayed at home. Firstly when we arrived there wasn't enough table settings for our party. The starters which were pre-ordered seemed to cause complete confusion for the waiting staff and the bread rolls were burnt and hard as rock. Then we lined up ready for the carvery only to find that the turkey had ran out and the meats that were left were basically scrag ends. They was no mash, gravy or carrots and what was left was disgusting. My partner who is a vegetarian and had pre-ordered his meal was told that they didn't have anything for him and they cobbled something together for him in the kitchen. When we tried to complain the owner was very aggressive and unreasonable. He even stuck his fingers in my mum's dinner and ripped up her meat and told her that there was nothing wrong with it. The pre-ordered Christmas puddings never arrived and then the owner started turning off the lights to indicate it was time for us to leave. I have emailed and written to the owner to ask for our money back only to be totally ignored.

Well Christmas Day dinner was an absolute disaster! Our sitting was for 1pm, by the time we went to get our meal they had run out of turkey! Who runs out of turkey on Christmas Day!!! Those in our party who managed to get turkey had the arse end which was rock hard! The veg was a pile of slop swimming in water and grease. Stuffing and Yorkshire puddings burnt, and congealed gravy! Upon complaining to the manager he proceeded to dip his fingers into the dinner, ripping the scraggy bit of turkey up saying they should’ve had beef!! The manager offered no apology and also never asked what could be done to rectify the problem! It was just a money making exercise for the owner as he was switching the lights off before we had finished to get rid of us! No offer of coffee, mince pies etc absolute shambles. Thank goodness for the Costco desserts!! Will not step foot in this place again, dreadful food, poorly managed and unprofessional! Merry Christmas Melton Bowls Club Restaurant. We dropped by for a ‘Its Friday night we can’t be bothered to cook’ dinner, and it was everything we needed. So many choices, so well cooked and delicious. We only live a 5 minute walk away but will definitely be back. £25 for two starters and two mains, incredible value.

Have been here a few times and would consider myself a regular. Through the lockdown we had takeaways to keep us going till we were allowed back after lockdown. The chef is an amazing guy and knows his trade. Nothing, and I mean nothing has ever been wrong with the food and I include the times when we go as a part of 6 adults and three children. We have steaks a number of times and always the meat is the best quality and cooked exactly as per request. Last night 6 of us ate there and again the food was excellent. My wife and daughter in law had the Roast of the Day ( beef ) my son had a cajun chicken, one grandaughter went for the steak and eventually she finished it with a smile on her face while the other grandaughter had chicken nuggetts. No complaints from anyone, my wife saying that the Beef was tender and full of flavour as usual. I have left myself till last as it needs a special mention, The chicken fillet with sweet and sour sauce was the best I have had by a mile. Bay sweetcorn, peppers and beansprouts etc. Served as a sizzler and was superb. My compliments Chef, you raise the bar each time we come. The restaurant has been screened off from the Bowling section so do not let this put you off like past comments. This place is a hidden secret and anyone who has not been there, please give it a try and you will not be disappointed with your choice.

Having played bowls on a few Sunday lunchtimes this year, and being distracted by the gorgeuos aromas coming from the restaurant, we just had to give the food a try. We were not disappointed! We each had a beef carvery and it was superb. The beef was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying veg were all nice and hot. Huge portions at well that beat all three of us ! Thanks to Rachael,John,Mehdi and the team for their excellent service.

Visited for an 80th Birthday party in December and found the bar staff to be pleasant, although they don't take cards for purchaces under £10 which is ridiculous in this day and age. I bought a wine, then had to buy a bottle to make up the money. Come on Club house get in the 21st century. We got a few chairs around a table for our group and happened to get a couple of red chairs. A very rude woman who had been bowling came up and snatched the chairs back, whilst grumbling they were for the bowlers. There is no sign to say about the COLOUR coding of the chairs, we were quite taken back. The food was quite nice, recommend the prawn salad, but it is not really a meal size, I ordered a plain Jacket to go with and was glad I did. The resturant staff are helpful and pleasant. Unfortunately the resturant hasn't got much attmosphere. We would visit again, but be warned, the RED chairs are out of bounds

Popped in for lunch, staff brilliant, food delicious and piping hot. Can't fault it at all. Will definitely be back

fine carvery nothing fancy, just good basic food , and also drinks great value too so if you are in melton on a tuesday market day its a great way too round off the day with a great value lunch.

It is some time since we went to The Clubhouse for a Sunday carvery lunch.. we should go more often. The service is prompt & friendly, and the food delicious and piping hot. At £8.50 the carvery offers superb value for money, and there are a range of nice starters at £3.95. Do try it - if you haven’t already!

Visited on. Saturday lunchtime. The staff were very accommodating. The menu had a good selection of classics and they were all reasonably priced. The actual dish we had were very tasty and of a good quality.

myself my friend and sister in law went their for my birthday and my sister in law birthday meal was looking forward to eating out as we're all busy people we didn't get showed to our table we was pointed in the direction of a table the waitress came to take our order my friend and sister in law gave their order and the waitress turned to walk away like I was invisible then suddenly turns back then asked what do you want so I have my order the waitress bought sister in law and friends meal placed it in front of them saying enjoy your meal then bought my meal and shoved a plate in fro n of me rather than placing it then plonked my griddle meal on the table and walks away ok I thought that's fine after the meal same waitress asked my two accompanied with me would you like a dessert they said yes she took their order and walked away after a few minutes she came back with one dessert then put it in front of sister in law then fetched friends at this time i was expecting to be asked if I would like a dessert but no and she still did not ask if I wanted a dessert dumbfounded i looked at her was about to ask and she gave me a sideward glance then walks away not at all impressed clearly had a problem with myself that has definitely put me off of going their again the meal was nicely presented on the plate and skillet was piping hot i did enjoy the meal i had ordered but after the way I was treated on my birthday i think I will be giving it a very wide berth

Seven of us visited on 9/3/19 for a family evening meal. There is a well equipped bar upon entering where u can view people bowling whilst u wait for your table. The restaurant is private and separate. We had a variety of food, myself was the lasagne salad chips and garlic bread, which was nicely presented and tasted fab. The mixed grill was enjoyed by all, also the surf and turf comes recommended. All staff were helpful and polite and accompanied by a lovely atmosphere created a brilliant night enjoyed by all at an extremely good price. Will definitely return again, many thanks!.

Booked for 4 adults for the festive menu. Absolutely beautiful. We all chose beef, well it just fell apart, cooked to perfection. Plenty of vegetables and potatoes, yorkie pud, pigs in blankets and lashings of lovely beef gravy. Mint and chocolate mousse pyramid for pudding, followed by mince pies. Super staff, food and atmosphere. Definitely worth 5 stars

Very friendly atmosphere, the prices of the food are excellent, The beer is for sale at a very reasonable price. The restaurant serves a wide variety of meals, some thing for everyone. Some of the meals come with a dessert as part of the meal. Never had a bad meal, it it served by pleasant staff. Booking should be done to ensure a seat.

Meals good as always but waitress more interested in chatting up the chef and kitchen staff than doing her job. Waited 15 mins to order then had to ask for her to take order then again for her to take the sweet order. Shame really but very frustrating. Case of when the boss is away the mice will play. Sort your staff out Medi ......

Popped in on the off chance of some food, and was offered carvery or main menu. One look at the carvery and we were sold. Beef, pork or turkey with Yorke pud, roasted, mash, carrots, red cabbage and peas. All piping hot and very tasty. Profiteroles and cream to follow for us both. All for £12! Paris is a fab member of the team, so polite and friendly.

Brilliant service, when booking I made a couple of requests regarding 2 of our party having mobility issues, these were dealt with perfectly including waitresses offering help at the carvery etc. Food was great and plentiful and very reasonably priced. we will return again soon.

Great place to go for a Sunday lunch. Staff are friendly. Food is very good. Lots of choice and a great price 4 dinners and 3 deserts less than £40. Will be going back.

Excellent meal not rushed staff very friendly. Would highly recommend going. After the meal we went out of restaurant and sat talking and enjoying a drink or two. Melton bowls club is not far from where we live , could walk or drive there. Will definitely be returning on a regular basis.

We came here as we like to try local carveries in our area even though we have been before a long while ago and were disappointed then with the quality of the food.I was given two rather small slices of meat ,the vegetables are left stewing in water so you have to wait while the water strains off,you still end up with water on your plate. The mashed potato was so full of hard lumps that I couldn't swallow it yet people amazed me by saying "this is just how I like it".Sorry but I haven't had anything this bad since I left secondary school forty odd years ago.

Recently visited the clubhouse restaurant, had a lovely meal with the family I would definitely recommend to others as the food is great and the staff are brilliant.

Reasonable food at competitive prices. Sometimes there is a little wait for food to come from the kitchen.

He visitado este restaurante antes y quedé muy impresionado. Esta vez no fue la misma. Fue un día de la semana, pero un asador, igual que la última visita. Esta vez había 3 Carnes opuesto a 5 la última vez que es comprensible. Pedí un poco de cada y entonces esperamos la carne en mi plato. Me dieron carne, Turquía y patatas asadas y luego la placa fue devuelta. Así que me recordó a la gent que me había pedido 3 carnes. Me dijeron que sólo podía tener 2. Que puede ser, pero no me dieron una opción. Me han dado esa decisión sin haber elegido una combinación de carne. La selección de vegetales consistía en, zanahorias, guisantes y patatas cocidas repollo rojo. Las zanahorias eran demasiado hecha y sin sabor. . . puede haberse zanahorias en lata, que probablemente eran! La carne era deliciosa.

No hay problema para aparcar, el restaurante no estaba lleno de la semana visitamos con una corriente constante de clientes entrando en el menú de alimentos ofrece una buena variedad. Cuando cenamos elegimos el Almuerzo de dos platos (un asado y postre) por £5. 00, que nos pareció razonable relación obviamente esta comida no es Catering cordon bleu, pero una práctica ubicación para comer si no te apetece cocinar su propia comida. Una amplia variedad de comida disponible.

Lugar genial cada vez que comer allí sólo desean tener el pastel y mano maltratada fishon todo el tiempo el personal estará encantado de servirle es un gran lugar para comer xxxx

I went on 23rd August 2016 for an evening meal with my wife, our daughter and 2 granddaughters aged 13 and 9. The staff are very attentive and helpful and the food was delicious

We went on the off chance there was seating available, there was. The staff were excellent and the food was piping hot, plenty of choice for desserts, we didn't have long to wait for meal to be served

Have visited twice this week. Food and staff lovely as always. Broccoli bake is fab and always accommodate our kids too. Profiteroles are superb, but could eat more of them! Well worth a visit. Thanks for a couple of great meals.

If carverys are your thing then this is definitely worth trying out. Visited last Sunday and was really quite impressed with the lunch. Particularly the quality and size of the meat portions. Beautiful thick cut beef and Turkey. No problems with any of the other items either and as someone else has mentioned the gravy was particularly good. All the staff in the restaurant and bar were also very friendly. Ok, the bar area is perhaps a little 'functional' but then this place is primarily a bowls club not a pub/restaurant, having said that the restaurant area itself is partitioned off from the main bowling area so feels quite separate.

We had gone over to the Melton Mowbray indoor bowls club for a game as our club was being refurbished and decided to have a meal there as we had heard so much about it. Trust me we were not disappointed. It was a cavery lunch with 5 meats with all the trimmings. All the food was cooked to perfections and fresh. The servings were generous too. There should have been sign up saying ''leave room for you pudding'' because sadly I couldn't manage one one after my main.

This is the place to go for a good carvery! Will not disappoint! Staff are all so friendly and the gravy is to die for!

We are three ladies who "do lunch". We used to make a point of trying different restaurants each time we got together. We had the Bowls Club recommended to us many months ago so we gave it a try. We absolutely love eating here and it is automatic for us to rebook each time now. The food has the home cooked appeal, the veg is seasonal, fresh and plentiful. The puddings never fail to temp!!! The staff are friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The price is extremely reasonable.

We have eaten at The Clubhouse a number of times over the years - invariably it has been the Sunday lunch carvery. Quite simply, it would be hard to find a nicer carvery meal.. anywhere. The large joints are carved to your request, and you have a wide choice of vegetables & potatoes etc. - all piping hot and delicious.If you appreciate quality and value for money, and enjoy good food, you could do a lot worse than try The Clubhouse.

Our Coffee Club had an excellent Christmas Lunch here last week. We have been before but the standard is still very high and we had a lovely time. Food and staff excellent and welcoming. We would recommend the ambience and experience very highly.

As the bowls club is usually our first choice of places to eat we have been many times. The food is always delicious and such good value we always double check the bill, convinced that something has been missed off. The staff are lovely, polite and friendly without being overpowering.

We have been a few times and I've got to say it's one of my favorite places to eat!!! The food is delicious, the service is excellent and the place is spotless!!! Also great value! Would recommend to anyone!

We use this restaurant for celebrations & for meals with friends every month or so. There is a good choice available on the menu which gives excellent value for money. Food is freshly cooked and the staff are all very friendly.

Fantastic freshly cooked food at amazingly good price - we have eaten here several times and each time the service and the food has been exceptional, really good value for money.

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend and went with an open mind as we were told it was the local bowls club. Well, it was a cold day but we were met with a very warm, friendly welcome by the young man behind the bar. The restaurant is discreetly tucked away from the indoor bowling area and pleasantly decorated. We opted for the carvery and even though it was coming to the end of service there was still plenty of food on offer. We just had the carvery as we found this more than sufficient. My husband queried the bill when he went to pay and pointed out to the young woman that there had been two of us eating. She confirmed the bill was £9.50 for both meals - we couldn't believe it, bearing in mind you are lucky to buy a couple of sandwiches for this price in some places. Good food, comfortable surroundings, pleasant staff and excellent value for money! Certainly worth a return visit.
