Chips fried in vegetable oil (separately from anything else). One of the few places with vegan options (just a wrap & spring rolls, but still...).

Totally unimpressed with the food. We ordered 3 cod and chips to take home, but when we opened the boxes we actually had very thin tail ends of haddock or something else, It was certainly was not cod! The chips were small and bitty, not proper chip potatoes. The batter on the fish was pale, soggy and under cooked. Not a £10 plus fish and chips. However, the staff were present and friendly, otherwise it would have been just one star.

Don’t go here if disabled. Staff is awful we felt like we shouldn’t have been out. In the end we ended up leaving very upset. Thought we would give it a second chance to see if it had changed and nope. Still some members of staff that spoke and treated us like nobody. Management really needs to sort their staff out

We went here today, myself and my son ,we had a nice lunch ,but a shame about hygiene, toilets was disgusting, they could do with a good clean.Think staff should be made to wear skirts, not belts .(girls).enough to put u off ur meal .

Lovely friendly staff excellent service very welcoming atmosphere been here several times and never been disappointed would recommend to anyone

We made our first visit on New Year’s Eve for our lunchtime treat of fish and chips with our Labrador. The whole staff made us welcome we where seated and our order was taken . Our meal was freshly cooked and even our dog was treated to a sausage free of charge . Would we pay another visit of course we will the next time we visit Skegness . Highly recommend to other dog owners

Just had a fish and chip lunch here. very tasty and 'pipping' hot.Staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was spotlessly clean. The decor is very 'sea front' and reminded us of the old fashioned tea rooms of yesteryear. We'd certainly go there again.

First night in Skeg so came here for Fish and Chips [eat in]. i ordered haddock and chips, pretty sure what we got was cod and not haddock. [i know haddock and what i got was not haddock!!] I appreciate this place is a chip shop when all said and done but why do all kids meals have to be chips, there was not a NO CHIP alternative available [but that is standard across the UK for kids and we wonder why we have obese kids]. They claim to serve award winning fish and chips, not sure what the award was for. I live close to a real award winning fish and chip shop and this place does not even come close to being award winning. non-the less it was palatable but i do feel it was expensive. haddock and chips twice, chicken nuggets and chips for child, one coke, one lemonade and a kids drink. no change for £30 pretty expensive for bog standard grub paid less for better food in a decent pub

We had breakfast here. It was tasty and flavoursome. Beautiful decor and spotlessly clean. Very good value for money. The staff were friendly,professional, accommodating and helpful. The premises is spotlessly clean throughout

Only gave it 1 star because 0 wasn’t an option. Waited ages for the takeout. Ordered large cod and chips, portion size was very small, just as well as it didn’t taste great, fish batter was soggy. Asked for a batter sausage, received an unbattered one. Bread rolls and ketchup ordered didn’t get any of those either. The worst and probably the most expensive fish and chips I’ve ever had. I will be avoiding this place in the future.

Thought we’d start the day on our day trip to skeg with a decent breakfast,normal decent service and food,a bit expensive but worth it,not this time,50 min wait for our food,the lady serving us made us feel like we where putting her out and the bacon was just fat,all 4 meals where a let down,could of gone a few different places for half the price well let down,probably be the last time we visit the clock ☹️

My previous visit here was not at all that you would expect to get when you go for a meal and, with the benefit of past experiences, I should have known better than to try it onmce more. What a mistake. It was truly worse than awful. The so called food, was pre-pared and heated up in a microwave. How cay they expect to attract customers when this is the way they conduct business? When I complained about this to the staff, they were not at all interested and seemingly just brushed it off. Shameful!

Friendly staff warm welcome. A good selection of televised sports. Dog friendly. The food looked good although my wife and I being vegan would have liked more options for vegans. Will visit again in February. Hopefully a wider choice for vegans.

We used to come here loads and lived it everyone... I don't quite know what happened if they got new owners new management new chefs or what but everything has just changed really didn't enjoy our meals and was really disappointed there is a plus though it looks nice and the waitress was really nice and friendly

Me and my partner had food here yesterday wasnt that busy at the time just us and one other couple we ordered gammon and chips also battered sausage (you get 2) and chips considering it wasn't busy the batter was was to cooked and the grease coming from them was discussing

good food. lots of things on the menu that will tease your brain. batter around the fish is cooked to perfection, the chips is a huge portion. its clean to eat in and the staff are all nice. willing to get your food ready for you.well worth a visit. not expensive in anyway.even if your on a budget there is still a good meal for a poor mans pocket to afford .

Very clean quality fish and chips there was 5 of us we had kids meals and ham off the bone chips and double eggs wow beautiful plenty of choice to chose from kids and adults alike super place to eat recommend it highly

This place has actually changed its name to hussy or something strange like that but it's still the same management and staff ( I asked)although the menu has been tweeked a bit. if we're in Skegness we come here because we are guaranteed good food. We've never been disappointed. The staff are great, prices are reasonable.

Nice atmos and lovely food staff out of this world. Would certainly go again next time i'm in skegness. But I won't be staying in THE GRAND on north parade I will stay away from that place for sure.

This is a large restaurant doing fish and chip meals and other choices too. The selection is large from light snacks to big meals. Hot and cold drinks available. Please note this restaurant doesn't open as late as it used too years ago! The toilets are clean and well maintained. They serve and cater for vegetarians too and the place is good for family's.

Restaurant met mooi uitzicht op de klok die centraal op de rotonde staat. Prima biertje hier te krijgen en ook maar hier wat gegeten. Bestellen doe je aan de bar en je moet het daar ook zelf halen. Rib eye steak was redelijk, wel veel vet maar dat is normaal. Prima frietjes erbij en een kleine salade. Alles bij elkaar niet zoo bijzonder en ook niet echt goedkoop. Er zijn betere restaurants in Skegness maar voor een keer is het te doen.

Before a performance at the Embassy theatre, we stopped here with a friend for dinner, about 6pm. Menu has a good amount of choices, very reasonable prices. We all settled for £9.95 cod or place with chips, and choice of mushy peas, garden peas or beans. Also available was curry sauce or gravy. The price included a slice of bread and butter and tea or coffee. Large pot of tea = 2 cups of tea each. They were busy but our meals delivered in a short time. Great batter and fish, all excellent, staff helpful and friendly, the biggest wait was to pay for it at a booth. Would recommend.

Great location, great fish and chips. Staff helpful and welcoming. Can be a bit noisy at times if young children are creating up and not corrected by parents. You may have to wait a bit at times for a table when it is busy. On our visit it was ok.

We have been visiting for quite a few years. First time this year and the menu has changed. My wife loved the ploughman's. Its gone. Very disappointed.

Second time at a clock restaurant and again ordered a prawn cocktail and was told that they did not have any prawns don’t put them on your menu if you do stock them . Ordered the soup and chicken bites which was ok but not great. Will not be returning.

We stopped in here to have a fish and chip meal..it has really gone downhill since our last visit..was almost uneatable..will not go back..staff were Ok

We`ve popped in here for lunch whenever we have been to Skegness for a few years now, used to be real good. Now OK so we opted for the Senior Citizens Fish and Chips but Oh dear, the meals are going down hill. The Chips quite anaemic and the fish altho good was no bigger than a childs amount. It`s starting to go down hill be careful or you will lose custom.

Tried this once more but, the result is as bad as I previously reviewed, AWFUL. Shouldn't gone there again but, I thought I would give this one more try. WRONG of me.

We went for a late bite. We ordered scampi and chips and fish and chips. The fish and scampi were both fine however the chips tasted awful, the oil needed replacing.

After living in skegness over 10 today we visited what is now called Gussets fish and chips, amazong!! Me and my wife ordered the fish platter - cod, fishcake, battered sausage with good helping of chips and a side. I enjoyed the lot and the place has had a make over and features little booths all themed like beach huts, staff are friendly and place is clean and has great views of the clock tower and you can sit and watch the world go by. Nice place and we will visit again. Great kids menu my 3 year old had a burger all good quality and priced well

Had a great meal in here and very good value. Would deff recomend a for a quick meal when out and about.

We hadn't been here for some time. But we'd seen the name had changed to Husseys and the interior had changed so we thought we'd try it again. We sat in one of the beach hut themed booths what a novel idea. I wasn't too hungry so had a chip cob which filled me up and was very nice. My hubby had fish and chips which he soon demolished but did let me try some fish which was beautiful. The price was quite reasonable too. Will definitely come again.

When I knew I was coming to Skegness for the first time in over a decade, I had this place I mind for my evening meal. I couldn't remember the name of it, I just remembered its location, on Sandbeck Arcade right next to the Skegness Clock Tower (hence its name).

Went to the clock restaurant today. Got sat and the table and then left for 15 mins and ignored. People who came in after us then got served so we left. Shame because it’s looked amazing inside with the decor.

Very young staff, podium for seating which resulted in young staff saying hiya and pointing where to sit. Had to ask twice for bread & butter butter was just short of frozen. Fish was excellent chips served cold! Peas served in a horrible polystyrene cup. Tea very hot and good taste. General decor appalling! So moving forward, young people can give excellent service at the podium the greeting needs to be good afternoon, table for two? This is an excellent booth I have available! Not difficult. Get rid of the polystyrene tubs! Just put peas on a plate we don't need more rubbish to recycle. Decor good grief, awful rip it out and start again, customers want bright and clean lines not horrible pretend beach huts!. Food! Excellent fish - work on this make great chips and peas to go with it! Price was reasonable, with great decor and service it wouldn't even come into the equation.

Came in for lunch today. Food was nice. although 'limited menu' wanted the regular fish meal deal but no regular fish only large, so went with that & tbh it was a small fish. Tasty but I certainly wouldn't rush back.

1st time in here, it was evening & hardly anyone in, this was the end of June, , sell a limited amount of alcohol, , fish & chips ok but nothing special, to me it's a typical seaside fish & chip restaurant.

When we went it was to give it a 2nd chance. It wasn't that busy. We waited to be seated by someone who must have had a bad day, service was slow and manners were lacking. Tables dirty and after waiting for ten mins we walked out. Prices are high and there are better places around at better value, with more staff that actually care if you enjoy your meals.

We came in on spur of the moment as food looked nice from outside. Husband had fish n chips I had battered sausage n chips. Mine was very nice batter was lovely and so was chips. My husband said that was the best fish ever and he has tasted a few. We would certainly recommend this restaurant and would happily go back.

We always stop here for lunch when we're in Skegness. It's warm and friendly and you never have to wait long for a waitress or for your food. We had the OAP fish, chips and mushy peas with bread and butter and a choice of tea or coffee. All for under £8 each. Delicious food served with a smile.

Visited on a saturday at lunch time. Looks a very clean restaurant and good location by the seaside. I paid £8 for the regular cod and chips. The fish was fresh and the batter crispy but rather small for the price. I would expect this size fish and chips for no more then £5, which I would've happily paid.

always fancied goin in the clock thought it was a eat in chippy. went inside staff were fine ordered, people who came in after got their meal before us. when we finally got ours i had fish n chips n baked beans. fish was nice as were the beans chips were awful, you could tell they had been cooked a while as luke warm and yuk.cup of tea was ok with it. wife had toasted t cake n coffee again coffee ok had to leave tea cake it was like cardboard and this is not a cheap place, very overpriced for what we had,there are far better places to eat.

My wife and I arrived in Skegness late lunchtime and after we reccied the area we went into the Clock for lunch. I'll tell it as it was.

Came to Skegness seafront for the day and stumbled across the Clock restaurant. Should have taken how empty the place was as a warning. Grumpy old blonde lady seated us a took our order. She then returned to say there was no ploughmans as chef had no cheese. Came back with a plastic basket which held our cutlery, serviettes and paper bill. The cutlery was clearly not washed properly andcwe made the waitress aware, she then brought back clean cutlery. We then waited quite a while for an empty restaurant, at time of ordering only one other table there had customers. The food eventually arrived by a more friendlier server. First impression they were good portions of food however the chips were slightly covered in specks of black, like burnt flecks probably from the fryer. Lots of bad chips too, some with eyes done clearly bruised potatoes and done just inedible. We finished and then had to take the paper bill yo the original server at a weird little kiosk nextvyovtge entrance. All very strange. We certainly wouldnt recommend or revisit. Non greasy fish and chips! We met this couple on the top of a double decker heading into Skegness town and the chap sticks as eating chips in our chat we said we were going to get fish and chips and he said GO to the clock restaurant it's brill! It was and if you get the special £7.00 you get fish chips slice bread and cup of tea! We also had two asides beans and coleslaw! Coleslaw home made 'yum'! And to be honest we had enough without the asides lol! Staff brill too! And loads of space well good!

Went to the coast on a whim recently ( set off to go food shopping and Ended up in Skegness!!!!). When we arrived we were both very hungry as we had missed breakfast thinking we would eat at the supermarket. As we crossed the road there was the Clock Restaurant and l wish we had carried on walking. I had the fish and chip special and my husband the ham and eggs. I don't know what the fish and chips were fried in but it had a terrible taste. The best thing on the plate was the mushy peas.

Every time I come to Skegness I have to visit here for a meal. They provide really nice food which is reasonably priced. The customer service was impeccable!

Soggy batter on the cod, chips reheated from the day before, all covered in a black crumb out of the fryer obviously. Did pay the special price of £7.99 luckily as was pointed out by the waitress but the staff look unhappy in their job, and I was told they are told not to mention the specials if the customer doesn’t notice the difference in price. Other half had breakfast and wasn’t impressed much either. Only chose this place due to it looking good from outside but it was a let down.

Had the two mini Fish and chips with a pot of tea for two, not bad fish and chips but not exceptional. Friendly helpful staff, quick service. It was good value for money and would call again if in Skegness.

There are plenty of fish & chip restaurants to choose from along the front at Skegness The Clock looked from the outside to be less crowded than the others and the prices seemed most competitive. Our party of five had the traditional fish and chip lunch all of us enjoyed the ample portions provided, good value for money. Well recommended!!

A good value for money place for Lunch..most of us had fish and chips..which was very good..like most places..seemed like could do with more staff..service was a little slow.

We had the 2 x mini fish and chip deal. It was a fantastic deal. Enough food for us. The service was excellent as well!

Went for lunch and had the special, fish chips mushy peas for two plus a generous pot of tea with three teabags in the pot, and I love strong tea.

Basically a chip shop were you can sit. I had the lemon sole goujons which were very nice, others in my family enjoyed their meals too (scampi, nuggets, burger).

After a 2hour journey The Clock was the first place we stopped for something to eat. Very nice inside. Ordered our food but after a 45 mins wait and still no food when asked how much longer for food we got told that our order ticket had been lost and they were just starting to cook now we left.

Love this place loads of choice on the menu. The price i paid was good for the quality of food. Had the smoked haddock fish cakes and chips. Plenty on my plate was full when i left. Friendly staff. Had lovely view of the clock from the table. Look forward to going there again

Considering the price we paid for fish and chips for seven of us, the portions were small and not even a slice of lemon for garnish. It was a very busy Sunday and after eating there we knew why everywhere else was full and they had lots of tables available. Won't be going there again.

We came to Skegness to the aquarium for a dive experience ,we came to this restaurant as we came a couple of years ago and it was lovely then and now .would highly recommend

Fish and chips... Let's face it two ingredients, so when one has been reheated from earlier, but still cold because you can't reheat to much or it will burn, then I think £7.95 takes the pee, and the staff were useless and before I go I don't like being told where I'm going to sit.

Passed many times so visited today.The staff were pleasant and cheery.The food was cold and my chicken burger was on a dry roll and the chicken looked as if it was pressed .The tea was good! We were also overcharged.we will not be back .Please turn the music down....

We visited here with our young daughter. The mature lady who greeted us (I use ‘greeted’ in a loose term) was not who I’d have at the front of house. It was almost like we were causing her extra work! Younger waitress was lovely and smiley. Food not bad but when we asked mature waitress about the menu/allergy info, she didn’t know nor showed any interest. Such a shame as we’ve been before and had good service.

We always go to the clock because the restaurant is clean and the service is great and the food is cooked fresh and tastes great really must visit one of the best restaurants in skegness

looked busy and nice from outside me and my family a group of 7 decided to try for some lunch was greeted told were to sit not showed,we sat in two booths next to each other looked at menu no one came and said hello or asked if we wanted to order drinks,tables around us not been cleared full of dirty plates waited 20mins then went to speak to the lady's greeting people finally some one came to take our orders took a while when arrived was warm not hot only good point was kids meal were nice will not be returning

Food was nice and there was good portions served, only downfall was it was a bit chilly in there and the food went cold before we could finish it.

Evening food was really nice but not so keen on breakfasts. I had sausage bap but the bap was so dry it crumbled and they smothered it in butter and sausages weren’t that nice and we were first people in but some of our food felt out of date

As a family we thought we would opt for the clock as it looked an attractive option considering others we ordered pie and chips and fish and chips

Visited here on our second night on holiday, nice size portions and lovely food, would definitely go again. Prices reasonable and friendly staff.

Breakfast was the order of the day and with 2 hungry children we called in here. The menu read Big Ben breakfast which sounds just right as the kids and wife went for the smaller options. I was horrified when the large breakfast was only the same size as kids and they were a very poor portion. My kids were hungry still hungry after leaving the shop. Cheap sausage and beans that were tasteless. This restaurant is about profit only serving cheap food and poor potion.

Called in yesterday as it looked like a clean place to eat and not like many of the greasy spoon type cafes offering breakfast. Noticed that a standard breakfast was £6.99 so thoughts were must be good at that price! How wrong was I!! Extremely cheap sausage to the point they had that much cereal in them they’d have given a bowl of cornflakes a run for their money, then to top it all deep fried in old oil....absolutely vile! Then the beans, cheaper than cheap quality to the point they were a cream colour as they’d been watered down that much there was no juice.

Visited yesterday teatime with a party of six; we haven’t been to Skegness in years and given the heat outside we were attracted by the outside appearance of cleanliness, air conditioning and disabled toilet (for an elderly member of our party).

Great fish and chips but with plenty of other options on the menu. The staff are very welcoming and very quick service even though it was really busy.

Every time we've visited previously it's always been great. However, this visit there was my family and a friend's family. We arrived and were seated promptly along with another group. Our orders were taken quickly and got our drinks. Then we were in there an hour before our food came. They weren't busy and the table who arrived and ordered at the same time had theirs and had left! I could have understood if they were busy but they weren't as we went in just after 6pm. A member of staff walked round and I actually saw the panic on her face that we were still seated without food. They came over once and said food was on its way this was after half an hour..Our kids were getting tired and hungry. I had to go and find a member of staff 15 minutes later to ask what was happening and they then brought our food out which they had also messed up. I had ordered the haddock and chips and mine looked like a child's portion. I left hungry. They said they took our drinks off but it was not reflected in the bill.as much as the fish was cooked lovely we will not be returning.

Have used this place quite a bit over the years and have noticed the general decline, we gave it one last chance yesterday and that's it now we are done , chips needed a couple more minutes on the fryer, fish batter tasteless and greasy , overpriced compared to the many surrounding chip shops and a waitress that was absolutely disinterested,won't be going back.

Waited ages to be seated. Waited ages for order to be taken. Waited ages for the overpriced food. Teapot dribbled all over. Staff walking round chatting to each other. Just don't bother, go somewhere else. Food wasn't to bad.

Visited for lunch. Took ages for order to be taken although it wasn't that busy. They brought mine and my husband's food out. Five minutes later my toddlers hadn't arrived. I had to ask for it. Food wasn't great and service was poor. We had to keep getting up to ask the waitresses for things such as sauce and cutlery as they were just standing around chatting. On payment, when asked if everything was okay, I said not really and explained that my toddlers meal hadn't arrived so we'd eaten most of ours. She apologised but didn't offer a refund. Wouldn't return there.

We come here every time we visit Skegness as we know we are guaranteed brilliant food. There was six of us and something for everyone. The food is amazing the portions are huge, the prices are very reasonable and the staff are lovely. What else is there to say

Resturaunt priced burgers that I wouldn’t even feed to my dog. You can honestly get a better meal from McDonald’s. Menu says fresh chicken burger it came out it was a frozen processed mcchicken sandwich. Beef burgers were full of fat. Only thing that was enjoyable was the chips and the coleslaw. Even the salad was brown. Never again!! £40+ wasted it got left on the plate. Go elsewhere unless you just fancy a plate of chips!

Quite expensive for what you get. Nearly £10 for a standard prawn salad, nothing special. Wouldn’t asked for something else instead of sausage and chips however didn’t want to cause a fuss. Wouldn’t go again

Went there for late lunch. Ordered two haddock, chips and mushy peas £9.05 each and two knickerbocker glory for dessert. The meals arrived and they brought the dessert at the same time!!! Our fish was passable but the chips were scrappy and so hard they were inedible. We are the fish and left the chips. When the waitress came to clear away I mentioned the chips and she said she would let “them” know whoever “them” were. The no offer of a refund of any sort. I probably should have insisted on a refund but didn’t. We won’t be going back there. Looking at other reviews it seems others have had similar experiences. If you want fish and chips in Skegness I would suggest you look elsewhere!!!

Visited for breakfast. Lovely clean tables, great, smiley service. Toilets lovely and clean. Ordered a breakfast and poached egg on toast with a pot of tea. Breakfast served was lovely. Couldn't fault it at all. Lovely big windows and watch the world go by. Recommended!

This cafe does excellent fish and chips. They do do other food as well it’s very clean and welcoming.

Visited here with my husband. I ordered regular haddock and chips £7.95 and my husband ordered the all day breakfast £5.99 which included a pot of tea. The tea tasted absolutely disgusting. I don't know where they get their tea bags from but it must be the cheapest they could find and there was tea leaves floating in the pot too!! The all day breakfast was swimming in so much grease that it ruined the dish as all you could taste was the grease. The bacon was far too fatty and looked like it was literally just dipped in a frying pan of mucky fat. My fish was not too bad but again it was way to greasy and the chips were so hard, and scrappy that they were inedible. Definitely not worth the money and safe to say we won't be visiting again. You can get better chips from the chippy next door at a fraction of the price. So disappointed with this place.

Called in on the spur of the moment. I had the cod and chips with mushy peas, well cooked large piece of fish and plenty of chips my wife has a prawn sandwich, stated that she did not want the salad to save on waste. Meal arrived with salad but no Rosemarie sauce. Waitress soon corrected the mistake and gave extra sauce. All in all a really nice place to eat, clean and tidy throughout.

Just had regular fish and chips here, very nice, all cooked just right.

Myself, my partner and 5 year old daughter visited this restaurant as a last meal out for our weekend away to Skegness. We were welcomed at the 'take a seat' sign by a friendly face and polite lady who showed us where to be seated. We ordered food and drinks and though their menu advertises they are not a fast food restaurant ( with a brilliant little quote on the menu I must add) - it was actually served pretty quick and we were not left waiting long at all! I had ordered mushy peas on the side of my fish and chips and I was impressed and amazed that my peas came separately to the plate, giving the customer the option of eating alone or adding to the plate. (Myself being a fussy eater, it definitely is the little things that can make a customer smile!) I can not complain at the service my family have received this evening, the fish was absolutely beautiful - the best I have had in Skegness, real chip shop style chips. My partner had a six ounce new Yorker burger and again could not find a fault. Great food, great staff and a lovely welcoming environment. 5 star service all around and we certainly know where we will be coming next time for our fish and chips by the seaside!

I was hungry yesterday after driving from Nottinham to spend the day in Skegness. Reliving my chidhood memories. The Clock Restaurant is a very prominant establishment right accross from the famous clock tower, hence its name.

Myself and my partner always visit this Restaurant when we visit Skegness as it never fails to disappoint .

We had breakfast here today. The waiter was very friendly and welcoming. There were a couple of minor issues, wrong drinks and missing sausages off one breakfast but the waiter was apologetic and fixed it quickly :) The breakfast was delicious and the restaurant was spotlessly clean. We would definitely visit again.
