Excellent service would recommend

I have been to the Clifton sausage many times now; every time I come I have been very impressed. The food is consistently excellent. I thoroughly recommend the Sunday roast, bar snacks and (of course) sausages and mash. Each time the service has flawless too, especially from Sabine. I look forward to coming again soon.

If you usually eat supermarket sausages, even the premium range, prepare to be blown away. After a few days eating various cuisine in Bristol we were in need of something familiar and comforting but this meal still managed to be something special

If you like sausage and mash this is the place to go. Lovely food at a decent price (circa £15 for a main). Good location in clifton village as well!

One of my favourite restaurants/gastropubs in Bristol. Food is delicious and has good alternative options to sausages if it’s not for everyone in your group. Veggie options available. The bar is excellent - great range of wines, spirits and beers. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

I stumbled upon this restaurant while visiting England from North America back in October, and it turned out to be an absolute gem. The food was exceptional especially the pork belly and the apple crumble, which were both incredibly flavorful and well prepared. What truly set the experience apart, however, was the outstanding service. I asked for recommendations and was fortunate to be served by a waitress named Poppy Conway from what I remember. She went above and beyond in every way—friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic. She not only made excellent food suggestions, but also offered local tips for my night out in Bristol. It felt like having a local tour guide and a host all in one. To top it off, the manager came by to personally introduce herself, which was a thoughtful touch and made the visit feel even more welcoming. Poppy was without a doubt, the best waitress I encountered during my time in England. I’d deffo return to this restaurant if I’m back in England simply because of the exceptional service she provided. Highly recommended!

We were recommended Clifton Sausage by a local and visited on a Sunday. The Sunday menu is fantastic because it offers all the sausage dishes in addition to a classic roast. Really reasonable prices for a set menu. Roast portion size and quality was delicious. A couple suggestions: Could the restaurant offer the option to mix and match your sausages to allow people to try more flavours? Add a side of custard to the crumble. Reasonable prices for a large glass of red as well (£8) Lovely meal and we will definitely be back.

Abby was lovely and attentive - food was amazing - fish dish was impeccable while my partner enjoyed the special chorizo sausage. Great place!

Sunday lunch was lovely well worth the money the sausage and mash was also good sadly we had to wait over 30mins for the meal to arrive and 40mins after we finished our main meal for the dessert also had to ask twice where it was, my guest had there desserts 1st and were finished by the time I had mine, we were then pushed for time so did not check the bill as we should have, I think we were over charged unless a coke and orange juice cost over £20, although I enjoyed the food I would think twice about going again

I was a silly sausage to think the veggie options would be great. It was okay, no Senhor Uva though

Went at lunchtime, maybe 12 people in the restaurant. We both ordered the standard sausage and mash but it took so long to be served and the food was far to salty for us and the gravy very gloopy. The sausages were nice. Lots of better options in Bristol.

Good service, overall excellent meal, although felt cauli cheese a bit dry and felt as though has been hanging around awhile. Particularly enjoyed the pork crackling, well done just the way I like it. Ate wat too much but will try and remember that when we come back!

Nothing special. There are better sausages to be had, the mash was fine, gravy looked like Bisto. Not expensive so go.if you are hungry and a bit skint

Domingo a las 6 pm - 2 asados y una salchicha y champ mash - comida absolutamente deliciosa, me han dicho que la mejor salchicha de la historia! La carne de res era muy rara, pero así es como me gusta - puede haber sido demasiado raro para algunos. La col roja también era tan sabrosa, lástima que se hubieran quedado sin queso de coliflor, pero era tarde en el día. Los yorkshires eran un poco pastosos, pero se comieron sin embargo! Estábamos sentados junto a la puerta, que era bastante calado por decir lo menos - así que si sientes el frío 🥶 pide una mesa lejos de la puerta! Nuestra camarera era muy agradable y servicial. Gran ambiente. Consideré golpear a una estrella por el calado y el yorkshire pastoso, pero todo lo demás era tan bueno que lo compensó!

Amazing food!!! There is no need to say any more.

We were seated in a quiet, airy area of the restaurant. The burger was a highlight of the meal; the bun was soft yet held everything together without getting soggy, and the bacon & pickle added a wonderful crunch to the burger. The hand-cut fries & coleslaw were a great side as the fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside & tasted delicious with or without sauce whilst the coleslaw balanced my main meal out nicely & was seasoned perfectly. the latte I had was a great accompaniment to my filling meal

Estábamos sentados en una zona tranquila y ventilada del restaurante. La hamburguesa fue un punto culminante de la comida; el bollo era suave, pero mantuvo todo junto sin empaparse, y el tocino y el pepinillo agregaron un maravilloso crujiente a la hamburguesa. La mano - patatas fritas cortadas y ensalada de col eran un gran lado, ya que las patatas fritas eran crujientes por fuera y esponjosas por dentro y sabía delicioso con o sin salsa, mientras que la ensalada de col equilibró mi comida principal muy bien y fue condimentado perfectamente.

Vino para el almuerzo del domingo, estaba bastante ocupado alrededor de las 2 pm, pero la comida era de primera calidad - recomendaría el asado del domingo. Sin embargo escuchamos a uno de los chefs gritar y maldecir a un servidor de la cocina, lo que fue una pena.

We came here for lunch on New Year’s Eve. The food was good, however we had a slight issue as we were hoping for the special menu but that wasn’t available at lunch. They explained this when we got there but it was ambiguous before so we were a little disappointed.

Food was fine, very salty. Meal was ruined by overlooking all the waiting staff who were dipping their hands into the chip bowl on the pass, then bringing our plates over whilst still chewing. Pretty gross.

We had Sunday lunch here. From ordering it took an hour for our food to arrive. The Manageress was really good about it, she explained the Kitchen was having a nightmare and made a substantial discount to our bill. The food was amazing and well worth the wait. The restaurant was very busy and clearly that’s because the food is so good.

Food was lovely (apart from the over cooked bacon with the liver), service was pretty good, albeit we did have to ask for more drinks rather than be asked, but the main problem we had was the lady (we assume the manager) who kept shouting from the top of the steps to the kitchen. She was very loud and it interrupted our conversations. We were sat in the middle area near the toilets so we were probably affected the most. It was also quite cold, maybe there was a door open near the kitchen which is where the cold air was coming from.

Uno de mis lugares favoritos para comer en Clifton. El personal es siempre educado y atento y la comida siempre es deliciosa. La única desventaja era que se habían agotado los deliciosos rollos de salchichas, pero nos informaron de esto mientras estábamos sentados.

Comida muy sabrosa, recomiendo actualizar a la opción de sapo en el agujero. Personal amable. La comida estaba un poco lenta saliendo. Y tenga en cuenta que es bastante ruidoso tan complicado para aquellos con problemas auditivos.

I haven't been here for over a decade. Came here for my wife's 40th today for lunch. It is utterly fantastic. A Wonderful member of staff looked after us the entire time. And from start to finish we were smiling. We each had different courses , the portion sizes were fantastic, and the food tasted next level 👌 would not hesitate recommending this restaurant to anyone looking for a hearty comforting meal.

We celebrated our Christmas Dinner and it was very pleasant. Good food and fast service.

I often visit for post match drinks with friends however the team really delivered for our work Christmas party with great food and service throughout for what was a great evening enjoyed by a large party of 25. Thanks very much everyone!

We visited with 4 of us for the Christmas lunch menu. The vegetarian starter was very tasty but the sauce wasn’t great on the side and the main was very salty. Veg looked a little sad so I think fresh would be best. Granted I am vegetarian going to a sausage restaurant but I wasn’t too keen on the veggie sausages. We were the only table to begin with and it was quite quiet.

We came on a Sunday night, very busy. Had to wait for the reserved table. Sausage and fish were good. The children's food suboptimal (e.g. burger just a patty in a bun).

Had a Christmas meal here. It was pre-booked, with all selections communicated well prior to us arriving. Unfortunately it took 45 minutes for our starters to arrive - apparently there were two other large groups ahead of us. We arrived at 19:45, and we were served our desserts at some time around 22:00hrs. Once the food came out it really was good. With the added bonus of the staff having noted who was having what so there was no having to rely on a 6 week old memory. It was really noisy, but I suspect that's part & parcel of having a meal out at Christmas, as well as the decor within the restaurant.

Booked a table of 8 for me and my friends via a phone call. Was seated by our server, promptly ordered drinks and then our food. The decor and atmosphere is amazing for any meal setting whether that be a meal with in-laws and children or a date nite with the partner. Starters were served first all at once and once starters had been finished with plates cleared there was a small amount of time before all our mains arrived at the same time. I ordered the Clifton Sausage with smash, gravy and Yorkshire pudding (a +£2 additional option (get it!!)). The food was a 10/10 you need to try it. One of them where I want to bring my misses to try the food and overall great experience.

Lovely gaff with great portions

We had a lovely midweek meal here earlier this week. The food was fresh and full of flavour, the service quick once we had ordered and the portion sizes were generous. We used first table and were sat in a quieter part of the restaurant with a little less atmosphere so would love to return and sit up top.

Food was nice but service a bit slow and erratic, although friendly. I know it was a Sunday afternoon and very busy but staffing levels should be sufficient to cope.

I came here for a Sunday roast, end up becoming a regular for their roast dinner. The food is reasonably priced and has amazing quality. Comes piping hot and fresh. The sausages here are to die for!! The staff are incredibly friendly and extremely helpful. I have taken a few people to this restaurant and they love it! I highly recommend this place!!

Have always wanted to visit this restaurant and it did not disappoint!! The food was absolutely delicious, I had a lamb mint sausage with mash and a side if carrots and parsnips and omg I could eat that again and again! The dessert was delicious too (we had a gluten free cheesecake) HIGHLY recommend!

Booked here for Sunday lunch menu and I would definitely recommend. I had 2 starters as I was so hungry, the soup was delicious, it had that wonderful homemade feel and texture to it. The cheese soufflé was good, fun texture, but the flavour was a little bland, not as cheesy as I had anticipated. The roast itself was wonderful, my friend and I got the combo roast and our server Nicky was lovely enough to give us extra beef as we did not like turkey. The gravy was thick, flavourful. Personally I prefer my beef pink, but I was not disappointed! It was so tender, and so was the pork. The pork was amazing, so meaty, very little fat, and super tender, it passed the fork test. The sausage was a little lacklustre, quite salty, and a bit of a flat texture. Overall, it was delicious. My only disappointment was the service. Our server Nicky was lovely, but it was quite slow and at times, did not feel very attentive. We had to try to catch someone to get us another drink. However, I understand it’s Sunday and the restaurant was getting somewhat busy - good sign! If you want a chilled afternoon, not in a rush and good food. I would 100% recommend.

Visited here on a Sunday to find one of the best Sunday lunches I've ever eaten. The combo Sunday lunch had generous portions of turkey, beef, pork and pigs in blankets. Potatoes were lovely and fluffy inside. Broccoli was perfectly cooked and the red cabbage - which usually I don't really like - was delicious. Star of the show was the extra of cauliflower cheese which was so tasty. All served with a delicious gravy. The food set a new bar for Sunday lunch and the stafff were very helpful and attentive. Great atmosphere. As we left, we felt bad for the people being turned away so book to avoid disappointment !

Booked for Saturday evening to catch up on family who are studying at Bristol. Fantastic ambiance, delicious food with a wide range of menu. Staff could not do enough for us as well accommodating our need for space. Will definitely be returning

Just wonderful quality food cooked superbly. A little cramped at the back of the restaurant but it really is my only critique. That and the fact after the marvellous (shared) belly bites and the signature sausage tasting plate, I couldn’t even face looking at the desert menu - a first for me!

Love this place as a bar and restaurant. Great food and good choice of wines. Bar snacks pretty good and the staff very friendly and helpful. Only one thing to eat here and they are very good!! Now has seating or more seating outside so great to watch the world go by. Advise booking at weekends.. such a great vibe

Really good Sunday roasts. They are massive so be careful ordering additional sides... I ain't a small fella but only just got through my meal. Cool place in a cool area.

We brought some friends here for lunch on Saturday from the Isle of Man. The food was excellent, we were all delighted with our meals. My only observation was that whilst mine host was welcoming and helpful at the bar, the other members of staff seemed somewhat detached when they had to serve drinks. However, l would go there again very happily, but a warm welcome would be appreciated.

We visited as a large group for a meal and were very impressed, particularly with the tasty food and a range of sausage! The service wasn’t rapid, but was very attentive and reasonable quick for such a large group. There were 2 young children with the party and these were well-catered for and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend the sausage tasting plate for first time visitors and the nibbles and sharers were excellent too!

Very friendly atmosphere as the staff, always checking if I was alright 🥰 Service: I had to wait 30 Min to get served, they said they were busy with big tables downstairs. Maybe bringing some bread or quick appetizers for the wait would have been perfect. Didn't know Sausages could taste this amazing! If you want something really truly British and you're in the area, make sure to come here! Well worth it. Also, everybody working here was lovely especially our server, Leisha. Makes you feel right at home.

We were walk ins on a fairly busy Friday night. However, the staff accommodated us. The food was incredible, flavours amazing and presentation fantastic. The only thing that let it down was the cleanliness of the restrooms. The soap dispensers were filthy, and the soap in the disabled toilet looked mouldy. It needed attention in corners that hadn't been cleaned for some time

Best sausage and mash I've had in England (many visits as my husband is English). Friendly service, local gins and a sticky toffee pudding I took 1/2 of 😋 (also not normal for me).

Simon, the owner, hosts a monthly wine tasting where he uses his knowledge and that of local independent wine merchants, to provide an evening of paired wines and food. We attended the Summer Barbecue evening where 5 wines were paired with 5 courses. The food was beautifully prepared and the wines explained expertly. A casual evening with a great atmosphere.

We stumbled across this place and decided to give it a go, and boy, am I glad we did! I opted for the vegan sausage, which was a total game-changer. Made with spicy chickpeas and roasted peppers, it was served with a creamy olive oil mash and a rich vegan gravy. Honestly, I was blown away by how good it was! This place is perfect if you’re looking for a meat-free alternative that actually tastes amazing. It’s a great starting point for anyone wanting to explore vegan or vegetarian British cuisine. The restaurant itself had a really nice vibe – minimalist and friendly, with a touch of elegance. It matched the food perfectly.

The food and service were great. . The bill included a 10% optional gratuity. It's not optional if it's already been added to the bill. This is poor practice. I would have been too embarrassed to ask for it to be removed in front of friends - as it was I paid quickly without noting the 10%. Also, this made a pint of beer £5.28, which feels too much to me. I suppose it's still reasonable against the prices some other Clifton establishments charge, but I prefer to pay a tip separately.

Belly pork was amazing but the burger was really poor unfortunately.........we went in early so they might not of been in full swing but really disappointing considering all the reviews we had read previously

Great location, friendly service and tasty food. The prawn starters were UNREAL - Wish I had more. I really liked the fact they served different flavours of sausages that I've never thought of. No problems at all from my side, I will be coming back and recommending to other people.
