Popped in for a girly catch-up at lunchtime. We all ordered from the light bite menu and were pleasantly surprised at the great value and quality of the food. It was Excellent! The staff were very attentive and we didn’t have to wait long at all for our food. What an absolute diamond place in the village ❤️

After I suddenly lost my partner, soulmate and love of my life on the 4th September 2024 we called a family for Sunday lunch as a family as there was no way I could cook a meal. What a gem of a pub, Steven and I jad eaten here when we moved to Warton and had always enjoyed the food, but, that wet Sunday in September proved how much this establishment is part of the community, the Sunday lunch was superb, the grandsons were treated like 2 little princes' and I was made to feel so welcome by Zoe who shared my grief with me making me feel like I was family. The food was fantastic, the wine beautiful and the staff absolutely fantastic. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making us so welcome, your kindness knows no end. We have been back at least 4 times since that Sunday and it has on every occasion been superb. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Karen Burgoyne

The Clifton arms or as it was called the pickwick tavern has always been a bit of a white elephant but after hearing “new couple in there” and great reviews I decided to try it out !! What a fantastic job they have done lovely clean pub with super staff and a food menu to die for. Went in on the pie night and honestly the food was superb !! All homemade, well presented, tasty and served with a smile !! What more do you want? And the price was more than reasonable !! Looking for a nice bottle of wine ? Try the Malbec at only £20 !! I will definitely be using here on a regular basis ! Next visit already arranged to try the Sunday roast. Tony,Zoe and team you are smashing it !! And turned a white elephant in to a golden goose

We enjoyed a Sunday evening with friends at the Clifton Arms and predictably we all ordered a Sunday roast. Everything came out exactly as ordered and they even catered for our Vegan friend by making vegan gravy which was a nice touch, great food & service and reasonable prices so everything was in order for us.

I have actually had to stop eating half way through to write this review as one the portion sizes are generous but mainly because this place is that amazing I felt I had already witnessed enough to leave great feedback. It was my birthday when visiting on the 09th but as I had been so busy at work we didn’t book anything, at the last minute we thought we would try here. This is our new favourite place, the food is amazing, good quality ingredients with bags of flavour. What a treat it has been to visit here and the staff are so welcoming. I cannot fault anything. Thank you for making my birthday special in the end.

We are looking forward to our future visits to enjoy the great food and superb customer service Thanks

The food in this restaurant is on a higher level. The sirloin steak and pork belly were outstanding. My partner likes steak well done (no blood) and so it was but just well done, succulent, juicy and so tasty. The triple cooked chips are like no other - tasty succulent and creamy and the duaphinoise potato equal to them. The lemon and lime cheesecake and apple crumble, well you have to experience this at least once and enjoy with a smooth red Malbec. The service is excellent, warm and welcoming and though the restaurant and bar were very busy, gave time to chat. This quality is delivered with prices on a par with local restaurants. Looking forward to our next visit!

Having chosen our meal from the online menu, to go there and have a totally different menu spoilt our very rare family get together, I believe this is due to outside management, not the pub itself, however I sadly would not return, the food was not cooked to an acceptable standard

Dropped in on the way home for Sunday lunch...although it was 6pm. The pub is under new management and the team are working hard to bring a tired pub back up to scratch. New carpets in the bar and a fresh coat of paint in the restaurant have really transformed the place into a warm welcoming pub. The food was excellent, served promptly and piping hot, and everything was fresh. Will be going back for more and will certainly be trying one of their dry aged steaks soon.

Drove past this pub many times and wondered what it is like for food, and just to say that I never fancied going in as the word I had heard of it didn't inspire me, but then this week I was told it had recently changed management and was fantastic, the food and everything so I thought I would give it a try. (the word had come via my sister). So I collected my friend and off we went, although my sister had given it a good rating I went with open mind, upon entering we was greeted by a very friendly member of staff with a warm welcome, asked if they was serving food and told yes, ordered some drinks and went to table, selected on the menu salt and peeper chicken strips, nice chunk piece's of chicken with a salad lovely sauce on it. now for the mains we tried the steak and ale pie, which with past experience in other places I wasn't expecting anything to blow my mind, how wrong can this idiot be, the meat was heaven on the tongue, the gravy was the best experience you could have with clothes on, and what I really liked was the pastry top was not like most place's with 3inch deep puff pastry, it was just the right thickness well cooked to perfection, the veg and everything was cooked just as it should be, and unlike a lot of places it was hot to the last mouthful, even the veg, if I had to be critical (and I 'am) I would have liked my coffee a bid hot to start with, but that is me being picky. Now I like to look at one or two bad reviews before I do mine to get a general feeling of opinion, it usually won't affect my mind, UNLESS,, like one I did read titled "my review" done in August this year, 1 Star, worst pub grub they have had, well the only thing I can say to that is maybe you was in a different Clifton Arms or the new management hadn't yet taken over, as I understand it they have taken their own chef with them, and today they are turning out fantastic food, I suggest you go back and tr4y again and if you are still of the same opinion I will pay your bill, I will be ringing them after this and tell them the same so they will have my number to contact me if you need it to be. On the subject of staff, the young lady that looked after us ( MYRION ) was very good at her job and very professional, and was a people person which is rare these days, and the gent who's name I did not get, ( they serve Blondes ) was just the same, the boss should be proud to have such staff, they are the front of house and good at it. Well done to the staff. THANK YOU for a wonderful meal. ***** I won't comment on all the menu till I have tried it.

Thought we had booked via website, but found out the website details are still going to previous owner so the Clifton Arms are not getting the bookings - so phone directly to get your reservation. 4 of us dined in and the service was excellent, attentive and the right amount of friendliness. Food, best meal, we all agreed, that we’d had in a while. 2 had linguine, 2 had belly pork. De-lic-ous! There was no rush to leave, we had dessert and drinks and had time to catch up with each other. Well done Clifton Arms, we hope to be back next time we are in town.

We were a regular party of 6 people and our first visit since refurbishment and change of tenant. Prices are reasonable with a fairly extensive menu. It is the cooking that impressed everyone. Not a single complaint from any member of our party. In fact unanimous praise. The only improvement I personally would suggest is is a increase in the chips and vegetables they are a bit on the slim side. With a bit of publicity after the reopening it should thrive.

Service was prompt although the barman mixed a couple of drinks up. This was quickly put to rights and wasn't a problem. The waiter wrote them down ok, we checked.. Food arrived after a brief wait and was a little different to the usual pub fayre. My Chicken Stilton with crispy bacon was just that..and delicious. One tiny criticism, the huge breast could have used a little more delicious sauce!.A very nice evening...and well worth another visit.

However, the warm bread accompanying it was delight. Other meals ordered were Steak and Ale pie—Chips, Veg, Gravy, plus extra Cauliflower Cheese. Verdict— Beautiful Steak Pie slice. What a refreshing change. This pub used to be pretty run down with awful food and an uninviting atmosphere to say the least. We heard it was under new Management from Sept 2019 and everyone is trying it out. I mean everyone in the local area! It has been redecorated to a high standard, it's warm and inviting, has a great selection of beers and wines and the food is to die for. A Gin Bar is also on the way. This week we've actually eaten there twice because it was so good. I can certainly recommend the Garlic Prawn starter, the Hunters Chicken, Beef Madras and delicious Bailey's ice cream for dessert. There's a great table just off the bar area which would be perfect for larger get togethers with family or friends and you could always tickle the ivories as there's a piano in the corner. You can also choose to eat in the bar or if you prefer it a bit quieter there's a dedicated restaurant area. Dogs are welcome so don't forget there's biscuits behind the bar! We hear there's a deli/café opening too in the next few weeks. I would certainly recommend this place, it's really changed and is definitely becoming the hub of the village.

House vodka is amazing. Food is to die for! I had the lasagne, partner had burger and our daughter the sausage. Not one complaint. Glad it's good again with it being our local will be in a lot. I recommend everyone to give this place a try and the new owners a decent chance. 5 star amazing

We had a lovely meal here one late afternoon after having a drive to Lytham. The welcome was lovely, the beer spot on and the food lovely and at a reasonable price. All was absolutely lovely. Then I went to the gents. Although it looked clean and tidy it absolutely stank. I would hope that it was a 'blip' but I'll never know (thankfully).

It was really nice to see my local pub starting to do food again. So, I gave it a try. My girlfriend and I were not dissapointed with the meal or the surroundings. The staff are friendly and helpful. Always useful when you have a pescatarian with concerns about gluten. My only dissapointment is that Trip Advisor can't get the location right. The Clifton Arms in the village of Bryning-with-Warton between Preston and Lytham and just down the road from Wrea Green. PR4 postcode.

Whilst the area is seeing a surge of 'Gastro Pubs', many indeed offering a great dining experience, it is really refreshing to see someone providing good hearty traditional cuisine with first class service. After many years in the doldrums the Clifton Arms aka Pickwick Tavern at Warton now fits the bill. Good food, good wine, good beer all reasonably priced... and a nice welcome and great service. Well done to all concerned.

This is now my local pub now there is a new landlord, in such a short time this landlord has turned this place around, it is clean and very pleasant staff. I have been in there for four meals now and on each occasion the food was first class and hot again the staff in the dining room were pleasant, as far as the pub is concerned it is spotless and the bar staff know what you want after your first drink very friendly place to have a drink or meal i will certainly be telling everyone, hope it continues to work to this high standard.

Family Christmas Dinner was the event. Lovely food, not overfaced and a leisurely pace that really suited the event. Their choice of wine for us was spot on and the service was excellent (sincere smiles all round). Full marks and very much appreciated hospitality.

Stumbled across this lovely little place completely by accident on the way home from a weekend in Blackpool, food was amazing, was well cooked and wait time was minimal, great friendly service and the best cuppa I'd had all weekend, will definitely visit again.

Popped in for lunch to be greeted by miserable staff, a child like chef dressed like a chav throwing a tantrum cause he had run out of garlic bread, a waiter dressed in ETO jeans and a hype tshirt running around being over apologetic to customers, a lady walking in an out of the kitchen throwing cutlery (or something very similar), we were served drinks in glasses with last nights lips still printed on the side then wen replaced came with free crust and all that before being served a meal not even rats would nibble on!! My partner ordered home made fish and chips for £7.95 it came and looked like a fish finger and was more rubbery than a bouncy ball with a hand full of frozen chips (not homemade!!) that was sent back, I ordered the BLT and although the menu clearly states comes with chips and coleslaw and is more money than just a sandwich it came with a blob of salad so we had to remind them of their menu.. Other people were sending their food back too.. My partner went to the toilets and although their was a sign on the door that said urinals only it failed to mention There was a huge puddle in the middle of the room and a draining rod poking out of the urinal.. the place is awful!! They need to hire a REAL chef and a plumber!!

Well, we have been 3 times now, and each time it shows more and more the total farcical lack of organisation and attention to detail. The first time we went - the food was ok, but its things like a colleague of mine orderd the Ham and Eggs - which no joke, on my mothers grave, it was the wafer thin ham from Tescos or other supermarkets we could mention. But was it laid out in a fancy manner to which you could disguise that fact? No - it was still in the same waved interlocked pattern as it was packed in some meat packing plant in Grimsby or wherever. The second time we went, the service was slow - and my mate ordered a jacket potato with cheese and beans, and that came out (eventually) in a bowl looking like a lasagne, even the waiter sorry server announced "Lasagne", but he had waited that long he would have taken a plate of s*it with sugar if that had been presented. My burger - which came out like a flat meatball than a handmade pattie of beef. Our third time, well one has to give the pub industry a chance these days - we all went down, and things had not improved at all. The chips had, they were the nice chunky ones - well for those who were luck to have been served first - then you got the very average frozen fries for the unlucky ones.I ordered bacon and eggs - to be told after 10 minutes, sorry we don't have that, can you order something else? I wasn't going to go for the ham and eggs - as we already knew that was Tesco Wafer Thin ham, so reluctantly I ordered the burger again, but asked this time that it didn't shrink down - to a glaring look from the server. It did come with white gunk to which I asked for none of that - at least she got the "no salad" and no shrinkage right, so I wasn't sad, cos 2 out of 3 ain't bad!But worse, my mate again was last - his chip butty came with skanky thin chips, our other colleagues ordered cheese toasties - that I think just had the brown lines drawn on them as clearly they couldn't have been cooked in anyway as the cheese hadn't melted at all. Others who ordered fish - couldn't have it.Lightning Club next time - you may not get a fork with your dinner, but at least its right and what you ordered.

Having recently been taken over and undergone a refurbishment, we thought we would give it a try. We went today (Sunday), and what a treat. Sunday lunch comprised of Beef or Pork and it was cooked perfectly. This was served with veg, Yorkshire pudding, Roast and mash potatoes. I then opted for a desert, which again was fantastic. Plenty of great food, and a great atmosphere in there too.

I visited this newly taken over / refurbished independent pub today. Happy to say having had the 'Sunday Roast' with choice of beef or pork, I opted for beef. The beef was not the type you sometimes find ( reheated packaged ) but a proper cut from joint.Served with fresh roasted vegetables (broccoli, parsnip, onion, potatoes & swede) and an individual gravy pot. Gluten FREE.As for taste...10 / 10

The Clifton Arms (formerly the Pickwick Tavern) have started doing food again - as of last week. The menu is good but not overcomplicated or too extensive. The first look at prices seems a bit on the high side, but when you see the portions and quality (all home made) you realize it is good value.I have had a madras on Wednesday curry night (£6.95 for curry, rice/chips, poppadom, naan bread and dips, plus a drink) and it was excellent. The meat tastes of meat rather than being part of the sauce. For Sunday lunch I had beef with all the trimmings for £7.50; again a lovely meal. If you want a pudding (I didn't because the dinner beat me) you can get it for £1 with your meal order. With friendly staff staff around, it is a great place eat and drink.

After visiting Gabriella's (same business owners) across the road and being informed that they had no breakfasts available at midday (wtf) we decided to visit Black Sheep and regretfully I won't be returning. Order placed relatively simply but this is when it went wrong. Waitress took our drinks to wrong table. Waited overly long for breakfast which was also taken to the wrong table. Then no cutlery. No offer of sauces or salt and pepper. I had to go and collect cutlery from another table. Food was cold, poached egg overcooked, bacon undercooked, toast buttered (I'd like to choose whether I have my toast buttered). Honestly was incredibly poor and we chose a local business over Wetherspoons up the way. AVOID!
