We regularly come to The Cliffs and have been doing so for over 15 years. It is usually our go to place to eat. We are not locals, but we are always greeted well both in and out of season. The food is very good for the price, the menu changes seasonally, but you will always find something great to eat. We had the Sunday dinner out of season which was fabulous and we also recently had the lobster, which was a real treat especially as it is local produce - which is much the same for rest of their menu. The restaurant is always very accommodating especially when we have come with younger members of our family. Our dog Mabel is also made very welcome by everyone too, plus there are treats available for purchase which certainly helps. Their entertainment is always good, from open mic nights to the weekly pub quiz, Halloween is also a top time to visit. The bar is well stocked and also has a good range of alcohol free. Nothing pretentious here, you get exactly what a good pub should offer. Josh and the crew are fabulous and always super friendly, we love coming here. It’s a thanks from us!

Food was good. Shame that the owner drew everyone’s attention to correcting one young member of staff by telling her what she hadn’t done ( which she actually had done) and calling her back every time she passed! No one would have noticed anything wrong otherwise! If you’re taking the night off just take it off and enjoy your drink!

We visited as a party of 12 & every one of us enjoyed our food. My partners scampi was just perfect & the king prawn tagliatelle the best I have ever had. The staff were friendly & professional & the prices fine. One little issue was the length of time we had to wait, considering we pre-ordered all our mains, but we were happy to wait.

Harty food, but a bit over facing, gigantic mains with huge quantities of swede carrot, red cabbage and cauliflour cheese, may suit some people, but a bit much and lacking presentation for us. Beach bar style decor, nice friendly waitresses but not super attentive, had to flag them down for more drinks and bill etc Malibu Prawns (Specials Starter) - good interesting take on a classic Fish Cake (Specials Starter) - Good (Mains) Lamb Shank and Veg wellington, both average, Yorkshire and stuffing were both very dry.

Five stars for this friendly, inviting pub with excellent food and great service. Visited here in December whilst on a family mini break. The weather was awful outside and the welcome was warm in the bar. We ate in the bar area because we had dogs, it was a great space and we were very comfortable. The food was excellent, every meal was outstanding - the best on our trip. Can recommend the lamb, beef and fish. The vegan meal was also really good. The cheesecake was spot on and the apple crumble delicious. Cannot fault the quality, service, menu or price. The team were extremely friendly, nothing was too much trouble, we felt at home and would highly recommend booking a table if you are in the area. Plenty of parking but imagine this place gets busy in the summer. The views of the coast are stunning! We walked the dogs on the beach after lunch. Well done to the team, you exceeded our expectations! Thank you

I cannot tell you how terrific this restaurant was. As a group of old friends we visited Morfa Nethyn for the weekend. I was tasked to find a restaurant for 7 of us including 2 dogs. Admittedly I took pot luck on the location and did worry a little as to the quality of The Cliffs. I needn't have worried. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the welcome and service was of the best we could have hoped for. Pre dinner drinks. Great. Wine menu. Superb for a gastro pub. I had a starter of King prawn in garlic and chilli. Gorgeous. The rib eye steak to follow was perfect. The garlic butter sauce was a wonderful accompaniment to the succulent steak. The front of house team (lead by Lorna?) looked after us as well as we could have wished for anywhere. Thank you all. 6 Stars.

We went here for lunch after walking on the beach We remembered the pub from many years ago as a brilliant and lively place to eat How it’s changed! Staff were unfriendly and inattentive The food was a real disappointment, fish and chips included fish that was so overcooked the batter was the colour of horse chestnuts and very difficult to eat as it was so hard. The chips were anaemic looking and completely tasteless Crispy beef, far from being crispy appeared to have been cremated and the garlic prawns were cold and sitting in a pool of oil. A very disappointing visit and one which we will not be repeating

We dined here and I use the term “ dined “ very loosely The food here is absolutely shocking , we had frozen calamari and frozen chips For the prices they are charging for chewy frozen calamari is scandalous The risotto was more like rice pudding , tasteless and resembled wall paper paste We also had a monkfish curry - average but very watery The ribs - probably from Iceland - the supermarket not the country No toilet roll in the men’s toilet Asked for a gin with cucumber garnish , came with limes which is not the end of the world but when they are charging those prices - shocking and lazy To sum up -Awful food for extortionate prices will 100 percent never return , weather-spoons serve better food for a quarter of the price

Came with some friends as we are staying a few minutes walk away. Terrible food, blatantly frozen calamari and frozen McCain chips which the waitress admitted they served. Prices of food was extortionate - £17 for 3 ‘beef tacos’ which comprised of tired flat salad, a god awful excuse for raw slaw and some frozen ‘fillet steak’ pieces with some straight out of the packet wraps. For the price of food they are charging they should probably try employing a chef.

My daughter and I booked a week in a cottage not far from Morfa Nefyn. As I had been to The Cliffs years ago we booked for two evenings. The first visit on the 9th August was disappointing as the restaurant was not anywhere near as good as it used to be, a shadow in fact. A very poor range of choices, especially for my vegtarian daughter. The only thing the same is the magnificent setting but that did not compensate for the poor choice of food. We had booked to go again on 13th August and debated whether to cancel but unfortunately did not. We arrived at the restaurant to find a poster saying that they were closed due to a waitress testing positive for Covid 19. Now this couldn't be helped but as we had booked on line in June we would have expected to be advised early in the day that they were closed. By the evening of course we could not find anywhere else to eat and had to settle for a very inferior chain pub meal which ruined the last evening of our holiday. If you are thinking of going to The Cliffs please take heed.

Attractive location which is the main asset of this restaurant. Usual drinks but food was expensive and disappointing. Specials we had were the Sea Bass on risotto and Monkfish Thai curry. The risotto was the worst I have ever had, it resembled semolina crossed with baby food and was obviously straight out of a bag. The fillet of sea bass was ok but this dish was £19.50. My wife’s monkfish curry had no Thai flavour at all, more of an odd red stew. It had loads of chilli which was probably there to kill your taste buds. Again £19.50! The chicken curry was also bland and lacked any of the usual curry flavour, again this was probably a cost co boil a bag job.Daughters child’s menu burger looked l dry and unappealing, even to a 9 year olds eye. We didn’t stay for desert as by this point I’d had enough.Won’t be back I’m sorry to say.On plus side the staff were lovely, not their fault the food is average.

Ate with my wife here for our anniversary, booked online nice and easy, on-site parking and an amazing view from the car park over the bay. Lively bar and restaurant, lots of families there when we arrived so the usual loud chatter drifting over from other tables, but could still hear each other talking, nice atmosphere. the place quietened down later into the evening as the rush died off so maybe come later if you want a quieter time (we didn’t mind at all) Food was the highlight of the evening, chicken wings and cauliflower bites were awesome, Cajun chicken tacos stole the show for me, salt and pepper chips we’ll worth the little extra to upgrade, my wife’s burger was yummy too! Very decent portions too, staff were attentive and friendly, and all around it was a very positive experience! Would recommend to anyone, we will be back! :)

Special today was a banging Thai monk fish curry which was fantastic which my husband devoured whilst I had an equally fantastic king prawn linguine. Even though we were stuffed managed to get down an equally awesome Belgium waffle and chocolate brownie. We had to roll down the coast path on the way back to our holiday rental! Good to see The Cliffs operating at full steam again, despite irritating face masks and distancing.Food and drinks were good. My ribs were a massive portion and really meaty. My dining companions all enjoyed their food. Waitresses need to polish the art of scanning for eye contact of customers seeking their attention.Only real complaint is noise. The recent make-over was done with hard furnishings, walls and flooring. The bar itself is sheet steel. The dining room suffers from echoing and resonance, making conversation hard work.Still worth a visit.

Meal out for four adults. Booked in May. Arrived, shown to table. Not asked if the bar stools and high bar style table was suitable for us.Considering we booked last month I expected a proper table and chairs. It almost felt like they were trying to fit us in.Waited at least 20 minutes for someone to come and take our drinks order. She also took our food order because we had all had ages to look at the me u at this point.Drinks arrived, drinks were drunk. Food arrived, no cutlery though? My sister had to get up and help herself. The waitress literally served the food and was gone, so we sat and ate our meals with empty glasses in front of us. Trying desperately to catch the waitresses eyes.Nobody came to see if our food was satisfactory or if there was anything else we needed. No condiments were offered. When we eventually called a waitress over, she took our drinks orders but left our empty plates and upon her return she plonked the tray of drinks down and walked away.So we were left trying to decide who's drinks were who's. And trying to make space for them. Because not only had she left the empty plates she had also left all the empty glasses too. So room on our table top was very limited at this time.Another long wait ensued, finally we gained eye contact again and asked for our table to be cleared.... Which she did.... But that was all she did. We were not offered a dessert menu or more drinks.Service was abysmal. It's no excuse to say that the restaurant was full. Because even in a full restaurant with all covers booked your staff should be capable of doing the basics - clearing tables, keeping customers happy and serving drinks - not plonking a bar tray of drinks down and walking away!! If I wanted fast food I would go to Mc Donald's.Not impressed. Would I recommend, no.Did the food stand out as great, no. I had the caesar salad, it was passable at best. The chicken was dry, the portion for a main course was too small and the dressing/ parmesan too little. It certainly was not remarkable. My son had the salmon - he said it was over cooked and dry. The other two in our party had the fish and chips and said it was nice. The best thing about the whole experience was the views from the carpark

Lovely location, but food was a little less than expected. Ordered ribs, fish and chips and tacos. Ribs had very little meat unfortunately which was really disappointing as it was for a 10 year old and she wasn't full after the meal. Fish and chips was nice, as were the tacos, but it all felt quite rushed and the conservatory is just too warm to sit on a hot day, fans would have been a good idea? Service was generally good, we had a lovely waiter who was really friendly. Biggest issue is strangely the tomato sauce!! They had a vegan and no sugar alternative which is just awful!!! Surely if you are going down the healthy alternative it needs to be nice. Overall it was 3/5 stars and that was just about right, I just wanted it to be better.

Popped in for a Guinness but ended up having a beautiful Thai curry. From the moment we walked in it was clearly on the money with the mood of the covid situation and it was by all observations being managed very professionally. The management was friendly and helpful, food was amazing......really so much better than expected. Keep up the excellent food and service

Due to our late arrival into the area, we hadn't managed to book anywhere for dinner. Although it was busy, the staff at The Cliffs kindly let us sit in the bar area and we had a really good meal. Very accommodating staff and a very nice atmosphere. Would definitely go back.

Stopped off for a drink after a walk along the coastal path, then ordered some sharing food which was fantastic. Decided to return the next day for the 3 course Sunday lunch which did not disappoint and was excellent value for money. Dog friendly too! Would definitely recommend

Went for Sunday lunch. Firstly disappointed there wasn’t any beef and the only proper roast dinner on offer was lamb! This was cut too thickly and was no where near cooked enough! It was very chewy and bloody! The vegetables were lovely and the service was great but they need more choice for roast dinners. The view was great too.

Whilst staying in Morfa we had a couple of meals here. It was fantastic, the food was first class, particularly the lobster. I would recommend this place and will definitely be back.

We stopped here following a long walk along the beach - we had thought about the ty-coch Inn but it was grossly overcrowded and frankly tacky. The Cliffs - though it took another 50 minutes to walk to - was quiet, had decent seating on the patio and the food was to die for. We had the tappas (chilled prawns, khoftas, bruchetta and calamari) - all beautifully presented and with outstanding flavours. The staff were lovely and it was one of the nicest meals we have had in the area. Well worth a visit.

My husband and I came here for our 25th wedding anniversary. The restaurant was recommended by the Airbnb host of the cottage we were staying at in Nefyn. Reservations were easily made online and I mentioned it being our anniversary. We walked along the coastal path from Nefyn (about 35-40 minutes). Found the restaurant easily where they had a lot of picnic tables outside for social distancing. Felt a bit overdressed as most people were in beach wear. Was hoping for a more upscale place of an anniversary dinner, but the restaurant was clean, following Covid rules and had a nice beachy feel. We didn't have great expectations about the food because it was a pub, but we couldn't have been more wrong. I had two starters as my main: lamb kofta and King prawns; my husband had the steak and ale pie. All VERY delicious and plenty of it! We were very pleased with the meal. Dessert was just as spectacular with lemon meringue cheesecake and salted caramel profiteroles. Food was good....service was good.Never judge a book by its cover.

We was staying at the Lovely Bron Rhiw Guest House in Criccieth and Andy & Tina suggested The Cliffs as a place to eat. We managed to book a table for 4 as we were with friends and 3 of us had the Lobster which was very nice and are friend had a steak cooked just how he likes it. Thanks Josh and your team for a nice experience.

Ate here 3 times last week, food is delicious. Fish and chips to die for, Cajun salmon lush. Salt and pepper chips a revelation as have never had them before. Managed to get a seat outside each time as dogs are not allowed inside. Sadly had to cancel our prebooked Sunday lunch in the bar as we had 2 dogs. Seemed very Covid aware and felt safe enough. Great food and great service and would be 5 stars if the dog had been allowed indoors.

Rude staff, terrible service. We called The Cliffs this morning to confirm they welcomed dogs inside and out and the guy we spoke to confirmed they did and that we didn’t need to book. We then walked for two hours along the coastal path and ended up being drenched by Storm Francis. When we got to the Cliffs, Soaking wet and shivering they refused to let us in, saying they didn’t admit dogs. When I explained that we’d called in advance and showed the (supercilious, rude, blonde, Male) staff member the sign on the door - see picture- he dismissed me and said there was no space for us. They wouldn’t even let us use the loo before we went back out into the rain. Even though the restaurant and bar was virtually empty. Don’t trust what their staff say on the phone!! We walked another 30 mins to The Ship Inn down the road in Edern and the staff and food were brilliant. Don’t waste your time here.

The staff here are absolutely superb, so welcoming supportive and friendly. The use of the two apps to support customers during the pandemic is good, tonight there was issues with the WiFi so they switched to table service which must have been far more difficult but they continued as normal to make our evening enjoyable. The food is fantastic!

Ate here yesterday late afternoon. First had few cold beers up on cliff behind looking over beautiful beach. Lots of families using own boats. Then ate outside pub as had our dog. Fact that weather was boiling, but food was amazing! I had 4 x starters, all of which were so delicious! Gorgeous friendly staff. Great menu

We were walking along the coastal path with our dogs and we just dropped by for a drink but ended up having some lunch. We just had the burger and chips and some drinks. The burgers were tasty but spoiled by the burnt cheese on the bacon. I wouldn’t rave about the food, it is not the tastiest burger I have ever eaten but it was OK. You have to order everything via an app, HOPT, download it in advance because we had issues with the WiFi where we were sitting and no phone signal. This also acts as track and trace as well. Also you have to order drinks and food and consume them in the patio so there is no nice view from there and only 6 tables so I would advise booking in advance. Staff on the whole did socially distance and there was a good 2 metre space between tables so we did feel safe eating there.

Visited the Cliffs last night for a family meal. All 5 of us were pleased with the food and the customer Service. I planned to get engaged after the meal at the top with the views out into the bay. The manager was aware of this and the staff were very supportive. My other half said yes and the manager gave us a free bottle of prosecco to celebrate. It couldn't have gone better - Thank You!

Lovely location and welcoming staff but let down with the food. Ordered a platter for 4 and got 3 koftas. How bizarre. Expensive for what we got which is a shame

We visited today and ordered a sharing platter for 4 people. Sadly the platter was barely enough for 2 people offering 1 calamari each, 1 small bruscetta each, a small pot of pate to share and only 3 koftas for four people. The cost of the platter was £23. Lovely setting and staff friendly but poor value overall.

Outstanding views that remain after 50 years of business. We’ve celebrated our Daughters birthday for over 30 years at the Cliffs, last night was special as it was the Cliffs first night of full service, something we hadn’t anticipated, following lockdown.Despite a slightly reduced menu to facilitate / expediting food more rapidly we were not disappointed. The return of the pizzas is a great call. The team were enthusiastic and as professional as ever and that extended to the hard working Kitchen crew. The venue is Covid compliant with masses of distancing and great hygiene standards. Booking is now essential. Go to their web siteDon’t hesitate to visit and make your holiday complete. It’s as safe and as friendly, as is possible, given the current situation.

We booked an evening table as a large party on a Saturday. The table was set when we arrived. Orders were taken for drinks and food in a very polite and timely way. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was very good and everyone enjoyed their meal. After the meal we moved to comfy armchairs next to the log stove. The whole evening was excellent and would highly recommend. Would also add that we used taxis to get to and from The Cliffs. The taxi drivers were very friendly and extremely helpful. All in all we had a great time.

Good to find a restaurant open so soon after Christmas (December 28th) but it was a mixed occasion for our group. Nearly all the starters had already been taken off the menu and when our food arrived some was very good but some less so. Maybe it was just the busyness and the staff being stretched. But slow service and mixed quality of food made it disappointing for some of us. I'm sure that the food at less busy times will be consistently excellent - at the high standard of the good meals enjoyed by most in our group.

We made the mistake of going back to this pub having visited several times over the years, it was completely dead and the bar lady had a serious attitude problem, when two other guests arrived the bar woman was now siting in the corner and i pointed her out simple saying the bar woman was over there - she completely turned on me obviously annoyed i’d called her a bar woman ( she clearly wasn’t a solicitor) which also resulted in her partner becoming extremely aggressive and was expecting a physical assault to be taking place, luckily i managed to de escalate the situation which if full of locals would’ve only been worse. The woman clearly has mental health problems and probably a drug user and shouldn’t be working in an environment selling alcohol.

Alana is a scam artist. Sends damaged squashed and disgusting cakes and then refuses to refund, would not order again from these people

We were looking for somewhere downtown harlech for a drink and food with our two boys, 9 and 14 years of age. We read the sign outside. Everyone welcome except for children. Dogs especially welcome. Adults only. A few of the local guys told me it's a swingers hotel where the dogs can get involved. Avoid. If you do want a good pint with holiday makers and locals all enjoying good food and drink and friendly conversation I would highly recommend walking an extra 200yds to the pub right next to the train station. Dogs, kids, humans all seem to be equally welcome

There is times of the day where there's no alternative for having a coffee in town. We went here twice during our visit of Caernarfon. I did not take a coffee at the second visit as I didn't like it. It is less clean inside and everything seems a little loveless. The sweet cakes etc. are great though. At least, the products are rather inexpensive.
