At the counter was asked to find a table where my order would be taken. Only one table occupied - so cafe far from busy. Nevertheless, waited for 15 minutes for someone clearing a table to ask if my order had been taken which it still hadn’t. Then to be told that the last tea cake was sold earlier – on a Monday early afternoon. Disappointing – not my day clearly.

On a freezing Friday in January my mate Martin and I were cycling and needed some refreshments and to warm up. What a great cafe, super staff led by Sam who sorted the menu for me smashed avocado on sourdough with scrambled eggs and beans - perfect! Theo large coffees and a warm welcome absolutely fabulous thank you.

A great little cafe, and the makers of the best Melton Mowbray pork pies - they only make a few a day, and they are honestly the best available. I was really saddened by the closure of Baileys butchers in Upper Broughton, so to find their pies continue to made just up the road is fantastic!

A lovely location in the centre of the village, with a nice garden area at the back and a safe place to park our bikes. The food is nice enough and they are reasonably quick to serve you. But it’s quite expensive compared to other cafes in the area. £6 for beans on toast, most other cafes charge around £4. The cakes are nice and reasonably priced and they do takeaway too.

Food was below average quality ) bacon cob and millionaires slice) just lacking in taste and although a large bap there was very little bacon inside. Coffee ok but prices are outrageous and leave you feeling robbed. I won’t be going back.

Came upon this wonderful cafe on a beautifully sunny Monday afternoon. We had been on a walk from Hickling via Hose. We’d run out of water and were gasping for a drink. The pub we passed was closed, so we were so pleased to see the cafe was still open. Lovely service on arrival and we ordered drinks and cakes to eat in the advertised garden out the back. Despite it being almost closing time we were not rushed and spent a lovely time in the sun-trap of a garden. Fabulous selection of cakes and drinks here. My wheat free nut and seed cake was so moist and delicious. Feeling refreshed we went to purchase some bottled water for our journey ahead and the wonderful lady behind the counter offered to fill our water bottles for free with water from the fridge. A very kind gesture. Would highly recommend this place and would definitely visit again when in the area.

Long Clawson Kitchen Cafe. 1. Real sausages but very small. 2. Only one egg. 3. Cheap beans. 4. Very expensive. 5. Full English breakfast cost £9 each. 6. Small mug of coffee £3 each. I can't recommend this.

Dropped in for a coffee. Ended up with a light and tasty Stilton & Pear quiche! My wife could not resist the huge fruit scone & Jam so we never did get home for lunch! Lovely friendly service, dog friendly ( yes the resident dog is very friendly) and tasty morsels ready to tempt you either eat in or take away. The Cobs looked huge at a neighbouring table. All fresh and with good coffee a surprisingly pleasant way to while away a Sunday lunchtime.

So disappointed and very surprised at the lack of interest in response to review earlier. Very bad practice. We were back again recently and sadly nothing changed.

This was our most favourite place ever. John, Belinda Mark and Pauline worked hard to build this into the outstanding reputable business it became. It was the beating heart of the village and surrounding villages all through covid. Very popular with cyclists and very community minded. No matter how difficult it was you were always met with a smile, a chat a warm welcome and good food it never wavered. Nothing and I mean nothing was ever too much trouble. The ultimate professionals. Unfortunately they decided to retire in June and sold the business. All that has changed now with the new owner. She is rude, and arrogant it has no atmosphere, the food is awful, portion sizes are miniscule, expensive and fairly tasteless. When we last visited we arrived long before the kitchen closed, we waited 20 minutes for someone to take our order. In the end my husband went to the counter and ordered coffee but whe he tried to order food he was unpleasantly told "Kitchen closes at 2" when he complained because we had arrived at 1.30pm and hadn't been served she was extremely rude. He paid for the coffee we ordered and we walked out. I told her we would never set foot in the place again. We will not !!!!! If she wants to keep her business she needs to improve on the way she treats her customers. 🥲 I spent 20 years in managung Conferencing and catering if I had behaved like that I would have been sacked!!!

Visited for breakfast and can only say we were beyond disappointed… (the young girls working in there were lovely! So that part was good!) We ordered the larger breakfast which was £9 each when we received the food it was no bigger than a child’s portion, there was easily a tea spoon of beans and a tea spoon of tomatoes on the plate… I dread to think how many you would get on the smaller breakfast… oh and the bacon was completely over cooked. If this is all the breakfast is £9 is too much to ask.. This was the first time we have visited and safe to say we won’t be returning which is a shame because we usually love village cafes/restaurants, I hope this will be assessed and some good changes can be made so others don’t have a similar experience.

The family are regular visitors here. We weren't so sure as it had changed hands when we went this time. The menu remained the same but no pork pies or sausage rolls. A good choice of cakes. The food was good but the portions were smaller particularly the side salads and no dressing. The staff were friendly and food arrived quickly. Early days yet but on the whole very good.

Went today for a coffee tea run, £16 for 4 coffee and 3 teass take away, coffee was cold and weak actually like water ,long wait for them ,I was the only one in the queue,, I found the man in there very unwelcoming, actually a bit rude. 3 weeks ago I brought a homemade pork pie for about £8 , It was tasteless and nothing special, used to be a great place to go, but seems to have lost its way. I have no problem paying a bit extra if it's quality and nice but it's just all that right now x

I have had a terrible experience with Melton Mowbray Costa. I placed an order today for Costa Coffee. I was then phoned by the restaurant who informed me they did not have the food I'd ordered [vegan toastie and mozzerella panini]. We agreed the order should be cancelled as they did not have what I'd ordered and the employee advised me to cancel it "on my end". I then cancelled the order and was charged in full (£20) despite Costa not having my order in stock, and not having prepared my order. I cancelled because I was TOLD TO by the restaurant because they could not fulfil my order. I feel this is a scam. Having looked into it myself I know now Costa should have cancelled the order on their end due to not having my order available. I will not be using this Costa again.

Googled a dog friendly pub for lunch as we were in the area. The website stated 12pm opening on Wednesday (the day we were there), but the pub was closed. The sign on the door said they opened at 12pm too. Everything was locked and someone from the business over the road said they opened at 4pm. Please update your opening times when they change.

I felt it was quite an awkward place. You have to book in advance for afternoon tea when in reality it was dry, cheap bread with probably aldi ham in the middle and dry cakes. Upon arrival the owner was leaning over the counter playing on her phone. No customer service. Once the food was placed in front of us I noticed that a hair was in one of the scones. She then replaced it with a small shop bought one. The other scone was very hard and dry. The cups were dirty and we had no spoons. The milk was a little off as if it had been sat on the table all day. Overall not a great experience. I think the whole afternoon tea was chucked together onto a cake stand, put on top of sticky tables, costing a couple of quid but charging people so much more. The whole experience was very awkward and it didn't feel very welcoming in there at all which is sad because it's not the service you would expect from a small local coffee shop. Costa provides a better experience!

I've been coming here regularly since it opened and they do the best coffee. Sadly the service on my last 2 visits has been lacking. On Sunday I came with a friend for Sunday lunch. The girl took our order and the drinks arrived within 10 mins or so. We finished our drinks and still no sign of any food. I had a receipt with the time showing so, after 45 mins, I asked how much longer our food would be. The waitress then said there is a 45 min wait for food. I said we were not told this when we ordered which would have been helpful. The girl said she would push our order through and to be fair gave us a free drink. The food arrived after 1 hour. Today I went in for coffee and cake. This time it was the coffee that was very slow. I had finished my cake and was just sat waiting for the coffee which arrived after 25 mins. Today wasn't particularly busy but I would never come during my lunch hour from work to eat because of how slow the service is. I still love the place and will come when I have plenty if time but it appears there are staffing issues.
