Great looking old pub, fires roaring when we came in. Staff all very friendly, lots of choices on the menu. Went for the bacon chop: really tasty and succulent, great fries, loved the piccalilli with it, and the onion rings were to die for!

Loch Arthur Creamery and Cafe

03/12/2018: Each time we visit we select something new from the Menu, this time I selected Beef Olives with Chunky Vegetables, this was an Excellent Choice. For Dessert I chose Barrie's Apple Cheesecake-fantastic.
30/09/2018: We enjoyed a curried parsnip soup each. Friendly staff. Waitress service. Free water available. No room for cake sadly. Wish we'd discovered it earlier in the holiday. Lovely setting. Super clean toilets. Lovely goodies available to buy, mostly pricey but the odd affordable item.

The Smithy

27/09/2018: We stopped here for morning tea while travelling. The cafe is in a charming town and has a cosy feel. The servers were friendly and the scones with jam and cream were lovely. One of us enjoyed a black coffee but the cappuccino was disappointing. This may not be the place to stop if you are in a rush as everything takes place at village pace, but if you are not in a hurry it is a very pleasant place to pause.
30/09/2018: Found this by accident as we drove around Loch Ken. In a lovely setting next to Mill Burn with outside seating too. Had a quick look around the giftshop before ordering breakfast. Soft boiled egg with soldiers and latte for me and bacon / egg batch and tea for OH. Lovely. Couldn't resist the treacle scone and cream as had never had one before. Even suggested some treacle to spread instead of butter. Delicious! Dairy alternative (it was almond the day we visited). Lovely staff. Quality homecooked food. Popular with bikers too. Loved the toilet sign - Och Aye The Loos. Genius!
