The Clachan Bar in Stirling

I ordered the venison burger, it was really awful. If one part of the meal was not good i would of mentioned it and given them the chance to sort it. But due to so many parts of the meal being really bad it made more sense to write a bad review. The food was what the food was. Chips were sickly pale and undercooked, onion rings were undercooked in oil not hot enough leaving it thick and soaked through the batter, oil was also not clean, it had black bits throughout. The burger bun was dry and freezer burned, either stale or hard at edges from being microwaved. The venison burger had been frozen and defrosted in the microwave, but too long in the microwave so it was dry and solid like a hockey puck. The woman at the bar was not particularly friendly either, not the younger girl, the older one. We spend £45 in there, we were extremely hungry from climbing so we ate it all but it really really was terrible and just to fill a hole.

Had a lovely mid week break here. Well equipped rooms. Continental breakfast covering all needs. Friendly helpful staff. Fully stocked bar and delicious food as well. Views of Loch Earn are stunning.

End of the season, not many people eating on a dismal Thursday night. This would not have been a very good review, except that our complaint was listened to and we were given a refund. So all good stuff in the end. Receptionist was all smiles and very welcoming, gave us our menus and we could choose our own tables. TV was on but hardly any sound, so we were happy with that. Two Cullen Skink arrived very promptly. Very tasty, and very filling with plenty of fish. Could have been a bit warmer, but off to a good start. I ordered a venison burger, which was excellent, but a mountain of chips. My wife ordered Lasagne, off the specials board. I failed to notice it too came with another mountain of chips, which are not really necessary when you consider the pasta (also carbohydrate) in the lasagne. The lasagne was disappointing, short of sauce and stodgy. The salad and coleslaw were really excellent. However our complaint was accepted, without question and we were not charged for the Lasagne. A lot of places would not have done that, or argued the toss. So bonus points for attitude, understanding and listening. Perhaps with hindsight, Cullen Skink and pudding would have suited us better. We will be back next year at the height of the season to find out.

We ate in here two nights (Frid/Sat) over the last weekend. Food was plentiful and so delicious! We shall defo be back! The chef deserves a gold star for sure! :)

We ate here as were staying at the hotel. The food is excellent with plenty of choice. The staff are very friendly.
