1st meal from here in a while. Delivered on time, fresh, piping hot, and perfectly made, could not fault a thing. Whoever complains about this food obviously needs a new palette .

Puedo decir confidencialmente, nunca volveré a hacer pedidos a City Spice.

sentado aquí ahora mismo. . .

Used to get takeaways from here so decided to have a wander and treat myself to an Indian. The staff were really welcoming and the poppadums some of the best I have had. The meal was so tasty I polished off every last morsel even though I was full. Will definitely come again but will bring my sister with me as she would love it.

This small Indian restaurant is well recommended by locals and visitors to Norwich. We were a party of 4. Two mature diners and two older teenagers, one of whom is vegetarian. We enjoyed the variety of food chosen by the four of us who all have different tastes. The best part of the meal was the service which was friendly without being instrusive and served with pride. Prices were very reasonable at less than £20 per head which included a bottle of wine, several beers and soft drinks. We will be returning

Always enjoyable to eat here....the food is as good, if not better than the 'fine dining' Bangaldeshi establishments in Norwich, but with the added character of an an intimate little environment and first class attentive service. It will also cost you much less! Tonight I ordered take away to be delivered. It arrived on time (it's Saturday night by the way), hot, well packaged and not swimming in the red oil that instantly stains your dining table! The food was of the same high quality as when I've dined in at the restaurant, and given that it's in containers, the presentation was superb....fresh chopped chillies & coriander on top of the main dish, puffy warm naan, and the best mushroom pilau rice ever. Order from here, you will not be disappointed......and they deserve the recognition.

Late curry on the way home. Excellent. Service great and the food an equally high standard. This curry house is often quiet but probably due to location. I had a tarka dal and a chicken tikka Vindaloo and all as good as much pricier venues in Norfolk I’ve been to. Let’s hope it gets busier.

Volveremos!

Very ordinary food but served with a smile. The chutneys with poppadums didn't have anything hot but did include a bowl of what looked, smelled and tasted like brown sauce. A new culinary experience.

We regularly eat here and also have the occasional takeaway. We both love Indian food and have tried many restaurants in and around Norwich and I have to say this one is by far our favourite. The quality of the food is consistently excellent as is the service We have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant and wouldn't choose to eat in any other Indian restaurant in Norwich Simply the best !

having recently tried out a "top-end" Indian restaurant can advise that City Spice is a class above for authentic food which is full of flavour.

Our order was 20 mins late. It was cold when it arrived so had to reheat in the microwave. The chicken looked very pink. The whole taste was VERY bland, no 2 curries should taste the same. Awful will not use these again!

We did not expect to find such delicious food in Norwich after being inundated with pubs. Specializing in the Bangladeshi and Nepalese palette, we found all of the dishes, from Butter Masala chicken, to Chicken Tikka, and Lamp Chops and Bhindi Potato to be light on the spice and long on flavor. Everything settled ( read, digested) very well and left us longing for more. Everything seemed to be freshly prepared including the rice pilau. Go with an appetite, you won't be disappointed. The host as well as our waiter were gracious.

We ordered a Lamb Madras with assorted sundries, Nan bread, rice, the usual stuff, Having been received very well and seated, provided with a drink, the food arrived and was, to my surprise, quite superb. Not perhaps as spicy as I might have expected (I lived and worked in India) it was none the less very well prepared with very tender Lamb, silky smooth sauce, the Nan bread was one of the best I have tasted, so I ordered a Chappati which was equally good. Nothing one might think to write home about, but given the location, it was a delight to have such a clean, and comfortable place to eat and the added bonus was food that was well in excess of expectations. I will re-visit weithout doubt the next time I am in Norwich: 11/10

(Delivery) Awful. I knew I was in for disappointment by how quick it arrived. Bland tasteless mush that sadly is par for course in Norwich. 'Spice' is a misnomer here. Inedible ancient stale chappati with consistency of elastic. Veg dish was really gross. Jaipuri Chicken tasted of garam masala and nothing else. Most of the order ended up in the bin. If you are Indian or have ever been to India you will weep at how bad the food is here.

Had walked past City Spice a few days before and would of popped in later in the week but decided on a take out a day or so later, pretty disappointing to be honest as we ordered a set meal for 2 which included -Popadums - tasted like they had been pre cooked hours before and were stale.Chicken Tikka starter - Oops big container 6 small pieces of bland chicken.Onion Bhaji - Probably the worst ive had outside of a supermarket ready meal thought they were going to break my teeth.Chicken Tikka Masala - Very creamy and sweet with too much coconut but lacking chicken again.Lamb Rogon - Plenty of sauce but lack of lamb hmm.Sag Aloo - Big lumps of potatoes and very little spinach made it far too dry and bland.Pilau rice - OKNan Bread - Small but OkKeema Nan - Needed more flavouring and more Keema.Yogurt Sauce - Thin, runny and flavourless.Salad - Good. The cost was £20.95 so not overly impressed but it was eaten and enjoyed but lacked things that would have made up the points, basic things like meat and being able to make yogurt sauce and make a proper Nan bread. Will visit the restaurant just to see if the food is better in future.

Popped in to the City Spice on Saturday and after a friendly welcome we were shown to our immaculately clean table. The service was very attentive, without it being all "mate", "boss", etc as you so often get in the Spice Lounge, and the menu was pretty comprehensive.Poppadoms and the excellent pickles arrived and the main courses were chosen. Both chicken main dishes arrived after a very welcome wait (why do some Indian restaurants bring the food far too quickly) and these were very good indeed. Special mention to the side dishes though, the sag paneer and brinjal bargee were superb, really excellent. The restaurant was pretty quiet which is shame as the food here is well worth trying. The service isn't rushed, the staff are very friendly and the whole experience is spot on. Not at all expensive and overall a great meal .Check it out.

Enjoyed a lovely meal in here, which was very fairly priced. Had a very tasty starter, curry with "Special Presentation" - not sure what that was meant to be - very good though - a sundrie and a super bottle of Bangla, £4-50 but it was the big 660 ml size so that is a decent price. Polite staff. Ate on my own, there were only 5 other people at the time - I just couldn't work out why it took an hour & a half. However, I would go back, and I would recommend.

The City Spice is by far my favourite curry house in Norwich. It is authentic, great value and I've never been dissapointedThe food has great care about ingredients, spices and presentationThe staff are efficient and attentive. It is much under rated compared to other curry houses nearbyThe choice of food is excellent, nepalise and tandori curriesDont go to to the flashier alternatives; these guys know what they are doingThe food has warmth and soul, with an earthy heat. Love it. Weds is banquet night! Superb food for starter, main, rice/naan for £10.95 Check it out

Ordered two meals, one for me and one for my vegetarian girlfriend. when the meals arrived after 12 midnight, we was given two different chicken currys. we immediately called it in but they did not pick up the phone.. they were conveniently closed. , it felt almost like we were the last order of the day and they didn't care that they had messed up our order. only one curry was eatable.. it contained 80% sauce and about 5 small lumps of chicken.. the naan bread was doughy, it was sweaty and gross had to bin them.. all in all only 10% of the entire order was consumed. i would not recommend.

First time I had been to this restaurant and I went on one of their banquet nights (Wednesday) Food was amazing the madras particularly and the prawn puri were both the best I've had in Norwich. Had the Vindaloo and it was absolutely delicious. Usually about the limit of what I can handle but this was one of the most pleasant examples of one I've ever eaten. Obviously a very spicy curry, but if you want to try one for the first time then Shah Zahan is the place to get one! The staff at the counter gave the place a good vibe too :)
