Found this amazing farm last year. That time we had a tour around the farm, cider tasting, home made scones and coffee. The tour was fantastic. Really enjoyed and learnt so much about running a small business, how cider is made and historical facts and legends. Well worth a trip. On that occasion we purchased lots (and I mean lots) of assorted ciders. We returned, with empty bottles this year and replenished our cupboards. Great to support a small business and great tasting cider.

We’ve just had an amazing time with Alison at The Cider Vat today. We had a personal tour around the apple trees and the whole processing plant. Lots of information and stories to be told. Alison is a fantastic host. So knowledgeable and obviously loves what she does. We couldn’t help but get drawn into her enthusiasm. Three lovely dogs and a very affectionate cat, who loves cuddles, we’re also our guides. They were as entertaining as Alison. We also had afternoon tea of homemade scones (which Alison was taking out of the oven as we arrived!). Yummy yummy. The cider tasting was excellent. Let’s just say we came home with “several” bottles. Can definitely recommend a visit here.

Stopped here with friends on a rainy August day, with many dogs! The hospitality was outstanding, food out of this world, cider brewed with love, skill and attention to authenticity. The farm and gift shop has all you need and more! Amazing place, Veggies and Vegans well catered for, as well as the carnivores, pasties and cream teas amazing. I will definitely return to do the full tour and eat again. Thank you guys.

This place is certainly worth visiting. We stopped here twice and had food both times which is home cooked and delicious!! The cakes are brilliant from here and so are the pies!! We had a cream tea too which is definitely recommended. We have tried various ciders (which they make themselves) and they've all been good. It tastes and feels like a quality product and wouldn't look out of place in a fancy wine shop. They also stock English wines which are extremely difficult to get hold of in the North so we had to get a couple of bottles of those! The staff here can't do enough for you and it's definitely a hidden gem. This place is highly recommended!

Absolutely amazing sausage rolls. Huge and home made tasty. Pork and apple or just pork. Nice and herby and flaky pastry. Came in day before and they had none so ordered for next day so special batch made for us. One of these does for a nicely for lunch with a glass of cider which incidentally they sell as well

Visited on a rainy day. Were warmly welcomed and tasted several ciders. Fancied a pasty and this was freshly made. I then discovered that tours were available and was able to join one that had just started. It was most interesting and informative and made me much more aware of the issues around authentic cider production. Well worth a visit

We popped in while we were visiting the area following the excellent ratings it had on here. On arrival we thought it looked great and being a big cider fan I was pleased to see such choice. Was very welcoming for our dogs too. We ordered some food (main reason for going) and continued to look around and got excited by the homemade pies and other goodies in the freezer and looked to buy. Unfortunately though it went downhill from there with a long wait for my wife’s latte which for whatever reason didn’t taste quite right but never mind we thought. We had both ordered the freshly made steak rolls which when they arrived the meat was very chewy and we had no sauces etc so were dry. Feeling a little disappointed by the food we had received unfortunately we left without buying pies, cakes or cider!

Met my future life partner here for a cuppa, the ambiance and staff where truly amazing - local knowledge and great conversation with them. Really nice short lovers walk though the grounds and so what if a bit muddy was soooo worth it, sat on the swinging bench with the best company in the world, the place is peaceful and tranquil and really felt plugged into the place. Sampled the ciders and good to see staff giving up there time to talk to us when I’m sure they were busy getting ready for the pizza and cider evening, we were sad to have missed that. Very knowledgeable in explaining the blends. So a massive big thank you for making our day so special... we will be returning for sure.

We decided on a whim to follow the sign down the lane to the cider vat - we never usually do this sort of thing and I'm thrilled we did. It's amazing. Cider from the orchards you pass on the lane, fantastic home made Shrub, brilliant jam, delicious cakes, all made on the farm, fresh and delicious. And a really laid back, friendly, relaxed and knowledgable vibe. I want to go back! and we only left a couple of hours ago. The cider is delicious and somehow we managed to leave with two large boxes of glorious stuff to eat and drink - very unexpected! but I'm so pleased.

In planning this year’s trip through Devon, I realize I didn’t review this wonderful farm store last year. The cream tea was delicious (different scones than what I’m used to and very tasty), the lady was so nice, the store had a wide variety of fun foods and surrounds are lovely. I love stores right at the farm! I hope we can make it there again this year!

A group of us (6 young adults and 2 slightly older!) were looking for something to do on a rather damp afternoon, and decided to visit the Cider Vat. Despite the short notice, Alison gave us a very warm welcome and found time to fit in our tour. The 40 minute tour of her craft cider works was brilliant - her passion for her family business made it really special. This was followed by cider tasting which included an informative and enjoyable explanation of the stories behind the names of each of the ciders. We ended the tour with a delicious cream tea including homemade scones. Definitely recommend if you have an afternoon spare, we had a great few hours and came home with a lot of bottles of cider from the farm shop!!

had a great tour today, learnt so much about the art of making a great cider. Loved the tasting after, and purchased a few bottles to take home. Great cream tea to round off our visit.

You'd be a fool to visit Devon and not make a stop at The Cider Vat in Sampford Courtney (nr Okehampton). Fantastic range of local produce, delicious cakes and superb cider made from the apples grown on site. Dogs and children were welcomed, and the service was really second to none. Perfect for those wanting a taste of a real Devonshire farm.

Beautiful setting in glorious rural Devon, the spacious Cider Vat has a superb range of ciders and local foods for sale plus spirits. The gourmet steak baps were very reasonably priced, local Devonshire cheese and bread on sale too. The owners also stock their own ciders including "Grumpy Scrumpy" in 1/2 gallon containers, add your own sugar to taste!

Had a lovely cake and coffee stop here. Great gluten and dairy free citrus cake and really good white coffee, all for £4. Great value, big portion and friendly service, the only downfall was that the coffee came in a takeaway cup. My dog was made welcome and he was allowed to sit with me. Lovely farm shop with lots of interesting local produce. Would definitely recommend, also ideal for cyclist as bikes would be safe outside.

We visited 30th Aug 2018 to a warm welcome from mother and daughter and 3 lovely dogs. Our children were given treats to give to the dogs and we were asked if we wanted to sample some of the ciders. We ordered cream teas all round and were not disappointed. The scones were cooked fresh and had come straight out of the oven. The jam was thick and fruity. Our children had hot chocolate where they could choose their sprinkles, this went down a treat. They have a huge array of homemade cakes and slices on offer, we chose some to take home with us. This is exactly what we look for when out and about. Warm friendly welcome and tasty food and drink.

Trip Advisor will not accept the postcode for some reason, but it works on SatNav with no problem. New shop (opened July 2016) selling mostly local produce, much of which is produced on the farm. Speciality is local cider of various different types - with tastings! Very friendly and pleasant. Menu is small at the moment, expected to improve with time. Pleasant open, but covered, area for eating/relaxing. Dog friendly.

Had a wonderful lunch at The Oxenham. We have eaten here many times and keep coming back because we are never disappointed. The food was exceptional, very good value and the lovely Fran was very welcoming and could not have looked after us any better. I always have the steak because I cant get a better one anywhere else. We will return as soon as we can.
