The Churchill Arms in Kensington and Chelsea

I have been going to the Churchill to eat its superb Thai food for about 36 years and it has never disappointed. Back then it cost £3.50 for a main dish and now it is 7 times that price. However, still good value and the portions are on the large side. The staff are all very friendly. The only disappointment is that as it has become more and more popular it can become crowded at times. Booking a table is almost essential and that booking is for a 1 hour sitting which can be a bit of a rush. The restaurant area has a greater seating capacity than the bar so no opportunity to drink after your meal.

Went in to have a few pints of beer. Waited for a few minutes to be served knowing that the bar attendant was in front on me (it wasn’t busy). Also, I was looking for the toilet and mistakenly went to the entrance near the ladies toilet and this Thai lady server ask me for how many? And I said I’m just looking for the toilet , and she told me “ do you like to go to the ladies toilet?” Then said something in Thai to her colleague (laughing). Instead of pointing me to the gents toilet immediately. And lastly the beer that I left ( half a pint) on the table before going to the loo. They took it but replace it back. I don’t usually make this kind of feedback because I work in the hospitality industry, but I need to for you guys to improve your service.

You wouldn't think this pub has a thai restaurant. Food very good!

Honestly, people come here for the pub atmosphere not the grub. The thai food is not bad and it is reasonably priced however it is not the best Thai in the area. Personally the chicken in my stir fry was overcooked but I enjoyed the spring rolls and the traditional pub atmosphere. The facade is always impressive, particularly at Christmas and in the spring.

Still probably one of the best Thai food places in London. It's unfortunate they aren't on any delivery service because it would be amazing to have delivered. The food is always solid with a great level of spice and authenticity to Thailand.

Gorgeous space both exterior and interior. Good thai food. Their beer selection is not great but not terrible. Worth checking out around lunchtime but I think you definitely want a reservation for dinner.

Delicious ALE, amazing interiors and exteriors

Very unusual to find a Thai restaurant in an English pub with such an important name and yet the food itself is particularly delicious and refined. The service is fast but efficient. The beef with Thai Basil is very spicy (as it should be) and succulent and the Panang Chicken is close to perfection.

Fantastic Thai experience in the back of The Churchill Arms. Look. Normally I say spicy and at best, it’s tepid but be warned, here, hot means HOT! But I loved it! If you’re craving Thai food that truly delivers on flavor, this spot is an absolute must-visit. Each dish bursts with authentic, bold flavors—perfectly seasoned and packing just the right amount of heat. The spices aren’t just there for show; they’re thoughtfully balanced to complement the fresh ingredients, creating layers of taste that make every bite delicious. If you love Thai cuisine with a punch of spice and true depth of flavor, you won’t be disappointed here.

The place is friendly and the decoration is really beautiful! The food is very good at very reasonable prices. However, it would be nice if the servers were more welcoming and smiling, asking if the meal went well and if we wanted something else.

Really old charm London pub, beautifully decorated outside and very quirky inside, lots of Churchill memomorabilia and flag bunting. Fantastic authentic Thai food served here and they have a conservatory style garden area for food.

Stopped by for a quick beer in the middle of the day. Bar looks great, I can imagine it's quite nice here when it gets crowded.

This is a really busy place so you need to book, I enjoyed the Frontier lager, the drunken noodles and the fried rice. I didn't get as much flavour from the jungle curry so didn't enjoy it as much.

The legendary pub… The decoration is a bit “too much”… when there is too much, it kills the charm. The restaurant offers drinks and Thai dishes. My dish with shrimp was good. On the other hand, the children didn't really like their chicken, they mainly ate the rice.

Good atmosphere - love a London pub

Built in 1750, it is a well-known historical pub in London. In the 19th century, Churchill's grandparents often visited here, so after World War II, the store was named as it is today, and many of the furnishings in the store are also related to Churchill. The exterior of the store is decorated with many flowers, which helped the store win the Chelsea Flower Show. It is very eye-catching. The Churchill Arms has always been a very popular pub. From a distance, you can see customers queuing up to dine or drink. Once inside, it becomes even more lively. You have to raise your voice to hear what each other is saying clearly! One of its biggest features is that the restaurant (restaurant and bar each occupy one area) is decorated with an exotic atmosphere and sells Thai cuisine. This time I tried the Pad Thai, shrimp green curry, and fried shrimp rolls. It was really delicious. Delicious, salty and sweet with a bit of spicy, delicious and enjoyable!

Brilliant traditional English pub, Battle of Britain theme. Nice Thai food, had lovely crunchy spring rolls. Nice beer. Eclectic collection of memorabilia, as an Aussie disappointed by lack of Aussie flags as there were many from other nations. 35 Aussies flew for Britain in the Battle and 10 perished. Thai food in a setting of a pub, it is as amazing as it sounds. I ate here for lunch on whim about a decade ago and have been wanting to come back ever since. I'm so happy we were able to get in and get a table in the bar area without much waiting. I got a good cider from the bar and had a wonderful pad si-ew with chicken. We were really hungry and also ordered some spring rolls and they came out super quick. If you are not from the area, this place is worth a stop because of the ambience as well as the yummy food. I'm going to try to go again before I leave!

I am so disappointed with my visit here! Although the main course was fine, nothing special; usual Thai food, I have marked this down since they served me the worse dessert I've had in a restaurant! It was a shop bought apple pie served with canned, foamy, squirty artificial cream. The pie was heated in a microwave and we all know that pastries heated like that goes soggy and is unpleasant. I could not eat it. When I told the server I could not eat the pie, there was no offer to replace it or take it off my bill. Decent restaurants would do that. I will not return.

I didn't try the food because the menu is only Thai food, but the experience of being there is worth it.

Best Thai Food, only comparable to Latymer's

Not as wheelchair friendly as described on their website. There was a doorbell, but it doesn't work. Another patron had to get a member of staff to get the ramp for me. The ramp was too long and almost reached the road so it was very dangerous. Staff members also didn't know how to put the ramp down safely which didn't help. The Thai food restaurant was great and very accommodating for my mobility scooter and seating. But rushed us out and rushed us to pay for our bill. The atmosphere was very cramped and chaotic as to be expected for a pub on Saturday night. But still couldn't be helped by the fact that there was no bouncer on hand to help with the ramp or the crowds.

One of the great London pubs - wonderful, characterful & authentic atmosphere, outstanding internal decor and external decoration and serves probably the best London Pride you will ever taste . . I've heard the food is good too . . . If you are a tourist visiting the Kensington area you must go . . .

What a hoot! This looks like an iconic British pub … step inside and it is a British pub on steroids!! So much memorabilia to look at… jam packed with real folks- not just tourists - and to top it off…Thai food in the adjoining restaurant at truly reasonable prices!! Treat yourself … it is easy to get to but not on a busy street.

What a fun place to be in! Especially a great remembrance of Churchill!! Crowed inside and out!!

A London pub that you cannot miss on your visit to the city

Amazing place, but a little too crowded, we had to go outside.

The pub is renowned for its floral exterior which was the draw card for our visit. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior also which was super quirky and unique. I’m glad I made a reservation as it was at capacity though I don’t think the casual style Thai food was particularly memorable. It’s tasty but regardless go for the atmosphere of a classic English pub

This pub is a “tourist spot” that is worth it. It is famous and cited as one of the best in London and with good reason. Good food, good beer, interesting decor and excellent service. We went on a Saturday, even though it was busy and had to wait, it was worth the experience. I recommend!

The service at the pub was okay but the red fox ale tasted stale and the brixton pale ale gave a me weird reaction (mild hives/itching)..maybe it was off in some way. The Thai restaurant experience was terrible. The male waiter told me to pay the ticket after food or some vague unclear directions in that vein. I waited for over an hour and then inquired about it only be told I had to pay for my ticket first in order to receive it. Once I paid, it did arrive quickly. Unfortunately, it was clearly the very mild pad thai instead of the spicy one I ordered. There was zero spice, but overwhelming sweetness. The texture was goopy and off putting as well. Could only tolerate a few bites. Left promptly after that feeling dissatisfied and itchy (from one of the beers).

An atmospheric London pub with a long history associated with Winston Churchill and his family. The facade is full of beautiful flowers. The decor is full of various souvenirs. Delicious beer. We didn't like a Thai restaurant in such a place. Worth a visit.

I LOVE this pub. Such a weird combination of traditional British pub and a Thai restaurant. We go every time we visit. It is a must if you like a good pint mixed with a plate of pad Thai!!! Give it a try!

Our bartenders were Dillon and Sebastian. They were the superstars of our visit. As American on our first time visit, it was very warm and welcoming to be introduced to our culture.

Reserved in the pub but then got the table in the Thai compartment. Shaky chairs, moldy walls... The waitress complained that our order was too small. Tables are wiped with the same cloth as the chairs. We won't be coming back and won't recommend it.

It looks beautiful inside and outside. The food was okayish, not that tasty. The billing was very strange. We were initially charged £3 for a tea although it was saying £2. And the staff insisted on the wrong price until we showed them the correct price from the menu. Also there is a sign "service charge not included". But guess what, the service charge is included at about 10%. You should check the bill closely.

The portion was really too small on the beef Kad Pa ordered, compared to the other dishes. Won’t be a back for the food, but beautiful pub.

The waitress's attitude was awful. She was straight out rude. We were looking forward to eating here for MONTHS and was so disappointed in the way we were treated. We were rushed to order and to leave immediately afterwards. The food was very good, but I was expecting a calm and laid back evening. We saved up for our London trip for a long time and this was not the way we wanted to spend our hard earned money. This bad experience ruined our day - it could have been so different!

This pub was such a cool stop. The four of us found the Thai food good, but not great. However, we had the best cup of coffee we had ever had there. It was our first time without milk or cream and it was the smoothest, most delicious coffee. Maybe not what someone typically gets in the pub, but worth a try.

Difficult to find a seat, but a real English pub where you can have a beer and meet new people

The pub is very attractive from the outside, nice decor of the bar, but combining Thai food with an English pub is not a good idea, you have 1 hour to eat, you can't order one meal to share, you have to order sides, the service in the Thai part was poor very not nice. I recommend coming and just drinking a beer in the first part of the pub, where there is a real pub atmosphere, just like the locals do.

Amazing pub atmosphere. As a tourist we wanted to feel this vibe. You get the great pub with great beers and you have amazing thai food combined. We loved it!

The best pub with images of Churchill's past decorated everywhere. I didn't try the food, but the overall atmosphere and service were the best. It's the best pub to take a break and have a beer, and the exterior is very impressive.

Four mature women on holiday from USA. We went here because of the great reviews and we were not disappointed. We forgot the name of what we had but we each loved it. Service was phenomenal. If you like Thai food just go.

Brilliant little find or BIG. Britain Is Great. Packed with wonderful memorabilia mainly Churchill of course. Also serves Thai Food, that I love but not tried their interpretations. Certainly be back for more Fullers ESB

Great Thai food and great beer at this pub. Been there twice recently and thoroughly enjoyed myself both times. It can get very busy so go early if you can.

The atmosphere is great, but is rare that the foos was pad thai. If you are looking for eat a typical dishes or, al least, bar-dishes, it’s not the place

Amazing pub, great beer and lovely food ❤️

We came in for a drink and sat down at a table in the bar area with food remnants and a napkin + ramekin of sauce from prior party. After getting our drinks from the bar and avoiding the table it remained uncleared/cleaned. When I kindly asked the food server serving in the bar area if she would mind she said I don't clean for bar. I guess we would have had to order food from her to have that happen. I then cleared the table and took the remnants to the bar and asked the bartender if I could have a rag to clean our table as the food server refused. She just smiled and handed me a dry rag. So still sticky and gross. Finally flagged the manager after an entire round for a proper clean. Terrible service and upkeep. Even the flowers on the table are sitting in murky, moldy water.

Visit on Wednesday 2024.08.21 Notting Hill is the place I arrived on a walking pilgrimage... I was thinking about taking the bus, but the waiting time and walking time were similar, so I walked... haha. At first, I thought it was just a pop... but there was Taishigang inside... There were no seats near the pub, so I went to the main building to grab a bite to eat. Ordered Pad Thai and beer... A strange situation where a Korean family eats Thai food in a British pub... haha Anyway, we ended up having a simple early dinner with cold beer and Pad Thai in an interior as gorgeous as the exterior... After eating, we walked to our accommodation in Paddington...

It was really strange that they told us they don’t make Campari spritz, especially since they offered an Aperol spritz and had Campari on hand. The customer before us even ordered one. The service was incredibly slow, and I found a long strand of blonde hair in my drink, which was concerning since none of the bartenders or anyone in our group had blonde hair.

Excellent Thai food. The place is quaint in size but, full of novelty and atmosphere. It was a pleasant 20 minute walk from our hotel near BAY WATER RD . No waiting when we arrived.

I heard it was famous so I went there once. I went there expecting a British pub, but I got Thai food... It's amazing I don't think there were many types of beer. The food is so greasy that the advantage, not the disadvantage, of drinking a lot of beer is... . The exterior and interior are filled with plants, which is nice. It seems to be a popular attraction for locals by offering something unique. As a traveler, it didn't have the feel of a British pub.

I had a beer, sitting on the sidewalk and we greatly enjoyed the moment of tranquility and good atmosphere there was. That's why I give a four to the beers there were. Great moment of relaxation
