If you are looking for a place with good food, great drinks and a buzzing atmosphere then gold is the place to come. Highly recommend the braised beef short with nettle tagliatelle and wild garlic as well as the chargrilled picanha steak. For desert you can’t go wrong with the lemon tart which has a wonderful sharp taste. For drinks, the pineapple paloma cocktail is utterly delicious!

Visited for lunch last weekend. The staff and service was superb. The menu was other worldly. I enjoyed a combination of flavours that were stupendous. I can’t recommend Gold enough. A fabulous atmosphere. The al fresco style dining is incredible; you’d never believe you were feet away from the hustle and bustle of Portobello Road. I can’t wait for my next visit.

We originally booked for 7 for a table, but I didn't realise that we had to eat, TBF I assumed that because it's a bar/restaurant by 9pm I thought it would be more of a bar. But they were really accommodating and managed to seat us for drinks instead which we really appreciated. Kudos to the staff, we had a great time would definitely come back. Next time for food for sure.

I arrived there exhausted of climbing Notting Hill hill's with my walker, and I think the host noticed it. They quickly sat me by the fire and brought my tea. Four of the staff emptied the same floor bathroom so I could use it. The braised beef agnoletti was so tender and flavorful. Thank you for being so welcoming. Best experience in London so far.

Amazing food - each dish was delicious and so well thought through. The vibes are super nice in the restaurant although I do feel the service could be improved. The sourdough tiramisu was so good as well as the chicken. I also really liked the polenta. We are regulars at gold, we live locally and have been going at least once a week if not more. It’s been our go to place but after ordering a bottle of wine which we struggled to finish, there was a big portion of the bottle remaining and the waiter then emptied the entirety of the bottle in two glasses and therefore overfilling them. I appreciate you want people to order more but no one fills a glass of wine to this extent, not only it’s not enjoyable but also it gives a feeling of being rushed and used to order more. We then asked for a paper cup to walk around portobello and enjoy the wine in the sun (we never asked for paper cups before) but when you empty the entire bottle you should expect the guests to be annoyed enough to want to leave. We were also told no paper cups are available. I loved gold but the least you can do is to apply appropriate etiquette when it comes to wine serving (what we asked for is the bare minimum). Thank you

Been on my list since ages and finally tried!! What a great lunch! Sharing concept with a lot of plates choices that come not in order but when the food is ready. We tried many plates that were absolutely delicious. Favorite one was the sea bream and ceviche, but also the beef carpaccio was very good. The atmosphere was perfect as sunny day we had lunch in the terrace that looked like to be in a little garden, so cosy! Service was great also. Friendly and welcoming. Another place added in London’s best restaurants. Definitely coming back.

Really enjoyed lunch here, the zero alcohol Estrella was very nice along with the cucumber and feta salad, burrata with charred pear, chargrilled polenta. The wood roasted leeks were tasty but just too tough to eat! Four small courses was definitely enough for two people.

Recently celebrated an anniversary at Gold, and it didn’t disappoint. Sea trout ceviche was fresh, great kick from the horseradish—though I must say I preferred the black cod carpaccio last time. Standout: braised beef short rib—rich, tender, and beautifully cooked + nettle tagliatelle with wild garlic was an unexpected highlight too; light, vibrant, and full of spring flavours. Suggestion : would be great if the dessert menu was online to find the names as I’d recommend the “lemon tart”without hesitation, but the “chocolate dessert”, with a touch of sea salt, would be absolute perfection. For drinks, the pineapple paloma cocktail every time!! I’m not kidding!! Interior and atmosphere is stunning and the staff are helpful and attentive. I’ve dined here a few times before (somehow always upstairs unfortunately), and there’s a good reason I keep coming back.

Excellent! The staff is very friendly and helpful, the ambiance is very pleasant, the food is good, it is prepared in an open kitchen. Out of 3 dishes, one piece of meat was tough, they immediately replaced it with another dish and did not charge anything for that person, a very good and rare gesture, thank you!! They made us have a wonderful time and we feel great! RECOMMENDED! We will definitely come again!

A fantastic and very Notting Hill place. Food is very nice and overpriced. Very much like the Notting Hill neighborhood, nice and overpriced. I’m not sure what the concept is called, maybe Luxury Tapas. A lot of current London restaurants seem to be based on these concepts these days. The issue for me is that you loose the simplicity and “in-your-face” quality of tapas without quite getting the subtleties and sophistication of proper gastronomy. This said, we had a great time. It was a lovely evening and the walk back in this cool March weather saved the night.

The roasted pineapple Paloma was the BEST cocktail I’ve ever had! Worth the price tag. I ordered the steak, well-done, and they cooked it perfectly! The sprouting broccoli as my app was also delicious. We sat outside and it was quite pleasant. The service was great as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

I was really looking forward to this as a good friend had recommended us. To be honest, I wasn't going to say anything but thought I should, really. The service was welcoming, and attentive are vegetarian dishes were nice, not amazing but interesting flavours. Are meat dishes we're a prawn and chicken dish. The chicken dish was not very nice it was burnt, both the bread and chicken, and the meat was dry. I did mention this to the waiter at the end, thinking he would do something, but he never did. It was my mistake as I should have said something earlier. I thought as he was so helpful earlier on that he would have done something. I don't really like to make a fuss or scene, but I was let down by this handling of this. Would I go again??

The decor, ambience and vibe are beautifully thought through and designed. Sitting at a table in the back, the place feels like you're sat in a tropical jungle by candlelight. A wonderful concept for the look, and the food looks good on the plate too. Yet again, them proving that style over substance is a poor approach when building a restaurant, particularly one that wants to charge heftily for its food. The soul of any good restaurant is the food, and food without depth (of flavour, or thought) such as what you may find at Gold, can only cause a reaction of deep disappointment because the beautiful setting that was so charming before the food arrived, and that got you cheering for them, only turned to a false promise once the food arrived. Several others may rate this restaurant highly because of its date night potential, and maybe because they are confusing nice plating for flavour, or maybe because it represents the landscape of London restaurants at large, but without hitting the spot with the food, a restaurant can never separate itself from the rest.

I am delighted with this place! I was in London solo, so I had a lot of concerns about dining alone in restaurants, where usually there are at least two people, but in this place I felt very taken care of and generally did not feel any discomfort despite having dinner alone. The service was very nice and friendly, the waiter often checked if everything was OK and if he could serve something else - maybe this is something you don't pay that much attention to when you're with someone, but when I ate alone in several restaurants, most of them just felt awkward, the service was nice but not very interested, and here, thanks to the service, I felt completely relaxed. As for the restaurant itself, it's a beautiful place, I had dinner in the evening, amazing atmosphere - plants, candles, pleasant colors. The food was excellent too! The prices may not be the lowest, but I really don't regret a penny. I have nothing to complain about, I will definitely come back here when I am in London again.

This spot is so nice! My friend and I went for dinner on a Monday evening, so wasn’t too busy, although we still booked a table. The interior was lovely with so much greenery. Food was great - we had the sweet potato, trout ceviche, roasted cauliflower and the pappardelle. We loved everything - the trout was a standout. The menu has a lot of selection, so I’d recommend going with a group so you can try lots of different things. I’ll be back to try more out on their menu!

Crazy experience! We had lunch by chance in this restaurant, at the kitchen counter, which made everything even more engaging. Every dish was super good and with attention to the smallest details. I organised a Sunday birthday party lunch for myself and 22 guests in Gold's private dining room and it was a total success! Everyone had a wonderful time, and they all commented on the fantastic service and the food which was delicious. The only slight downside was that the kitchen had a problem that day so the food delivery wasn't as quick as expected, and there were some gaps between the starters, mains, and puddings. Gold's staff apologised during the meal for the delay, and everyone was having such a good time that it didn’t impact significantly, but if you're having a party there it's worth reminding them on the day. I would also like to commend our waitress, Racquel. She was superb, everyone loved her, and at the end of the meal she took me to one side, praised my friends and family and the love for me that was in the room. I was very touched and humbled by her kind words, so see if you can get her if you're planning a lunch or dinner for a group of friends.

The food is very good. My mum & I were seated at the bar tables watching the kitchen. Unfortunately, we got to watch the food get prepared. One of the chefs kept touching all the food and re-arranging it with her bear hands, but then she would touch pans, pots, dirty towels. She would open the straw of her water bottle where she puts her mouth and then re-arrange leafs, sweet potatoes, chicken etc. I did not find the kitchen very hygienic. It was difficult to eat the food that was served after. We notified the waiter but it was too late.

My experience at Gold was one of excellent customer service. The interior is beautiful - even on a rainy day, the garden area feels like you’re outside. First time yesterday with friends for a big lunch and we were all very impressed. The ambience is relaxed yet uplifting, and the plant decor is very welcoming. Every member of staff was helpful and attentive. They knew the menu including wine selections well and were spot on with recommendations. We ordered a selection of dishes and it was fantastic to have different, and of course delicious, food. Everything we ordered was just perfect, many interesting dishes, and the wine was also very spot on. Really one of the best restaurants I've been to for a long time and I look forward to returning.

I absolutely love the atmosphere and food at Gold, and the cocktails are fantastic as well. I work nearby, so I often visit for after-work drinks-dinner. Also came late several times after 9pm for weekend dinners with friends. It’s a great spot for a great evening. That said, the service can be a bit of a letdown…. While I understand the common 2-hour table policy in London, being reminded of it every 30 minutes makes the experience feel rushed and uncomfortable. Yesterday, we ordered cocktails and asked if we could have the food after we finished our drinks. The waiter reminded the 2-hour policy and reassured us that the food would take a while to prepare, so it wouldn't arrive too soon. Yet, the food came just five minutes later. This inconsistency is frustrating, especially when you're trying to enjoy your time without being rushed and eat in our own time. We were going to order another bottle of wine being moved to the sofas, but i felt like going to another place which we feel more welcomed and we left… On another visit a couple of weeks ago, we were repeatedly asked every 15 minutes if we wanted to order more food, despite already having ordered 4 plates for 3 people and many drinks. Not everyone has to spend your average calc on food per person. If I am not too hungry, I won’t eat more-simple as that. It felt like we were being pushed, which really detracts from the laid-back vibe that should come with the place. Gold has so much potential, but the staff (&management) could benefit from being more mindful of the customer experience. A more relaxed and accommodating approach would definitely improve the overall atmosphere.
