· This establishment is nothing more than a low key dowdy motel. It should not be listed on such sites as booking.com. The rooms were shabby , my first offering with no room lighting or curtains. My second a extremely sub standard offering. Shower head hanging from the wall. A dirty bath with no plug and a rotten side panel. The table lamp nothing more than a glass unit balanced on the table. The curtains were disgusting covered in white stains. The carpet stained and dirty. Emergency exit signs ripped from the door. No kettle or cups on allocation. The clientele appeared on face value to be the local homeless. Stale bread from local bakers offered in reception from a sack for the needy! The worst establishment I have ever stayed in

Reasonable hotel, ideal for what we needed, x1 night before leaving for Luton airport. Its about 5 miles from the airport. Just watch out you don't get over charged in the bar for drinks and food as we did. X2 glasses of wine and x2 beers £25!!! Queried it and it should have been £14.90, barman had charged us for a bottle of wine as well. So get your receipt and check it. Bedrooms ok, bathrooms clean, but a few grotty/worn bits. Plenty of parking, although looks to be used with a lot of workers in Van's.

Stayed at the chiltern hotel as a stop over before our flight to Iceland in the morning. It is cheap, yes, however there is not enough money in the world that would make me want to stay here again. Upon arrival the first thing we saw was a sign that mentioned there had been car robberies and to not leave valuable in the car! It genuinely looked like a murder scene, there were blood stains on the bed, the window was smashed open and wouldn’t close and even empty NOS canisters everywhere. It looks quite nice from the outside but beware, don’t be fooled. This was probably the worst place I have ever stayed at in the UK. Didn’t sleep a wink as there was banging all night long, it actually sounded like gun shots at one point. You are better offer staying at the Ibis budget right by the airport with all the planes, least you’d get a quieter night sleep. Was going to complain but read the reviews and heard the staff are incompetent and rude so couldn’t be bothered. Don’t know how this has 6* on booking.com I’ll be writing on there too!

Firstly it was very cheap amazing price of around £34. However I should have looked at the reviews which give a good insight! Big free car park and reception was large and fairly modern. Strangely the walls and roof of the lift were clad in laminate flooring but it did the job. Opened the bedroom door on first floor and it absolutely stunk, I'm not sure if it was cigarettes or damp, possibly both, opened the window immediately to let air in as it made me feel sick, this took the edge off. The bathroom was fairly modern but had a three lights above the mirror with no shades, also a big hair on the back of the door. Initallly the room looked clean but upon closer inspection it was dirty with thick dust inc the metal frame of the desk chair. Bed was comfortable although probably old. I didn't eat so can't coment on that. Overall with a bit of money spent and just better overall cleaning standards if could be vastly improved.

Comfortable room and beds but chilly room. Air conditioning had sticker over controls so could not work it properly. Noisy air conditioning units outside bedroom going on and off all night had hardly any sleep because of the noise. Tried to make a complaint but when we were leaving there was nobody around to complain to. Outside our bedroom window, there were dumped beds and rubbish - a breeding ground for rats. would not stay here again.

Our party was put behind a makeshift curtain in the bar area to eat, we were fed cheap over cooked frozen food which was literally inedible. Anyone who dared to complain about anything to the manager was shouted back at. Extremely rude woman. Not one person on our trip was happy with the shambles of a place. Bad from start to finish. Seriously avoid.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but I really feel the need to mention how unclean our hotel room was! We booked this hotel simply as somewhere to put our heads down for a few hours on our way back from a day trip to London, but hey, I guess you really do get what you pay for... I can accept that the hotel decor needs a bit of updating in general, and that's not an issue. But the fact that our room clearly hadn't been cleaned thoroughly for months is unacceptable. As soon as we walked in we could see holes in the walls and a wall lamp that was ripped and broken. There were several very clear handmarks/smears/scuff marks over every single surface (including some very questionable marks/stains all up the wall next to the headboard that we darent inspect too closely!) The curtains were half hanging off the rail and the net curtains were ripped and stained as well. The bathroom didn't look like it had seen bleach in about 10 years either! I had to wipe around the toilet with a wet wipe before I could even sit on it as there were dried urine stains on there that hadn't been cleaned up. The taps were all stained with limescale/mould. We did have a nice view of a huge dry crusty bogey smeared on the tissue dispenser though, which we feel was a lovely added extra (not!) Needless to say, even after a long day of travelling, we didn't even use the shower! The only one saving grace about it all is that the mattress was fairly comfy, although the bed sheet was dotted with some old faded stains, which was slightly off putting. We were tempted to ask for another room, but we got the impression that they'd all be in pretty similar conditions. We were tired and just wanted to get a good night's sleep (well, that would have been easier if the windows suitably blocked out the bar music & noisy traffic from the main road...) The two reception staff we briefly spoke to were very pleasant but overall, would definitely not stay again!

We used this hotel as the venue for the annual conference of a small charity. The conference organiser, Pamela was extremely helpful and managed to satisfy all our requests at a reasonable price. The hotel was rather tired and some of the bedrooms very basic. However prices were low for a hotel near London. The food was reasonable. Some of the staff were outstanding - a special thanks to Sultana who went above and beyond the call of duty and also Issa who responded to every request with a beaming smile and quick action!

Hi we had a quick stop over at this hotel on Wednesday. The hotel is in need of some updates but for the money we paid it was ok. It’s not too far from the M1 J11 so easy to get on and off if you at flying from Luton Airport. The room was a good size complete with a queen size bed. Much better than the budget hotels near the airport. One down side is it on a busy road and next to a 24hour fuel station, so not particularly quiet. Free parking was a massive bonus and there was plenty of space. I would use it again.

We stayed here over night as part of a national holidays weekend break. On entry the hotel seemed very tired and in need of a refurb. We were allocated our room and we told where it was. On arrival at the first floor the first thing we noticed when entering the corridor was the fact that the carpet was very poorly fitted with several "ripples" that could cause someone unsteady on their feet to trip, it was also coming away in our door way (room 120). On entry to our room the first thing to catch my eye was the door change that had obviously been kicked off at some point and was now very crudely screwed into the wall at a strange angle. There was a kettle tea/coffee decent sized cups an iron an ironing board and a hairdryer all very decent. I decided to put the TV on to check the football scores but try as we might neither of us could get it to work despite it lighting up when pressing the remote buttons. I decided to have a shower only to find their was only one towel despite it been a double room and 2 of us been on the booking. We ended up not bothering deciding to go for the evening meal and couple of drinks instead. On the way to the restaurant I informed reception we needed another towel and asked them to fix the TV which the girl on reception said she would do straight away. The drinks were reasonably priced and quite decent all thought despite having a Strongbow tap they had no Strongbow they only had 4 bottles of kopaberg and pink gin ran out after one glass clearly a poor ordering system in place. Included in our trip was a 3 course meal, we had a choice of breaded mushrooms soup or melon for starter turkey scampi or quiche for main and Apple pie or Lemon tarte for desert. We both had mushrooms we were ok I then went to the bar before mains and on my return found there was only scampi left (again clearly poor planning as in our party of 44 only 20 could have turkey despite more wanting it no more was forthcoming) I had the scampi and have to say it was the worst I have ever tasted. It was not like any scampi I've ever eaten it was almost like a fishcake texture and not even prawn flavoured (it was that poor I left it and rung a kebab) not a single person who had it liked it. Desert was ok although the Apple pie came with cold custard and there was no sauce or ice cream with the tart. We had a couple more drinks and went to bed around 11 (some 5 hours after reporting the TV and towels) only to find no one had been to rectify either. This resulted in another trip to reception and I spoke to a new receptionist who said he would get someone to come up straight away. The towels arrived around 25 minutes later with a guy who barely spoke English who walked in banged the TV pressed a couple of buttons on the remote before shrugging his shoulders and declaring "it's broke". By this stage it was almost midnight so we gave up and went to bed, around 12.30 there was a knock on the door waking us where the receptionist stood asking if we wanted to change room. While I appreciate the sentiment it wasn't exactly the best of times especially when this could have been done 6 hours earlier if they had checked the TV when reported initially. The following morning I went in the shower putting my shower gel onto the corner shelf in the shower only for it to fall straight in the floor as their was no shelf in/on it, the shower itself was hot and powerful although the cubicle itself was a little grubby and could do with a deep clean. Breakfast was much better than the evening meal with bacon sausage beans mushrooms scrambled egg (a request for poached egg was declined) but no tomato? There was also a variety of cereal yogurt and some fruit in syrup with unlimited coffee tea orange juice and Apple juice.

Myself and 2 family members were booked into this hotel by National Holidays as part of the Warner Bros. Studio / Harry Potter Tour. What an absolute nightmare of a hotel. It was dirty, had maintenance issues / damaged parts and the facilities were less than desirable. There were pubic hairs on the toilet of one of our rooms and there were stains on the furnishings in another of our rooms. We were given two rooms which were on opposite sides of the hotel and on separate floors, despite explaining at the point of booking via the tour operator that we wanted to be accommodated in the same room (for which we paid an extra supplement). When we went for dinner the ‘Duty Manager’ (an Irish female) ushered everyone into the function room and told us that we would be joining the Christmas party function that was being held!! This meant we were stuck in a room with people we did not know, drinking alcohol, some were dressed very inappropriately and the whole thing was just completely not what we were sold! We wanted dinner in a respectable setting, with the choice of being around alcohol or not. One member of my party does not drink alcohol due to personal and religious reasons and whilst she respects that others have the right to do as they please, ordinarily she wouldn’t choose to put herself in the situation where there is a Christmas party going on where people are drinking excessively. It was completely inappropriate. We spoke to the Duty Manager and raised our concerns calmly, requesting to sit elsewhere within the hotel as we weren’t comfortable being in attendance at someone else’s Christmas party. Her attitude absolutely stank. She acted as though she was doing us a favour by ‘allowing’ us to attend the party, she repeatedly spoke over us, she raised her voice which drew attention to us and made us feel uncomfortable. She then said, reluctantly, that we could leave the party and sit in the main restaurant where she would “try to get somebody to serve us our food”. At this point I was extremely annoyed at the way we had been treated so I went to the main desk and requested the Area Manager or the General Manager. To my disappointment the same Duty Manager came over to us whilst we were standing at the main reception desk and she began to SHOUT at us in a very aggressive and confrontational manner, saying she didn’t know why we had an issue with attending the party - regardless of WHY we had an issue, we had one, and as paying customers we should have been given the choice of joining the party or not. We should not have been made to feel small or intimidated by a ‘manager’ for raising our concerns. I asked the female to refrain from shouting, talking over me and pointing at me and she then said “do you know what, we’re not feeding you” and stormed off!! I honestly can’t express how utterly infuriating and embarrassing this was. She had absolutely no right to treat us this way; never mind the fact that we had PAID for an evening meal as part of our package - she did not have the monopoly over whether we ate or not! The gentleman behind reception had a complete look of shock on his face and agreed that she should not have behaved like that. He then got us the General Manager who was helpful, remorseful and embarrassed regarding her behaviour. He listened to us and sat us in the restaurant separately to the Christmas party. We were then served the same basic Christmas ‘meal’ that everyone else was having; there was no choice (the package deal was not stipulated as a set menu). The whole thing has been a shambles from start to finish. Not a chance in hell that I would recommend this place. Formal complaint lodged with National Holidays and I will spread the word regarding The Chiltern Hotel to as many people as I can: AVOID.

This was the Xmas lunch for 135 pensioners from Barclays Bank and to say the lead it was extremely disappointing. The food when it arrived was cold. A gravy boat was placed on the table at least 15 minutes before the food was served hence it too was cold and had to be sent back. The service was slow Nd there were not enough people to serve. The dessert was supposed to have hot chocolate sauce which appeared as just minute drizzle. The coffee was supposed to be served with mince pies which didn't even appear.Altogether a very disappointing experience and would definitely not recommend.

I booked online and paid for breakfast special for 4 nights whilst on business nearby. When I checked in the Reception told me I hadnt paid for breakfast. On producing my printed online reservation for the 2nd time, and much deliberation with person disappearing into a rear office, I was told that I had paid for breakfast. Room was just about ok- clean enough but smelt of damp or smelly sink waste.Bed very firm but okay, lighting very poor if you need to work in your room as I did. Only 1 lift seemed to work, the other one had sticky tape over buttons so I didn't trust it. I was told every morning that I was not on the list for breakfast and had to go and see Reception to clarify that I had paid (most annoying). Breakfast was ok, not brilliant but edible! The fire alarm went off in the early hours one morning, I evacuated the building along with about 20 others- the rest of the hotel didn't bother which is rather surprising given the terrible event at Grenfell Tower this year. The Reception didn't seem very organised during the fire alarm and eventually we all went back to our rooms, though no apology or explanation from the Hotel. Couldn't fault room cleaning on the plus side- bed was made and fresh soap and towels every day. I wasn't expecting The Ritz for the price I paid but a bit of training on politeness, efficiency and general management of a hotel wouldn't go amiss. I will not be staying again!

Bed was very hard and uncomfortable and one bedside light bulb had blown. Breakfast was good! Pulled the curtains on night 2 and the pole fell off the brackets! On the second morning put the kettle on and the hairdryer which blew all the sockets. Contacted reception who gave me a key for another room down the corridor. Trundled down there with my mug, mirror and hairbrush.....and then the same thing happened when I put the kettle on. At that point I called Reception and said I was giving hope of doing my hair and getting a cup of tea. The man came up, unlocked fuse cupboards and reset both fuses. Needless to say I boiled the kettle first before drying my hair!

I attended a ball at the Chiltern in May 2016 and I had the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel (and I have stayed I'm some really cheap hotels!)Upon check in we unpacked only to find an unpleasant suprise in our toilet! When we tried to flush it down, the toilet water came to the top of the bowl and we couldn't use the toilet for a number of hours. We were kept waiting for a while whilst we waited for someone to come and fix it (members of staff were really unsure as to what they should do and 2 of them even bickered about who should come up to sort it out!)When someone did eventually come up we were told it would take a day to fix and so they would move our room. By this time we had not started to get ready for our event and so arrived late, despite the fact we booked the hotel so this wouldn't happen! We moved to an even smaller room and the 3 of us had to move the heavy furniture around in order to be able to fit the fold out bed in. We went downstairs to our event and had a good time. However when it was time to go to bed, my little sister went to lie on the fold out bed and she fell right through the springs!!! The bed was totally unusable! We reported this at 1.30am to reception (after getting attitude from the staff on reception, as though we were being a bother) and someone came up and informed us that they were fully booked and couldn't give us another bed or room. This meant that I had to sleep on THE FLOOR so my sister and mum could share the double bed because there was no way the three of us would fit in that one bed!I was outraged and asked if I would be refunded and was told that usually I would only be able to get 25% back but that I would get 50% back. (I feel that if this was a top hotel such as the hilton, not only would the stay have been free of charge they would have offered something additional as a good will gesture!)We woke in the morning. With a stiff neck and sore back from sleeping on the floor I was then utterly horrified to find a bed bug on the sheet I had just got up from!!!!We left thinking we will NEVER stay at this hotel again!!!!Terrible experience and moody staff.....No thank you ! Please see pictures of my makeshift bed and the bed bug on it attached to this review. This was the second time we stayed at the Chiltern hotel. The last time my mum slept on the fold out bed and during the night the bed closed up on her, dropping her to the floor! We thought that this was a one-off incident but clearly the hotels standards are very poor! Events at this hotel may be good, but if you want to stay over....think again!!

I'll freely admit that I'm yet to experience the catering, or much as of the service, as I checked in particularly late. But checking in late, comfort and cleanliness are things that are generally things that set up a good night's sleep. Unfortunately the hotel is a little battered and bruised throughout, seemingly crying out for a good investment. On the face of it, rooms are modern, but not as clean as you'd expect, and hints of wear and tear pop out through out: worn and stained carpets, could do with a vacuum; wardrobe could have done with a tidy out, after last guest; radiator brackets surely could have been removed, at the same time as the radiator (rooms have air conditioning); rusty toilet roll holder could probably do with replacing; the stain in the shower could probably do with a good scrub; and the threadbare scatter cushion on the bed is surely only fit for the trash.

Stayed overnight as part of a package. Supposed to be a London break - who considers Luton to be London? Anyway, we were returning after a show at the Albert Hall, which finished at 5.30pm, with the intention of getting to the hotel for a 7.00pm meal. We arrived at 8.00pm! Traffic was horrendous. So, hats off to the staff who had to serve to coachl;oads of people in a very short time - which they did efficiently. Food wasn't cordon bleu, but was hot, fresh, and tasty.Rooms were a bit basic. Bed was a double mattress on a king bed, which was curious! Also, very springy, so when one person rolled over, both did! Short of hangers in the wardrobe (one or two). We had a nicely-refurbished bathroom in ours, which was state of the art. But you needed a degree to work out how to use the shower!Breakfast was perfectly adequate, too. Again, staff very helpful and friendly. So, although we wouldn't have stayed her by choice, it worked out OK.Not sure why this hotel came up on TripAdvisor as only a restaurant, as it is a residential hotel.

This hotel is under refurbishment but it doesn't seem to be going well. The refurbed rooms don't have a bath and beds are way too soft. I am told by staff that they will add baths to the rooms on the next floor when they are done. The old rooms were really over due for their makeover. I can't comment on the food or the bar. We didn't actually end up staying the whole night. I have a whiplash injury and no bath and over soft bed was a show stopper. My sole reason for the 3 stars was the staff. They were really great. They did their best to help us, but they just didn't have what we thought we had booked (a nice room with a bathtub). The manageress, Pamela, was a firm lady but understanding, friendly and helpful. The blonde receptionist, who's name we didn't get, was really friendly, helpful and did all she could. I hope that when the refurbishments are finished they don't skimp on all the mattresses and the the hotel can meet the standard of its fantastic staff.

There are so many things wrong with this place... Room smelt of damp, corridors smelt of urine, overflowing bins and wrecked furniture out the back, single bed, dodgy plaster repairs to walls in room, would'nt give an itemised bill, 24hr petrol station outside the room, no air con, curtains dont meet in the middle and were held up with paperclips. Do yourself a favour and sleep in your car.

We had a 5 night stay, pre paid peak of the summerFirst room aircon didn't work, no fridgeSecond room we were upgraded, no fridge, aircon barley blew out warm air,Room servicing only ever left one towel, we had to go to reception to collect a second towelCoffee & Milk was not replenished we had to call for additional We left a "Privacy Please" on the door when we went to breakfast, we had left our valuables out. When we returned from breakfast our room had been serviced.(only one towel was left)Breakfast was serviced in the dining room, anyone would have thought there was a funeral about to happen, no music ambiance was terrible. we were not told we could order eggs no one offered the information. (we heard someone order them the next morning) food was warm, coffee was terrible. A vent fell out of the roof during service & was never replaced the whole week. After repeated complaints about the aircon nobody attended. The aircon is controlled from reception, you cannot turn it off or on or control he temperature it is all done from reception. The restaurant was NOT opened on the weekend, its advertised as 7 days a week with a seven day a week meal & beer offer????? After complaining about this, they made a salad & BELT. Salad arrived with no dressing and a Par Bake roll hat was not cooked.I asked for a straw for my drink at the bar, sorry delivery has not arrived, it didn't arrive the entire week. If you wanted to sit outside on the balcony, goof luck finding a table that was not full of glasses, coffee cups & full ashtrays. not sure why, there were only 3 people in the lounge & the bar staff did not look to busy to maybe clean up. I could go on....We asked to speak with a Manager on departing & shared our grievances. Unfortunately we had pre paid for a another night returning back from Europe. The Manager informed us she would look into it & respond via email. Offering no compensation at he time. 4 weeks later still no email. In short the Manager met with us on our return & tried hard to respond to all our issues. We had been upgrade, free bottled water & chocolates in our room. 2 main meals in the restaurant. The aircon still average, the food was just "OK". The staff tried hard to please us,,,,The vent in the dining room was was still not replaced after 4 weeks, the out door area still a mess...the music in the dining room was barely audible...will we stay again...Not a chance!!!

Attended the hotel some days before & enquired into the restaurent menu for a saturday night. Also given a menu card to take home to review. Then 2 days later returned to make a restaurent booking (for an 85th wedding celebration) which was accepted by the Hotel. Arrived on the Saturday evening. And no knowledge of our booking. Apparently it was only because of a conference taking place that they had any meals at all. In their despiration to try and repair their mistake shown to a table which at first had no chairs. Table cloth all crumpled. knifes and forks provided in rolled up paper napkins. No side plates. Hotel managed to find 2 choices for starters - onion soup or breaded mushrooms - which were hard. Main course was either Fish and Chips or from the carvery table - which we reluctantly accepted - Really if we had wanted a carvery we would have gone to a specialist carvery restaurant. The carrots and cauliflower were hard. The roast beef: dry. The desert offering was Ice Cream, cheese cake or toffee pudding.Took a desert, paid and departed. . . . . Generally the decor inside is old and worn out. Patched up from a 1970's construction. The staff not in uniform but just casual dress. If you want your night out ruined this must be the place to go!

What can I say? Wow, what a meal, what a place! Biscot Mill is the place to go for the greatest good and best service! Sophie and Sarah are incredible. Lewis is fantastic, and the chefs tony and Conner know how to cook. I always come every week because of how brilliant this place is! If you're not at biscot mill then you're rubbish Edit: I've returned two weeks later, and boy howdy I've just had the best burger in the world, don't sleep on that chilli burger or a polar bear will attack you. That baked Alaska tasted like the mountains of Alaska them selves! Well done Biscot Mill!
